While I want to agree, I have to think the goats are a better AI. The whole point of the AI in this game is to distract you from the goal of getting really good gear and taking out the end game mobs. Goats do an amazing job of being annoying and distracting you from whatever you are doing, and on top of that they run away, entice you to chase them after they headbutt you, and will lead you running into mobs or across the map only to see them despawn, leaving you infuriated that you got duped by a silly AI.

"The NPCs collision box is larger than its hit box because of the scaling" Fucking THANK YOU, I'm so happy someone brings this up! One of if not my single most infuriating thing in this game revolving around combat (Second only to the friendly-body-blocking) is that they just dumped enemies into this game with a scale slider and didnt test at all how that would impact their hitboxes. The Greatsword enemies you talk about? The tall/scaled up ones have giant gaps between their legs that make spears unuseable against them because the "auto aim" in this game stabs your directly between the giblets and you just whiff air on 80% of your swings. Its just such an obvious and simple concept, when you scale up the enemy, check to make sure their hit boxes dont wonk out and you have Melees doing everything right and whiffing air between the legs... like right? Edit: Also that "Victory Animation that locks your character" you talk about at 23:25 ... You know you can press ESC to immediately dismiss it and resume moving right?

It's not like they've held your wallet ransome with monthly fees. Nor have they implemented pay to win in any capacity. The worst thing about this game thus far is the community (the exploiters and people who seem to hang around YT and reddit with nothing positive to say). I'm not saying NW is the next best thing. It may never raise to the scale of FFXIV or WoW. But if someone is having fun, let em have it. If you find the game completely unfulfilling then move on? Isn't that a reasonable course of action? @@BJMcKay44 This is the new norm for triple A game devs, like Halo Infinite for example where they make you pay $20 for the color red as an armor coating, but they can sell you that color an infinite amount of times because it’s unnecessarily tied to a specific armor instead of universal for every armor core like in previous Halos. The game is unfinished, you can’t even select your gamemodes, if you thought New World was a grind the Halo battlepass (which you paid for) takes an entire year, if you’re lucky, to complete and most of the unlocks are fillers like “daily quest swaps”. 24:55 Odd he doesnt mention this but the town upgrade loop is utterly fucked. The higher tier town project upgrades for crafting require serious amount of gold from the owning company. And the only way they get enough gold is if there's alot of traffic to the town. What ends up happening is that companies cant afford the later upgrades, and because there's no upgrades, there's no town board quests, and because there's no upgrades or quests, nobody goes to that town, so therefore, there's no traffic, and as there's no traffic, there's no tax income and the company cant afford any upgrades and on and on it goes into a death spiral. Only Everfall and Windsward are properly upgraded in most servers, with every other higher level town being just fucking dead.
I thinking one of the main things that will improve town traffic, regardless of the town board quests, will be the linking of the trade posts. I'm guessing it will move not all, but some of the population in windsward and everfall and spread it around the other towns, really the only reason I go to windsward or everfall is the guarantee of cheap mats, if I could go anywhere I'd stay somewhere nice like Ebonscale.
towns also loosing lot of money on chat sales. the expensive things r being sold via chat. no taxes etc. its a lot on my server. any higher value item goes in chat. ppl selling spots for expeditions now too etc etc.
honestly the only way to fix this problem is to have each town have a different crafting station specialization (meaning every town cant make all their stations T5). the linked PXs are too late to do anything, especially since its ultimately geography and the availability of the tier 5 crafting stations that make certain towns more populated than others. And the money is in housing tax a/w.
You can see how the original plan for this game was that other players would provide you with endgame content when it a 'hardcore survival' game. The developers have just scaled everything up and called it a day.
Imagine getting hyped for this. The hype of this game was clearly just a result of people desperate for a new game to play. There was no way Amazon was going to pull this off. They gave the devs a cheap and shitty engine to use and hired incompetent leadership because all they could think about from the start was how they were going to implement their shitty cash shop.

