Few people can make me instantly happy. Guy is one of them.
Yeah I agree
@@maddin1laurenzio311 Me to !!!
Totally!
I very much agree. Not only he makes me happy but also to want to learn more about writing music & impoving on my knowledge of music making technology
Agree man!!
I finished watching this at least twenty minutes ago and all I have in my head is: "I am all on my own... TOGETHER..."
Ha...my apologies!
It's a bit like that Joe Pasquale tune: 'I know a song that gets on your nerves'....Only it doesn't... It just stays locked in your brain forever. You just learn to live with it....😂😂😂
Brilliant lyrics. The irony, the contrast! :)
the difference between this guy and the other people teaching Cubase on youtube is that with this guy it feels genuinely interesting and not just like being taught something in school. Absolutely amazing content 👍
spot on
Came back to this video because I remember it being pretty funny.
Literally in tears. 😂
"on my own ... together... TOGETHER ... TOGETHER ... TOGETHER"
Oww my sides!
The thumbs downs are most unnecessary. Guy has punished himself enough. Be thankful we are “sitting at home... Together”!
i was screaming FOREVER!! FOREVER IS THE BLOODY RHYME!
Guy is inflicting musical pain on himself to bring beginner musicians knowledge, he should be added into the hall of lockdown heroes
the Hall of Lockdown Heroes should actually be a thing.
I am not that active on social media, but I must comment. Your video is a breath of fresh air. Your honesty, kindness, knowledge, self deprecation and genuine joyous spirit are priceless during these times. I feel less alone. Also, you are extremely helpful for a newbie who is wondering through the wilderness, having spent $1000 Canadian and bought all the nice orchestra and drum samples, but has nothing to show for it yet. Justification is needed before my wife sees the the credit bill :). I sincerely thank you for your help and wish all the best to you and your family. I don't know if I will be able to put an actual piece of music together... but I know, if I do, I will have you to thank for it.
You are a brave soul sir. Never in the history of the world has anybody videoed them actually trying to sing and make up lyrics at the same time. We’ve all done it but we have never filmed it :-) world-class composer reduced to wearing sunglasses of doubt. Actually fantastic job as usual, your bravery is inspiring.
I should really think this stuff through before I push record!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Please don't, the way this is is perfect. It made me laugh and i was actually invested unlike most other tutorials
Switching from Ableton to Cubase because it will be better in the long run....but basically would rather pluck out my eyes than learn sit staring at the monitor going through tutorials trying to learn yet more software. Thank you for making me laugh AND get up and running on some basics. Your tutorials make me feel like I'm sitting here working with a friend and colleague, which is really wonderful. Thank you thank you.
So far, "This has been the BEST CUBASE TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS I've ever watched!!!" You've been so effective in showing how to go about the whole thing to start with and with great typical English humor which I find very encouraging. 🤣🤣🤣Well, honestly speaking, you might not find your singing talent impressive enough, but on the other hand, "YOU HAVE THE GUTS OF TECHNICAL KNOW-HOW!!!" 👍👍👍Thanks for sharing, Guy, and I wish you and your family a HAPPY & MORE PROSPEROUS YEAR 2023: GOD BLESS AND GOD SPEED!!!🙏🙏🙏...Ofie from Germany
Now all I want is "Life In Lockdown" to be released on all major platforms :D
Great video, Guy, so much fun :D
i come accross your content because my music director encourages me to learn orchestra production in DAW then i saw a great teacher like you! I appreciate you maaan!
Guy, you make me happy. Cheers.
I so rarely comment but this truly deserves an applause. thanks
Thank you so much for this video. I am new at VSTis and Cubbase and this video is ideal to get me started. Your channel is a treasure.
I unsuccessfully searched 'Guy Milchelmore We are sitting at home together singing' on UA-cam too many times trying to find this video again and YT finally just suggested it after a month. Finally
Good morning. I think I am your newest subscriber. It's been over 20 years since I used Cubase. Recently I decided to buy a new laptop and some equipment and your video has really helped.
Ah man, you make me wanna push my comfort zone, thank you.
