As a father of five and a full-time employee, I only have 1-2 hours a day to play games, but this one has brought me immense joy. I don't really understand the hype around newer MMOs that focus solely on endless grinding and back-to-back raids. I prefer MMOs that emphasize exploring the world rather than just gearing up and raiding. If you share that sentiment, you've found the perfect game to enjoy.
It's pretty fun to play casually imo. Personally, I had fun when while I was mindlessly grinding skills and running quests while bantering in the world chat. It's not for everyone, but it may be a decent choice if you have nothing to play and need a filler game.
Yeah dude some people chew through content like crack cocaine. This game is awesome there’s 100’s of hours in maxing your crafts alone. There is a TON of content to this game and a lot of fun to be had both PVE and PVP. People are just so damn impatient it’s truly amazing the horrible attitudes some people have. New World is my favorite MMO by far. Def give it a try.
Just a casual but frequent player (PVE) nearly 4000 hours. That being said, I have not leveled all the trade skills on the 2 servers I play (3 toons). Don't have BIS gear. And don't M3. Still trying to finish some artifacts and I don't have them all. I am not sure how players don't have anything to do. Their PVP track is maxed too? All achievements complete? All lore found? Every quest finished? Hit the new gold cap? Ultimate trophies? All heart runes maxed? It is overwhelming, all the things I need to do still.
I am in the same situations. Still using my gold as fast as I earn it on small things like BIS bags, finishing off trophies, skilling sets. I always find something to do in-game, but then again I can't play as much as some people due to work, and I have to edit a lot, so it's hard for me to use this argument against others who might have more time to play than me.
It is not overwhelming. Every game has different goals toward catered audiences. There isn’t allot of players in any game that love to do anything. I stay away from PvP and slow grindy crafting systems like new world, so I will never get any PvP trophies neither do I care. So you can’t tell me “ Oh there is PvP stuff to do” for me that’s dead content
Completely agree, due to work I play 2-3 times a week, slowly grinding away at things, and am always having fun, but I could see how hardcore players get frustrated.

I loved NW! I love the crafting mechanics and it was fun! But wow the player driven market killed my will to keep going. I was one of the very first player to make star something bar and try to sell it, thinking I could make money on only to find out people would only buy it for 2gp…when it’s worth way way more money. And yes RuneScape vibes and I loved that.
Yea, maybe that's why I love the game too, Runescape was my childhood. 😂 I hear at launch the market was crazy, with all the dupes and gold glitches. Even still, it's a bit strange, some items are pretty much valueless. Maybe a general store ppl can sell to for a set price to get some items out of the system would help that. There are some good items you can craft and flip for a profit though, but there should be more.

i mostly just play it due to fomo nowadays. i have over 3 million coin, ultimate trophies *3, fully bissed out pvp and pve gear, 90%+ in-game achievements, every title (seasonals too), now i'm just trying to get all transmogs and lore pages but alas some are bugged or unavailable. tired of hearing nw players say the game 'has potential', whatever potential it had died 2 years ago. new world is already 3 years old, it's just not making a comeback, it has too much bad rep for any revival. i'm low key just hoping it shuts down soon so i can finally be free
Damn, you went hard on the game. When I am in a rut, I usually just use my gold to host community events in my house like quizzes or transmog comps, that always makes things more fun for me. I am waiting to make my final judgement until June, if done right, console could be the game's savior, but I am not holding my breath. With pretty much all of the PC population leaving, it gets rid of a lot of the negativity, and maybe with all the console players jumping in to the game, who have never played it before, and not been through what a lot of the players have been through, if the game is in a good state, they can come in with a fresh set of eyes and build a better and more positive community.

Agreed, No potential left, I knew when i completionist Angry Earth in a single day. Think Brimstone took me 5 months? Let it be. Too much bad rep for a revival, agreed. Tragic. I like the combat more than souls, an the crafting more than rust, the music more than WoW. But thats it. UI, quests, optimization, blob pvp, mounts they didnt need to add were just extra work, all bad. When the graphics got dated but the client still didnt play well with other mmorpg clients that was it for me. Theres just no endgame loop if you are bored of ECR, which has too much walking sim. I capped out 6 chars700 ilvl 3 servers all 200 crafting. Id rather pvp in EvE than NW. What else is there to do if xpac is done in a day and all proffessions are 200+ on all chars. Game came on like crack but it was WAY TOO EASY to put it down. ALso I dont think a flood of population from console will save it. Maybe games pass will save it but has games pass saved ANY game?

I was there on launch. We truly believed invasions are impossible to beat and we will never lose Windsward. I was there when we beat an invasion for the very irst time. I sealed 500 breaches, killed 2000 PVP. Nostalgia is a weird thing, I only remember the very best and only fond memories, granted mostly due to my company (shout out to Red Bears in Hydrus) while the launch was nothing but a dumpsterfire party and after some months, all we did was just talking with each other for hours doing nothing, just walking around on towns or dueling and oing chest runs every hour.
I really wish I was around for launch, it looked like a crazy mess. I know it killed the game for a lot of people, but I still think I would have enjoyed it. I love how everything feels so crazy at the start, same with Sand Worm more recently, everyone couldn't figure it out, now it's like clockwork, you can do it in 5 mins without paying attention 😂
I’ve got about 300 hours in the game and it’s still trash. Games current player base says enough, I doubt this game will ever make a turn around with the way it’s being managed.

Lol for real. Not just having a job, having to workout everyday to be a normal healthy human being, then having to cook so you can also be a normal healthy human being. That leaves maybe 2 hours a day for me to play games max. People like to pretend you don't need to exercise for some odd reason. I'll pick this game up and have a blast as long as people aren't antisocial
Yea, if you're going into it with the right mind set, it's a great game, especially on sale, just don't expect to be playing 5 hours a day, for the next couple of years.
Neglected to mention all the servers they merged/destroyed I was part of Ismarus Eta on EU since launch, quit at some point before the first expac Came back, saw my server gone, guild disbanded and can't re-open it because the name is already taken, that's what killed the game for me
I started before BSS but never really played it after it came out started a new character to play with brother and friends who quit before max level and just never came back, considering doing so because even when I was solo still had fun.
I LOVE New World and they are fixing lots of issues and making it better. I’m a full time worker, so I’m a causal player (20-30 hrs per week) - average 4 hrs per day. We also have family gaming day with all my adult kids
Yea, I am the same, because of my job I can only play 2-3 times a week, and really enjoy it still whenever I logon, but from the comments I am reading, everyone seems to be the opposite. Maybe if I played daily I would get jaded too.
They definitely need to make sure console players are on seperate servers because console players typically have severely worse lag. Also there is a benefit to pc players, it will renew interest in the game, generate more funds for them to work with and improve the game. I think some of the things youve said were kind of shortsighted on the business side of things (which is reality). However, excellent job on describing the game itself mechanics wise!
Thanks m8. Yea, so it was confirmed by Katie a couple days ago that there will be a couple PS5 only servers, and Xbox only servers, so they'll have it. I think it'll help a lot PC players, even if some of the active servers might not get the biggest increase in player count imo.
Hold up, Music Skill line? Hell yeah, I'm sold. I love playing Bards. I wanted to wait till aeternum releases because of the pretty bad anti aliasing and it's get AMD's DLAA equivalent with it but eh. I might give this game another shoot sooner. Thanks for the overall video tho!
Yea, it's the newest skill. It's a lot of fun, kind of like a guitar hero mini-game. Some people even just keep throwing up music buffs on chest runs, and you can get tips for your music, so can make some decent money. Probably best to come back with console release, where the game will see a lot of improvement.

