    Honestly Nick, I thought your daily shave series last year was incredibly fun and informative. You still managed to share a lot valuable knowledge about the products you were using, and it seemed like it gave you the freedom to give more broad tips to new wet shavers. You've been our product review guinea pig for a long time now... Just relax, enjoy some shaves, and have fun sharing your experience.

    Really appreciate that you went ahead and posted this video and allowed everyone watching to see the reality of shaving cuts. It happens! I recently shaved with a brand new DE-89 and cut myself 4 times! Ha! New razor, Feather blade, and overconfident. I learned a lesson ... Slow down. Great video! Thanks!

    Nice one, Nick. I have been using the iKon #102 slant a lot recently and love it. I sold my Merkur 37c because I found the iKon to be smoother and less aggressive (my preference). Great video. Hope you're surviving the epic winter in Boston.

    Hi Nick,
    Here's a little tip for you. In terms of styptic pencils Pinaud Clubman's styptic pencils are the best and you can get and you can find them where ever shaving items are sold. Walmart has the jumbo sized ones which are easier to open for around $3 bucks. I'm a free bleeder and when I get cut, it's not pretty and these work great for me.

    I think nick shaves offers the most unbiased product reviews. I honestly thank him for that. If I could make a request, I'd love to see Razorock P.160 lol. It's tallow based, apparently smells like bitter almond (?), and is $5 so I think I'll jump on it.

      I just tried this soap this week. The scent is amazing, and the soap performs very well. I had a little redness on my neck right after shaving, which I've read that other people have experienced as well, but it went away very quickly.

    • @Wogby
      @Wogby 10 років тому

      Is it harsh? I read the description and it had an odd way of saying it was harsh.

    • @jasonbw9213
      @jasonbw9213 10 років тому

      I got mine from Italian Barber (www.italianbarber.com/p160-special-shaving-soap-by-razorock-10), and read that the original formula was a little harsh for some people. It has since been reformulated, and is supposed to be more mild. Like I said, I had a little redness for a few minutes, so it might not be the right soap for someone with very sensitive skin, but I would say that it is well worth the $4.99.

      +Gepstra don't be so uptight. the dudes talking about smearing the soap all over his face and Nick most likely wouldn't smear a marijuana scented anything on himself when he works in a professional setting, not to mention a medical setting where people must be wary of any scent at all. nothin to do with knowing what weed smells like.

    Hi Nick,
    I love your videos,
    In my opinion they are quite helpful for those who like the art of barber or simply for those who are "starting" to like shaving.
    One of the products that ussed in my routine is: Nivea Shaving Cream Lather sensitive and Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm, I must say that I love these two products.
    I have only two small questions to ask you if you don´t mind, Nivea Sensitive Shaving Cream Lather and Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm are also your favorite products for the moment and what do you think of MERKUR FUTUR SAFETY RAZOR.
    Best wishes and continue with these wonderful videos.

    Hey Nick, appreciate all your video uploads! My den is based off of yours a bit at the moment. You're recommendation of the omega 10066 brush was spot on! First brush was van der hagen. They both brushes being dry felt the same initially, after lathering the omega, wow, just wow! And pew yew lol So I recently purchased my first DE razor, the Edwin Jagger DE89bl and I have sensitive skin, I think you said you prefer peronna blue blades? Where do I buy these at? Derby is what comes with the razor, I really want my first time shave with the razor to be a winner and a great experience!

    • @palillo2006
      @palillo2006 10 років тому +1

      Blades are very personal. One brand of blades will work for one person but won't work for another. Also, blades act differently on different DE razors. I recommend getting a sampler razor blade pack and adding a pack of persona blue blade if they do come with a pack. Maggardrazors.com is a great online store

    I thought using toilet paper would actually not prevent the bleeding. Toilet paper will prevent the cut from clotting whereas alum or a styptic pencil will actually help clot the cut. I still cut myself on occasion DE shaving and it is really frustrating!

    As you shave more you generally cut yourself less but Nick has shown that even experienced wet shavers can make a mistake and draw claret once in a while.

    Can you recommend one of these for a beginner: Catie's bubbles or razorock xxx or something else?
    I'm gonna get a Edwin Jagger DE89 with Astra blades to start. what soap should i get for sensitive skin? or just what have YOU had better experience with? I'm looking for something that moisturizes and gives you a slick shave for easy gliding

    • @nevermore311
      @nevermore311 10 років тому

      If you're after a conditioned and hydrated post shave, I'd recommend a soap with lanolin. This includes Mike's Natural, Stirling, Barrister & Mann, Mickey Lee, and others. These soaps are also very slick, with Stirling often heralded as one of the slickest on the market. I'd recommend Mike's (his Barbershop scent is stellar), because it's easier to use than Stirling, and has the best post shave conditioning I've ever felt in a shave soap.
      This isn't to say Catie's Bubbles or XXX are bad soaps. I love both of those, but for my money an optimal post shave comes from a tallow + lanolin combination with as few preservatives as possible.

    • @TBFfishing
      @TBFfishing 10 років тому
