Doug saying "later when i have kids" is the funniest joke 40 years later
33
This is gold footage of one of my favourite comedians
Yes! What's so cool is that he is not much different here, than how he is today.
the 1 thumbs down is probably from doug haha
LOL you're probably right!
The second one is from bingo!
the 3rd and 4th were their alts
meanwhile there are ten thumbs down and I ask myself how much thumbs do Doug Stanhope have and is that the reason why every girl wants to fuck the guy?
hexRQP fucking hilarious
That's one of the best closers I've heard. Especially in a small club setting like this.
That mane is not to be fucked with
Young Doug makes me think of Randall from Clerks haha.
Timothy Hale agree 100%
its his swagger
fer sure. it's his typical attitude, but the long hair alters his vibe just a bit.
OH SHIT!!!! Tasty kakes.
Timothy Hale.... I don't appreciate your ruse! Your cunning attempt to trick me! Hope it feels good!
even 30 years ago he was already great. i hope i get to see him perform one day
Before his vocal chords were shredded.
He's unbelievably polished for being 1 year int stand-up comedy. And Doug was the 3rd member of Hall & Oats
It was almost Hall And Hope, but Oats screwed Doug out of the gig.
Or the reason they didn't have any songs about face fucking Siamese twins.
Doug's so damn cute here! 22 years old!..I love this
So glad he stuck with it, and became one of the most badass motherfuckers in comedy. For all of us sicko's anyway.
The Boston accent is wicked pissa! More proof that Doug has always been a genius...
What the fuck are you talking about?
he said in an interview that when he started, he tried to emulate Andrew Dice Clay (sounds more like a faux New York accent)
Ragging on the Hawaiian pizza almost 30 years ago!
1990 was when I began stand up. I have since had TV and film credits, standing ovations, a few awards, and wins at comedy competitions.
This performance of his, 32 years ago, is still better than anything I’ve ever done.
"50 years from now tellin' my kids......" lol
I caught that too lol but we know the end of *that* story, don't we lolol
Thanks for uploading this. Very historic. Interesting.
wait a minute... are you telling me Doug Stanhope created the "who figured out milk from a cow" joke first??
a genius is a genius is a fucking genius amiright
+Carl Brutananadilewski won't they see the baby cows going there for milk?
Maybe… but that joke must be older than 1990
Watching this and Bill Hick’s early stand up, it’s amazing how much charisma they had. The attitude was there from the beginning.
fearless
I wish I could watch ONE stanhope video without hicks being mentioned
The most Boston thing ive heard in a long time "is that a haircut or did you get shaved for surgery"
this is amazing! love seeing early footage of Doug and WoW that material is so him. thank you for uploading this
Stanhope had a MULLET!
Bwahahahahahaha!
That was my thought!!! Actually pulled it off too
we all did, deal with it
what's so funny? at least Doug suits the Mullet, anyone named Juan obviously looks ugly with a Mullet, aka Latinos.
@@hlhrted4965 Actually didn't, looks like my mom in 1990.
Thanks so much for uploading this! Doug was a genius even back then!
I can't believe this was 26 years ago.
This is fucken awesome to see Doug was great from the beginning. He hasn't changed much over the years. Obvious from this set he was always very intelligent and witty. One of the greatest comedians of all time 👍
Thanks so much for the upload! Awesome!
He's TWELVE in this. Completely awesome.
+builttrainer 12 1/2 ...Get it right....:).He was still drunk though!
thanks for the upload!
Aww, what a cutie! I'm so glad he and Bingo found each other!
paused the audio book and searched it soon as he mentioned it
Gavin B I'm thinking probably Dougs book Digging up Mother
That fucking audience - Brutal - proof Doug is one tough Hombre. Glad he stuck it out. Great footage and great to see him 26 years ago. Thanks for uploading!
Wow this was great. Thnx for the upload 🍻
The jokes are hacky but that glorious attitude is there.
That hair though
I'm a goon! with a golden six shooter and a mullet (Ill Bill) Awesome show Doug!!
True to his inner self and love him for it. We need people like Doug Stanhope to shake us up and take a long hard look at ourselves. Tough love. Thanks Doug.
HE WAS SO BABY FACED!
Wonderful stuff!!
"Spanking my goofy" So Doug
Fastest 17 minutes of my life.
Awesome!
That last joke took skill
Doug has been brilliant from the beginning! Bravo!!
Awwwwww!!!! He’s so damn cute and perfect, even then! He kills... STANHOPE FOR PRESIDENT 2020
Doug Standup
A straight legend. It'll be a sad day when he's gone.
Man, Stevie Ray Vaughan had some zingers.
