I bought the FX 30 and love it. Been using the FS5 for years. In between two brands on glass. Now moving everything to Sony and this is my next rig. Totally amazed by everything I see coming of the FX6. It seems to punch above it’s weight and love the built in ND.

You should use the FX6 to film yourself or buy a few studio lights.(or crank your gain)Video looks very dark and muddy.Great breakdown on the rig.

Other people have done similar builds and they make the top look cheap and the say its no good. With your build, it looks really sturdy and makes me want to reconsider the Sony FX6, great job Jared !

People love to hate! I haven’t had any issue with it so far. One thing I am upgrading is the mic holder, I found a 3D printed shock mount that is bolt on compatible and looks a lot more sturdy than the stock one.

Good information but filming in low-light actually makes it a bit challenging to see what you have going on until you insert the cutaways. Sure, it's trendy for filmmakers to shoot darkly, but I'm watching this for information, I don't need atmosphere like a dark Game of Thrones ep. And I'm watching with screen turned on on a brand new MBP M2 16". Higher key light would be very helpful.

First off, thanks for the video, great seeing some of the accessories in use. However, it would have really been useful, if you had lit the whole thing a bit more high-key. I get it, moody is nice and all, but I guess since this video had more of a functional purpose it's kind of a bummer that at times I could barely see what you were building.

I've only found one other video on youtube that shows anything about the zoom rocker. Solid video. One comment, and I think you will find this out yourself, but the wireless transmitter mount on the side.. doesn’t work with the side handle when you actually try to put a unit on the mount. A teradek or hollyland will block your hand from actually using the side handle. I believe it’s suppose to be used without the side handle.

The only time I use rods is when I'm going shoulder mount. I use the small rig shoulder rig that mounts to a VCT base plate. Then I use small rig extension arms with an attachment for the FX6 hand grip and a wooden handle for the left grip. Super rock solid and allows me to pop on and off tripod and onto shoulder very quickly. I just found when the camera is rigged (more that the basic set up) it's just too heavy for hand held, but with the shoulder mount it's perfect. I make a decision before the shoot asking am I going basic or rigged? It's incredible how much better shoulder shooting can be!

6:05 ok sorry but i use a sony ecm-vg1 on our NX-100 ( its for the local news) and we still need the rubber thing on those too. So Sony Does not make the MIC holder on their gear the right fit for only their mic's. Their mic's barely fit too.
