This is the first video where the guy recording actually tells us the specs of the bolts instead of having to go find it out yourself and I LOVE YOU FOR THIS
Why the fuck is the ball joint spinning when tightening the nut and yours just snugged up perfectly
Hey man I just want to say I recently bought an 04 Z and you have alot of extremely helpful videos, thanks alot
Great video man!! Nobody else ANYWHERE talks about that tapered sleeve and it’s a total showstopper if that thing doesn’t fit. So thanks for that. 🙏🏻
@SchizoAction thank you brotha! 🙏
Unless your like me and both compression arms are seized to the fucking body I can't get it off for shit
Lmfao, yeah we always use anti-seize on the frame studs when installing arms because of this problem lol. Sometimes you need an air hammer to get them off
Damn, I wish my G35 was that clean on the bottom. From the rust belt - Alberta, Canada
That sucks, occasionally we see cars from the rust belt and it's not good
Another easy to follow, informative vid...thanks, from not so sunny Scotland
Did you have to put load on the suspension before torquing it down?
i never comment on videos really but man good job on this video. this is probably by far, the best video i’ve watched when trying to learn something about my z. thank you for taking the time to do this man
Thanks bro! Appreciate your support 🙏
Are the driver and passenger side compression arm both the same, for example when I’ll order this part do I order 2 of the same part or are they two different pieces??
Negative, they are side specific
@@fullthrottleperformance copy that, thank you so much for the quick response 🦾
when i heard torque spec. i was like 1 ugga dug oh compression arm 2 ugga dugs
Good video and I recently had my compression arms replaced after seeing your video with the chassis mounted camera showing the movement over bumps.
Very interested in you crank pulley replacement, any chance of a guide for a driveway replacement as move folks don't have access to a ramp. Keep up the good work 👍
I've wanted to start doing videos without using the lift, but I'm usually slammed with work, and try to get jobs done as quick as possible. But I am gonna start doing videos like that soon
This was super helpful! I'm looking at an 07 Z to buy but it needs new compression arms and front struts, so I wasn't sure if that was going to be an expensive fix. Really helped me!
Congrats for the video. Informative and precise. Thanks from Panama!
You short cut the video to make it look easy do the video the right way with all the bull chiet the it comes with .
Everything is on the video bro, I speed up parts so the video isn't an hour long
Thanks for this vid! I’m working on these this weekend
No problem brotha! Good luck!
Hey Charlie my 350z stared to overheat in bumper to bumper traffic, it's got 120,000 miles on it. Do you think the water pump is going bad? temp came back down to normal after I got thru the jam.
Might be air in the system! Maybe..
Thanks, looks like the driver side cooling fan has failed!
Glad to see you found the issue, sorry for the late response, I'm literally replying to hundreds of comments right now lol
Woot - You’re back! Missed you brother.
Hahaha, it's been a process to move and get everything setup lol. About time I get back to the uploads haha
How those arms holding up?
They're still on the car, sold it a long time ago. But the customer still comes back for service occasionally and they're still on it
Hello do you need a front Wheel alignment after the install ?
If you don't remove any steering components I don't believe so
What’s going on Charlie? Hope everything is well. About to throw Z1 test pipes on this Monday. And I’m glad you made this video cus I need to do my compression rod bushings soon 😂
Awesome, it's so funny cause I've replaced these arms many times before lol. But never on my own car lol. I will be finishing up my suspension very soon too tho
Mine won’t even come off🤦🏾♂️
Sometimes they're stuck asf
U should have specified that you where talking about newton meters and not foot pound ms my g
At 8:34 can those studs be changed??
Technically, yes. But not just an easy swap.
How do you stop the ball joint from spinning?
Sometimes, they get stuck, there's no easy way. You can use a wire brush, and some PB Blaster / Liquid Wrench on the threads, and that'll clean them up and make it a little easier.
Dood my passenger side came off no problem. My drivers side was like fused on to the stud. It was freaking crazy how many hours it took to get off with heat ,sledgehammer, and grinding wheel.
It's happened to me too lol, sometimes I have to use an air chisel 😆
@@fullthrottleperformance wowzers.
Hey I wanted to ask if your shop was in phoenix. I was thinking you were in arizona
@@matthewsetzer5251 I'm actually in California, in Sacramento
@@fullthrottleperformance oh ok nm
took me about 7 days three hours at a time....used a grinder carefully trying not to damage that stud and finally removed with a dremel......what a fuc.... nightmare.
How did the Mevotech compression arms hold up?
My God Man! That video was perfect. Thank you for your time
I’m gonna do the idler delete but can’t find the belt. Is the gates K060455 the right one. It’s 45 1/2 inches?
Sorry for the super late response. I believe that is the correct Gates part number
By the way, you have a awesome UA-cam channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks man!
Cool channel too man!
интересно как делается развал?
