Beth Rempel I know. They claim it tastes like caramel and it DOESNT. Stop lying to those of us with a real sweet tooth! Don’t get me wrong dates are super useful, and I like them stuffed with pecans but I have to have a pecan to date ratio so that there’s more pecans. So this is honestly such a lifesaver for people like myself who also want a genuinely useful and easy caramel recipe.
Yas, about time, no dates involved! thanks for keeping it real Lauren 🤣 I used to snack a ton of snickers back in the day, but now I’ve finally found a recipe to make me feel guilt free for once hehe.
lauren, i love you. i can’t tell you how happy i am that you’ve brought a vegan ‘snickers’ bar /without/ date caramel into the world. thank you so much. happy halloween!
(very late) update: i made these twice and they were sooo amazing; i don't think they lasted more than two days in my house and everyone (vegans and non vegans) loved them. 10/10 definitely make this recipe if you get the chance!
Yessss! I'm a chocoholic too. I don't understand why these chocolate bar companies haven't made anything similar yet (not in Canada anyways). Thanks for the recipe!
These are the best chocolate bars I have ever tasted! Absolutely wonderful good! I'm going to drop the regular Christmas presents this year and make the chocolate bars here, strawberry jams and pickles for friends and grown ups familymembers. A small basket with homemade goodies. Thank you very much Lauren and a lots of from Norway
Thank you so much for this recipe - I've had a 'proper chocolate bar' craving for a good few months now. I have searched high and low but to no avail. I made these tonight and oh. my. gosh! You've out done yourself! They're absolutely delectable - dangerously so ;)
Lauren can’t wait to try them these bars look amazzzinng... You’ve could have tempered the chocolate to avoid it from melting in room temperature and instead of dipping the bar you could have drizzled the top and once its set, dip the bottom.
i use the double fork method to dip and it works super well. Also i dont think its just the chocolate, i've made similar caramel before and it completely melts at room temperature.
Oh.my.chocolate.bar.yesss!!! That is complete legit and I'm not just living a little; I'm living A LOT on these!! The music and your look - spot on fabulous!
"You're going to want to make these around the holidays" yesss, right as you said this I was thinking of cutting them into cubes instead of bars to add to cookie tins!
thank you for making actual caramel! I don't understand what the problem is with vegans and sugar I mean I love dates but just... dates are not caramel folks
I’ve tried caramel with coconut oil, PB and maple syrup. It was pretty tasty, not as thick as yours tho! I’m definitely making these to impress family and friends for Christmas lol
Yum! This looks fairly easy to use! Also I like how you made the caramel! It's almost exactly how we would make a Filipino dessert called biko! I used to eat the sauce straight out of the pan and my mom would get mad because it would be all gone before she could add it to our sweet rice lol
I didn't click on this video sooner, thinking the caramel is going to be out of dates again, and after watching it today, now I regret it not watching it when it was uploaded couple days back....yayyyy no date caramel, thank God for that....and I can't wait to make these now....love you Lauren Toyota, you are the best!!!!😍
My brother and I made your gnudi and oh that pesto was really wicked good! He wants to make more things that are vegan. So this weekend we will be watching a bunch of your videos to see what he wants to make next. I am tring to teach him to cook. Hes 22 and still kinda lazy in the kitchen at times. We kinda forgot the green onions in the gnudi but it was good with out it. I want to try this with almond butter and carob.
Yes chef Lauren!! You did it!! I’ve been looking for a legit snickers recipe for 2 years and I finally have one. (I can’t develop a recipe for the life of me.) Thank you!!!
totally agree with your point about making the REAL thing with real sugar butter and all that but I actually love date caramel!!! lol I love dates tbf so I love the flavour
YUM is all I can say ❤️ what the hell Lauren, these are perfection: texture, looks, taste (I can bet on it) just EVERYTHING about them is so so yum. When I feel like indulging in sugar these will be top of the list.
Omg 😍😍😍 do you think the caramel would work without the peanut butter and peanuts for try to go more of like a milky way style one rather the nutty snickers? Either way gonna try these!
This is what I've been WAITING for! I can't wait to make this soon. Snickers have always been my favorite, and I miss them but feel like I can do better. THIS IS IT. How long should this last in the fridge and/or freezer?
You are such a blessing!! With all the Halloween candy talk I was looking in the grocery story to see if any chocolate bars were vegan, (I had hope since most brands are coming out with dark chocolate versions) and of course they still had fricken milk in them, all but the aero bar. Anyway you just made my day. 😂 I’m going to get your cookbook ASAP. 🙏🏼🧡
Hell yeah!! I've been waiting for you to do this cause although others have tried, I know you're the only one who could nail this😁 question: can you taste the coconut cream in this and other recipes it's used in? I really don't like the taste of coconut but everything good is made with it!
Lauren’s rendition of Halloween sweets this year has topped her previous mad at Halloween guts and spaghetti worm hating concoctions. Lauren starts off by addressing the fact that dates will never take silky sweet caramels place, so she makes a vegan version of caramel that is similar to the real one. Coconut cream takes the place of dairy, as well as vegan butter. It seems Lauren’s decedent treat is leaning towards a classic peanut snickers bar when she dumps a bunch of peanuts into her caramel but at last she whips up a cookie sheet that will take place of one of the layers. If you’re a nougat lover, then look elsewhere because this is turning into a Twix and Snickers love affair that was always meant to be. Thank you Lauren for making a match made in heaven, that I will forever be eternally grateful. Lauren builds her bar in a matter of seconds, but don’t be fooled, we know this took you the entire day to make. Do not fear, sweet Lauren, because you’ve never looked better until the very end, smiling and eating dabs of peanuty caramel off finger tips in absolute bliss. This is the best part of every episode, when we get to see Lauren being vulnerable and full of giggles while we watch her devour her delicious delights! I don’t know about you, but I’m not waiting till thanksgiving or Christmas to try these babies out on a bunch of ungrateful relatives that I don’t really like. I’m making these right now.
Would anyone know what to recommend as a substitute for the all-purpose flour. The gf I’ve used just has a weird after taste. Could I just use more oat flour?
As i was clicking on this I was thinking, "I hope she didn't use a date caramel..."
Hurray! I have not been let down! True-caramel lovers rejoice!
That's how I feel about raw cheesecakes lol