"In a reptillllle" Doug Dice Clay hahaha
That accent is crazy thick (compared to Doug today)
Fucking pro right out of the gate.
I love picking up on all the strong Dice nuances. So many comedians talk about how they had to break the habit back then, funny to actually see it for once.
So cute
10:45 - YES! Bring the fuckin' truth, Doug!
Talk about a clip from the archives! Thanks for uploading, even though Doug hates you now. He didn't want anyone to know that he's actually from Brooklyn, not Wooosta.
There's really not much difference between him then and now. Just hits home the point that he's one of the GOAT. Again.
He's so good at involving the crowd.
He's killing.
Wow!!! Where did you get this? Priceless.
Aw... look how cute Doug is!!!
Pure comedy gold!
love the mullet he's rocking!
Crazy how much his accent has changed since this ... he was awesome back then too :-)
Oh snap. Everyone seemed pretty chill back in the day.
We were raised to roll with the punches and if we even suggested that we needed a 'safe space' we'd likely have gotten punched in the face. Unfortunately, most of my then 20 something peers are 40 something fascists today in countering the hypersensitivity of modern authoritarian youth.
Even at 25 (ish) he looked fucking done with all humanity
I love the mullet....
8:09 - he writes in his book that he had a terrible joke just to be able to say the word «sea monkeys». I guess this was it.
nice
fuckin' a, douglas!
when Doug said 'haircut' it reminded me of the mouse from Dumbo for some reason .
Yes bro
hearing new old Stanhope is the best ... where was greasy hawaiian on Beer Hall Putsch?
Holy fuck... consider the fact he started by "covering" andrew dice clay with a few stock-liner's this was allot better then I thought it would be...Gotta love Columbia House
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
That's a beautiful mullet !
Pretty good stuff
06:20 Bingo mention!!
Haha, nice!
doug rants on a podcast how much he hates the fact this exists on UA-cam. so well done for posting
+Robert Creighton I can see why he would hate it but I honestly think it was pretty good, especially if this was really during the 1st year of his career. I genuinely laughed out loud quite a few times and enjoyed it. It was a cool glimpse into the beginnings of one of my favorite comedians. You wouldn't happen to remember what podcast his rant was on would you? That sounds like it would be an interesting topic to listen to him talk about. Cheers
+lateraleye789 sorry I cant recall I'm sure it was one of his podcasts up on doug's channel. I liked some of the jokes
No worries, I haven't listened to many of his podcasts but now I have a reason to :) Thanks for the reply
which podcast was that ? do you know what episode it was ?
sorry to be a pain but I cant remember the exact podcoast its one on his own channel Stanhope tv. its just a bit he does for a few minutes
He took the cat that couldn’t piss and glued it to his head
wow
damn!! i didnt graduate till 91 !! #Lvhs
the original lvhs :)
R.I.P. One of the greats.
hes still alive..
Yes, in our hearts and in our minds. Miss you Stan...
I had tickets to see him two weeks after he died. So sad.
+Derek Cusack we will always remember the mullet.
I heard they wouldn't release the autopsy. But rumour has it men in black had removed his liver
30 years = the dreaded c word = human wind tunnel
Made me feel good when doug mentioned vegas cross streets lol
Quick interaction @ 7:05: Classic Stanhope!
the mullet foretold the myth!
kewl mullet dug! you rool
Budding 🌟
What a weird time
Nice hair, Doug!
dat hair!!!
Jesus were Mullet haircuts mandatory in 90s America? Seriously though, love Stanhope, mullet or not he's a great fucking stand up.
That hair!
I came here to find this after reading Doug's book. Apparently he haaaates that this footage exists. Says there isn't enough alcohol in the world to get him to watch the whole thing 🤣
Easy to see why. No experienced comic wants to be reminded he ever delivered stiff, hackneyed lines like "So, have you heard about this new __________ they have out?" Ecchhhhh!!! The material at the heart of it all is brilliant though...
Shits awesome what a transformation. Really refined his shit big time. But at the same time giving less of a shit every performance.
Just follow your dreams..
1:04 "fuck you" lmao
wow video looks great for how old it is
wpnvii was thinking the same
8:14 - My balls feel like a pair of maracas - CREDIT to Frank Zappa and Ray White/"Why Does it Hurt When I Pee?"
Stanhope is God.
carlos murphies....lol...another bygone food chain...lol...Oh the memories.!!
Holy shit that hair.
Damn, I can't find that old recording where he did his set with the beer money shot.
He did it regularly but stopped cause he ruined so much shirts. He was still young, far away from the suit-years.

Thank you! I couldn't find your post. UA-cam is weird.
Damn. Both are gone. -.-