Dad here, the game was fun until about level 40. Then I quit the game, stopped smoking, stopped drinking, and got a grip on my life again. Happy trails to you.
To make handing in quests remotely immersive, they could either had birds that you could summon for a second that "fly a message back" or have outposts along roads where you can turn it in.
Appreciate your video and outlook. To me it's soulless and empty. Crafting and gathering doesn't interest me. The reason why it's a grind is because outside of grinding there's no core to the game. Quests are boring and repetitive. If they wasn't prepared to take time and develop good PvE systems they should of just stayed PvP focused. It's a pretty walking and crafting simulator with mmo aspects. They should have pulled it, gave it another 18-24 months in the oven and then relaunched it. As for exploiting, can we talk about how amazon have exploited the player base with copy and pasting everything from map layouts, buildings, quests, mobs, bosses, basically everything to turn a 5 hour game into a 60 hour+ game hahaha

This was a spot on review. I been playing NW since it released, and played it during the closed Beta. It's just like you said, the game has potential, and a solid foundation, but it has a lot missing. Feels like a big beautiful world, yet kind of empty at the same time. I don't hate the game by any means, I play it a couple times a week, but its just kind of secondary and I was hoping it would be more then it is. Hopefully in time it will be.
The watermark system by design is terrible. I have seen entire factions run a "train" through all the high level areas, just running past all the monsters in the area to loot chests every 24 hours. Spam killing the same elites over and over waiting 5-10 minutes between respawns HOPING something drops then hoping again it is the slot they need to upgrade, and hoping lastly for it to be a higher watermark. There is nothing clever, engaging or fun about it. Now they want to raise it to 620. They will probably keep raising it in the future, making it require even more time investment to stay top geared.
The thing is the system isnt the problem. The problem is you only have one best method to do it. And that method just happen to be farming 1 silver/gold banner mob for hours. Why you say? Because amazon is so out of their game. That they think farming 1000 corruption portals for shards enough to make the orb for lazarus or genesis a great concept. Not to mention, why go to those dungeon when again it is scaled by your watermark. Is just dumb as you wasted 5days and 3day cooldown craft for the same rng watermark bullshit in another location.