yes, thank you because I get tired of vegan date everything on every channel and carob 'chocolate' ugh no
Totally agree with the date caramel!!!
YASSSSSSSSSSSSS They look so amazing! And plenty of time to practice for cookie swap season :-)
That's what I was thinking 😄 These would be perfect to give as gifts at Christmas time 💚💚
My family does appetizer and deserts....... for xmas. Or just for me....
Wednesday is my favorite day because it’s Hot For Food day!
Yas, about time, no dates involved! thanks for keeping it real Lauren 🤣 I used to snack a ton of snickers back in the day, but now I’ve finally found a recipe to make me feel guilt free for once hehe.
Should’ve called them Snickles after Mr Snickles.
I second this!
I'm using this recipe for the coating and caramel parts, but I'm gonna make it with a vegan shortbread cookie, and I'm going to turn it into a twix :)
Anyone see the Snickel's hair on the towel as she was plating them? So cute! Haha! These look awesome, Lauren!

woah these look bomb! I love how budget-friendly these are also. No dates or cashew crust thingy-s. Lauren never dissapoints!!
That peanut butter butterscotch layer looks unbelievable!! 😍
Those look insanely delicious!
Definitely making these! I always take my non vegan friends some homemade goodies for the holidays, this is them this year. Thanks for sharing. 😍
OMGaaawwwrrrr. These look amazing Lauren!
I'll never stop loving this spooky music 👻
I’m gonna try and make this for the next holiday!
I am allergic to dairy, and was literally talking about having to make my own Snickers bar. Thank you!!!! ❤
Hey Lauren! Next time you coat something in chocolate try to drop it in the chocolate and use two forks to scoop the candy out (don’t stab it though.)
Nom. Nom. Looks spooktacular Lauren. You go girl.
Gotta make these!!! Thanks, Lauren!!!
Omg Lauren Toyota you are killing me!!!! Amazing!
Dammit Lauren! You’ve done it again. My mouth is watering! Snickers were my favorite candy bar. I can’t wait to make these for the holidays!

@@hotforfood never ever underestimate the power of your vegan chef goddess (Lauren Toyota)♥️♥️
Are you kidding me? They look sooooooo gooooood
Bought your book gonna make everything ......🤪
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!!! snickers were my favorites when i was non-vegan
Have you tried a Vego Bar? It’s hazelnut chocolate bar. The best vegan chocolate I’ve ever had in fact the best chocolate I’ve had.
yea it's not good
thank god, a vegan caramel without dates
thank u, def trying to make that

Every time I watch your videos I find myself saying out loud “OH MY GAAAD!” Everything you create is so damn delicious! 😻
I found the caramel way too salty on the first go, but when I omitted the extra salt in the caramel these were perfect!
I’m super excited to make these!!! They look so good
HAPPY HALLOWEEN !!! love ya !
They look so delicious. 😋 nom nom nom!
Omg holy moley this looks so good!!!!!!!!!! Mmmmm.
Looks delicious!!!
here to say that i LOVED the background music to this
It's not additives that keep the chocolate from melting, it's the tempering and the crystal structure of the cacao butter.
Looks soooo yummy
YUM is all I can say ❤️

Stoppp 😩 those look INSANE! Chocolate peanut butter is my favorite sweet combination!
this music reminds me of the halloween candy challenge when your blender almost died

Hi, I really liked this recipe it seems sooo good. I will try it soon. But can you tell me witch kind of vegan butter you have used. I live in Québec.

Megan Fuller I made them today and used the coconut cream in the caramel and I can’t taste it, I made sure because my fiancé hates coconut too!