You created a chart topper here - it’s now 2022 and I should be hearing this on the radio! 🎉
he has a personality and jokes about writings and it make i easier to learn new things
Endlessly informative and ENDLESSLY Entertaining!! 😂 Thanks So Much!
I could watch this guy all day lol
I just saw this tutorial! Not only did I learned a few more things on Cubase but you also made me laugh a bunch of times!! 🤣. Your videos are always entertaining and full of knowledge!
"I'm watching your tutorial... togetherrrrr". Thanks for the vid 👍
I've been using Cubase at arms length for years in my work. I had no idea about those extra shortcuts. I don't know why I didn't try to find them before. Thanks Guy for everything you do!
seriously thank you, your bit on learning key commands alone makes watching worth while
No apologies necessary, Guy! You're hilarious and that was fun. I really needed the refresh on Cubase (I started on Cubase 2), but I've been on Studio One since then. Keep keeping us laughing, please! :)
This is a fantastic intro for someone like me, who is completely new to DAWs. Thank you :)
What a Guy...excellent, an absolute gent and an 'aid to learning' par excellence .....I'm in my 67th year of music life and Guy Michelmore is the epitome of my own enjoyment even now that my hearing is almost shot due to injuries and age...Tinnitus 24/7 365....My brain does it all...Me? I'm here for the ride....Love always...never stop....Being a musician is for life not a gig
I enjoyed that - including the vocal. English accent carries the day !
Guy, what a star you are, you have saved my bacon.
I'm a not so young, 60 something, come back Trumpet player of G3 level. I belong to a community concert band on the South Coast here in the UK and am happy being in the section on 3rd stand.
As a result of lockdown the band has embarked on an online project to put a track out their using a click track. What a scary and different experience that is, no safety in numbers, no one else counting those rest bars. I got a video recording down on my old Sony Camorder, that was shakey!!!!. I've purchased a Zoom hand held recorder to help with practice that came with CUBASE. Well, to cut a long story short thanks to your fantastic video, I've never used any music tech before I've now sent in an audio file that our compiler can tweak.
If my take makes the cut and the band put our tune, What a Wonderful World - Emsworth Concert Band, up there I'll owe you a pint.
You now have a new member to your channel.

I meant to write this comment back in December 2019. I discovered your channel around November 2019. I think you have a brilliant style in both teaching and entertaining. I also think that you are a deeply emotional person and that shows in both your music and the way you teach. The self confessional style works (at least for me). Back in December I also thought to my self "This guy (;) would probably be better off with an updated business model that revolves around free distribution of his excellent content (pure infotainment) and not the old "infomercial" style that he employs in some of his videos. Before I had the chance to share that opinion, your 2020 videos did just that and are now no.1 on my list of content to relish during the best part of the day. Thank you a lot.
Love your energy on these videos, Guy! I'm a Reaper user, but I didn't miss this video, because I don't miss any of your videos!
Always a pleasure to see one of your videos. Completely awesome... together! Hahaha.
Awesome tutorial. If you're an absolute beginner, and get no sound, you might need to configure you keyboard/midi instrument to route MIDI data out to the computer.
I have enjoyed this tutorial and the sense of humour is very encouraging. I found the video educative, informative and interesting.
I’ve been using Cubase for 4 years, still watched for this fella ngl
Thank you. Absolutely love it - a perfect start to a rather wet Sunday morning and I am really learning something - just not quite sure what!!! No, this has been a really great introduction to Cubase. I am just waiting for my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 to arrive so I can learn how to plug in my guitars and mic. into the iMAC. I am in my 70s but never too late to learn something new.
Well this is a treat. Dude is so fired up by this so its very nice to watch 😊
Thanks a lot, Michelmore! Very well understood your explication its 2023 and I still watch it, just Bravo. Keep going and making music. Bye!
I am all on my own....together. I love Guy.
I have not done anything music related in years because I mostly concentrated on digital painting and 3d modelling and all that jazz, but I want to put something behind my painting videos, which is not the same royalty free music everyone uses...and which I used in the past.
But because I fixate on things (you know...like a normal person does), I decided to learn a full new and quite extensive program just for that.
thank you for posting this. Your explanations were very good to follow. :)
I was just waiting for the last word to be "apart" over the silence at the end to complete the "together apart" idea I dreamed up, and I know I'm not the only one who have ever dreamt that up thank you very much haha!