Hello, so me and a few friends are thinking about restarting New world (on one hand cause of your vid) we used to play in the early weeks of the release waaaay back November 2021, so yea we are max lvl with good gear (for this time), so now to the question : Should we just start new Charakters ? You'll for sure enjoy it. Max level is actually 65 now though, after you get the expansion. If you plan on getting the expansion, which I think is kinda a must, cuz having artifacts and mounts will make things so much better, you should for sure look at getting it asap, last I checked it was on sale. As for new characters, I don't think it's needed. I would go in with your old characters, and get right into the new zone Brimstone Sands. It's an awesome desert zone, and it will unlock for you eventually something called heartrune gems, which are like ultimate abilities. Then you can start farming for the one you want to use and max it out. Oh, but first, if you're getting the expansion, for sure go get your mount asap, and start slowly leveling them up, to get they faster, as it'll speed up your questing by a ton. After Brim, I'd head to the newest zone, the Elysian Wilds, and start grinding for artifacts. They're a ton of fun. Basically, really strong weapons/armor/jewelry that completely change the way you play, and define you build. Like for example, there's a great-axe that scales with int, so you can make a really cool mage build with a fire staff and great axe that has so much mobility and power, it's a ton of fun. There's videos on my channel on how to get every artifact if you guys need. That'll consume your a good chunk of your time as you make your build and finish off your characters. Now, if you want to experience the new story they put into the game, I would hold off until console release in October, and make a new character in the fresh start console worlds to experience that. You'll get that awesome experience of playing the game at launch, with all the new and excited console players, plus with the release, there will be bear mounts added, and new cut-scenes in the story that just make the whole experience all the better. I think I am going to give BDO a try again on the PC. I tried many times on console, but couldn't get into it. Maybe just because the controls felt weird.
@@NewbWorld i actually prefer on controller, i use it on pc for regular grinding. You can try it out, it is best action mmo for solo play at least, and even pvp can get fun... really poor team pve content though. It is also very gatcha, but i know tons of players who do not get lured on spending money... spending money often makes you waste money, its not guarantee gain and very expensive compared to simply grinding:)
I wouldn't say some players will never return even if the developers put in the work to fix it. FF Online launch was horrendous, but devs put in work, made it amazing and has one of the higher player bases.
Best PVP combat in the history of mmos. I tried going back to wow, i was a wow PVPer for 15-16 years and it felt so outdated , flat and lame after New world. But unfortunately there's nothing more in this game that its addicting combat
Yea, it's so hard to explain. I get so many people saying combat is terrible, but I love it. Been playing a lot of other games, and recently jumped back into NW, and I got into a 3 way battle on a control point, and the skill, and intensity, to out maneuver and take out 2 different players from 2 different factions, it was unlike anything I've experienced in the other MMOs I've been playing.
If I could chose between action combat and tab targeting... I would play this game. Obligatory action combat is a big no-go for me and a lot of other players 🥺
I guess I am in the minority then, but I just enjoy action over tab so much more. It keeps me from getting into the big tab target games that are out there.
I pretty much quit when Eden was combined into another server, Eden was one of the top 3 servers in the US on launch and I played hard up until the point of its fall. Just didn't feel like home anymore not being in Eden.
4k hours, my favorite action MMO and unfortunately in its current state with such a low population, 50% of the content is barely even playable because it requires groups that just aren't there. So sad :( Ill always recommend the game to New Players, but just know that your new player experience can't hold a candle to what you could experience if the game had a thriving player base.
True, I still see tons of people around in the towns though, so it doesn't feel dead to me, but if they can nail end-game, then the game will go to another level.
Its worth playing because it will be worth your money for the early/mid game. However, when you get 65 with xpac and start upgrading yoir gear to 700, game is no longer worth it. Just het 700 gs, max out some tradeskills, do a few pvp activities (maybe a war), then youve done all
@@NewbWorld Yeah. Ive put 5k hours into it before leaving. I have maybe used 200€ in this game over the course of 2 years or so. So its like ive used about 8€ a month to play the game, or 1€ for every 25 hours of playtime. Tbh i dont think i could have make a better profit for my enjoyment
I think console only servers would be best. What is thinking behind it? Just that keyboard and mouse is more efficient so console player will always be at a disadvantage unless they switch to keyboard and mouse?
Question for you/community about the movement in New World .... when walking/running forward does your mouse control your turning from left to right and then when sat still does it then snap in to free cam mode!?!? Yup, but they just implemented a new free camera mode you can use that's different, or, you can just plug in your controller since controller support was just released. Haven't tried controller yet, but it feels like a game that would be good on controller.
all i rem from this game since launch was... "oh fck new patch is out.. what did they fck up this time " :D we had so many duping issues and they stopped market and trading for 3 week straight. but once we had glitch where we could farm rare resources at a place but that was fixed in about 2 hrs. oh and bots were everywhere. i think at that point i felt this game was irredeemable.

I thought great-sword was a good call, and as far as the devs, at-least they are still making community videos to update us. It would be even worse if it was how it was, and there was radio silence on their end.

I thought u played 12k hours, I was gunna say... 😂 Yea, I would always recommend getting it on a sale, then it's easy to get your money's worth out of it. Just stick to the parts of the game you like. There's a lot there, for all kinds of ppl, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea.
I've played till brimstone sands but always had issues with dungeons and get BiS gear without a steady team. Is BiS still locked behind dungeons or are there other ways to get it now? like for more or less a solo player?
Yea, if you get into crafting you can craft gear and choose all 3 perks you want, so it doesn't get any better than that. Gearing is a lot easier now, with the Gypsum system, and crafting is the best way to gear up if you want everything specifically around your build. It'll take some gold per piece, but not that hard to make the gold.
have over 5k playtime and play for last year 1 time in a month..nothing to do...best time to play was the first six month after relaise.then the game with every update easy and easier.all finished long time ago...after every update new things gives only 2 weeks gameplay.after relaise all maxed out in 3 month solo..after update to higher level 3 days for new maxed out.
Back when the game released i had so much fun playing it Casually, but that i mean i took my sweet ass time to progress the story, i was very hooked with chopping trees, mining, crafting and cooking 2 bad i cant find a similar game to new world i do like the combat since it doesnt have many skils like wow has too much for me
Exactly how I feel. All these games with 2 bars of 20 skills, it's too much to learn, too much to remember, I don't have the time. Plus the gather skills are phenomenal.