Hey bud , just a question for you , did you add grease to the ball joint boot or you left it empty , I just bought the same lower control arm and can't really tell if I should grease ?? Please and thank you
Sorry for the late response. You shouldn't need grease, they're pre-greased
Hey, got any tips on if one of the 14mm bolt heads are starting to strip? Tried to replace mine with SLP compression bushings but felt them strip. thanks
Just try to retap them, that's the only real thing you can do, drop the brace and get out your tap and die set. If the brace is loose you'll hear vibrating on the engine cradle/sub frame
Great vid. What are the options when the compression arm frame stud is snapped? Not many good videos showing how to fix.
Honestly, I usually get a frame cut of that portion, then bring it to a frame shop to install. I've heard of ways to fix them but haven't personally done it myself
bro get to the fucking point dawg..
Can you do a 350z (preferably HR) break booster delete? I can’t find it anywhere
I'll ad it to the list but not gonna be super soon as I have no need for it at the moment. Sorry for the super delayed response
Where did you get these torque specs from?
I’m doing this and the nut that goes on the compression arms won’t tighten because the ball joint spins. Do I need a new knuckle?
Does your new ball joint on the compression arm have a cone? If not then it'll need to be transferred from the old arm(s). If it does and the arm is new then it's bad
amazing video, Thank you!!
I see you are doing everything I did with your Engine except the radiator. The pulley delete kit was not that bad.
Hello, could you do a video on how to bypass the passenger occupant sensor like you did with the airbag sensor video?
I'll ad it to my list :)
I have been thinking about getting the Z1 under drive pulley for my 07. I don't live to far from Z1 and hoping to get up there soon to get tuned.
Let me know how you like it, I also wanna go with a JWT lightweight flywheel with the clutch kit from them.
bro I need ur help on somethin
Your the best
Do you have to realign the front end after doing this?
After replacing any suspension parts, it's always recommended to get an alignment. I do
How much would labor for something like this cost?
I charge 125 install for new arms
Any advice on the compression arm spinning can’t get it off 😢
Get a pickle fork, apply pressure to the joint while using an impact.
Definitely need to pull the rev up out of the white G35 and do a turbo build
Dudeee! Exactly what I was thinking lol
I have a question
Thankyou ....
.for your videos bro...
Recently dropped the brace and after putting it back on, i hear alot of clanking down there idk whag i did wrong
Great vid as always
I noticed my rear driver wheel is more cambered then every other wheel
What could cause this?
My bro said it could be the strut
I’m not sure
Is there any way to adjust the camber?
Yeah, there's a bolt on the sub frame connected to the lower control arm. It has an ovaled shape washer, that washer is for your stock camber adjustment
Full Throttle
Thanks so much man
Where did you order the arms from?? Tia
Rockauto.com
Hi, Can you do a rear main seal on an automatic G35?
Sorry for the super late response. When I get one in with it needed I will
Bull shiii I can’t tighten up the cotter pin side from the c arm. Just keeps spinning..new bushings already ripped trying to clamp it to keep it from spinning..how did u get the bottom side of c arm tighten up? Thanks and please
Hey did you ever find the answer cuz that’s what I’m going through rn, I can’t even get an alignment cuz I cants torque them down due to the spinning. I have tried putting more pressure, I’ve tried clamping. They don’t stop.
What brand are your compression arms?
Not everyone watches the whole vid Justin, lol.
Sorry for the super delayed response
Yes, they're mevotech
Where did you buy these arms?
Rockauto.com
I have a question Charlie
I just now put my compression rods on and now when i press the brakes (on a roll) i get a clonk any help would be appreciated
Great video man, very informative, if I may ask a dumb question why do you need to replace the compression arm just for the ball joints . Thanks
Excuse me neighbor can I borrow your ladder?
Keep it up with the Z and G bro!💪 thanks for the lessons
Thanks bro! I appreciate the support
Should there be any up and down play on there arm? My car wanders on the road and I’ve already replaced literally every front suspension component but the compression arms and they have pretty good up and down movement, I suspect the bushings are shot...I would appreciate any good tips!
They shouldn't have a lot of excessive play. I'd replace them, if you've replaced everything else, I'd replace the compression arms and get an alignment
Question will bad compression rod bushings give bad camber?
Great video
do you have to preload it???
Not the compression arm
Should i put grease on the compression arm side with the 19mm?
I lived in sacramento for a year lol
It's an awesome area for the car scene, where'd you move?
Where can I get the chassis studs from? My passenside stripped and won't tighten up.
How did it go?
Back to this video after 4 years again lol
Hope all is well Charlie!
Stay up fam
Thanks bro!
The bushings on my compression arm are stuck on the stud any advice
Sometimes they're really tough to get off. If you have a compressor, the best way I've gotten the rust "welded" ones off is to get an air hammer/chisel and spray liquid wrench or pb blaster overnight on the top and up thru the bottom. Then used the chisel portion on the side of the arm to rotate the arm and break it loose. Then use a pry bar to get it off. If you live in a cooler climate state that salts roads in the winter, that's probably the best bet before heat. Just be careful, the compression arm stud is not bolt on or bolt off. Don't damage the stud
Wish you the best of luck, sometimes it sticks removing them
*sucks
@@fullthrottleperformance thanks bro imma give a shot and let you know
This a great video man thanks.
