    Another great video, Jan. Silage looks beautiful. Almost a miracle with so little rain. Your operations show your Dutch thriftiness and hard efficient work. Good, clear explanations. Specially like the drone shots. You sure have a good team there. Good on you all.

      As the Scripture says in Luke 1:37 Nothing is impossible for God He Can even Raise the Dead which No man can do one of the verses is John 11:41-45 and there's multiple more in the Scriptures HE say's I am the resurrection and the life in John 11:25 then comes the action in verses 41-45..

    Great silaging video, Jan. I'm so old, I remember when most straws were made of paper!... It's kind of 'nostalgic' 😆 Plastic straws were ubiquitous by 1970.

    This May be a strange question but with 300 cows arend you able to buy a older type self driving chopper saves a lot of neck pain and it may even be faster
    We also bougt one with our neighber together We have a boat 200 cows
    The chopper is a johndeere 5820 old beast but stil gets the job done has almost 300 hp and a max working speed of 8/9 kmph
    And We live in Friesland in the netherlands so not the best for dairy at the moment

    8:35 'its far more cost effective with the JF Stoll chopper' - your dad has developed quite a lean operation here from what I can tell. Most farmers hire out the silaging operation likely due to the cost of the chopper, but this JF-Stoll does the same thing for much cheaper. A Claas would be great to look at and may operate faster but this gets it done.

    Thank you, Jon, for the tractor walk along video. The teamwork of everyone in your chopping harvest team is great. Those alfalfa silage bunks look great. How many tons of barley do you think you will get. Jon, will Merriam be doing the barley cutting at a given moisture level to get the correct fermentation in the bunk? Please Take Care of yourself.

    Great video Jan, especially the drone footage is awesome. The chopper is picking up quite clean, I wouldn't change it either. With your Dutch/European roots I can imagine you would love to have a seriously sized Fendt in the barnyard, I would too LOL. • @Andy-ix2ox
    @Andy-ix2ox Рік тому +2

    I love the comments, some guy wants to know if a bigger tractor would put too much ware and tare on the harvester, anyway what do you think the protein content of the alfalfa is? I would love to be able to grow alfalfa but here in Ireland we don’t have the climate for it, we start our second cut grass silage on Monday coming, with the same harvester pulled by 220 horses, we’d love 285 probably as much as you’d love 420 but it’s all about the economics of the system and we couldn’t justify ( or afford) a tractor any bigger so we do what we can. Just a bit of a question if the alfalfa is that dry why do you no drop off the duals to get a better compaction? Has to be a good reason but I can’t see it pits are safe not going much over the walls, is it just that it’s a bit of a job and not worth the hassle?

  • @Ebchevyoutlookcom

    Instead of a big claas or new holland chopper that are pretty expensive you could just get a older but good used John Deere 7000 series chopper. They might not be a very big chopper but they are definitely not half a million dollars. They are also pretty reliable.
