The action scenes as well were very captivating. I have to say, I'm quite shocked about how much I enjoyed it.
The original David Lynch Dune was pre-internet. I’m a Boomer that saw it at a theater. I could see people not getting it all around me, and i couldn’t blame them.

My husband had to literally explain stuff as we watched the movie. However, once I fully understood the movie, I loved it so much and I’m excited for part 2.
This is the best recap I've ever seen. Most people just drone on and don't think of spoilers and things like you did. Like giving special times to go to and what not. Great job and thank you so much.
I read Dune in 1967, before you, fearless UA-camr, were born! (Probably before your parents were born, hee, hee) Saw the Lynch version in my thirties. All I remember is Sting in a codpiece, and some poor soul with an accessible heart plug, so I definitely need a refresher course. 👍 Thanks for the recap.
"Dune" serves as a sci-fi allegory for American imperialism in the Middle East, with the Spice Melange symbolizing oil's pivotal role. Just as the Spice fuels the universe of Dune, oil powers global transportation and communication. Frank Herbert's choice of Arrakis as the setting mirrors Iraq's oil-rich landscape. The power dynamics between the rulers and natives in "Dune" echo the historical struggles in the Middle East. The parallels between "Dune" and real-world events highlight the intertwined relationship between the narrative and Arabic culture.
This is the best Part 1 recap on UA-cam. Your passion for the book and films shine through in this video. Thank you for sharing, I will be watching Part 2 in cinema this Saturday.
Thank you...just picked up Part II from our local library. Been decades since I've read the book. So excited for the sun to set and fire up the home theater for Pt II tonight. Sure hope it doesn't disappoint.
I watched part 1 a few years back but didn't really get it. Since part 2 was coming to streaming, I wanted to get into it. So I read the book. And then I watched the David Lynch film, then I rewatched part 1 before watching part 2. Now I'm reading Dune: Messiah and I'm hooked
Great recap! Thanks for not spending half of it talking about yourself. Good job highlighting key concepts and ideas and the small important details. You set us up to be more engaged when we see the new film!

Here’s a bit of trivia: The Bagpipe player is played by the score composer, Hans Zimmer.
OMG! My Hans! Damn good trivia bro!
Glorious!
Can be found here at 9:19
