So lovely until I hear that blasted F word “Frunk,” can we all agree on bonnet? “It’s in the -runk” (air tools tools going off, half deaf from cheetahs… and so I think “guess I’m popping them both then.” Very efficient.)
Peter Rawlinson is flat AWESOME!! The brilliant, nerdy passion that he brings to Lucid motors contagious. I ordered an Air Pure because of the car, I invested in Lucid stock because of Peter and the the like minded team he has gathered. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming!

Hello, can anyone explain to me why just before the SPAC merger Peter was guiding for 6,000 vehicles produced in 2021 then, one week later he said 577 cars would be produced? I'm hoping for a productive conversation, this isn't meant as hate.
@@tomlololol1 I agree with you that they downplayed projections a lot. But in 2021. If I look at SPAC ppt, it says "below 1k cars" in 2021

It rarely happens that one gets the opportunity to talk (or listen) to a person who excels both in engineering excellence while being highly articulate. I actually had done sufficient research on Lucid, so I was not surprised at the technology descriptions, but since I am a Lucid stock holder, it is comforting to know that the leader has both those traits. Thank you for educating the community and thank you for a wonderful, thoughtful, elaborate presentation.
Be sure to catch the first Tech Talk video if you missed it. Starting out with the basics of batteries, he eventually dives into considerable detail on Lucid's pack construction and cooling system.

The amount of thoughtfulness, time and effort that went into this car is astounding. Not sure any car manufacturer today has redesigned the car from the ground up as thoroughly as Lucid has.

@@jamesengland7461 Well, that was Peter too, the first one anyway, but I believe the battery and drive units were done before he got there. Lucid obviously designed the whole car around the occupant's experience. Teslas seem to all be designed around the tech.
@@Miata822 and that's the thing. Lucid is doing great, but not in a vacuum. I do think they've chosen to reach for a price point and market far above their ability and reputation, pretty much selling an unproven car above the S Class and nearly the price of Rolls and Bentley. Big mistake.
@@jamesengland7461 My Air GT (Red, 21" wheels) costs a little bit less than a Model S Plaid (red, 21" wheels). It is very well assembled, no flaws I could find, made of lovely materials. It rides smooth, is very quiet at speed, and handles exceptionally well. It charges faster than any other EV and drives further on that charge. Like every review says, it's a very nice car. Only the trollish end of Tesla fandom seems to have an issue with it.

I think I figured out why I love listening to Peter so much. He reminds me of Jony Ive from Apple. I've missed Jony's voice in their commercials so much that hearing Peter talk about Lucid feels like a return home.
I love the fact that Peter takes the time to convey his vision and give a deeper dive into the engineering behind Lucid cars. He is one of the reasons I have stock in Lucid. I and my former company have done a lot of work with Tesla drive trains which are excellent, but I think the Lucid concept is miles ahead. Great videos Peter, keep them coming!

For some reason, he reminds of the old Elon - very focused and passionate about building solid EVs. I'm going for test drive this weekend to get the last bit of assurance to reserve a LCID AIR before June 1! Keep up the good work, the Lucid Team!
It's like I'm listening to a version of Elon, but with more tech, and less rambling and incoherence. What the man did with Tesla is absolutely amazing, but it feels like Musk just can't focus. He's doing SpaceX, Tesla, and trying to buy Twitter, and having announced the Tesla AI bot, I would rather have him fixing the shitshow they pulled with the V11 software update.
Peter talk reminds me of Steve Jobs when he explained the iPod and iPhone - complex matter being expressed in an elegant simple way.

I hope the ICE manufacturing industry is taking notes - this is the real transition to EV not just on battery tech, but a balance of environmental tech innovation, comfort, style and tremendous power all wrapped up into I believe one of the most amazing vehicles of our generation. No wonder it won the 2021 Motor Trend car of the year. To top it off this is the only EV guaranteed to have zero range anxiety and you now have THE car everyone else must aspire to in the EV market .
In my opinion the EV benchmark of luxury - range - power (cannot wait to see Lucid produce a luxury SUV)
This guy is brilliant, and should be a Professor. I have so much more appreciation for all the engineering that went into it. The thinking and thought process which I'm sure he's very involved in is unthinkable.

Excellent narrative on the way the design was done. As a reservation holder for Pure and stock holder, I am looking forward to ramp up in production leading to 14k by the end of the year or even beat it. Also looking forward to more info about the range, performance numbers for all the models with and without AWD and 19 and 21" wheels.

Did Peter just casually swing about and lift a 74 kilo motor/drive unit?! I want to know what he eats for breakfast. Lovely video for an even lovelier car.
This is an example of how Peter misleads. In my opinion, there is NO way Peter can carry 162 pounds in one arm let alone hoist it up onto the table. All he had to do is mention this is a demonstration of the compactness of the drive unit. There are no internal parts to those housings. So viewers are enticed to believe these drive units are super light weight. I believe at 74kg they are already light weight, so why the unnecessary deception. I don't get all the secrecy. If it is as good as claimed, just show it off. So many non-answers make Peter feel very dodgy, at least to me. The latest reduction in factory output projections without ANY relevant data makes it all worse and therefore highly questionable.
Lucid looks like it could be a great car. Crow about it with data supporting the claims. I hope they make it, but.... can they?
Always enjoyable to watch a Peter Rawlinson tech video. Never dry, never boring. Straight to the pont. I always learn something new. As an investor I find these tech talks very reassuring.
Can’t wait for my Lucid Air Grand Touring to arrive. The effort put into the car is unmatched.
I wish I learned a tenth of this information, from a Lucid rep, when I visited a Lucid center in NYC. Perhaps I’ll return and look at their car again.
Outstanding Tech Talk series, from Peter Rawlinson and Lucid, that aims to enlighten even the non-technical mind. Other vehicle makers might sniff and suggest that they could present a similar series. But they haven't. Well done Lucid.
I have a pleasure to also test a front and rear seat of Lucid Air during my visit in NY last year. I noticed that rear seat is raised a bit. Surely comfortable for tall people. I'm short, only 6,1 ft vs these Lucid folks. Peter, this is so creative way to present this unique characteristics of your child - Lucid Air. Let me continue to watch more ✌️

Having watched Munro's video on Rivian interior revealing the multi-layered materials complexity prone to troubles, you can see that despite being a bit higher trim luxury, Lucid design is simple and effective but still with some nice touches, not stripped as a Tesla. Really love it.

Can't speak to the actual handling, but got a chance to sit in a Lucid Air at a showroom, and was very impressed. I'm putting down a deposit the minute Lucid announces a car (hot hatch?) that's a couple of feet shorter than the Air.
