Some of my greatest memories are from the 80's era. The music had passion and will never be bettered. Ann Wilson was a rock goddess. Voice so powerful and unrivalled
Yes, yes it is...I always think of the 80's as not being more than 20 years ago. Then I remember my age and the fact that I was born in the 80s...and all the fun goes away LOL.
Imagine how being born in 1941 feels - if you're lucky. You won't feel older than 30. That guy in the mirror is your grandpa, not you. High school friends dropping like flies, but we still love this music. 70s and 80s were gold.
These Power Ballads are definitely NOT cheesy. They're beautiful, well-written and brilliantly performed timeless classics. Much better than the rubbish that passes for music these days.
+Alejandro Rojas Actually the word "cheesy" does have a negative connotation. I googled the word and this is what I got (the second meaning) - (informal) - "cheap, unpleasant or blatantly inauthentic." None of those adjectives can be applicable to these Power Ballads if one is a fan.

I just want to say 3 things regarding the music of my generation, the 80s and 90s. Beautiful melodies. Meaningful lyrics and amazing vocals. Interesting fact about this song. Ann Wilson doesn't sing the lead vocal, her sister Nancy does. The story is Ann couldn't sing because she was suffering from a cold and her voice wasn't sounding good so Nancy sang lead instead.
@@Magpieboy1 . . Both Ann and Nancy were sick . Nevison decided to go with Nancy . The record company loved it and asked how she got that nice raspy vocals to come out during the chorus . She said she was sick . They said “ on the next album can you get sick again ? “ true story lol

The 80's style of music needs a comeback. Each generation has their own unique algorithm. Just so happens 80's music and even 70's give a encrypted message we need a person to solve
Man I love Nancy singing. Everyone knows that Ann has this type of voice that could only be equaled by Grace Slick, but people forget that Nancy can sure sing too. Man, she's so good!
I hear ya! It was always that ABBA kinda syndrome: will it be Agnetha on lead vocal or Frida?? Same thing here. Ann or Nancy? That tension of keeping us guessing was all part of what made it irresistible!
Nancy has more in common with Celine Dion vocally than she does any of the rockers you can name. Nancy may be a kickass guitarist, but vocally she reminds me of a songbird, yeah.

Typically the backup singer will echo the line, but in this song she precedes it. This gives the song a dreamlike quality, sort of a premonitory sense of what is coming. That, to me, is what made this song most inventive and most memorable.
This 80's music has captured something that when listened to takes us out of our mundane, dumb problems and all our mental slavery. These musicians are our heroe's

Daniel...it certainly is. I cry every time I listen because of its poignant beauty and relevance to me...every second of the night I live another life.
Partly why this particular recording is beautiful was also due to the fact that Nancy Wilson was sick at the time of this recording. It added that extra gravelly and raspy quality for the emotional punch.

Rock chicks !! Don't see too many of those nowadays.
This is the kind of song you dance to or hear playing on a big date with a girl and never forget it the rest of your life because of the song along, if that makes sense...
This song reeks of the 80’s and I love it. A decade that will never be repeated
The Best Decade Ever....With The 70's Right Behind It
Agreed.. I’m lucky to be born during mid 80s to atleast witness all the great music that came out.
As far as I’m concerned the worst era in music was 2005 and up..
Lies again? Hello Manchester
why does she have an electric guitar in the video I don't hear an electric guitar in the song at all

Some of my greatest memories are from the 80's era.
The music had passion and will never be bettered.
Ann Wilson was a rock goddess.
Voice so powerful and unrivalled
Isn’t it crazy that we, who were born in the 80s, are already getting into our forties? I don’t feel that different
I'll be 40 May 11, 1981! Me either. I still feel like I'm in my 20s
May 11, 1981 here. People told me I look like I am in my 20's, 😇
Lived in the best years
These Power Ballads are definitely NOT cheesy. They're beautiful, well-written and brilliantly performed timeless classics. Much better than the rubbish that passes for music these days.
YES
+senorsalazar You're right in everything, except for the not-cheesy part :)
You seem to imply that cheesy is an inherently bad thing?
+Alejandro Rojas Actually the word "cheesy" does have a negative connotation. I googled the word and this is what I got (the second meaning) - (informal) - "cheap, unpleasant or blatantly inauthentic." None of those adjectives can be applicable to these Power Ballads if one is a fan.

I was born in 1978, I m 45 this year. Growing up as a teenager i didn't know how fortunate i was with the music of the 80s and 90s. Now at my age I've learned to love them more. I just want to say 3 things regarding the music of my generation, the 80s and 90s.
Beautiful melodies. Meaningful lyrics and amazing vocals. I only wish that the younger generation would love the music that my generation grew up with.
I'm in my 20s I love 70s to 90s.
Same here, from 74. Very fortunate to have lived through the 80s.
I’m an 80’s baby and I play this beautiful song for my family, 2000 babies ❤❤ My son born in 2007 listens to songs dating back to Sam Cooke’s time. We travel to the past through music. I’m so thankful that my family moved to a city with tons of different cultures when I was around 12, I was fortunate with influences that expanded my aesthetics.

spot on, I was born 1970 and Heart was my all time favorite band...
I love how her voice goes from subtle distortion in the chorus back to pure smoothness. Great performance.

Why musicians can’t produce this kind of music anymore? The songs produced nowadays will just be a hit for few weeks then it’s gone.
Because this was from the 80's an original, can't be replicated and doesn't need to be, just go back to the 80's
Super Zeit los
I personally think it's because pop music has grown as an industry and music has been reshaped to cater to that :(
People still make great music but it's never as popular as the music thats written to sell :/

Damn right!

This is one of the most beautiful songs of all time. Sends chills down my spine.
