I swear I don't know why you're not a household name. I remember playing this cd in my office many years ago. After awhile the guy in the next office came to me and said "I don't know what you're listening to but I like it a lot". I popped the CD out of my player and lent it to him.
Please Lord let him see 100 before he joins mtm tvs mrs. Petrie & bro jerry.. watching his show marathon this weekend it’s all love.. no evil .. just love.. Chris you are one Angel 😇 Bless you mr. Van Dyke thanks for your ❤️
If I remember right KGSR in Austin gave this song mucho play. It was great having Darden in our town and playing his heart out for us. Simple days simple ways. Old Austin. Great times were had, they make great memories. Thanks Darden for your playing your part.
I was in Alaska in 1993. I had just left the priesthood and religious life when I first heard it. It has different meanings for everyone. For me, it reminds me that, no matter where I am, I can be sure of God's loving arms holding me. 🫂
I love how this song projects the pain love really is. Sometimes it really is hard to get but when You do keep it for as long as You can but it's inevitable to lose 😢
I just heard this song tonight in Telluride Co after 28 years. What an incredible artist, incredible evening with friends and experience! Thank you Darden! 🙏🏻 Perfect! 🦋
In 1992 I was 17 . My mom bought this cassette. My dad had just purchased a 92 crown Victoria. We went to Colorado then Yellowstone. . She bought the cassette in Loveland Colorado and had listened to it while traveling to Wyoming and Montana. Memories are great, but that's all I have.
Wow! What detailed memory of that time, thanks. I heard it a year later on a local radio station, as a newly minted soldier having just graduated Advanced Individual Training @ Ft. McClellan, Alabama.
Here I thought this was a new song that I came across on a random store radio station and sound hounded it. It kind of resonated with me in its own spiritual way. I am usually good with songs of most genres from the 80s and 90s; this one sounds vaguely familiar. I have heard some say it's "religious", which I could see I suppose from that point of view - into Jesus "loving arms" after committing a slew of sins and being forgiven. I suppose could be the hidden message? To me - I feel it's just realizing after making mistakes and someone being through it all despite it all, they are there, open arms. Either point of view is applicable really. End of the day, it's a song I feel that, even if it's a lost treasure, still sounds very modern. One of my top 10-20 favourite songs.
Late '80s... or maybe 1990? This was pretty slicked-up album production which I normally eschewed but this was the quality. That album is pretty outstanding, too. His earlier ones were more acoustic, but he still had some catchy tunes all the way thru.
Darden, if you're out there, please know there are still people who love your songwriting, and performing! This is one of my Top 10 love songs of all time - and I know a whole slew of 'em!
Darden is still out there. Doing a ton of work with Songwriting With Soldiers and tons of lives shows. His new book, "Habits of Noticing" is fantastic and will turn your day around.
This song is so underrated and need so much more recognition...I've been loving this song since I was a child and I'm 30 years old today!! This is a timeless masterpiece, it touches the soul.
I love this song. Unfortunately I forgot about it. Its been years. I woke up one morning with this song in my head. i played around on you tube trying to find it. To my amazement I'M HERE.
I have loved this song for YEARS, having heard it sometime in the 90's a few times, but never since then, and could never find out who sang it - it was so wonderful that I never forgot it and did occasional searches for it. I just found it tonight here - awesome!
My favorite song to this very day is "Loving Arms".....it will FOREVER hold a very very special place in my heart. I was only around 13 when your beautiful love song came out. I sure miss the 1990's..... everything about it.💕🎶
To show my support for Darden Smith I drove 4 hours and paid for a hotel room to attend a Darden Smith concert at New Hope Winery in PA 10/1. I should have realized it was a scam after watching the co bill Kim Richey for one hour and asked the sound engineer where Darden was and he said he was a no show. No announcement during the show, not on the Darden Smith website where I clicked to purchase the tickets or the venue website. What a scam
For some reason "sweet sweet loving arms" popped into my head this morning. I'm glad it did. Nice "loving arms" there, Darden. They came in handy for this video. 👍
In the late '80s, he was a weekend's entertainer at The Gage Hotel in Marathon, Texas. Fantastic and I stil think there are dozens of folks - but it a packed house. I kept hoping to catch him again.
This CD was in the dash of my car for 3 years, without a breatk. The Levee song was all sorts of hot - it was the odd album that I could find something relatable in every song.
I got to see him about 20 years ago. He opened for Stevie Nicks at Shoreline Amphitheatre. I bought the album right afterward. ... His set was about 40 minutes long. He did a good job, and the audience as a whole liked him.
I heard this in Memphis when it first came out. I learned it and a few other of his songs and they always went over great at gigs, even for folks that had not heard him. I am a life time fan. He is a great writer and performer. SO glad to see he is still at it.
so excited i finally hav this video. i used to hear it back in the early 90's and nvr followed thru w/lookin for it. it used to play every day in the supermarket i worked at and reminds me of the manager i had a crush on. looovee this!!!! im dancing to it right now...gotta go!!! :D
And I thought his songs from 2013 were awesome. This song didn't know it was in the 90s. But what a time to be alive for 90s music. Very beautiful it's got a Alternative Vibe to it
i was in a record store(Remember those?) and they had this playing on their stereo. I heard this song and two others off this album, went up to the cashier, asked who it was and immediately bought the album. Never heard the song on the radio, tho'. Detroit radio sux!
Oddly enough they used to play this song on a radio station in Traverse City all the time. That's where I first heard it, though most people never have. Their loss!
Back in 1993, I was in a record store(Remember those?) called Harmony House, the metro Detroit answer to Tower Records. Instead of playing their usual new wave/punk/alternative noise the staff played to show how fashionable they were, they were playing this album. After the third track, I went up to the cashier, asked who it was and was told it was Darden Smith. I then bought the cassette tape and played it to death. I never once heard him played on any Detroit radio station. But that's the Detroit area radio market. No taste for good music Which is why I stopped listening to it the day I got a car with a cassette player then CD and now an Mp3 player. Who needs them. As far as harmony House, theyre gone.
airdriver I live in Charlevoix and we had a Harmony House. I nannied for the woman who ran it, whose father started the business. Anyway SUPER nice family. Great store.
I remember that same Harmony House when I lived in Michigan from the times when my Grandma would take me to the city I cant believe how long that's been and you're right there is no Harmony House anymore very sad and unfortunate I wish CDs would become more popular again
I heard this song at work the night after I found out the man I was in love with was seeing another girl 😢 wow it’s hard to listen to after all of these years
been waiting for this song for so long, wanted to see his interpretation, expected the vid to be in B&W & him really in a motel room or something! thanks for sharing it! i get to listen it on You Tube now!
Underappreciated on the Hot 100. I think in '93. It debuted at 96 and vanished. I'm glad I heard it and was watching him then and now.
I swear I don't know why you're not a household name. I remember playing this cd in my office many years ago. After awhile the guy in the next office came to me and said "I don't know what you're listening to but I like it a lot". I popped the CD out of my player and lent it to him.

