    So, I changed my ball joints this past weekend on my 06 G35x AWD and everything went well. The BJL148 fit fine and I just reused cone seat that was on there already. Thankfully driving is much better with these installed.
    Thanks again for your video.

    So you took the entire knuckle off just to take them in and have someone else actually press the ball joint in? Did you have a bogus ball joint press or missing the correct cups/sleeves?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Рік тому

      The ball joint press did not fit and I needed to take the car out of town the same weekend, so I took the control arm in to a shop to have them press the ball joints

    So is it missing a washer ? On the new ball joint or does it just take the cone shape spacer ?

      this question needs to be answered. I was actually working on mine and while I was trying t remove the nut (it was stuck on the bal joint) it just fell through the hole with the nut still on...

    The location of these bolts etc should apply the the Nissan 350z correct?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

      Yes, especially since my g35 is not all wheel drive, so it should be the same

    Why didn't you use the impact wrench on the tires once you jacked the car up? Thank for the walk through video.

      I try to use the tools people will most likely have. My friend has a lift and I turn him down to be more relate-able to the viewer. Thanks for watching.

    I got a g37x I been hearing squeaking noise from front suspension an the other day there was extra weight an the squeaking got louder an front end dropped a little bit probably lower ball joint or dry bushing wheel doesn't wobble or clunk

      It was a rental ball joint press and it didn’t fit on the control arm where it bends. The ball joints seemed to be good until I sold the car not long ago

    quick question so if that cone isn't on top of the ball joint will that will it ruin the ball joint

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  6 років тому

      Anthony Beacham Ultimately it might, but you won’t be able to tighten the nut down without it. It will still be loose and just spin.

    Hi Dan, what is the purpose of the lower ball joints? I saw you replaced the ball joint itself but the shop told me that they will replace the entire control arm as well. Are they right?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  5 років тому +2

      It allows the the knuckle wheel and steering to be able to flex at the joint. If they do not have the proper tools, it would be easier for them to buy a knuckle/control arm with the ball joint already pressed in. It sounds like it’s just their preference, but as seen in the video it can be replaced without a new control arm

    Sir this video helps a lot. I only have some question though, first what is the part number for the ball joint and the cone rubber that you used. Second, can i used this for my 2002 nissan skyline 350? Thanks in advance and hoping for your quick response.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    I have the same ball joints. Did you have to add more grease to them once installed or was the amount provided with the joint enough? Also the rubber cap seals on mine did not come fully seated to the joint....

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  7 років тому

      The cap wouldn’t fit over mine either. The grease was full at the time of install, so I didn’t need to add more

    Would you be able to do a video on how to replace/change the Engine mounts and/or transmission mount(s) on a [2006] Infiniti G35 using simple tools like jack stands, jack lifts, wrenches?...like a DIY at home.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

      on these nissans I would replace all control arms you can afford and get an alignment. The bushings fail pretty easy. I replaced the lower control arms as well on this car

    excellent video, one of the best tutorials ive seen. i have an 03 skyline gt350 (i just moved back to the US after nearly 20 years in Japan. So, i cant bring myself to calling it an infiniti). Been hearing some squeaking periodically when i go over bumps. thought it was the sway bar bushings, so i put new ones in yesterday. but the squeak is still there. could the squeak be coming from the ball joints. now, full disclosure: i did not grease the swaybar bushings before installing them. would that cause squeaking? The old bushings looked fine. Could it be that they just needed lubrication? and finally, are those moog ball joints you bought? i like that they are serviceable. thanks in advance for your help.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  5 років тому

      It’s possible on the squeaking, but many things cause it. the brand I used was mevotech. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031H6YZO/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=2004047-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B0031H6YZO&linkId=919bb561ef49bdc0a38ce02e68be0e8b

      thanks man. so you think its worth getting under there again, remove the swaybar bushings and applying some lithium grease. ok, I do that when the rain eases up

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  5 років тому

      blackpassenger Eventially you will want to add the grease, so if you’re going to do something else like ball joints or tear it apart sometime soon, I’d say do it then