Have you seen the revamped UI for the console release? It's in the new footage they released. That maybe more your style. I like the current UI, even more than the new one coming, but maybe I am in the minority.
As of writing this comment there are 4,290 on 12 servers world wide. The most populated servers are the 3 US east coast server. that being said, i had over 3k hours when i quit last oct. I do not regret walking away. The dev team are terribly out of touch with the player base.
Yea, numbers are going to keep dipping until October. I really hope console can revive the game, because I love the world, and how it all feels, just needs more atm.
I think it'll do really well on console, but yea, I agree. Even as a PC player, and knowing it'll hurt the PC servers, I think there should be servers made where console players can only play against other console players. Or maybe even just in the matchmaking for things like OPRs and 3v3s, but then they'd still have the issue in the PVP island in open world PVP. But keyboard players will have a really big advantage imo, plus we've all been playing a lot longer, so will be even more of an advantage.
@@NewbWorld It's not about flagging for pvp, because of pvp pve have less 15% for loot chance, pvp controls most of the map, all the nerfs to skills, heals, burst damage etc... pvp is just braking NW, I've had enough of that shenanigan.
Hello there, thanks for your input. I am considering returning to the game to play casually as I have little time for video games nowadays. I played the game on release until level 60 and have like 500 hours on it but completely stopped playing before any expansions released. I was wondering if you could give me some insight on what has changed since release? I know a lot has and there has been many dungeons added and stuff but im more interested in knowing mechanical changes and just overall substantial onces that affect gameplay. One that i heard like a year ago that really turned me off was this whole thing about needing multiple builds/sets to progress through certain high level content. Is this true; that sometimes you need to switch from dps to healer to tank and what not to be able to do some content to where you would need multiple gear slot loadouts to progress or complete specific content? Or can I do it just which sword and hatchet or something like that the entire way? I ask because I don't want to feel like i have to spend extra time min maxing gear for all classes and weapons. Let me know what you think and thanks!
Hey, yea, you're going to love the game if you casually play it. It's really only the people who play 5 hrs+ per day who are complaining about it. To give you the best advice, I'd have to know the kind of player you are, but I'll give a broad bit of advice that'll work for most players. For starters, the main story line has been completely reworked, and is actually really good now. So might be worth making a new character to experience that, or you can watch my series, the story of New World, which is like a cinematic journey of the revamped MSQ. There's here if you want it: ua-cam.com/play/PLsvqzr-SWJqvqqL1SkgsQqWMC5eUFun90.html They're also adding even more cut-scenes and cinematics to the main story in October, with the console release, so maybe if you want to experience those, hold off until then with the new character. Now, the level cap has been raised to 65, but to be able to get there, you need the expansion, if you don't have that, I'd say that's something you should look to get, you could wait for it to go on sale if you're not in a rush. But this expansion will unlock a bunch for you. You will now get mounts, with the riding skill line, so you'll want to get your mount leveled up, and most importantly, you will unlock artifacts, which are really good items, that you can only use 1 of, per item type (1 armor, 1 weapon, 1 jewelry). These artifacts will completely change the way you play. For example, there's a sick great-axe called Abyss, and it can scale off of intelligence, so you can then make a great-axe/mage build that's so much fun to play if you pair it with a fire staff, and it'll hit like a truck. You'll want to grind out the artifacts you want for your build, which won't take very long, they usually drop pretty fast, and they have a pity system (unless they are on the PVP track, those are bugged atm, and take forever to get). I have been using fire staff/ice gauntlets for the last couple of years, and had no issues. What you might be thinking about is mutated expeditions. You can run through these with the same old PVE gear you use for everything else, the only things is every week it rotates what kind of mutation it is, and if you want to do the highest difficulty, it's best you slot a gem of the mutation in your gear, to make you more efficient in the run. Regular dungeons, and M1s and M2s for sure don't need these gems. And switching gems each week, isn't much work tbh, or that expensive. They introduced gear sets as well in NW since you've been gone, so you could have a set of gear you just always run around in that you'll never change the gems on, and your expedition gear in another gear set, and you can change between the sets with the click of a button. I use these gear sets for my trade-skills gear. So I have 1 gear set for logging, 1 for mining, and when I see an ironwood tree, I press the button I assigned my logging gear to, to switch into it, and then cut the tree, for added resources, and then go back to my main gear. This is completely optional though, because it doesn't add that much of a bonus. I think you will really enjoy the game (if you get the expansion), and you for sure don't need to min max much in this game. Once you get a couple of pieces of highest ranking gear, with the skill perks of the skills you use, you're good to go. Don't spend too much of your time or gold min maxing, because gear score will be increased to 725 in October, and we don't know yet if we can upgrade our gear in the gypsum kiln yet, or if we'll have to go hunt new pieces. Oh and we got dungeon group finders now, so if you like doing those, you should find more ppl, and cross world OPRs, so if you like PVP, you'll be able to play more matches. Hopefully that covered most things, feel free to hit me up with any questions you may have. And if you're lost on where to start looking to gear up, here's a video I put together recently showing you some bosses that drop best in slot jewelry you can grind for, to start gearing up. buying the dlc is a necessity is a prime example of a bad game, DLC isnt supposed to make the game better to the point its needed, its meant to be additional content to an already completed game. If its just for the mounts, then they can do what gw2 did and put either rentals everywhere, or what they recently done, and gave everyone the base raptor. If its everything else, well again sounds like content they should have already added for end game to begin with.
Yea, I think it's just step one of their plan though. The way it feels to me, is that next they make the game free, and the base game is free trial like a lot of MMOs do, and DLC is what ppl buy if they enjoy what they're playing. Keeping nice stuff like mounts behind it, like GW does, to incentivize ppl to buy DLC. That'll boost their player numbers, and probably be the smarter business model.

They have said that a lot of the slow response time was down to the previous coding. With the new code in place, I am going to give them another chance to prove me wrong. Already I am seeing fixes rolled out faster, hopefully it'll allow them to make content faster as well. Just gotta wait and see.

It's actually a really interesting story, and it's improved significantly from launch, as they revamped the whole thing. They will finish all of the improvements with the October update, to include even more cinematics and make it even better. I skipped through all the talking on my first playthrough, but recently went back and played the story to understand it, and in the process I created a series to help other people experience it without having to remake their characters. In the current state of new world i would not suggest it. Just wait and keep an eye on it. No telling atm if they might drop the game or just make it f2p
True, the making it F2P is a good shout, specially with console coming. I would still recommend it on a sale though for new players, if it's like $20, you can get a couple thousand hours out of it, and by the time you're getting a bit bored, new content should be coming out.
I'm not sure when you played, but as long as I've played there's been stagger. In fact, I have heard people complain about the stagger, as opposed to not having it. 😂 Now when you get attacked by a ton of mobs, the multiple staggers can get really annoying and cause you to die.
@@NewbWorld before official release the game had stagger mechanic. The devs said they didn’t know how to “balance” it so they straight up removed it from the game. Truly a shame, they should’ve taken hints from the _souls_ franchise (dark souls, elden ring, etc) which have one of the best action combats in the genre (if not the best). Anyways, this was a huge deal back then and the forums were constantly arguing about it. In the end, like 70k players left the game and appointed “stagger-less” combat as one of the contributing reasons. I eventually also came to realize the game was a skill spam fest, and left the game along with my friends. But I enjoyed other aspects of the game, its just that micro-management in combat is very important for me, even more so in an action combat game. With an ADHD mind I get bored pretty easily lol. I need to be engaged in combat to actually enjoy it
Would be interesting, I can't really think of anyone that did that, or to any high level, would like to see how it would work. That's always a cool world to be in. The Last of Us was one of my favorite games and shows I've watched/played.
Yea, overall probably can't, but with NW being action combat, vs the tab targeting of WoW, I feel like there's a whole fan base of this kind of combat that don't really enjoy WoW.
Started the game a few weeks ago. I am a casual player, I have a full time job and stuff. I like it, it looks great, and although I am up to level 65 already, there is still stuff to see and do. But I can see the end of that already, and I don't know if I am invested enough in the game to deal with the minutiae of min-maxing a build, grinding and farming for just THE special perk or bonus. I am not that kind of player. Give me some weapon, and I will hit stuff. Give me lots to see and explore. But don't pester me with a gazillion choices of perks and goodies and different kind of bonuses that all give 0.001 percent of something. I already have a job, I don't need another one.
Honestly that's the best way to play it. I also have a full time job, so I only get to play a couple times a week, and it keeps me enjoying things. The people who can play 6+ hours everyday really are fed up with this. I feel like gearing is very easy to get bis gear with the gypsum kiln, but yea, a couple percentage buffs here and there with like trophies and bags isn't for everyone.
Yea, honestly I think you'll both have a blast, especially casually, because if you're playing like 8 hrs a day, you'll run out of content at end game, but early game has tons of stuff to do. The gathering and crafting works great for a pair, I would even say you should play like a duo iron man mode (so you don't use trade-post, and make everything). One of you can be out gathering resources, like iron, and the other can be leveling weapon smithing, and make weapons with the resources for you both. Most quests are in the open world, so you can run alongside each other doing them. A couple missions will require you to be in a solo instance, but not many. And you can do expeditions together as well, which are like the dungeons.