Glad you're still getting something out of it though, the game needs more restructuring than I honestly believe it will recieve, so I've just gone back to poe.
Yeah this game needed at least one more year in development. it's not a fully fledged MMO yet, but a lot of basic concepts work really well, it could get good eventually.
The crafting economy seems to have run into the same issue that WoW had back when profession perks were a thing. So you had a bunch of max level players either starting a profession or switching professions based on whether jewelcrafting or cloth or inscription was meta. These high level rich players didn't have time to gather resources or do it gradually, and they're starting from scratch, so they buy up all the low-level mats at inflated rates to blitz through their ideal crafting paths, and those mats end up being high value on the AH. Meanwhile all mats that aren't on the 'ideal crafting path' have zero value, and even end-game materials have only so much value because everyone's producing them and eventually nobody needs them.
Dude I’m so glad he reviews this fairly and the goods and bads but what I’m thankful is the viewer count and the fact I KNOW devs saw this video and get a general understanding of what their game needs based on this video , and I say this to the devs we love New world just keep working Hard and communicating with the community to effectively improve the game and it will be God Teir we love you !
I think I've played around 50 hours. I stopped playing the game two weeks ago, because I was just bored (I'm currently at lvl 35). I enjoyed the game for the most part because it is fun to go through the world and the combat and crafting are interesting, but for me the game needs more: - More enemy variety - While being beautiful as a whole, the world itself is very repetitive. There are to many reused assets and almost no recognizable landmarks. - Factions need more identity (through story and characters). Right now they are just colors - Small scale PvP - PvP in general needs to be more rewarding. - Better questing. New World has probably the worst questing I've ever seen in a big MMORPG. - More "lore" and story. This obviously is strongly connected to the questing and faction part. - More weapons, gear and zones - A dynamic Open World. I think the "World" (Open World) is the foundation of this game. They really need to make it more dynamic. I think a questing system more like the one in Guild Wars 2 would have been a much better fit for the game. Events that regularly take place all over the World would also help. If they don't give up on the game I will maybe have a look again in a few months, but right now I'm not really motivated to keep playing this game.
You LITTERLY explained everything that they should improve. Hope they'll do something with precisely the points you've stated above. I know a lot of people quitting due to the things you've mentioned that had over 300-400 hours played (including myself). The maps looks copy pasted, the mobs look copy pasted & there isnt any thing special te do around the world. Concept of the game was amazing, but the lazyness in putting in some effort to not copy paste 75% of the whole map baffles me. Even the "recognizable" structures in the game are being copy pasted, like big bridges or towers. Very dissapointed in the game and Amazon ( since they're a billion dollar company ). Might give it a small shot when the expension comes out, but if it's shit again I'm done. What baffles me the most is that for expample a game like GW2 that came out like 8 years ago has a better lore, better looking map, better looking mobs, world bosses and all that. In 8 years time besides world pvp and wars Amazon studio has done 0% improvement ( even going backwards ) in making a beautiful diverse lore driven game then a game that released almost a decade ago. It's just a shame.
for me it lvl 45 is where it stopped being fun. Stopped at 58 i think, because the content become transitioned to team focused, and I enjoy doing solo content (maybe im just trash though)
Thanks for the good review. This game was a non-starter for me just with the water mark system. I’d rather watch grass grow. It may be for some, just not me.
@@DJSLANKMAN The watermark system isn't an inherently bad idea, it's just executed terribly. If it worked for all gear and just upgraded everything off each drop it wouldn't be bad. If there were ways to target farm specific items it wouldn't be bad, or if the game just had more loot drop at or above watermark it wouldn't be too bad. The way things work now though, it's a terrible system and at MINIMUM they need to make all weapons share the same watermark.
I agree it’s not great, but one upside that alleviates some of the pain, is that you can raise that watermark from doing PvP and just killing players.. makes it go by far quicker than watching the grass grow waiting for elites to spawn, and just hunt players down instead
Thank you for honest opinion. My time and money was saved because you took the hit and showed me and many others what this game is about. It's not for me.
Same. Funny enough, i want to thank Blizzard for releasing all that crap in the last 5-6 years, and proving it to me that pre-ordering, buying something on release day is not a good choice.
like asmon said the first 30 levels are more than fine and tbh worth 40 dollars...so get it and try it for yourself. If they add content you can still come back to it. you dont have monthly fees so ...
I bought it, and I like playing it about as much as I like playing runescape. Which is I play it in spurts, but I can't just mindlessly grind it. I got to like level 25 and I haven't played it much after that, because it is just the same stuff over and over again.
@@KekZWithZ Eh... I'm sure it's enough for some people, but personally i wouldn't buy any game just because a little part of it is good. Especially now that we are talking about an mmorpg, where half of the leveling is good and nothing else. That's pretty bad. I will consider buying it if they add new content and fix everything. Buying before that and hoping that they will do these things is pretty illogical.
Watermark system reminds me of Destiny 2's system, with stupidity added in. Destiny 2 you get gear up to x above your currenct gear level, but until you reach the soft cap (so you can rapidly get to the first barrier fairly easily). And it's averaged across all gear slots, so you don't have to farm them all individually. The soft cap has minor advantages to going past it, but it only really applies to raids, grandmasters and iron banner (the extreme endgame content, except iron banner, which is the place where non hardcore people will feel it most) Past the soft cap gear increases can only be farmed a specific number of times, from specific content (one from doing x strikes, from x pvp, from x gambits, from a certain mission, etc) resetting each week. And it's done based on gear average, so sometimes you'll be screwed (and get something you already had recently, so it's only +1-2 power), but if it's something you haven't got in ages then you can easily get a +10-12 or so boost on a slot. You can also average out stats (it's done on an average, so picking up 'average' gear pieces can allow other slots to catch up). After a few hours grinding to the softcap (probably working on latest story at the same time) you can hit the softcap fairly easily and then work on getting to the next cap. Then past that first cap, there's another hardcap, which you can only get via pinnacles (even rarer, and from the very top content basically), and each pinnacle will be +2 above current average power, with the max being 10 higher than people that just stop at the previous cap (fairly meaningless for most people). Since you have 8 gear slots, you need at minimum 4 pinnacles on different gear slots to boost average power by 1, at which point you would be getting pinnacles at +3 beyond the cap (and powerfuls would be averaging to 1 above) and so on and so forth. The difference of 10 power really doesn't change much,. but it gives something for endgame players to chase. Getting to the powerful gear cap probably will take several days if you've done it before, but even a new player won't take more than a few weeks (making use of weekly lockout stuff can speed it up a lot). Getting to pinnacle cap is somewhat rng (you need to hit pinnacle in every slot eventally, so final pinnacle's can be a slog), but generally a few months and you should have it pretty much guaranteed (on a 3 month cycle before the caps increase with the next release)
This is a pretty honest and accurate review. I'm currently 57 with 262 hours in this game and I will admit with zero qualms that I'm dreading the fuck out of this watermark bullshit. There's a lot to like about this game and I've really enjoyed the majority of these hours but even I have some serious issues with it. The bugs are outrageous, some of the most difficult quests prevent players who have already done that quest from interacting with it ever again (well guardian, Yonas the corrupt), and the TUNING ORB system is absolute trash. When I tell you these last 3 levels are making me want to quit playing this game, I say that in utter defeat. Nobody on my server has been asking for help with expeditions at all lately. For like 3 days now I've not been able to find a Dynasty group to save my damn life. Probably because the tuning orb takes hours and hours of farming to create! So annoying. But watch me sink 6 hours into this game tomorrow so I can get my smithing to 200 or something else time-consuming. The game gives you plenty to do. It just needs lot and lots and lots of work.

