The reason for them sounding “older” is because they admire the Beatles.... particularly Lennon. But I had to be that guy

Oasis created and influenced so much 90s style and fashion. It was crazy how big they were.

My personal opinion is that if they sound “older”, it’s because they grey up in a super intense violent home, before their dad left and abandoned them. Watch Supersonic if you haven’t, they make so much sense as people after having watched the documentary. Kids who grow up like that, myself included tend to have to grow up a little faster than ideal but it forces you to process the world far sooner than you might have to as a kid. Bitter wisdom, if you like. Fuck man, I’m 46 right now, but when I hear this song I’m back in London in my twenties, full of hope, life and wonder. Songs like this are a time machine. These boys didn’t give a fuck, they were pumped full of emotions and had to find an outlet. I’m so happy to have them be part of the soundtrack of my twenties, Fucking Oasis man, proper brilliant.

"Obviously in the 90's there wasn't a lot of conceptually deep, music videos..." my god, the nerve of the youth.

Yes, because todays music videos are so much better right? Does anyone even remember any great music from 2000 to today? This dude wasn't even around in the 90s. Unbelievable.

Yeah, old songs may don't have deep conceptual music videos but they're meaningful af unlike today's songs just full of cars in the music video and some naked girls with unmeaningful lyrics.

The old man as you mentioned was Patrick Macnee, the actor who played John Steed in the 1960s television series The Avengers, apparently a favourite of Oasis. It was filmed at 1145 Arden Road in Pasadena, California on 4 December 1995.[24] It features the band being driven by McNee in a black cab to a mansion similar to the Playboy Mansion and performing the song there; a group of women dressed in white also occasionally lip sync to the lyrics.

Like the nerd that I am, I looked it up a while back when the house was up for sale and spent an hour pausing the music video and comparing the pics. God knows how I'm not a virgin.

The women are very reminiscent of the ladies in The Avengers ie. Emma Peel and Tara King.

"In the 90s there weren't very deep conceptual music videos"
Yes there were...Radiohead's videos for example were very conceptual, and so were Massive Attack's and many others.

They were heavily beatles inspired, hence the older sound. Also, further you dive into 90s, behond its pop, it does get deep

It's a British music video, they historically mean nothing. All rubbish. Greatest song of the 90's though, why spoil it by accessing it through the horrible music video?
