Here's my hands-on with the Dexto Haptic Gloves! I visited Dexta Robotics in Shenzhen, China to see how they make Ready Player One a reality. These force feedback claws work with every headset from the Oculus Quest to the Playstation VR it's all possible. Welcome to the future!
I'd love to see devices like this adapted to the gaming market. Maybe when implementation of finger-tracking becomes common, we can finally move on to something like this.
@@dylanjb4065 Why would you need finger tracking in beat saber? The normal controllers are far better because you're holding something roughly the shape of a lightsaber's hilt.
Visiting and doing a demo at CES for these gloves was pretty awesome but I love that you got to see some of the prototypes and much more extensive demos and quality time with the developers.
@@Theystolemyhandle not really. Any ammount of death is obviously bad, but around 900 deaths from a virus that has infected over 40,000 people is not much.
The haptic glove from HaptX Inc. seems waay more advanced, they even have little pads on your fingers that let you feel texture and temperature. But it's great to see multiple companies developing awesome things like this. These Golves shown in the video probably are a lot cheaper and easier to produce, I can see them coming out below like 200 bucks or so which should help to kickstart even more developement.
The HaptX gloves have the downside of needing a whole-ass compressor to run, but if they manage to make it more user-/consumer friendly, they're gonna rrump the market I reckon.
I've tried these gloves actually, didn't have time to try out SteamVR demo but it was super cool. To be honest the primary issue might be that they are fairly delicate so if you punched a wall by accident, your haptic gauntlet might be bricked. Had a great chat with Xiaochi Gu as well (fairly sure it was him at Siggraph 2019). :)
@@nathie ok, but nothing is touching most of your fingers, only the fingertips have feedback. what i am saying is that it would be great to have whole-palm feedback at least in some form so that you could feel where is the point of contact.
“Congratulations, you are now in possession the Aperture Science virtual haptic feedback response gloves” “Aperture Science is not responsible for any injury’s involving Cramps, slight irritation of wrists, bone liquefaction, liquefaction of viral organs, mutations involving increased number of limbs, third degree burns residing specifically in places in contact of the gloves, and finally death due to overexposure to the gloves”
The two things that would make me hesitate to get these once available to consumers is 1) Limited amount of compatible games. Could be fixed by allowing custom gestures and binds. 2)All of them require you to also get extra Vive trackers right now
This looks amazing hope they fit lots of different hand sizes cause I love the valve index controllers but my yeti hands slightly screw up the finger tracking which can be annoying.
If this VR is sold to the world, it will start the life of a new world, a world where you can escape reality. I wishtl this can be improved in my time so i can use it.
Looks interesting, wonder how much it costs...I'm guessing a lot lol. But all of these innovations just brings us closer, to something we can use in VR gaming which is fantastic. As at the moment it's the thing that's missing from VR, having your hand ghost through a wall or person really breaks immersion.
if these come before games support them, you could make a "virtual" controller with the glove stopping your fingers like your holding a normal controller
I’m curious on how the will make the feedback for the entire arm like when you push down on a table with your arms you will have to put a way for it to force your entire arm up so yeah this will be quite tricky

It really needs a full body suit in my opinion, so if there's a wall you cant go through it.

Can this thing be Set on a limit, cant it break your hand or smthing?
the motors aren't strong enough to cause damage so if anything goes wrong you could just break it if you try hard enough
thats very good
I’m curious on how the will make the feedback for the entire arm like when you push down on a table with your arms you will have to put a way for it to force your entire arm up so yeah this will be quite tricky
