One of my favourite times at harvest time was a "picnic" in the field. My aunt would bake pies as well. (I only worked on the farm at harvest time because I had university classes.) Those memories last a lifetime. On a dairy farm, the cows still need to be milked. . . . There is no tap to turn off milk production. Thank you for sharing your video. It is amazing how cows "love" silage. 😎
Your mother is a special person for bringing lunch to you and the crew. It is nice you sit in the chairs so you can relax and chat with each other. Making fine memories as you cut silage.
Hi Jan. Another great episode, this one hitting close to home! My mother, born in 1913, grew up on the family farm in Steelman Saskatchewan (just outside Lampman.) Her mother died when she was 16 and being the youngest daughter left at home, the responsibilities of the “farm wife” fell upon her. She talked of having to feed all the family and farmhands back when there was none of the modern conveniences. They had no electricity or running water on the farm until just before she left the farm and moved to Regina in 1934. You mom bringing lunch to the crew in the field like mine would had done almost 90 years before put a lump in my throat. Stay safe and keep farming. Stuart M., Chilliwack BC.
Your mom is THE best mom ever lunch in field, helping out were needed. And my favorite when she is feeding the calves especially the brown ones. Love the whole family. Keep the vids coming. Thank you Jan. 💗🐮🐮🐄🐄🐄🐄🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
While I live in the country to your south, I appreciate your hard work and the amazing amount of food your produce to feed thousands. I hope your woke PM doesn’t try to stop your work like they are doing in Denmark, and some say this is all part of the WEF goal of slowing farming. Keep up the great work, and vote for anyone but Trudeau!!
Way cool video, love the lunch deal too. When my dad filed silo we all helped out . There were 5 different farmers and when it was time we all went & helped. The wife of each different farmer always cooked a beautiful lunch and we had a feast. It was so hard to go back to work after the meal.
Hey Jan,thanks again for this great video, great to see how you are loading the silage, shame i cant smel the fresch silage, you have a great mom,to breng the lunch to the velt, it brings to me memories when i was as a little schoolboy and we are loading hay, we get the food and drinks on the velds to..thank for showing Jan.👍💪
Growing up on a farm in Minnesota in the 70's we always had lunch in field when we had a lot to get done and especially when we were trying to beat the rain. During baling (small squares) season we were even treated to an ice cold bottle of beer (just one) after lunch; then time to to get back at it! Watching your videos brings back a flood of great memories. You have been blessed enormously with a great occupation, great attitude and especially a great family! Thank you for what you do and thank you for sharing it with us.
That was awesome what your wonderful mother did making lunch for the help big grain farmers usually do that as well you better give her a huge hug for she deserves it plenty GOD BLESS and thank the LORD for such a good crop 🙏🏻👍🙂
Did we enjoy it?? Absolutely. Yan, you are such a likable guy and are so good at documenting this amazing farm work. Well, we like your whole family and appreciate their appearance now and then. Great work, great reporting. Good on you all.
That is quite the chopper. It seems to put out a huge amount of silage and with a lot of force. 103 is a lot of loads. I checked your weather this morning so I knew you'd be in shorts. It's hotter there than here in Ontario. It's great that your mom does a picnic for everybody in the field. Lucky that you missed the storm. Good video. Pax.
that lunch in the field looks like an absolutely great time ! You farmers live the life. It's hard I'm sure, and uncertain from season to season.....but every day you have something productive to do and you get to do it with your family ! You live the life !
Great video Jan! Just a joy to see all the teamwork getting the big job done. So awesome to hear you talk about the weather cooperating with your efforts. Great to have a nice meal to sit together and consider how the day is going. Inspiring from start to finish. Well done!
Awesome video. Great job, wonderful mom. My mother-in-law used to take lunch to my father-in-law when he drove the cotton picker many years ago. Folks have passed on but the stories and memories remain.
The way this spring started out I would have never guessed you would be able to produce such a full swath of barley this year. Glad you have though. As I was building fence in the rain this morning and loving it after baking yesterday I was thinking of you guys and wondering if it was enough to shut you down. In the end I decided not likely?
People have to realize that when you guys are all doing this somebody still has to be milking the cows feeding the cows and feeding the calves. You guys are amazing
Really good episode. I think your barber may have used the same sharpener as your chopper, but actually your haircut looks very suitable for all that hard work.
Good to see you guys getting a decent harvest this year. Last year was crushing to see you guys struggle with such a small harvest due to drought if I remember correctly. You guys had no rain last year!!!
Jan you are a fashion trend setter just like myself! The shorts were spot on and maybe Neline will get you a set of purple crocs to finish the ensemble off perfectly. Watch that auger work!
Jan, love the videos, I grew up on a farm in Western New York State, question for you: Why do you leave the PTO engaged when you get off the tractor and walk around? I always thought it was unnecessary wear and tear on the equipment, but maybe there is another reason you do that....Thanks!
That chopper does get the job done but I think you would like a new holland fx self propelled. they are affordable and be nicer to chop with and our mechanic be able to work on them.then you could put a blade on the MX for pushing the feed on the pile . Then if you had a break down you could go back to to pull chopper. But it your $$ to spend and how you are doing does get the job done.
Lunch with the whole crew in field was in earlier times in Germany common, too. How many tons are this 103 loads? And drive all trucks over your new scale?
Thanks again for this video...thought caw farm is to mike a caws but goodness lots of other work to be done. Some of the camera shots were awesome as always and very enjoyable to see family eating together!!!!! :))
I'm surprised you haven't bought a new harvester and kept that one as a backup. With the amount you chop it would probably be nice to have it as a backup in case you have a breakdown.
Put Jan in a bran new self-propelled chopper he would be like a little kid in a candy store lol not sure if he would even know what to do with all the power! That's a good old chopper tho definitely a good thing the mx is running good great view tho
Jan, I saw a truck with Rynview Farming on it and a windmill if I;m not mistaken. Is that something of Dutch descent? Good to see that youpull through quite well in these weatherwise difficult times. God bless.
Great video!! Stopping for a sit down lunch!!!!! If we were lucky there would be warm sandwiches a melted mars bar a fizzy drink you dare not open and what was left off the coffee.
I hear you talk about you do not want oxygen within pit under the tarp, completely understand. But what about wet barley, I would think the moisture would cause problems under the tarp.