Thanks bro!
What about the lil stud or its called the balance weight i guess should i take the old one off and put it on the new compression rod?
That's a steering bump stop, it stops the wheel angle at a certain degree
Great video man! One question, the arms I got said not to fully torque the arms until the suspension is at ride height. Any advice on that?
Yeah for upper control arms, and OEM style rubber bushings, it's recommended to torque these bolts when the vehicle is at ride height. Be kinda difficult for the compression arms tho
Sorry for the super delayed response
@@fullthrottleperformance makes sense enough. I appreciate the response, better late than never. Your videos helped me so much basically rebuilding my Z over the past few months, really appreciate it man.
@@doctorlobsteroctopus Awesome man! Glad I could help, I'm starting an engine build series very soon. Videos will be back shortly
@@fullthrottleperformance awesome man, that will be incredibly helpful for many as well. Glad to see you'll be back on the video grind, keep up the great work as always man. Looking forward to more content!
Before starting the job when the car is on the ground, measure from the wheel arch on the body to the center of the hub. Then, after you fit up the new compression arm and finger-tighten the fasteners, use a jack to raise the hub to the distance you previously measured from the wheel arch, torque down the fasteners and you're good to go
Yes FINALLY! I've been trying to figure out what that piece is and everyone I talked to had no idea what it was. Thank you for making this video
Austin McGee also know as the rearward lower control arm
Pretty easy install... the damn impact isnt strong enough I had to use a breaker bar with like a 5' cheater bar
Very helpful btw, saved me a lot of money
Excellent video.
Thanks bro!
where did u get the cones? my new compression arms didnt come with any thinking of renting a puller to get original cone off and using if i cant find any to buy
You'll have to use a 3 jaw puller and re-use your old ones
@@fullthrottleperformance yo thank you bro i appreciate it i got the job done with the 3 jaw puller like u recommended
How do I buy parts from you
Great Video
Why are the torque specs so different than what it reads in my G35 2007 mechanics manual ?
All of my readings are out of the factory service manual you can find on nicoclub.com
@@fullthrottleperformance Thank you...
@@fullthrottleperformance There are 3 units of measure....N-m(kg-m, ft-lbs).... the N-m, kg-m, and foot-lbs.....the foot-lbs is what I use....but in the video I think it was referring to the Newton Meters......because of the higher numbers, not sure...I was wondering why the number in the video mentioned were so high....it seems to be referring to Newtons Meters not the foot-lbs...
super helpfull thank you!!!
What the name of the boat that you got to put the other end up on
I've run my boat off to my lower control arm with the one with the bushing goes up on I need to get one how I go by getting it
Thanks 🇫🇷
Having trouble tightening down compression rod, the 19m bolt that goes to the balljoint goes on so much, then at a certain point just keeps spinning and won’t allow me to tighten it any further. Any tips ?
Did you figure this out?
Amadeus_skates yeah. So i had actually ordered my compression rods from z1 . And the fuckers threw me off my including the tapered seats. Except tapered seats are supposed to be bought separately. And or reused off old ones. Some asshole basically threw some random ass tapered seats in with my compression rods. That threw everything off for me. The tapered seat is what takes the slack out of the bolt and allows you to torque down the nut properly. Once i ordered the correct tapered seats for my compression rods everything went smooth and was able to torque to spec.
Amadeus_skates so if youre having the same problem. Really make sure you’re using the correct tapered seat for your compression rods by either ordering rhe correct ones or reusing the ones off your old rods. But if you are still having trouble a good trick is using 3/4 lock nut washer to take away even more space which will help in getting it torqued down.
Make sure to re-use your old cone thats on your old balljoint! You need a “Tie Rod End and Pitman Arm puller” tool from autozone. Part #25297. Fits perfectly to get the cone out. Once you get that cone out put it on your new compression arm. Try to use new hardware but sometimes they dont work, i like to use my old one. Also using a washer will help.
Make sure to tq down to spec, i didnt though.
Thanks.
Tried to do this today, the bolts holding my brace were just snapping 😞
Frank Fratta did you get it fixed? Or what ended up happening?
@@V37Jus Didn't get it fixed yet
Hey man
My engine started knocking
Any good places you would recommend to order a replacement from?
Your in California right?
I’m in Kansas
Few of the eBay listings I saved ship from CA
Yeah, there's a lot of shops around in Cali lol. What year do you have?
Full Throttle 2003
I’m in Kansas but almost every listing on eBay is in california
Yeah, try looking up Nissan Dismantlers near you. Call them and see if they have a VQ in stock
Still need one?
Full Throttle
No I got one off eBay from a shop in Cali
Cars been running great just need to replace the crank pulley seal
I really appreciate the help tho dude
How much of a difference did that make?
They make a considerable difference if your's are already bad
My car clunks sometimes when I turn that wheel and it feel like one side is lower than the other could this my problem ?
Mine has the same issues i'm dealing with this right now, so the other side (driver) is fine not rubbing on my tire (UCA). i am also wondering if this is the problem.
