I am a FL Studio user. Yours is the first video that I watched to get started with Cubase. And I understood it 100% in just 1hour - because of your clarity and your teaching pace. I must say that Cubase is very organized and more intuitive with reference to composing music. P.S. And yes, I subscribed to your channel. Have a Blessed day, Craig.
I’m also switching from FL Studio. The way things are organized on Cubase helps me a lot to focus on the music instead of managing the mess of patterns and channel rack entries.
@@adelly.s Yes, sometimes patterns can get messy (especially when there are lots of patterns). I still have to learn how arranging is done in Cubase. Personally, I liked the "Orb composer" and "Captain Plugins" kind of workflow - where ideas are arranged in separate blocks and then you just arrange the blocks to compose your whole song. Cubase doesn't have patterns instead it has "versions". You create different versions for the instrument part and they are neatly tucked underneath. P.S. FLStudio is also good. But as you said, Cubase helps us to focus on everything in one view - much better.
It still amazes me how Cubase is so incredibly powerful and yet few people consider it in the top 3 DAWS. Great video, I have 11 now and thinking of upgrading.
Many professionals consider it a top DAW, but a big reason why it isn't talked about that frequently among everyone else (compared to Ableton etc) is that it is much more difficult to pirate (and required a dongle prior to 12).
@@ZombieLincoln666 I wish I purchased Logic, this software is the most unused friendly piece of crap I've ever used. Way to many facets to get it going.
@@proteus1 Just needs practice, the efforts will pay and so your projects. Ambitious software for ambitious projects, unless you want to be the next Martin Garrix or so, Cubase is ultimately great.
I've been putting off trying to learn Cubase all year because it was so intimidating and new and scary tbh lol. I've been learning but not consistently at all. I'm only 30 minutes in, taking notes as I go, and I already feel so much better and Cubase doesn't seem so scary/intimidating anymore for me. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Awesome! You video was an amazing refresher for a guy that hasn't used a DAW since 15 years ago! Just upgraded my old Cubase 6 to Cubase 12 Pro and getting things setup, and your tutorial just gave me what I needed to regain the full passion of recording my songs! Can't wait to restart recording! Thanks and you're a good teacher (pacing, spirit, attitude, everything)!
Props for having the best Cubase tutorial I've seen yet. Easy to follow and straightforward. I just want to add that Window's "High Contrast" mode is causing problems with the menu bar in Cubase. The bar will stop working after you click on a few things, such as Studio settings. Google had mostly old postings with people blaming Nvidia Cards. Turns out you have to turn off High Contrast to use Cubase; Left Alt+Left Shift+Print Screen to turn it on and off. It's the kind of thing you never would have guessed.
Brilliantly and simply explained as easy to follow. I have been using Cubase on and off for years, but my knowledge of the basics was getting weaker and weaker with every new release. This was a perfect refresher, especially as it is on the latest version so you know you are not re-learning things that are now out of date. Excellent
Very informative tutorial. Well paced and nicely presented for the complete novice. I cant resist watching these even though I've been using Cubase for 30 years and I'd consider myself a pretty experienced user. Suffice to say that I still picked up a few handy tips from this. Watched right to the end!
I just entered into the Cubase world few days ago, and found your video in the top of the list to learn. I have been going step by step with you, learning and practicing. A BIG THANK YOU Tutorialism! Very well phased tutorial and also inspiration to keep creating music! I came from FL STUDIO to CUBASE, 12 PRO... a HUUUUUUU(x100)GE DIFFERENCE! Love both, but Cubase now is my new relationship haha.
Wow, good to know that I am at the top of the list. I personally think that learning different DAWs is the same as learning different instruments. No one thing or technique is better than the other, they are just different things for different sounds/songs!
Steinberg should include the link to this tutorial when you purchase Cubase. Excellent start, you had me up and running in less than 10 minutes. Thanks a mil for taking the time out to upload this video....better than fussing around with any manual.
Thanks for the video congrats on the baby, since I heard your announcement I replayed this tutorial and and I just noticed at around 35 minutes when you were drawing the automation looked like you drew in a pregnant woman. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
very chill and good video bro. i appreciate your style, you didnt go too shallow and neither did you go too much into the details, just the perfect balance for a beginner
thanks so much i'm returning to cubase as my DAW after a very long break and this vid just nailed all the main points as well as many i wouldnt have probably used unless it was in the vid so thanks again :)
Thanks for this journey into Cubase it was a very helpful introduction. I was lost the first time I opened it and now I almost feel at home with tons of creative ideas and last but not least the courage to dig deeper. Thanks again
Hi Craig, thank you for a great tutorial. I’m half way through my my ‘mirror’ of your track. Already I’ve experimented (fun) and it’s sounding different! Yet, your tutorial has been crucial in providing me knowledge on how to use Cubase 12 pro. Also, Craig, what an amazing bit of kit Cubase 12 pro is and I’m very excited to continue finding out more on this DAW’s capabilities.
Me too would love a "60-minutes Intermediate's Guide" from Craig! Would be awesome now that the Beginners's Guide is well assimilated (since it was so well taught)!
Brilliant Craig! I've been using Cubase for over a year now and your 60 minutes have filled in so many gaps for me that countless other UA-cam vids have not. Thanks for helping us all.
Brother - I'm very happy with this tutorial!! I've been using Cakewalk for 20 years, and while I've enjoyed success with it, Cubase will OBVIOUSLY give me more with greater ease. I'll be digging into your other vids for deeper dives.
I’m about to switch from Protools to Cubase, (doing less audio work these days and more MIDI composing) So I’ve been binging videos like this to learn it inside and out. I’m amazed at all the possibilities for efficiency and workflow!
Hi. I am so grateful for you to have made this video. I use it as an excellent reference tool when I am recording some of my ideas. You should be working for some of these companies that are creating so many products in music. Anyway I just wanted to thank you again for making this video. I use it as my little Bible for Cubase 12. I pray that GOD will continue to bless you financially and spiritually for all the knowledge that you are sharing with us beginners. I am still looking forward to you doing another video on showing us how to use the FlexPhraser. I tried to save the first video that you did on the FlexPhraser but, UA-cam said it was taken down. Please, please, please do another video on showing us how to use the FlexPhraser, at your earliest convenience. Have a wonderful Day my Teacher and thank you for all that you do for us & all that you share with us.
Thank you for your skilled and informative tutorial. Yes, watched till end. Now will watch again and again till I understand. I upgraded from Cubase 6.5 pro to 12 pro. Well, can see and hear what an awesome bit of kit this is.
Hi Craig! I am a professional musician/composer working with larger orchestral templates and making the transition from MAC to PC due to all the limitations with the new MAC equipment and updates. Was fortunate enough today to get the terrific deal on Cubase 12 Pro pricing at 40% off in September '22 at $219 for competitive cross grade and looking forward to learning the program. I have to really THANK YOU for your totally professional, logical and clear introduction to Cubase 12. I wish all the UA-cam tutorials were as good as yours! I'm looking forward to more of your uploads going forward. 5 STARS!