My grandparents did the same thing. Everyone would help their neighbours and great meals would be delivered.

What a great farm family vid, lunch in the field. Thanks Mom.
Those in the field meals are the best part about farming! Your mother is wonderful!

Great scene to see the family and crew sitting down in the field for lunch - hope your luck holds out as far as the weather goes - GOOD LUCK
Love the lunch procedure. So cool. Sending you good karma for the rest of chopping.
Bless your Mom for the great lunch. Glad you got the loads that you wanted. Thanks for a really interesting video. See you on the next one Jan.

How sweet how y’all just meet for lunch that’s a great time
That's a really cool lunch time tradition that you have on the farm. Looks like a lot of fun.

Really enjoyed this videos. So many memories of harvest in my childhood although we just did corn silage for our dairy cattle. South central Kansas 🇺🇸
Love your family... That lunch out in the field was soooo cool.....
Thank you my friend Jan for sharing such an interesting video Reaching your goal of 100 uploads on day 1, great job, amazing. Blessings.👍🤟
Congrats on hitting that 100 mark and you have a great loving mother
Another interesting video from your dairy farm. Sharing a meal mid-day is so nice, thanks to your mom. Thank you for the video 😊👍
Hope you guys get a good turn out. Every little bit helps.
People have to realize that when you guys are all doing this somebody still has to be milking the cows feeding the cows and feeding the calves. You guys are amazing
Very good point!!! :))
They really gotta love farming and they deserve our utmost gratitude and respect.
Yes this is a whole other side project, everything else still needs to happen.

That is awesome your number of loads in one day. Keep up the great work Yan.
Good to see you guys getting a decent harvest this year. Last year was crushing to see you guys struggle with such a small harvest due to drought if I remember correctly. You guys had no rain last year!!!

A good days work, well done to you all, great team work. Now all you have to do is give your sister her shorts back!😜. . . . . . . . 👍
AWESOME!...LUNCH OUT IN THE FEILD!...COOL KNIFE SHARPING!
Question.... do you need to spin balance all those tires before you throw them on top of the plastic so the silage bunker doesn't shimmy?
Nicely done 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Be safe🇨🇦
Best for luck getting good yields in on crops this year
Nice haircut man. Always great content.

❤💪💪💪 carryon bro.
I work for a silage chopping crew and this year's crops in the states has sucked most of what we've cut thus far is lacking good grain in it
That's some harvester! I've been running a Claas 75 on the back of a 200hp Massey
Right on, get er done and soak up summer!
Love to see it and was cool to see your mom
Love when you give the technical details
I helped on a corn chopping crew. Huge sandwiches and chips for lunch and big cooked suppers. Good times.
Mom's are the best!

Hei Jan, hello from Denmark. I enjoy yours and your sisters videos. Do you know that the chopper is from Denmark?. Danish quality i think.
good job as always
Nice.
Jan, I saw a truck with Rynview Farming on it and a windmill if I;m not mistaken. Is that something of Dutch descent? Good to see that youpull through quite well in these weatherwise difficult times. God bless.
Tell your loader operator to make sure he watches where he is backing up.🤣🤣
Big difference in the crop from last year !
how old is the jf silage chopper ?? and what size 😊
Nice tractor chopper combination
100+ loads well done