They implemented the same idea you also had for crafting at least since this video with patch 1.1. They reduced the xp for lower level items as you level by like 3-4x and compensated by increasing the xp for higher level items forcing you to basically always craft the highest level items to be the most efficient. At least one step forward. I agree with you that there is an amazing foundation here. I am hoping that people are willing to come back as they improve it. They did for FFXIV and ESO and this has as much potential at least. I think by next summer this game is going to be in a great spot. They just need to just keep implementing fixes and upgrades and new content and trust that people will come back. The game is buy to play so they don't have to pay to come back and try the new changes. It is too bad it wasn't there on launch since getting players back is a lot harder than initially getting them. With all that said, they've done so much work in this past year and so much has changed. They just need to keep up that pace. I've seen a lot of stuff in the data mining that makes me interested. There is a dungeon scaling and mod system that has been data mined which will give some type of mythic+ style scaling. Lots of new weapons and zones listed too. Like you mentioned, I think they need to put it all together in a public roadmap so people can have faith that its coming.
100% right on exploits. If you've been around the mmo block a few times you can be sure of one thing: if something can be exploited, it will be, it will be done swiftly by as many people that learn about it, and will be abused in ways far worse than you can possibly imagine. You MUST stamp out exploits as fast as you can with extreme prejudice.
I am so glad that you're back to making videos. I didn't realize how much I was missing it and filled my day with it. I'm sorry for what you're going through but we're grateful to have you back. You help a lot of people get through their day. God bless, man.
Wow, the end game is literally camping for content. They should add some mini games to play with other players while camping as you wait for content to happen lol xD