First time watching, and I love this guy..this is my new home👏🏿
we appreciate you putting yourself out there guy. you did fine and if Paul McCartney recorded the lockdown song it would be a hit.
You are a delight in angst filled world. I am 52 and putting together my home studio. Not sure where I am going but I am pretty sure it will provide joy I just hope it’s as much as you.
"...we're just going to do it..." Love it - works for me every time! 😀😀😀
You sir are the reason I'm moving to Cubase. Happy to be in this oddball community.
O my goodness, the 0.4 seconds of you singing in the mic had me on the floor..🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂👏👏👏👏🏆🏆🏆🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Exactly the video I needed. Downloaded the stay at home collection a few days ago, started and was completely overwhelmed, even just getting sound out of Cubase and MIDI in was a journey on its own. Gave up after a few hours. So that's why this video is perfect, thank you!
You may find it helpful to take it in smaller chunks at first ua-cam.com/video/vqaLiNd8s0Y/v-deo.html
I've watched several videos about how to work with Cubase, and they seem to be heavily focused on EDM and creating MIDI tracks. Being that I'm a multi instrumentalist, this video was far superior in explaining how to start tracking actual instruments and vocals. Excellent tutorial!
You’re a legend Guy. Apart from watching your videos to learn, I sometimes watch them for entertainment purposes.
I no longer own Cubase, have long ago moved on from Cubase, but any video by Guy is a must watch.
I am an beginners beginner, yes so what do I know,,,,,,,,-- That this was the best intro-video into Cubase I've seen.Thank you Guy, and for all the track that just spilled out of you, and your singing was great, except for your exaggerated self-criticism. You sing with a NATURAL voice, which is rare today. from Leo
This was very helpful. You introduced me to features I wasn't aware of that will help me navigate through Cubase. This has also inspired some ideas that can be useful for my own creative workflow.
Excellent sir, you are a great singer, you will win an Oscar
All tutorials should be like this...simple....love it.....
This is so helpful, Sir Guy, despite "Bad Vox" (LOL). Your tutorials are helping me survive in my sound creation (synth programming) class!
I just switched from Logic on Mac (Hackintosh) to Cubase on Windows, because of the technical headaches of Hackintosh, as well as being a computer enthusiast and being very disenchanted with Mac hardware limitations. So this was very helpful for me.
18 months on and it's still entertaining AND informative. Thanks. Before watching, I didn't really understand how to make my various bits of kit work in Cubase without a load of pfaffing around changing drivers and inputs.....it turns out I just needed "busses". Its so simple that NOBODY else bothers to mention it in their beginner tutorials.
What you are doing Guy is fantastic. It is so intuitive and you make learning Cubase fun and easy to understand. Catchy little song too!
Love your videos Guy! Thank you for doing a video about Cubase from scratch as it often looks very daunting
Nice Cubase get-started tutorial. Your vocal and song are better than you seem to think and together certainly serve the purpose of the lesson. Actually your vocal and the style of this piece remind me quite a lot of Ray Davies (of Kinks fame, as well as a solo career) whenever he sings a ballad.
Thank you Guy. You are a gifted teacher and entertainer. And you are so genuine with nothing pretentious. This is probably one of the best videos on UA-cam, I enjoyed it greatly and learned something also. Cheers!
Thanks for that little walkthrough of Cubase elements, I purchased the software a while ago but seemed to gravitate back to GarageBand, simply because it's more familiar for me to find my way around. I'll definitely play with Cubase more now after watching this, thanks again. Stay safe and sane on your own together.
Man, I was clutching at straws with Cubase...and them you came along haha!
Thanks for the video! It really helped me troubleshoot a few things. Most videos I found the person glosses over settings and other important things. Thank you for explaining about studio setup and haleo.
Thank you, sir. I-think this is the only YT video that tells us how to record music rather than how to create synthesized hip-hop beats. Don't forget to check the bird feeders.