I paused at 3:27 to say it's in no way 2nd to none. The new player experience is not bad, but holy crap, it is not the best by any means. It's actually pretty boring. I can think of a million other MMORPG games that did it better. GW2, SWOTOR, hell, even WOW has better ones by far, and that's for every race!! lol Also, the visuals are ehh, it's pretty basic, to be honest, and I remember last time I played there was this huge frame rate issue. ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE FOR NEW PLAYER EXPERIENCE: MOUNTS ARE LOCKED TO XPACK, and no, they aren't actually a game-changing feature like how Guild Wars 2 does it, they are just basic mounts, keep on walkin :''''( ALSO, side note because it killed a lot of my experience starting this game, nobody does low-level dungeons hardly ever. Anyways, overall this game is a solid 5/10 because it could really just be a mobile game if they wanted it to (and not a good one). I mean I guess it's how you look at it. The reason I love the new player experience in New World, is the feeling of being on a new and strange island, kind of like one of my favorite shows ever, Lost. Plus all the weapon leveling, and choices, I like the feeling of leveling the weapons for the first time, and as a new player, it makes you want to kill everything you see to get those new levels. And the gathering skills are done so well, it has you going and gathering to get those levels, to get more stuff, and it feels really satisfying imo. I never played WoW, I did play GW2, and I really enjoyed it, but I don't think I liked it as much as I liked NW, and the combat felt more skill based, despite all of it's flaws. Early on you kind of don't see all of the flaws. SWOTOR might be better, I haven't played that in a long time, but that would be purely based on the story telling, which that game does amazingly well (but that's not very hard to do in the Star Wars universe), I find the combat a bit underwhelming though. The visuals I still love, despite some areas it being really poor, like sometimes you will see a character face model and be like wtf, but then sometimes you will look off a cliff, and into the distance, and it's stunning. As for the mounts, I guess it's just how you define game changing, I don't mean like genre changing, I mean it just completely changes how you play NW. No more tons of running around to make things slow, you just jump on mount, get from place to place fast, even with Chest runs, it really sped up the gameplay. And then when you throw it into modes like OPR, it changes how that game works too. Even open world PVP, if you're trying to get away, you gotta think about dodging shots so you can mount up n dip, for me, that's game changing, it changes how I play the game. For the dungeons, I don't know when you quit, but with group finder, it's a lot easier to get the low lvl dungeons done for your quests, I still think more of a daily bonus for the random dungeons needs to be added though to make even more people do them. Even if you're still struggling to find someone with the group finder, just ask in Recruitment chat, I find it really easy to get a lvl 65 to run my new characters through it, a lot of the players have nothing else to do, so they will help you out. If it takes more than 5 mins to find someone, just offer something like a couple k worth of gold, and you should be fine. I recently made a new character to playthrough the new story, and it was very easy for me to find low level dungeon mates. But still, yea, there are a lot of other great games, and after June announcement, I would probably say hold off on NW, for at least a year, and try out something else.
Hopefully it will have crossplay with console release. Then i would even start a new account to play with my friend who has a ps 5. Even though i was already lvl 60 and finished the main game a year ago
Yea, I am not sure if it will though, would be nice. At the same time, if it doesn't have cross-play, when you start on console it'll be like how launch was, with everyone starting all over with fresh accounts, which will be interesting. If it has cross-play, I hope they throw in some fresh start console servers so players can experience that.
Yea, probably not. A lot of people get more hooked by the early game than end game. If you're not having fun early on, you probably won't later either. I am having the same issue with Throne n Liberty right now, I really want to love it, but just don't have fun with it. Will give it another go on launch, but it's a shame.

I agree there was little content, but you can't say zero content. There was winter rune forge, and new season pass, even though that's not much. Console will help with player numbers, but I still think there's enough fun to be had in the game, despite it's state, hence why I said decent state. I still have fun when I login.

Honestly there isn't that much end game content, but if you haven't played since launch, you will get a good amount of content. You should probably get the DLC, I would start by getting my mount, and then go through the Brimstone Sands zone/story, and after that, over to the DLC zone, Elysian Wilds, and work through there. Then get some artifacts for your build, they will really change the way you play the game.

Yea, for sure they need to go back and diversify, but I believe they will do it. Like how they went back and re-did story, and are re-doing trade skills, it's just a matter of time. The game has the potential, it just needs to be executed on.

Yea, the non-mutated not many ppl do, but it's really easy and you don't need a full group, so if you ask in recruitment chat, you can probably get someone to run you through the ones you need.

In New World you aren't able to just finish the story line without doing anything else.. I ran into this issue when I started getting lv 50 quests at lv 40 and I had to go around and do a lot of side quests and other things to get up high enough to do them. At 50 I encountered the same thing.. main story quest jumps to rec. lv 60.. and once again im having to go around and scrounge up side quests and whatnot. I'm not saying its necessarily a "bad" thing as I get to experience the game more but I was unable to just do the main story and get to lv 60.
Really? I always feel over leveled in the content on my new character I am running through the story on, but maybe it's because I only play it like once a week, so I always have that bonus XP saved up. Are you grabbing town board missions from every town while you're playing through story?
Same in Guild Wars 2 base game. Main quest gets you for example to Level 23, then you have to grind until Level 30, main quest gets you to 34, grind to 40, main quest to 43 etc.

The answer is NO. Saved you a bunch of time. They launched with almost a million players and currently have just over 6k... This game is dead and for good reason. They split the player base with a DLC that should have been a free update. Don't waste your money
Tbh, after the June announcement, I would probably say no too. If you want to treat it like an MMORPG, if you get it on sale with the DLC for $20, and just want to run through it like an RPG, then I think it's worth it, but there's a lot of flaws.
TL;DR: Play something else until we have some form of confirmation the game is actually going to be good in June. For anyone else, here is my full review. It is entirely negative, because the game sucks, and is entirely negative. Enjoy. I can't recommend paying what they're asking for right now for even the base game (which includes Brimstone), because even casually you can reach max level incredibly quickly, and at no point do you feel any level of challenge progressing through the base game. All of the quests & leveling in general have been made so easy, especially with the inclusion of the new MSQ updates to make the whole thing solo-able, you're not going to be playing the base game for long, and will then immediately get tossed into the content that has caused the continuous and heavy hemorrhaging of players for years now. Part of the issue with this is that players who have barely been playing a few days and playing a game so easy you can essentially just left click through all the content and win, are now expected to do content with other players that requires more than holding W and Left Clicking. This lack of skill buildup creates issues where new players feel like they can't properly engage with the end game's more challenging curve, and many drop off due to this, if they don't drop off due to absolute boredom. Regardless, it is very likely that all you'll probably doing once you're done with the main story and Brimstone, is the occasional chest run (which isn't REALLY content) or spam OPR for the sake of farming like everybody else does, except for the like 7 weirdos that take it seriously or somehow have fun with it. The crafting is annoying and the system of crafting gear & trophies & buffs used to directly support your crafting/combat/gathering is utterly awful as well, just like the storage system is terrible, all held back by horrible design decisions. Even coming into the game in the hopes you can get addicted purely to the life skilling, you'll find yourself disappointed. Don't even get me started on how hardcore they killed fishing. Sorry prospective fisherman. Combat is terrible, and their update to the combat system made it worse. Hitboxes are still horrible, with many melee swings still going right through NPC models that are standing still, only for the game to not register any hits. Have you tried fighting a wolf lately with a sword or hatchet? Good luck. It is as atrocious as it was at the start. To make matters worse, many players (but not all) are now reporting heavy rubber banding that wasn't present until the start of Season 5. Swinging a melee weapon at a target, and having that target create any amount of distance against you mid combo, results in the rest of the swings in your melee combo chain rubber banding you back to your combo's starting position until you stop swinging, or get staggered. This is not a PC or Internet issue, nor is it a server issue. It is the fault of their new combat system called "Slayer Script" that is affecting some players Client Side, but leaving other players alone. Due to this, some players are claiming people are complaining about nothing, and that they're just experiencing connectivity problems on their end that need to be resolved by the players. This is an enormous cope/troll attempt, and do not let them gaslight/troll you into thinking this is your fault if you are one of the unfortunate ones to suffer this experience-destroying bug. The end game is lacking and what is there is boring. Tack on to that the fact that the jank of the combat as well as the hand-holdiness of the base game's combat starts to become a serious issue once you get to the more challenging endgame stuff. Those issues are the heaviest hitters in why people don't play. It feels like there's nothing compelling me to go on after playing the basic version of each form of content. Why should I continue to gear? So I can play the same boring and/or frustrating dungeon/raid experiences... again? So that I can play more OPR and have maybe a slight gear edge in a completely wonky, jank, glitchy, unfair, and unbalanced PvP experience? Doing a few rounds of the ONE PVP mode that doesn't entirely suck, on the ONE MAP they've had for YEARS? If they want that to improve, they better announce some new maps and PvP modes with this June update, and not just some boring open world always-on PvP that will not make an impact at all. The problem with AGS is they have no creativity, and they prove it year after year, but people keep saying: "Well maybe this time!" - No. I have no confidence in their ability to bring this LITERAL dead game back to life. Their lack of ability to create fun and engaging content is the issue, but they keep updating the game to include stupid artifact weapons, which feel like handouts instead of something special that you really worked towards, and adding/reforming zones to play the game in, while not realizing the gameplay is not good! Oh wow, so you're telling me I can play the game on a new island now with gorillas on it? Cool. Let me swing my sword at them-.... Oh wait my sword still goes right through their body. Cool. Let me just re-install SWTOR or WoW again. At least those feel like playable MMO experiences despite their imperfections. I'm not even kidding about that last part. I see a lot of people talking about transitioning to SWTOR and WoW and it is hilarious how true and real that is.
New World is just for specific audiences, that’s is minority of minority. Stats show that. They added new transmog system that is buy to use , or be very lucky to get one token for chest. Their leveling is glacier slow. So having alts is non existent. Only this minority loves this game and enjoys it. It has potential it needs lots of rework. L
It does need a lot reworked, but I feel like leveling isn't slow, maybe at the start, but now it's pretty quick. Transmog system for sure needs more way to get tokens, and higher drop rates from chests, think I only ever got like 3 or 4 from chests to this day.
For me the final decision will be by the end of the year. Now they got the code re-worked to how they want it, if they can get things to a better level, and start delivering without delays, I am willing to give them one more go.
Too bad NW devs can't even figure out what genre of game it is or they are simply misleading people into thinking it is now an action RPG that you can play with friends. What kind of idiot statement is that? They are just trying to make a buck off of a dying project. Simply stupid. Go play TnL instead. LOL there is a free open beta right now that is super fun.
I tried TnL, it really didn't hook me. I don't know if it was because it was a beta, and I knew progress would be wiped, or what it was. I will give it another go on full release though because the game is stunning, and has some really cool and unique features. Hoping console release will help breath some life into NW as well though.
As a father of five and a full-time employee, I only have 1-2 hours a day to play games, but this one has brought me immense joy. I don't really understand the hype around newer MMOs that focus solely on endless grinding and back-to-back raids. I prefer MMOs that emphasize exploring the world rather than just gearing up and raiding. If you share that sentiment, you've found the perfect game to enjoy.
It's pretty fun to play casually imo. Personally, I had fun when while I was mindlessly grinding skills and running quests while bantering in the world chat. It's not for everyone, but it may be a decent choice if you have nothing to play and need a filler game.
For sure, especially on sale. I got my copy for $20, and got 3k hours out of it, very worth it for me.

