- Singapore is seeing more electric vehicle (EV) brands entering the market to compete with top-selling brands like BYD. Drivers can expect a wider range of EV cars by the end of the year. Muhammad Bahajjaj finds out why Singapore is attracting these brands.
The top bidder of every COE exercise should be published so that we can identify if the COE price is manipulated by the same group of companies or individuals
For that, do we need regime change or 50man years audit?
But the transport minister say rental companies and PHVs are not the contributing factors for high coe /S ( say only LOL )
Soon Chinese parents will look at their children at dinner time and say :
😅"If you don't study hard, you will only be able to drive a Mercedes-Benz and a BMW in the future."
@happy 👍 🤣
No mention of BYD or Cherry? Every one knows that these PRC vehicles have no class at all. It’s a reputation kamikaze to be seen in one
Malaysia and singapore are just consumer market, building ev is limited. Only thailand and indonesia have a large manufacturing area
Wen 🇮🇳 bullock carts, sarr?
A nice way to say SG attract Chinese EV car brand to the market. In my opinion and observe, China car brand want to diversified their sales channel rather than staying in 1 market. They go in every single market to allow their manufacturing and brand sustainable. Diversify the risk.

A high COE benefits the dealerships as even the buyers for the smallest motorcycles need to take loans. These loans range from 4% to 10% or more for used bikes and come with a lot of clauses to prevent early termination.
May I know what is COE ? Thank you in advance
Singapore seems to be the new dumping ground for low end PRC vehicles these days

Better buy COE now before it changes. I propose hiking petrol prices by doubling it for a start and charging electricity a few times more. Why? I worry loss in petrol revenue. Hopefully, coe remains a uniquely Singapore feature for all to enjoy. Too bad the rest of the world dont adopt the sg coe system. They are losing out and not seeing the magic in coe
in sg ev makes sense, be fastest to adopt ev..
Elon mask not happy 😂😂
Don’t know if EV battery needs to constantly change every few years, it adds on to the real cost of a vehicle.
And PRC vehicles have no resale value at all
@@yslee1401Just like Peenoise hos 😂
Because SG is a dumping ground. Simple as that.
SG is merely a drop in the bucket 😂
When vehicle sales in PRC has tanked, they will push out those excess stock to any corner of the globe

Counting the number of empty apartments in China 🇨🇳, one can predict the future of Chinese electric cars.

SDP would propose electric motorcycles be excluded from the COE system as they do not really contribute to traffic and if the electrical grid is using sustainable sources, it will also contribute very little overall carbon.

Yep, BEST in 🔥🔥 Your Driveway
Whatever 😆 Singaporeans mostly ride on public transport 😂
The fact that they do not need to pay the full COE amount and just a small amount for Temporary COE (tCOE) makes it really broken for years. Robin Low
Chinese "national security" laws require companies, including BYD, *to assist with intelligence gathering.*

No choice? Please wake up… SG is a tiny red dot and sales volume kept artificially low. They sell way more EVs in other markets.
@@CalvinK-the_old_fogey why they came late to SG because is one of the Asia small market ?
Perhaps they aware singapore market scale not making any profit ?
Just want to show case theirs toys cars ?
@@faustonissi5692 you’re not familiar with business? 1st: Chinese car manufacturers have entered SG market long ago. Those early vehicles were a joke (except the commercial vehicles especially buses). BYD was the earliest EV car manufacturer to appear in SG. 2nd: Businesses will try to sell in every markets regardless of size, as long as it is profitable. 3rd: Within a short period (1-2 years), BYD overtook Toyota, BMW etc in sales and the EV demand is undeniable. 4th: The margin is higher, making up for the lack of volume, as compared to bigger markets. So if you are a sales manager of a Chinese EV manufacturer (there are tons of them in China), would you oppose setting up shop in SG? 😂
It's sad to see such brainwashed low IQ comment here. When the west can't compete, they protect. As simple as that. Bet you didn't study well.

Ev too easy to spoil, total cost of ownership too expensive. And a running time bomb. Fire hazard.

In fact, many man buy electric cars simply because they accelerate faster.
It feels very good to send "dust" to the luxury sports car at the end of the traffic light STOP.
The electric motor in EVs can generate maximum torque instantly, which provides faster acceleration as opposed to the more gradual feeling of acceleration and gear shifts you experience in an ICE car.
Shorter Tyre life
More Frequent tyre changes
EV Tyres are More EXPENSIVE
Add HIGHER Road Tax n Insurance
EV Are MORE EXPENSIVE Overall 🤣🤣🤣

I live in Thailand where there's a wide choice in EVs and the Ora Good Cat is one of them. I have a 5 year old MG GS 2 litre turbo, 217 bhp and it accelerates like a rocket. An Ora came up alongside me on the freeway one day and I put the car in sport mode and put my foot to the floor. The Ora left me like I was standing still!

The COE system is simply flawed. With a small amount of COEs available, motorcycle dealerships can bid up all the COEs and control the pricing.
