Think you are missing the point of this truck. It’s more for dirt, gravel and certain types of pavement. More small jumps and whoops. Think UDR stuff. On the right surface it’s a blast! I have no problem getting the rear end to rotate and using the throttle to steer. It can do some satisfying four wheel drifts. Definitely not fun to jump and definitely not suited for everyone.
I disagree. You're making excuses for a truck. Traxxas themselves in their launch video had this truck bashing and launching. Not one part of this truck has a handling set up. It was made to bash!
@JasonPerrinRCVlogs Not at all! Admitting it's shortcomings if anything. How many times do you think Traxxas had to shoot that? I think it's a terrible jumper in it's current belted tire configuration. No air control. You've taken it to the same place. All I'm saying is try some different surfaces and see what you think! I like the truck personally. It's a different drive. Mojave probably a better truck for most people. Maxx Slash does a couple things extremely well, other things not so much. Matches the polarizing reception its receiving.
Anyways, love that you are doing a long term series on this truck! Most reviews are one video and done. Not enough 10 pack reviews and 20 pack reviews, etc. Keep it up!

We even can see they modified the suspensions if you watch very closely and pause the video !!!
Traxxas did a big mistake with that. Again.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE TRAXXAS.
But it’s a question of honesty/integrity between a brand and its customers.
Clearly Traxxas lied about what this product is capable.
This time, ARRMA just settled the bar too high with the Mojave 4S and pushed Traxxas to do WHATEVER……

You're right man.. that was a rough run on the maxx slash. I've seen some SCT with decent air control but this one got none!😳 Thats crazy! It likes to nose dives and sideways. Not that exciting on the ground either. More power maybe 🤔? I understand SCT ain't made for launching but how come the Mojaves have good air capacities? Anyways... Big props for your honest review man..
I'm not going to give up on it. But I'm also not spending any more money on it. I'll use what I have and if it gets better great. But if not.. oh well.
Hard to watch. These are so expensive in NZ is an easy pass.

Confirms what i saw when my friend ran his for the first time, terrible handling thing and grossly overpriced. My Mojave 4S drives night and day better in every department and it’s cheaper! Great upload regardless 👍🏻
Well you cant take back a honest review, you drove it a couple times and gave a good review a couple times, now you have one bad with it you dont take back the previous good reviews....
It's not about taking those back. But the truck has a different feel when you start driving it harder.
I'm not sure the exact cause (outside of the crappy 3rd party battery connector), but this is the worst performance I've watched with a maxx slash. I know at least a couple of the videos were by people who are a bit biased toward traxxas, but I know at least a couple are from people who definitely are *not* traxxas fan boys. I'll have to do some more video watching...
Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'll pass on the maxx slash.
You have to be careful. A lot of people are looking to be on the Traxxas Creators List. And they'll say anything.
It’s like zero air control by the looks of it. I had the same issues with mine. It takes a lot of tuning
Not really a jumper though, it’s a short course truck. Notoriously bad at big jumps, the shape and tire size is all wrong for air control. It’s a parachute with tiny wheels!
I’d like to see one of these things on a proper outdoor race track, with the right tires and some shock tuning.
Great video Jason. Man , that thing sure likes to lawn dart . Like you said , in Canada we pay a lot more for these toys. It’s tough to justify $1000, $1500 etc for our hobby and then we get it home and have to upgrade them . Appreciate the honesty of your channel, don’t ever stop that !!!
That truck should have been tested more. The problem is the tires don’t give that extra movement among other things. For $700 This truck seems like a pain in the arse.
It really is. If I didn't already have a lot of the parts, I would have gave up on this a long time ago.
I'm not big into high jumping my SCTs like this. So a lot of the flaws that people complain about with the Maxx slash don't really affect me that much. I picked it up with the recent dual 3s batteries/dual charger promo Traxxas had recently so I also feel like I got a much better value out of the truck.
I seen the max slash at my local hobby shop for very first time tbh the size of it is awesome but just don't like how it performs out the box traxxas should of taken more time with it to fix the problems i think its ok on very small jumps or dessert runs but that's it until a right tune which it can take time to get it dialed in for the bigger sends and yeah them ec5 connectors can be too much some of the times y I use lil bit of electrical tape for big sends but anyway great bash man 🤙🏼

I was waiting for this video, because i bought one too, and i came to the same conclusions you did. It has potential, and ive been working on mine to make it better, but out of the box, its hard not to feel like youve been ripped off. Cutting more holes in the bed section of the body goes a very long way to help air control, and limit that bad parachuting this thing has. Ill be watching to see what else you vome up with to help yours run better. Great vid as always.
Maxx slash looks like an undercooked, poorly designed cash grab to me.

Hey jason great video as usual from u sorry for long comments but I noticed u are still using the radiolink 8x are u having any issues out of it ? I have one as well but having three issues with mine just wondering if ur in the same boat
1) range I keep losing bars and afraid to go any length of distance
2) throttle after a few runs I noticed I have to keep adjusting my throttle rate
3) radio behavior with my Traxxas cars I've lastly noticed that with all other brands it's ok but with Traxxas braking and throttle are both act weird loses some braking and the throttle is slight tap and it's full blast tried everything o can think of nothing works so had to go back to Traxxas receiver and remote only Traxxas cars I can operate safely with my radiolink 8x are ones that I've switched out motor and esc's
I've had no issues with either the rc8x or the RC6GS.

A stock reg slash will beat this $1000.00 brick. That's why traxxas did a Surprise release and we fell for it.
Sorry but that thing is junk. Hey if you want to be able to drive it you have to throw another 600 in upgrades or it’s worthless and then even with that it’s still just meh. Looks sweet. Shelf queen it like Traxxas meant it to be