>kill a certain amount of npcs >pick up a certain amount of items >kill a specific named npc >loot an item off an npc you just described the majority of quests in just about any game that has quests/missions. world of warcraft, guildwars 2, sly cooper, okami, etc.
Real Artisan: When I was 13, I sold my first pair of boots, by 21 I was making full suits of Armor. By age 30, I was the king's blacksmith and worked with the most exotic materials known to man. My magnus opus is the Armor worn by said King. Gamer Artisan: I crafted 18,000 pair of boots and now I can make the full legendary set of the Gods.
Eve Online does not allow "storage sheds" to be linked. If you want to move items from one station (one town) to another you carry those items there yourself. Or you hire another player to carry them for you. I am not sure I see the issue with stuff being cheaper to buy in a town than to "transfer" it there. The transfer feature is essentially as if you were hiring an NPC to carry the stuff to the new town for you. Buying groceries in a town where I am located in real life probably is cheaper than paying to having those groceries shipped halfway across the continent.
He`s right, nothing more to say. I played 500hours and can say the same thing. I never cheated, but i feel ripped off. And the second thing is, endgame is ONLY grinding or wars, theres nothing more... (and i'm in the endgame, but it's to boring for me to farm elite mobs ALL the time). Nearly all your crafting stuff is worthless... most of it you throw away cause you cant sell it. (and the market is broken completely) (until you are high level crafting) No NPC Trader to sell stuff you have to throw away... NPC's are without any soul ... you don't care about them... Story? Where? There is nearly no story... Balance... where? (2hand Hammer for example atm.) No... sorry. For me here is the end (for a few months or forever). Went back to ESO & FF14.
Yea I'm overall at the point with New World where I am really excited to see where it goes, but I'm taking a break from it. 1-30 had me absolutely enthralled, but after that the game felt like it ran out of rewards - All my abilities were the abilities I was going to have until 60, I would get new zones but the quest formula would stay the same, pvp felt fun but was a little too zergy and "all or nothing"
Remember, This Game was only released 4 months ago, Personally I love it,Mutated Dungeons are coming in the January patch. This Video details one persons opinion of the game, he does have some valid points but the Devs DO listen and are really trying imo.
thats the truth tho! i see so many ppl hating in chat and talking that they have 300+ hours. like bruhhh why would u waste ur life on something u hate, its not a job, nobodys forcing u to play lol.
This should be considered the golden review for mmos. Before making the video he has 500 plus hours of experience which is a plus but understands the end game content. He also in his video goes over integral MMO concepts as well as well as things that make New World the game it is. What is best about it is the time to walk you threw and show examples of in game content rather than banter. Asmongold you did a great job thanks for your dedication.
yeah but we need that kind of review BEFORE the game comes out, but that means the game has to be finished before it comes out too (which is never the case now)
I got bored at almost level 40 and stopped playing, to me it felt like playing a Shittier version of ESO....which is a far better game....So I was like...Why am I playing this when I can go back and enjoy the literal mountains of content and pvp in ESO.
The lack of enemy variety is abysmal. I've watched my friends play to max and I just constantly ask, "Going to fight similarly sized humanoids, again?" and the answer is always "You bet."
Really the only thing I’m enjoying about New World rn is experiencing all this first hand with all of you and with my irl friends. It feels good to play a fresh MMORPG. In no way does this game compare to other titles. If this game wasn’t fresh and new it would be totally written off
I agree completely with the conclusion, I have written many times on forums that the end game content and lack of normal decent content, lack of variety in mobs, there are only like 15 mobs or so, maybe also some varietybin the quests, a minimap, its a must for me, I do not like that compass bar, like cod, you need see your environment, where is a mountain, where is a pass. I can't keep spamming M just to see what is behind that mountain etc. This game is a huge dissapointment for me atm, I really hope to see something great things happening in the near future.
That progression reminds me of the Everquest days of spending months farming in hat stupid giant in the desert for Spirit of the Wolf slippers just so you can run faster. Or farming lizard men for unique rogue armor for 3 months.
The one thing EQ did so right, that no MMO's have really done since - most of those items could be used forever, and didn't need to be worn. You could click them from your backpack. So they were permanent upgrades to your character, like unlocking a new skill. Jboots, Guise, CoS, Primal Velium Weapons, Butcherblock Hammer, Lodi Shield, Lodi Eyepatch, etc etc. That's one of the things I loved so much about that game, and what made it worthwhile doing a long camp for an item, because you knew you were never going to replace it, and it would give you a significant benefit. Funny I can remember these items by name 20 years later, but can't remember items really from many other MMO's since. That's how gamechanger they were.
@@guitarskooter yep this is perfectly accurate. And you knew when someone had one of those items and they were known by name on your server. People wearing Planes gear were considered the best of the best. Hell I remember doing my first Plane of Fear raid and having to teleport people in, knowing if I screwed up it was an instant wipe. Haven't really felt that kind of anxiety in an MMO since. FFXIV comes very close.
My only issue with the bugs is that it's a player based economy and once it's broken, it's broken. The amount of duped gold in the game is far in excess and spread out more than anyone actually realizes. I don't think Amazon actually knows how far it's gone. I've played other games with broken player based economies, and while some of them are still around, they only appeal to certain players because for the rest of us, we go in, look at prices, etc. (how much time do I have to spend to earn this or get that) and are like okay this is broken. The one saving grace for New World may be that it appears (from the outside looking in) you may be able to actually gather and craft all the various materials on you're own and get around the market place entirely, but then you're just kind of in the EVE economic situation, which again only appeals to certain players.
Nice when I left the game was the economy was broken in the opposite direction. A lot of people was steadily becoming dirt poor and everyone is undercutting each other on the market for little bit of gold.
@@rickroll9705 Sure but not everyone has gold to even afford the cheap stuff that's the problem mate. Gold is disappearing from the world faster than when it's being created. High pop servers probably don't have this problem since new players are going in and going out but low pop servers are already noticing the long term problems. I don't know if they made reliable source of income since then.
@@NinjapowerMS you gotta decide what your argument is, you cant say everyone has gold and resources but they don't. Truth be told you can get a good amount of gold sellins materials but not manufactured goods. mobs drop gold btw.
@@rickroll9705 When did I say players have zero gold? You can have some gold but can't afford to spend on anything else. It's called not having any expendable income