Just a casual but frequent player (PVE) nearly 4000 hours. That being said, I have not leveled all the trade skills on the 2 servers I play (3 toons). Don't have BIS gear. And don't M3. Still trying to finish some artifacts and I don't have them all. I am not sure how players don't have anything to do. Their PVP track is maxed too? All achievements complete? All lore found? Every quest finished? Hit the new gold cap? Ultimate trophies? All heart runes maxed? It is overwhelming, all the things I need to do still.
I am in the same situations. Still using my gold as fast as I earn it on small things like BIS bags, finishing off trophies, skilling sets. I always find something to do in-game, but then again I can't play as much as some people due to work, and I have to edit a lot, so it's hard for me to use this argument against others who might have more time to play than me.
Yeah most players have yet to do all that. Too bad it's not worth doing lol

It is not overwhelming. Every game has different goals toward catered audiences. There isn’t allot of players in any game that love to do anything. I stay away from PvP and slow grindy crafting systems like new world, so I will never get any PvP trophies neither do I care. So you can’t tell me “ Oh there is PvP stuff to do” for me that’s dead content

I loved NW! I love the crafting mechanics and it was fun! But wow the player driven market killed my will to keep going. I was one of the very first player to make star something bar and try to sell it, thinking I could make money on only to find out people would only buy it for 2gp…when it’s worth way way more money. And yes RuneScape vibes and I loved that.

Even still, it's a bit strange, some items are pretty much valueless. Maybe a general store ppl can sell to for a set price to get some items out of the system would help that. There are some good items you can craft and flip for a profit though, but there should be more.

i mostly just play it due to fomo nowadays. i have over 3 million coin, ultimate trophies *3, fully bissed out pvp and pve gear, 90%+ in-game achievements, every title (seasonals too), now i'm just trying to get all transmogs and lore pages but alas some are bugged or unavailable. tired of hearing nw players say the game 'has potential', whatever potential it had died 2 years ago. new world is already 3 years old, it's just not making a comeback, it has too much bad rep for any revival. i'm low key just hoping it shuts down soon so i can finally be free
Damn, you went hard on the game. When I am in a rut, I usually just use my gold to host community events in my house like quizzes or transmog comps, that always makes things more fun for me.
I am waiting to make my final judgement until June, if done right, console could be the game's savior, but I am not holding my breath. With pretty much all of the PC population leaving, it gets rid of a lot of the negativity, and maybe with all the console players jumping in to the game, who have never played it before, and not been through what a lot of the players have been through, if the game is in a good state, they can come in with a fresh set of eyes and build a better and more positive community.

Agreed, No potential left, I knew when i completionist Angry Earth in a single day. Think Brimstone took me 5 months? Let it be. Too much bad rep for a revival, agreed. Tragic. I like the combat more than souls, an the crafting more than rust, the music more than WoW. But thats it. UI, quests, optimization, blob pvp, mounts they didnt need to add were just extra work, all bad. When the graphics got dated but the client still didnt play well with other mmorpg clients that was it for me. Theres just no endgame loop if you are bored of ECR, which has too much walking sim. I capped out 6 chars700 ilvl 3 servers all 200 crafting. Id rather pvp in EvE than NW. What else is there to do if xpac is done in a day and all proffessions are 200+ on all chars. Game came on like crack but it was WAY TOO EASY to put it down. ALso I dont think a flood of population from console will save it. Maybe games pass will save it but has games pass saved ANY game?

I was there on launch. We truly believed invasions are impossible to beat and we will never lose Windsward. I was there when we beat an invasion for the very irst time. I sealed 500 breaches, killed 2000 PVP. Nostalgia is a weird thing, I only remember the very best and only fond memories, granted mostly due to my company (shout out to Red Bears in Hydrus) while the launch was nothing but a dumpsterfire party and after some months, all we did was just talking with each other for hours doing nothing, just walking around on towns or dueling and oing chest runs every hour.
I really wish I was around for launch, it looked like a crazy mess. I know it killed the game for a lot of people, but I still think I would have enjoyed it. I love how everything feels so crazy at the start, same with Sand Worm more recently, everyone couldn't figure it out, now it's like clockwork, you can do it in 5 mins without paying attention 😂
All these ppl with no jobs in the comments saying they have anywhere from 1k to 10k hours wow nothing left to do........
I’ve got about 300 hours in the game and it’s still trash. Games current player base says enough, I doubt this game will ever make a turn around with the way it’s being managed.

I started before BSS but never really played it after it came out started a new character to play with brother and friends who quit before max level and just never came back, considering doing so because even when I was solo still had fun.
Yea, I play mostly solo, and got over 2k hours of fun out of it myself. For sure worth checking out.
I LOVE New World and they are fixing lots of issues and making it better. I’m a full time worker, so I’m a causal player (20-30 hrs per week) - average 4 hrs per day. We also have family gaming day with all my adult kids

Yea, I am the same, because of my job I can only play 2-3 times a week, and really enjoy it still whenever I logon, but from the comments I am reading, everyone seems to be the opposite. Maybe if I played daily I would get jaded too.

They definitely need to make sure console players are on seperate servers because console players typically have severely worse lag.
Also there is a benefit to pc players, it will renew interest in the game, generate more funds for them to work with and improve the game.
I think some of the things youve said were kind of shortsighted on the business side of things (which is reality).

Yea, it's the newest skill. It's a lot of fun, kind of like a guitar hero mini-game. Some people even just keep throwing up music buffs on chest runs, and you can get tips for your music, so can make some decent money. Probably best to come back with console release, where the game will see a lot of improvement.