I just ordered an Steinberg UR C22 an Rode NT1a some Hadphones cubase elements 11 and some midi Cabels. Long Time ago i was working with Cubase 4, but hadn't had enough time to see any Meaningfull Progress.... you just inspired me to get back :D. Nice Video
Ha ha ha!!! Thanks for that Guy. I'm a Cubase newbie and need a little light relief as my head explodes with all the NEW INFORMATION ! :)
I have used cubase 6 when it came out. I've had to learn a lot on my own and this channel is just what I need. Thank you Guy for sharing your knowledge and expertise! Also very entertaining. Stay safe and keep up the good work!!
I'm always impressed how you tolerate when something obviously needs quantization :D Haha I am listening and yelling: "Hit Q, hit Q!!!"
Thank you Guy I now know how it works , your a star Thank you so much
Thank you for this video! I'm transicioning from FL to Cubase and this video iss very helpful.
I can learn this while having enough time to learn mandarin, thanks to you.
That was so much fun, so much more watchable than most Cubase tutorials, thanks!
Thanks for the jumpstart into Cubase!
If that song is still in my head tomorrow then we'll have to have words, Mr Michelmore :)
Guy!!! This is the ONLY Tutorial that broke Cubase down in basic form man. After Apple YANKED ability to use logic 9 on my 2009 El Capitan MacBook I was FORCED to upgrade! So guess what? I went PC! There was NO reason Apple needed to shut off requirements for old macs🤬... n e hoo- back to my story- I’m tryin Cubase out and COULD NOT for the life of me figure out the Hot Key! 🤬- Until THIS video I had no idea how to get playhead BACK to measure Uno! Gracias sir and wonderful music you make too. Cheers from Arizona America!
Love your videos. Cheers from Turkey!
You're really onto something with this song. It's an instant classic really, you're just blind to it because you're self conscious about your singing! ..... I'm just kidding but seriously, this tutorial is great while I decide which DAW I should buy. Cubase seems very easy to navigate quickly.
This is great, just what we needed. Literally bought a synth 2 weeks ago, then this with minimal music experience. My son and i having some fun with this on lock down. Possibly still a bit advanced for me, but will persevere. Thank you!
Excellent video, Guy. Thanks a lot.
i just got cubase el i can tell this was entertaining thanks
Always good info and a laugh or two! Thanks, Guy!
Finally, a real human being presenting an introduction to recording and mixing at a level appropriate for me. I am off to learn some shortcuts now. Thank you so much but I suspect that song will be an ear worm for me today.
Love this tutorial. Super informative and entertaining! I'm doing research on softwares to use and cubase took the no 1 spot after this video. looks fantastic.
A great teaching video. I have watched many Cubase videos and they are all so pristine and clinical, not to mention the speed of delivery. As a Cubase "learner" (I started with Cubasis VST years ago and never got the hang of it) it's nice to see what can go wrong when you try to "have a go". I like your jovial style, and your voice ain't bad, just like me and many others that first try vocalising to a computer.
I learnt more from your video than loads of others, who use the PRO version and not just the Elements version which most of us start with. Thanks
You're a veritable Bernard Cribbins ;) Thanks Guy, love your stuff!
You are coolest. Thanks for all your knowledge sharing sessions ❤️
Great as ever, Guy. But the first thing after creating the empty project, you should have mentioned to set up the audio interface, to get audio in and out, because that is what most beginners struggle with.
A little reverb on my covid affected voice, there's hope after all. Excellent lesson !
You make daw production into something harmless. You are skilled. Desperate beginner from Norway.
Your passion for music is infectious Guy. Loved the Bad Vocal segment. LOL
I've been using cubase for a couple months now, and I still learned a couple things from this video. Thanks for the info!!!
Really enjoyed the video (even the singing)!
I'm new to this stuff and I found your presentation style made it really accessible. I enjoyed your humour.
Just downloaded Cubase and this was the perfect intro. Thanks Guy!
awesome demo! I am downloading the trial version now. you make things look so easy. cant wait to get into it. Thanks Guy :)
Thanks for the video! I recently decided to try Cubase for orchestrations. Coming from Ableton which seems similar so that's a good start! Good thing there is a free trial going on! Especially since I am all on my own, together!