Awesome video. A lot of these issues have been adressed by now like dungeon chests actually scaling with your personal gearscore (now called expertise) and crafting heavily encourages you to craft the highest tier to level. New type of enemy was introduced (medieval knights) and a new weapon type (void gauntlet). Some nice events like a big turkey boss for thanksgiving and now a winter event for christmas is happening. Still loads to improve on, especially QoL like an updated UI for the auctionhouse and better combat responsiveness, but they are taking huge steps towards improvement. The current state of the game is imo one of if not the best it‘s ever been in

I couldn't agree more with everything that Asmon said here. I reached 60, grinded a lot of watermark (until I questioned my life and stopped) and tried every bit of content there is. He is so on point! I had to quit this game almost 3 weeks ago now due to the fact that I got bored and pissed off by this game and it's lack of love, shitty quest-design (loot x boxes, kill x enemies), the many exploits and the toxic community. I moved over to FFXIV and I'm happy there now.
@@Alestorm117 I'm way past my weeb time. I just didn't change my name cause I couldn't be bothered by that. FF has a nice non-toxic community compared to WoW or especially NW. And you're most likely a NW fanboy judging by your triggered comment, so thanks for proving my point.

The Greatsword enemies you talk about? The tall/scaled up ones have giant gaps between their legs that make spears unuseable against them because the "auto aim" in this game stabs your directly between the giblets and you just whiff air on 80% of your swings.

Or, they do the upgrades then BAM, invasion. No upgrade for you!
Everfall and windsward are empty on my server. Brightwood and monarchs are our hubs
towns also loosing lot of money on chat sales. the expensive things r being sold via chat. no taxes etc. its a lot on my server. any higher value item goes in chat. ppl selling spots for expeditions now too etc etc.
honestly the only way to fix this problem is to have each town have a different crafting station specialization (meaning every town cant make all their stations T5). the linked PXs are too late to do anything, especially since its ultimately geography and the availability of the tier 5 crafting stations that make certain towns more populated than others. And the money is in housing tax a/w.

As he said and many others such as Lazy Peon and KiraTV, 1 - 30 in New World is fantastic, it is a great experience. However that's only part of the game and the turnover rate speaks for how bad the experience is after that point.

Honestly one of the most in-depth and blunt reviews of the game, and I love it. Great work Asmon.
This is just a condensed version of gearing up. Not the best, but also not the worst.