If you plan on getting the expansion, which I think is kinda a must, cuz having artifacts and mounts will make things so much better, you should for sure look at getting it asap, last I checked it was on sale.
As for new characters, I don't think it's needed. I would go in with your old characters, and get right into the new zone Brimstone Sands. It's an awesome desert zone, and it will unlock for you eventually something called heartrune gems, which are like ultimate abilities. Then you can start farming for the one you want to use and max it out. Oh, but first, if you're getting the expansion, for sure go get your mount asap, and start slowly leveling them up, to get they faster, as it'll speed up your questing by a ton.
After Brim, I'd head to the newest zone, the Elysian Wilds, and start grinding for artifacts. They're a ton of fun. Basically, really strong weapons/armor/jewelry that completely change the way you play, and define you build. Like for example, there's a great-axe that scales with int, so you can make a really cool mage build with a fire staff and great axe that has so much mobility and power, it's a ton of fun.
There's videos on my channel on how to get every artifact if you guys need.
That'll consume your a good chunk of your time as you make your build and finish off your characters.
Now, if you want to experience the new story they put into the game, I would hold off until console release in October, and make a new character in the fresh start console worlds to experience that. You'll get that awesome experience of playing the game at launch, with all the new and excited console players, plus with the release, there will be bear mounts added, and new cut-scenes in the story that just make the whole experience all the better.
From there I'd run through the story and experience it.
That's what I would do, you'll get kind of the best of both worlds.

I think I am going to give BDO a try again on the PC. I tried many times on console, but couldn't get into it. Maybe just because the controls felt weird.

You can try it out, it is best action mmo for solo play at least, and even pvp can get fun... really poor team pve content though.
It is also very gatcha, but i know tons of players who do not get lured on spending money... spending money often makes you waste money, its not guarantee gain and very expensive compared to simply grinding:)
I wouldn't say some players will never return even if the developers put in the work to fix it. FF Online launch was horrendous, but devs put in work, made it amazing and has one of the higher player bases.

Best PVP combat in the history of mmos. I tried going back to wow, i was a wow PVPer for 15-16 years and it felt so outdated , flat and lame after New world. But unfortunately there's nothing more in this game that its addicting combat
Yea, it's so hard to explain. I get so many people saying combat is terrible, but I love it. Been playing a lot of other games, and recently jumped back into NW, and I got into a 3 way battle on a control point, and the skill, and intensity, to out maneuver and take out 2 different players from 2 different factions, it was unlike anything I've experienced in the other MMOs I've been playing.

I pretty much quit when Eden was combined into another server, Eden was one of the top 3 servers in the US on launch and I played hard up until the point of its fall. Just didn't feel like home anymore not being in Eden.

4k hours, my favorite action MMO and unfortunately in its current state with such a low population, 50% of the content is barely even playable because it requires groups that just aren't there. So sad :( Ill always recommend the game to New Players, but just know that your new player experience can't hold a candle to what you could experience if the game had a thriving player base.
True, I still see tons of people around in the towns though, so it doesn't feel dead to me, but if they can nail end-game, then the game will go to another level.
Its worth playing because it will be worth your money for the early/mid game. However, when you get 65 with xpac and start upgrading yoir gear to 700, game is no longer worth it. Just het 700 gs, max out some tradeskills, do a few pvp activities (maybe a war), then youve done all

@@NewbWorld Yeah. Ive put 5k hours into it before leaving. I have maybe used 200€ in this game over the course of 2 years or so. So its like ive used about 8€ a month to play the game, or 1€ for every 25 hours of playtime. Tbh i dont think i could have make a better profit for my enjoyment

This was recent? I don't remember a healing nerf. I feel like healing is so powerful in NW, so hard to kill someone who runs with a healer.
As a console player, if this is forced crossplay with pc, it's a insta-skip unless there are console only servers as well.

Question for you/community about the movement in New World .... when walking/running forward does your mouse control your turning from left to right and then when sat still does it then snap in to free cam mode!?!? Yup, but they just implemented a new free camera mode you can use that's different, or, you can just plug in your controller since controller support was just released. Haven't tried controller yet, but it feels like a game that would be good on controller.
all i rem from this game since launch was... "oh fck new patch is out.. what did they fck up this time " :D we had so many duping issues and they stopped market and trading for 3 week straight. but once we had glitch where we could farm rare resources at a place but that was fixed in about 2 hrs. oh and bots were everywhere. i think at that point i felt this game was irredeemable.

Yea, I would always recommend getting it on a sale, then it's easy to get your money's worth out of it. Just stick to the parts of the game you like. There's a lot there, for all kinds of ppl, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea.
I've played till brimstone sands but always had issues with dungeons and get BiS gear without a steady team. Is BiS still locked behind dungeons or are there other ways to get it now? like for more or less a solo player?
Yea, if you get into crafting you can craft gear and choose all 3 perks you want, so it doesn't get any better than that. Gearing is a lot easier now, with the Gypsum system, and crafting is the best way to gear up if you want everything specifically around your build. It'll take some gold per piece, but not that hard to make the gold.
have over 5k playtime and play for last year 1 time in a month..nothing to do...best time to play was the first six month after relaise.then the game with every update easy and easier.all finished long time ago...after every update new things gives only 2 weeks gameplay.after relaise all maxed out in 3 month solo..after update to higher level 3 days for new maxed out.

Back when the game released i had so much fun playing it Casually, but that i mean i took my sweet ass time to progress the story, i was very hooked with chopping trees, mining, crafting and cooking 2 bad i cant find a similar game to new world i do like the combat since it doesnt have many skils like wow has too much for me
Exactly how I feel. All these games with 2 bars of 20 skills, it's too much to learn, too much to remember, I don't have the time. Plus the gather skills are phenomenal.

As of writing this comment there are 4,290 on 12 servers world wide. The most populated servers are the 3 US east coast server. that being said, i had over 3k hours when i quit last oct. I do not regret walking away. The dev team are terribly out of touch with the player base.

I think it'll do really well on console, but yea, I agree. Even as a PC player, and knowing it'll hurt the PC servers, I think there should be servers made where console players can only play against other console players. Or maybe even just in the matchmaking for things like OPRs and 3v3s, but then they'd still have the issue in the PVP island in open world PVP. But keyboard players will have a really big advantage imo, plus we've all been playing a lot longer, so will be even more of an advantage.

Honestly, at this point probably GW2, maybe when we see roadmap I can change my mind, but I think this is going to be a painful year in New World.
The only way I will start playing is when NW add pve server and change special nodes to random spawns.
Why PVE servers? You never have to flag up for PVP in the regular servers.
@@NewbWorld It's not about flagging for pvp, because of pvp pve have less 15% for loot chance, pvp controls most of the map, all the nerfs to skills, heals, burst damage etc... pvp is just braking NW, I've had enough of that shenanigan.
Hello there, thanks for your input. I am considering returning to the game to play casually as I have little time for video games nowadays. I played the game on release until level 60 and have like 500 hours on it but completely stopped playing before any expansions released. I was wondering if you could give me some insight on what has changed since release? I know a lot has and there has been many dungeons added and stuff but im more interested in knowing mechanical changes and just overall substantial onces that affect gameplay. One that i heard like a year ago that really turned me off was this whole thing about needing multiple builds/sets to progress through certain high level content. Is this true; that sometimes you need to switch from dps to healer to tank and what not to be able to do some content to where you would need multiple gear slot loadouts to progress or complete specific content? Or can I do it just which sword and hatchet or something like that the entire way? I ask because I don't want to feel like i have to spend extra time min maxing gear for all classes and weapons. Let me know what you think and thanks!
Hey, yea, you're going to love the game if you casually play it. It's really only the people who play 5 hrs+ per day who are complaining about it.
To give you the best advice, I'd have to know the kind of player you are, but I'll give a broad bit of advice that'll work for most players.
For starters, the main story line has been completely reworked, and is actually really good now. So might be worth making a new character to experience that, or you can watch my series, the story of New World, which is like a cinematic journey of the revamped MSQ. There's here if you want it:

