I'm 70 years old. These are the songs I listened to then & I still listen to today. The difference is that now I am touched so deeply by many of them that I cry because they are so beautiful & really have a lot of meaning which escaped me back then.

I'm not black and from continents away. But I'm from that generation too and I know what you mean. Music that our uncles and aunts listened to, and which reminds us now, all these years later, of those better times.

Nothing today compares to the 80s radio
I was born in 1981, I noticed in my teens and 20's that I knew the lyrics to all these great 80's hits that i had never heard before. My mom explained that her and my dad listened to all the big 80's ballads all the time and so I knew them without even realizing it.

Turns out she was sick with a flu when they did the recording… they did multiple recordings after she was better but the flu version turned out to be better so that’s what we have. Moral of the story, always give your best,

Yes! I remember hearing this song as my dad was painting an old house in my childhood neighborhood when I was 5. Even at the time I felt it...like I knew a lifelong memory was being created even as I was the only one aware. This song takes me right back to that.

@Lateralas I agree to an extent about drug and alcohol abuse. I was born in 1980 and remember coke and crack cocaine being prevalent from the 80s throughout the early 90s. The opioid epidemic in the late 2000s (thanks, big pharma 🙄) was unlike ANYTHING I had ever seen before because it was so widespread in affecting so many different walks of life. Everyone...housewives, their kids, doctors, lawyers, teachers, the wealthy elite, middle class people, the impoverished...it sadly had a massive impact in affecting EVERYONE.

I'm almost in tears by these comments. This era was full of light, I'm a young black woman, 37. I went to bed every night listening to soft rock and had some of the brightest memories. I had a lot of trials but home was warm. The 80's was aerobics, colors, L. A. Girls, Hearts across America movement, We are the World Anthem and camp stories to die for...the world today....💔😢

You had to promote your product the old fashioned and hard way. And that was with raw talent itself and by going on cable news doing interviews about the new album. I tell people all the time being born in 1976 we barely caught the 80s but nevertheless we caught them I would never forget the 80s.
I'll be 46 this year. This stuff takes me back to middle school dances, morning radio memories as I ate breakfast. The t shirts of these bands on the girls in the school hallways. I miss the 80s.
The rock and roll that we grew up with in the 70s and 80s ended in the early 90s, and I listen to nothing but that old stuff. This generation will never know what they missed
Why musicians can’t produce this kind of music anymore? The songs produced nowadays will just be a hit for few weeks then it’s gone.

One of my all time favorites. I was in college, the HEART of 80's music was exploding and I love the song, the lyrics, the video. So fantastic and what a great band even to this day. Pure artistic talent !
If you didn't grow up in the 80s it's so hard to explain what this music did for us. For some of us this was our only escape. Listening to these songs and playing them for my chilren brings back bittersweet memories. Hearing this in 2022 wishing better for our family's and upcoming generations.

Yep. I want from 5 to 15 in that decade. My parents were wonderful, although money was very tight at the start of the decade. My time at school was sheer hell. Music and films were my refuge. Having no comparison, I thought all eras had been as great. I appreciated the 80s at the time, but in retrospect not nearly enough. The music was brash and creative, and the movies were the same. Great drama, horror, sci-fi, thrillers, comedies that were really vulgar... just a fantastic decade.
7 to 16, I came of age in the 80's! That's almost all my school years! From elementary to high school! I miss it so much(80's)!

Man I love Nancy singing. Everyone knows that Ann has this type of voice that could only be equaled by Grace Slick, but people forget that Nancy can sure sing too. Man, she's so good!

Nancy has more in common with Celine Dion vocally than she does any of the rockers you can name. Nancy may be a kickass guitarist, but vocally she reminds me of a songbird, yeah.

This song is for those people who can't get a break. The true world that we live in doesn't care. It paints a true picture of people that want to change but people love to kick them when there down. Lending a hand to help them up is out of the question. The more I learn about people the more I love my cat.

@rebeccagibson9644 I had a good friend who was an alcoholic. He loved this song and wanted another chance at life. He died from a blood clot in a rest home. I can relate, too. I have my hope in Jesus. That gets me through.

What I love most about this amazing song is that Nancy is the lead.
Ann has the unmatched power and range, but Nancy is no slouch on lead vocals. Sweet and smooth, but also raspy at just the right times.

I was born in 1978, I m 45 this year. Growing up as a teenager i didn't know how fortunate i was with the music of the 80s and 90s. Now at my age I've learned to love them more. I just want to say 3 things regarding the music of my generation, the 80s and 90s.
Beautiful melodies. Meaningful lyrics and amazing vocals. I only wish that the younger generation would love the music that my generation grew up with.

I’m an 80’s baby and I play this beautiful song for my family, 2000 babies ❤❤ My son born in 2007 listens to songs dating back to Sam Cooke’s time. We travel to the past through music. I’m so thankful that my family moved to a city with tons of different cultures when I was around 12, I was fortunate with influences that expanded my aesthetics.

My brother passed away two days ago and as I reunited with childhood friends I kept hearing this song in my mind and I remember it was just one of those hits of my early teens

Might get a lot of hatred from the 1970s Heart fans for this but this is my all-time favorite song of theirs. I discovered it while at university a decade ago and it's remained special to me ever since.
This generation today will never understand real music. So glad I was part of the 80’s and 90’s