loved this song from day one even as a single guy!!!
If I remember right KGSR in Austin gave this song mucho play. It was great having Darden in our town and playing his heart out for us. Simple days simple ways. Old Austin. Great times were had, they make great memories. Thanks Darden for your playing your part.

Heard this on the radio in Florida in 1993, and still sounds good today.
This song just randomly pops into my head and it has for years. That’s the mark of great music.
Fr!!!
this song is a hidden classic, keep going back to it all the time

this great song was released in 1993, not 1992!

He is out there. He is literally on Facebook under his name Darden Smith. He even talks to his fans and likes their comments to him. Sweet guy!!💕🎶
This song is so underrated and need so much more recognition...I've been loving this song since I was a child and I'm 30 years old today!! This is a timeless masterpiece, it touches the soul.

Been searching for this for 30 years! Smooth Jazz at its best!!!
One of the greatest American love songs ever written.....
My favorite song to this very day is "Loving Arms".....it will FOREVER hold a very very special place in my heart. I was only around 13 when your beautiful love song came out. I sure miss the 1990's..... everything about it.💕🎶
This is a song that will sound just as sweet 100 years from now.

❤❤❤❤❤ truly can’t wait to feel like this song.
For some reason "sweet sweet loving arms" popped into my head this morning. I'm glad it did.
Nice "loving arms" there, Darden. They came in handy for this video. 👍
30 years ago this season, heard this on a local radio station. How different life was...
In the late '80s, he was a weekend's entertainer at The Gage Hotel in Marathon, Texas. Fantastic and I stil think there are dozens of folks - but it a packed house. I kept hoping to catch him again.
One of the best and most underplayed songs ever.
I have to agree 100% Dardin Smith himself is way underrated.
I searched for years to find this song!! I love these lyrics!!
This CD was in the dash of my car for 3 years, without a breatk. The Levee song was all sorts of hot - it was the odd album that I could find something relatable in every song.

Makes me think of how fortunate I am to have my favorite dee-jay. My wife.
Love this song. Bought the maxi cd and the cd album "Little Victories" when it came out back in 1993. Still listen to it in 2021.
I heard this in Memphis when it first came out. I learned it and a few other of his songs and they always went over great at gigs, even for folks that had not heard him. I am a life time fan. He is a great writer and performer. SO glad to see he is still at it.
I go to Memphis every single year for Elvis Week. How cool that you mentioned this. Not to mention I just dedicated this to my close friend.💕
Such a great song. Great hook. Sounds good as country, pop, bluegrass, alt. That's what makes it so good. It knows no genre...
Definitely one of my favorite 90’s songs
Miss the old days with great songs
My parents had this CD when I was little and they'd play it all the time, it brings back so many good memories. :)
For some reason this songs has been popping up in my mind from time to time over the years, now i've found it!
Heard this track when it was brand new back in 1993 on WRVR "The River" 104.5 FM in Memphis, TN.
The guitar in the beginning gives me good chills...:)
One of those songs I remember hearing when I worked at a grocery store but nowhere else lol.
this song is a masterpiece, the tones an backing vocals are unsurpassed , a classic
Still great in 2019!

My favorite Darden Smith song. I can't wait to be in my man's "loving arms"! Deven, I love you!!
And I thought his songs from 2013 were awesome. This song didn't know it was in the 90s. But what a time to be alive for 90s music. Very beautiful it's got a Alternative Vibe to it

Great tune….. yeh, it sticks with you. That’s what good songs do.
Wow always loved this one !
It's happened a again just a few minutes ago as I was waking up 😳
And I'm happy with that. 😁

I love this song but wish I had never seen this video lol
I've been thinking the same thing LOL
why is that it's a good video
@iateurcupcake he went to my high school.
another mountain
0:35 Darden, whats that toy youre holding?
is this country/pop?
The genre is good music.
It’s better than labels.
great song! he kinda look like bruce springsteen xD
And (maybe it's just me) kinda 'sound like', too!
My first thought was Bruce Hornsby, actually.
does any1 have a song meaning to the lyrics of this song, will appreciate it!
I have my own interpretation of it, but I don't usually share it since it might not be that "popular" and invite trolls. LOL
awesome song but it is not considered Country music
cannot compare to early works
like 2 dollar novels
I love this song, even if he is wearing a stupid shirt.
I prefer Juicy Fruit to Bazooka.
at least my indiscretions were sweeter than most ;)
