  • Pago Pago is the capital of American Samoa, situated on Tutuila Island, which is the main island of American Samoa. It boasts one of the deepest natural deepwater harbors in the South Pacific Ocean, strategically located and sheltered from wind and rough seas. The harbor is also well-protected, making it advantageous for fishing and commerce. Tourism, entertainment, food, and tuna canning are the primary industries in Pago Pago. The city’s Greater Metropolitan Area includes several villages along Pago Pago Harbor, with a total population of 3,656 in the village of Pago Pago itself. Rainmaker Mountain (Mount Pioa) contributes to the city’s high annual rainfall, making it one of the most sheltered deepwater anchorages in the Pacific Ocean.