They're also adding even more cut-scenes and cinematics to the main story in October, with the console release, so maybe if you want to experience those, hold off until then with the new character.
Now, the level cap has been raised to 65, but to be able to get there, you need the expansion, if you don't have that, I'd say that's something you should look to get, you could wait for it to go on sale if you're not in a rush. But this expansion will unlock a bunch for you. You will now get mounts, with the riding skill line, so you'll want to get your mount leveled up, and most importantly, you will unlock artifacts, which are really good items, that you can only use 1 of, per item type (1 armor, 1 weapon, 1 jewelry). These artifacts will completely change the way you play. For example, there's a sick great-axe called Abyss, and it can scale off of intelligence, so you can then make a great-axe/mage build that's so much fun to play if you pair it with a fire staff, and it'll hit like a truck. You'll want to grind out the artifacts you want for your build, which won't take very long, they usually drop pretty fast, and they have a pity system (unless they are on the PVP track, those are bugged atm, and take forever to get). You for sure never need to change your play style at all through your play through. I have been using fire staff/ice gauntlets for the last couple of years, and had no issues. What you might be thinking about is mutated expeditions. You can run through these with the same old PVE gear you use for everything else, the only things is every week it rotates what kind of mutation it is, and if you want to do the highest difficulty, it's best you slot a gem of the mutation in your gear, to make you more efficient in the run. Regular dungeons, and M1s and M2s for sure don't need these gems. And switching gems each week, isn't much work tbh, or that expensive. They introduced gear sets as well in NW since you've been gone, so you could have a set of gear you just always run around in that you'll never change the gems on, and your expedition gear in another gear set, and you can change between the sets with the click of a button. I use these gear sets for my trade-skills gear. So I have 1 gear set for logging, 1 for mining, and when I see an ironwood tree, I press the button I assigned my logging gear to, to switch into it, and then cut the tree, for added resources, and then go back to my main gear. This is completely optional though, because it doesn't add that much of a bonus.
I think you will really enjoy the game (if you get the expansion), and you for sure don't need to min max much in this game. Once you get a couple of pieces of highest ranking gear, with the skill perks of the skills you use, you're good to go. Don't spend too much of your time or gold min maxing, because gear score will be increased to 725 in October, and we don't know yet if we can upgrade our gear in the gypsum kiln yet, or if we'll have to go hunt new pieces.
Oh and we got dungeon group finders now, so if you like doing those, you should find more ppl, and cross world OPRs, so if you like PVP, you'll be able to play more matches.

buying the dlc is a necessity is a prime example of a bad game, DLC isnt supposed to make the game better to the point its needed, its meant to be additional content to an already completed game. If its just for the mounts, then they can do what gw2 did and put either rentals everywhere, or what they recently done, and gave everyone the base raptor. If its everything else, well again sounds like content they should have already added for end game to begin with.
Yea, I think it's just step one of their plan though. The way it feels to me, is that next they make the game free, and the base game is free trial like a lot of MMOs do, and DLC is what ppl buy if they enjoy what they're playing. Keeping nice stuff like mounts behind it, like GW does, to incentivize ppl to buy DLC. That'll boost their player numbers, and probably be the smarter business model.

They have said that a lot of the slow response time was down to the previous coding. With the new code in place, I am going to give them another chance to prove me wrong. Already I am seeing fixes rolled out faster, hopefully it'll allow them to make content faster as well. Just gotta wait and see.

It's actually a really interesting story, and it's improved significantly from launch, as they revamped the whole thing. They will finish all of the improvements with the October update, to include even more cinematics and make it even better. I skipped through all the talking on my first playthrough, but recently went back and played the story to understand it, and in the process I created a series to help other people experience it without having to remake their characters. True, the making it F2P is a good shout, specially with console coming. I would still recommend it on a sale though for new players, if it's like $20, you can get a couple thousand hours out of it, and by the time you're getting a bit bored, new content should be coming out.

I'm not sure when you played, but as long as I've played there's been stagger. In fact, I have heard people complain about the stagger, as opposed to not having it. 😂 Now when you get attacked by a ton of mobs, the multiple staggers can get really annoying and cause you to die.
@@NewbWorld before official release the game had stagger mechanic. The devs said they didn’t know how to “balance” it so they straight up removed it from the game. Truly a shame, they should’ve taken hints from the _souls_ franchise (dark souls, elden ring, etc) which have one of the best action combats in the genre (if not the best).
Anyways, this was a huge deal back then and the forums were constantly arguing about it. In the end, like 70k players left the game and appointed “stagger-less” combat as one of the contributing reasons. I eventually also came to realize the game was a skill spam fest, and left the game along with my friends. But I enjoyed other aspects of the game, its just that micro-management in combat is very important for me, even more so in an action combat game. With an ADHD mind I get bored pretty easily lol. I need to be engaged in combat to actually enjoy it

Started the game a few weeks ago. I am a casual player, I have a full time job and stuff. I like it, it looks great, and although I am up to level 65 already, there is still stuff to see and do. But I can see the end of that already, and I don't know if I am invested enough in the game to deal with the minutiae of min-maxing a build, grinding and farming for just THE special perk or bonus. I am not that kind of player. Give me some weapon, and I will hit stuff. Give me lots to see and explore. But don't pester me with a gazillion choices of perks and goodies and different kind of bonuses that all give 0.001 percent of something. I already have a job, I don't need another one.
Honestly that's the best way to play it. I also have a full time job, so I only get to play a couple times a week, and it keeps me enjoying things. The people who can play 6+ hours everyday really are fed up with this. I feel like gearing is very easy to get bis gear with the gypsum kiln, but yea, a couple percentage buffs here and there with like trophies and bags isn't for everyone.

Yea, honestly I think you'll both have a blast, especially casually, because if you're playing like 8 hrs a day, you'll run out of content at end game, but early game has tons of stuff to do. The gathering and crafting works great for a pair, I would even say you should play like a duo iron man mode (so you don't use trade-post, and make everything). One of you can be out gathering resources, like iron, and the other can be leveling weapon smithing, and make weapons with the resources for you both.
Most quests are in the open world, so you can run alongside each other doing them. A couple missions will require you to be in a solo instance, but not many. And you can do expeditions together as well, which are like the dungeons.

I paused at 3:27 to say it's in no way 2nd to none. The new player experience is not bad, but holy crap, it is not the best by any means. It's actually pretty boring. I can think of a million other MMORPG games that did it better. GW2, SWOTOR, hell, even WOW has better ones by far, and that's for every race!! lol Also, the visuals are ehh, it's pretty basic, to be honest, and I remember last time I played there was this huge frame rate issue. ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE FOR NEW PLAYER EXPERIENCE: MOUNTS ARE LOCKED TO XPACK, and no, they aren't actually a game-changing feature like how Guild Wars 2 does it, they are just basic mounts, keep on walkin :''''( ALSO, side note because it killed a lot of my experience starting this game, nobody does low-level dungeons hardly ever. Anyways, overall this game is a solid 5/10 because it could really just be a mobile game if they wanted it to (and not a good one). I recommend ESO, GW2, SWOTOR, WOW, OSR, BLACK DESERT, don't waist your time playing a lazy-as-hell ran game.
I mean I guess it's how you look at it. The reason I love the new player experience in New World, is the feeling of being on a new and strange island, kind of like one of my favorite shows ever, Lost. Plus all the weapon leveling, and choices, I like the feeling of leveling the weapons for the first time, and as a new player, it makes you want to kill everything you see to get those new levels. And the gathering skills are done so well, it has you going and gathering to get those levels, to get more stuff, and it feels really satisfying imo. I never played WoW, I did play GW2, and I really enjoyed it, but I don't think I liked it as much as I liked NW, and the combat felt more skill based, despite all of it's flaws. Early on you kind of don't see all of the flaws. SWOTOR might be better, I haven't played that in a long time, but that would be purely based on the story telling, which that game does amazingly well (but that's not very hard to do in the Star Wars universe), I find the combat a bit underwhelming though.
The visuals I still love, despite some areas it being really poor, like sometimes you will see a character face model and be like wtf, but then sometimes you will look off a cliff, and into the distance, and it's stunning.
As for the mounts, I guess it's just how you define game changing, I don't mean like genre changing, I mean it just completely changes how you play NW. No more tons of running around to make things slow, you just jump on mount, get from place to place fast, even with Chest runs, it really sped up the gameplay. And then when you throw it into modes like OPR, it changes how that game works too. Even open world PVP, if you're trying to get away, you gotta think about dodging shots so you can mount up n dip, for me, that's game changing, it changes how I play the game.
For the dungeons, I don't know when you quit, but with group finder, it's a lot easier to get the low lvl dungeons done for your quests, I still think more of a daily bonus for the random dungeons needs to be added though to make even more people do them. Even if you're still struggling to find someone with the group finder, just ask in Recruitment chat, I find it really easy to get a lvl 65 to run my new characters through it, a lot of the players have nothing else to do, so they will help you out. If it takes more than 5 mins to find someone, just offer something like a couple k worth of gold, and you should be fine. I recently made a new character to playthrough the new story, and it was very easy for me to find low level dungeon mates.
But still, yea, there are a lot of other great games, and after June announcement, I would probably say hold off on NW, for at least a year, and try out something else.
Hopefully it will have crossplay with console release. Then i would even start a new account to play with my friend who has a ps 5. Even though i was already lvl 60 and finished the main game a year ago
Yea, I am not sure if it will though, would be nice. At the same time, if it doesn't have cross-play, when you start on console it'll be like how launch was, with everyone starting all over with fresh accounts, which will be interesting. If it has cross-play, I hope they throw in some fresh start console servers so players can experience that.

