    Pretty impressive we started on labor day but moisture was running a little bit high gave it a week and we finished up on Wednesday but we only did 500 acres with 1 chopper the only thing I can say is I wouldn't want involved in covering that pile of silage way too many tires to handle but a great video anyway

    Wenn ich sehe wie grün und saftig der Mais dort geerntet wird. Hier in Deutschland ist er meist schon gelb und welk

    54,100 tons of silage. How many cows does it feed? And how many months will this amount last?

      Last I heard they had 3,200 milk cows and the pile will last them a year.

      @@toledojeeper2932 I agree but that doesn’t change what I said. The industrialization of farming has destroyed it and it is not sustainable. The business model is flawed

      @@andylieffring3987 ..How has it been destroyed ? Why isn’t it sustainable ? Just because a farm is large and has a lot of acres and requires a lot of equipment ? All the large farms in our area are still family farms .

    • @andylieffring3987
      @andylieffring3987 9 днів тому +1

      @@toledojeeper2932 too much diesel fuel consumption too much manure concentrated to the land directly around the farm and not enough to other areas. Cows are always in confinement, not utilizing their own ability to harvest a great deal of their own forage and haul and a great deal of their own manure. and yes, a lot of the larger farms were started by one family. However, that does not negate the fact that many other family Farms went out of business as a result. Farming at large and dairy farming is no different, is a slave to commodity market. That’s what has decimated the family Farm.
