Love love love this wee song ❤
Blue Mink fan from Holland here😎.
Get in! Blue Mink - Madeline - great U.S.Import to UK music scene.
Brilliant song
Heard on Boom Radio uk January 2023. Like since when was this great tune ever played?
Boom Radio. Where fab oldies play on.
Loved Blue Mink as a teenager . Hugely underrated as a group even though they had a good run of hits . The affection between Roger and Madeline was so obvious . Another thing I've been reminded of when seeing all this wonderful stuff turn up on You Tube is what a great stylish (groovy ! ) dresser Madeline was . She nailed it every time .
ama😊zing telly Micheal
Madeline Bell - Great underrated British Soul singer. They made some Cathy records.
Madelines american. But never mind.
Just love this song....Hadn't heard it in ages but still timeless 😁
These guys were (are?) some of the best session players around. This line up could quite happily play three sets at Ronnie Scott's - no problem! Herbie Flowers is still going strong - and as great as ever!
Seem to have been forgotten, Blue Mink were a fine group with Miss Bell a terrific singer.
Fantastic group, amazing vocalists together
I was 15, no problems just fun and music like this.
Great song from short lived Blue Mink who had a few excellent hits penned by Roger Cook & Roger Greenaway who wrote many hits for other artists.
Hi from New Zealand. we had this song here back in early 70's and loved it. if any Blue Mink members come here for a visit drop us a line from ur biggest NZ fan :)
just love everything maddy bell does.
Great song I only 16 in 1973 thay where good years my god I wish I was 16 again
Love this
A great track that really should be included on any glam rock or 70's compilation.
I have it on a K-tel LP compilation from 1974. Still in excellent condition.
What a great song. I was 11 when this came out, it's about the only song I can remember from this era - when I need a wee boost - I find myself here !
So simple back in the day. Awesome.
13 when this was in charts and i still listen to blue mink songs in 2014
I first heard this pop gem on the K Tel album Fantastic.
Nada mas y nada menos que Sir RAY COOPER, en la percusion todo un señor show man
one of my all time fave songs , the mink were a brill band , happy times and maddy was so cool
I loved Blue Mink x
The great Herbie Flowers on bass...one of rock's unsung heros!
Herbies been a big influence on my own bass playing for many years now
@@uglycustard4488 Same. Herbie came up with some roar driven bass lines. This song had a huge impact on me growing up.
Then later as a teen i realised why!!!
And he wrote a number one , grandad by Clive dunn and of course bass on walk on the wild side Lou reed .
Ray Cooper on tambourine , the worlds greatest percussionist who ended up playing with Elton John and Eric Clapton among others . nothing beats a Cooper conga solo
That man’s a legend - the greatest
Barry Morgan was one hell of a drummer!!
Damn this is a good pop song
Herbert Flowers on bass as well!
Saveyourkisses4me, you get the big THUMBS-UP from me for posting this vid'. This was a favourite song of mine when it first came out. Madeline Bell is one awesome singer and no mistake. :)
Fantastic drummer Mr Barry morgen!
Yes, Blue Mink where big down under. I have most of the singles too. I also have their Australian comeback singles on their Target Record label from 1976-78. I heard through the pipe-line last year that Roger Cook and Madeline had laid down some songs for a new album. Hopefully one day soon they may be available?
Yes Ann Odell. She all released some nice solo albums.
Marvellous find.
Very hard to find! Thanks!
great entertainment, thanks!
Very hard to find. Great.
Don't forget the lovely Ann Odell on piano.
bravos,
Yes Ann Odell. Very talented and underrated. I have her album too in my collection. John holman
Think this was stuck at number 9 in the chart in 1972 .Should have been 1.
1973
Incidentally - who forgot to credit Ann O'Dell on the piano?
Madeleine Bell
Possibly it is? as its only a few years from around the time Hurdy Gurdy Man was cut.
Great!!!
Looks like Ed Banger records around 2007 ;)
Yes bass player is of course Herbie Flowers. Who was with Marc Bolans group and also with John Williams group SKY.
I loved this song, was 11 when it was in charts but never forgot it, ps, why is the girl playing the piano not being show save for a quick peep at the camera??
Could be because she had only just joined the band and they were about to pack it in? She was called Ann Odell and also played in the very good prog band Fusion Orchestra. Blue Mink were great, weren't they?
I was brought up drinking Camp coffee.
Yes I remember that coffee lol real camp that was x
Like the way they look as if they are actually enjoying themselves performing. BTW, sure I have seen the bass guitarist in Mark Bolan's (later) group? May be wrong...please advise!
Yes that's Herbie Flowers on bass in Trex from 1976 to 1977
Also bass on walk on the wild side by Lou reed , that's his bass at the start .
I wonder if that is the Les Paul Custom that Alan Parker used to record the "Hurdy Gurdy Man" guitar overdubs with?
I dunno, but i really want it to be.
@@toddblanks It isn’t…at first I thought it was a Les Paul Custom that Parker used on “Hurdy Gurdy Man”, but Parker later confirmed to me that he used a transitional black 1960 “Les Paul” with the then new “SG” shape, though it was still called a “Les Paul” at the time.
@@AllenGarberGuitarFun Yes'' im sure ive seen that les paul at some point.
Many people mistake jimmy paige for playing lead on hurdy gurdy.
I believe jimmy did play on some of dons singles, but not on hurdy gurdy. But i also think there were various sessions at the time. I do know that jimmy played a black les paul custom on sunshine superman in 66.
How did you get to speak to alan. Im a youngish fan. Your so lucky. I'd love to speak to some of my inspirational heros such as alan.
Do you know the bass player who was in the welsh band amen corner? He's an incredible player, his name escapes me. Someone taylor!
@@toddblanks Page confirmed that he did not play on the “Hurdy Gurdy Man” track, but that he did play on other songs within the LP. He did indeed play his Black Beauty Les Paul Custom on “Sunshine Superman”. Incredibly, I met a friend of Parker’s who saw a comment of mine on a UA-cam clip of “Hurdy Gurdy Man” and he put me in touch with Alan through e-mail. He provided me a list of the gear that he used on the session. I’m a guitar and I’m 50, but I’ve always been very into the music of the 60s as well as the music that was more contemporary to me in the 70s and 80s. John Paul Jones also confirmed to me personally that it was Parker on “Hurdy Gurdy Man” when I met him after his solo show at House of Blues New Orleans in 2000. I’ve been very lucky to have met many heroes of mine very randomly!
The bass player in Amen Corner was Clive Taylor!
@@AllenGarberGuitarFun Nice. Thank you for that.
Yes, clive taylor has a website if your interested. Its not live, but i like clives playing on their 1968 hit High in the sky!