Yea, probably not. A lot of people get more hooked by the early game than end game. If you're not having fun early on, you probably won't later either. I am having the same issue with Throne n Liberty right now, I really want to love it, but just don't have fun with it. Will give it another go on launch, but it's a shame.

I agree there was little content, but you can't say zero content. There was winter rune forge, and new season pass, even though that's not much. Console will help with player numbers, but I still think there's enough fun to be had in the game, despite it's state, hence why I said decent state. I still have fun when I login.

Honestly there isn't that much end game content, but if you haven't played since launch, you will get a good amount of content. You should probably get the DLC, I would start by getting my mount, and then go through the Brimstone Sands zone/story, and after that, over to the DLC zone, Elysian Wilds, and work through there. Then get some artifacts for your build, they will really change the way you play the game.

In New World you aren't able to just finish the story line without doing anything else.. I ran into this issue when I started getting lv 50 quests at lv 40 and I had to go around and do a lot of side quests and other things to get up high enough to do them. At 50 I encountered the same thing.. main story quest jumps to rec. lv 60.. and once again im having to go around and scrounge up side quests and whatnot. I'm not saying its necessarily a "bad" thing as I get to experience the game more but I was unable to just do the main story and get to lv 60.
Really? I always feel over leveled in the content on my new character I am running through the story on, but maybe it's because I only play it like once a week, so I always have that bonus XP saved up. Are you grabbing town board missions from every town while you're playing through story?
I never did one side quest and was over lvl for the main quests, mpstly due to crafting xp
Same in Guild Wars 2 base game. Main quest gets you for example to Level 23, then you have to grind until Level 30, main quest gets you to 34, grind to 40, main quest to 43 etc.
This game is coming to xbox lets go.

Tbh, after the June announcement, I would probably say no too. If you want to treat it like an MMORPG, if you get it on sale with the DLC for $20, and just want to run through it like an RPG, then I think it's worth it, but there's a lot of flaws.
TL;DR: Play something else until we have some form of confirmation the game is actually going to be good in June.
For anyone else, here is my full review. It is entirely negative, because the game sucks, and is entirely negative. Enjoy.
I can't recommend paying what they're asking for right now for even the base game (which includes Brimstone), because even casually you can reach max level incredibly quickly, and at no point do you feel any level of challenge progressing through the base game. All of the quests & leveling in general have been made so easy, especially with the inclusion of the new MSQ updates to make the whole thing solo-able, you're not going to be playing the base game for long, and will then immediately get tossed into the content that has caused the continuous and heavy hemorrhaging of players for years now. Part of the issue with this is that players who have barely been playing a few days and playing a game so easy you can essentially just left click through all the content and win, are now expected to do content with other players that requires more than holding W and Left Clicking. This lack of skill buildup creates issues where new players feel like they can't properly engage with the end game's more challenging curve, and many drop off due to this, if they don't drop off due to absolute boredom.
Regardless, it is very likely that all you'll probably doing once you're done with the main story and Brimstone, is the occasional chest run (which isn't REALLY content) or spam OPR for the sake of farming like everybody else does, except for the like 7 weirdos that take it seriously or somehow have fun with it.
The crafting is annoying and the system of crafting gear & trophies & buffs used to directly support your crafting/combat/gathering is utterly awful as well, just like the storage system is terrible, all held back by horrible design decisions. Even coming into the game in the hopes you can get addicted purely to the life skilling, you'll find yourself disappointed. Don't even get me started on how hardcore they killed fishing. Sorry prospective fisherman.
Combat is terrible, and their update to the combat system made it worse. Hitboxes are still horrible, with many melee swings still going right through NPC models that are standing still, only for the game to not register any hits. Have you tried fighting a wolf lately with a sword or hatchet? Good luck. It is as atrocious as it was at the start. To make matters worse, many players (but not all) are now reporting heavy rubber banding that wasn't present until the start of Season 5. Swinging a melee weapon at a target, and having that target create any amount of distance against you mid combo, results in the rest of the swings in your melee combo chain rubber banding you back to your combo's starting position until you stop swinging, or get staggered. This is not a PC or Internet issue, nor is it a server issue. It is the fault of their new combat system called "Slayer Script" that is affecting some players Client Side, but leaving other players alone. Due to this, some players are claiming people are complaining about nothing, and that they're just experiencing connectivity problems on their end that need to be resolved by the players. This is an enormous cope/troll attempt, and do not let them gaslight/troll you into thinking this is your fault if you are one of the unfortunate ones to suffer this experience-destroying bug.
The end game is lacking and what is there is boring. Tack on to that the fact that the jank of the combat as well as the hand-holdiness of the base game's combat starts to become a serious issue once you get to the more challenging endgame stuff. Those issues are the heaviest hitters in why people don't play. It feels like there's nothing compelling me to go on after playing the basic version of each form of content. Why should I continue to gear? So I can play the same boring and/or frustrating dungeon/raid experiences... again? So that I can play more OPR and have maybe a slight gear edge in a completely wonky, jank, glitchy, unfair, and unbalanced PvP experience? Doing a few rounds of the ONE PVP mode that doesn't entirely suck, on the ONE MAP they've had for YEARS? If they want that to improve, they better announce some new maps and PvP modes with this June update, and not just some boring open world always-on PvP that will not make an impact at all.
The problem with AGS is they have no creativity, and they prove it year after year, but people keep saying: "Well maybe this time!" - No. I have no confidence in their ability to bring this LITERAL dead game back to life. Their lack of ability to create fun and engaging content is the issue, but they keep updating the game to include stupid artifact weapons, which feel like handouts instead of something special that you really worked towards, and adding/reforming zones to play the game in, while not realizing the gameplay is not good! Oh wow, so you're telling me I can play the game on a new island now with gorillas on it? Cool. Let me swing my sword at them-.... Oh wait my sword still goes right through their body. Cool. Let me just re-install SWTOR or WoW again. At least those feel like playable MMO experiences despite their imperfections.
I'm not even kidding about that last part. I see a lot of people talking about transitioning to SWTOR and WoW and it is hilarious how true and real that is.
New World is just for specific audiences, that’s is minority of minority. Stats show that. They added new transmog system that is buy to use , or be very lucky to get one token for chest. Their leveling is glacier slow. So having alts is non existent. Only this minority loves this game and enjoys it. It has potential it needs lots of rework. L
It does need a lot reworked, but I feel like leveling isn't slow, maybe at the start, but now it's pretty quick. Transmog system for sure needs more way to get tokens, and higher drop rates from chests, think I only ever got like 3 or 4 from chests to this day.
game has so much potential but they are just wasting it its sad cause the gameplay is really it just has no content
Hopefully they change our mind this Friday and they turn things around.

After 6k hours since launch, no. The devs are just unable to make the game good.
For me the final decision will be by the end of the year. Now they got the code re-worked to how they want it, if they can get things to a better level, and start delivering without delays, I am willing to give them one more go.
Too bad NW devs can't even figure out what genre of game it is or they are simply misleading people into thinking it is now an action RPG that you can play with friends. What kind of idiot statement is that? They are just trying to make a buck off of a dying project. Simply stupid. Go play TnL instead. LOL there is a free open beta right now that is super fun.
I tried TnL, it really didn't hook me. I don't know if it was because it was a beta, and I knew progress would be wiped, or what it was. I will give it another go on full release though because the game is stunning, and has some really cool and unique features. Hoping console release will help breath some life into NW as well though.

As long as I get a little badge, or a unique skin in the LOTR MMO I am down. :P I love LOTR, will for sure be checking it out.
