🧐Frequently Asked Questions About Our Online Lessons:
Q❓: I have no experience with katana. Will I still be able to catch up?
A💡: You don’t need any previous katana martial arts experience to participate in our lessons.
Seki Sensei, the instructor of the online lessons, will carefully instruct you on how to handle the katana regardless of your level. You will also be able to access all the videos of the past lessons so you can watch what every other student has learned. You can also send us videos of your progress, and Seki Sensei will be happy to give you feedback.
Q❓: What is the right length of the Iaito (zinc alloy training katana) I should use?
A💡: Please purchase an Iaitō at least two blocks longer than the standard length.
The standard length for Seki Sensei is about 177cm, so he should use a 2.45 Shaku long katana. However, he uses a 2.6 Shaku-long katana that is supposed to be used by someone 190cm tall. If the katana is too short, it becomes too easy to draw, which is not good for training.
Q❓: Can I join even if I belong to a different Ryuha style?
A💡: Yes, it’s not a problem at all.
The Seki Sensei himself has trained in more than five styles and various other weapons. If you don’t want others to know that you are participating, you can join the online lessons with your camera off. To have the Sensei check your progress, you can send us a video of you practicing.

Takes ten years up to a lifetime to get skilled like the sensei. I think the most important things are to be patient and to be passionate about Kendo and about oneself.

Seki Sensei uses quick moves that are not too complex, he just knows when to do them. He’s awesome, I love learning the moves.

I have some training in the Epee and Rapier, my childhood friend's father was a French naturalized American, that competed on world level. He trained me some to be his son's, sparring dummy. I am a visual learner, I wish YT was a thing 30+ years ago, just 10 minutes in, I've learned so much already. I can not wait for the next two parts!

I’m going to follow this series with attention! Thanks for sharing your techniques!
To me it’s unbelievably fascinating how the first technique of the Koteuchi 22 Kajo is almost identical to our first technique of the Fiore de Liberi manual. I am looking forward to watch more of this and enjoy both the similarities and the differences between the styles!
I hope one day to have the luck to discuss them in person.
    Cheers!

What I really like about the last two techniques is that if your opponent is not fully prepared or if they are not gripping their sword properly, your strike to their blade could very well knock their sword from their grasp to the ground. Another thing is if your opponent is on soft ground, dirt, or sand, you could knock their tip into the ground, causing it to get stuck.

It's not hard at all. When new students show up, the senseis cover the basics in more detail for them, and it's a good review for everyone. With classes on both Saturday and Sunday, it's really quite convenient.

thank you for such good and informative content, it's a pity that I can't come to your magical country now, but I would really like to, because even here in Ukraine, we are very interested in your arts, especially in swords, I would really like to buy at least one real Japanese sword

I am curious; is Asayama Ichiden ryū related to some famous kenjutsu ryuha such as Yagyū Shinkage ryū or Taisha ryū, if not does Seki sensei personally know any headmasters from other famous ryuha

Thank you. Many of us are beginners or are coming back after multiple decade hiatus. If the quality of paid videos were up to par I would join but the camera work, audio and cross talk are awful. Fix and I buy.