Meanwhile all mats that aren't on the 'ideal crafting path' have zero value, and even end-game materials have only so much value because everyone's producing them and eventually nobody needs them.
capitalism lmao

You have not seen patch 1.1 at this time i suspect?
I think I've played around 50 hours. I stopped playing the game two weeks ago, because I was just bored (I'm currently at lvl 35). I enjoyed the game for the most part because it is fun to go through the world and the combat and crafting are interesting, but for me the game needs more:
- More enemy variety
- While being beautiful as a whole, the world itself is very repetitive. There are to many reused assets and almost no recognizable landmarks.
- Factions need more identity (through story and characters). Right now they are just colors
- Small scale PvP
- PvP in general needs to be more rewarding.
- Better questing. New World has probably the worst questing I've ever seen in a big MMORPG.
- More "lore" and story. This obviously is strongly connected to the questing and faction part.
- More weapons, gear and zones
- A dynamic Open World.
You stopped where a lot of people quit, the lvl 35-40 wall. Seems to be a common thing.
@@samano786 Yeah seems to be the time when the game starts feeling "stale"

@@DJSLANKMAN or…you know… they like different things than you do… and maybe, just maybe…your opinion is not an objective fact.
@@Sammusg or, as seen in the video and what asmon mentioned, it’s objectively negative game design lol

like asmon said the first 30 levels are more than fine and tbh worth 40 dollars...so get it and try it for yourself.
@@KekZWithZ Still, its not the game for me. Its a woodcutting simulator and if I want To actually build something, there are better games for that.
Thanks man! I really wanted a great review of the game and this is waaay more than I could’ve wanted!
The soft cap has minor advantages to going past it, but it only really applies to raids, grandmasters and iron banner (the extreme endgame content, except iron banner, which is the place where non hardcore people will feel it most)
Past the soft cap gear increases can only be farmed a specific number of times, from specific content (one from doing x strikes, from x pvp, from x gambits, from a certain mission, etc) resetting each week.

You MUST stamp out exploits as fast as you can with extreme prejudice.

>loot an item off an npc
you just described the majority of quests in just about any game that has quests/missions.
world of warcraft, guildwars 2, sly cooper, okami, etc.
The irony being a real artisan probably made 18,000 pairs of boots by age 30 to get to that point too :)
This is a very fair review and as a person who loves the game I appreciate this.
"It's like having a million dollar home, and inside is stuff from the side of the road" made me chuckle
I never cheated, but i feel
ripped off.
And the second thing is, endgame is ONLY grinding or wars, theres nothing more... (and i'm in the endgame, but it's to boring for me to farm elite mobs ALL the time).
Nearly all your crafting stuff is worthless... most of it you throw away cause you cant sell it. (and the market is broken completely) (until you are high level crafting)
No NPC Trader to sell stuff you have to throw away... NPC's are without any soul ... you don't care about them... Story? Where? There is nearly no story...
Balance... where? (2hand Hammer for example atm.)
No... sorry. For me here is the end (for a few months or forever). Went back to ESO & FF14.
I really hope they fix these issues, I am lvl 50 now, but lvl 40 gear, I am just gathering and crafting and loving it.
I'd love to see Asmon do this for WoW. Everything from his perspective on the endgame to the new player's experience in Retail.
then gets trashed by blizzard employees over twitter
Just give up on WoW the devs alrdy killed it
Wow is done, if you werent playing it from around like 2006 til 2014 you missed everything anyway
"Nobody plays 500 hours of a game they hate" Damn that one hit hard on me for some games
thats the truth tho! i see so many ppl hating in chat and talking that they have 300+ hours. like bruhhh why would u waste ur life on something u hate, its not a job, nobodys forcing u to play lol.
500 hours for “it’s bad”
he's doing gods work for us.
I think some movies or animes are bad and garbage by definition but you can still enjoy it.
Tbf he has God knows how many hours In WOW and came to the same conclusion
@@richardshiflett5181 it's an idiom
500 hours for: here's how it could be improved because I enjoy it and want it to be better.
In my experience, I saw the same 12 people in ESO's instanced PvP for weeks because of how dead it was.
@@itgoeseverywheree1993 that's because people play in cyrodiil, not battlegrounds
ESO is complete junk!
I want this game to succeed so bad and I hope that they can turn this into something great.
That progression reminds me of the Everquest days of spending months farming in hat stupid giant in the desert for Spirit of the Wolf slippers just so you can run faster. Or farming lizard men for unique rogue armor for 3 months.
Hell yes, brother.
I feel you, or farming for Ykeshas!
That sounds hellish
A lot of people was steadily becoming dirt poor and everyone is undercutting each other on the market for little bit of gold.
nobody cares about ingame economy specially when everything just gets ultra cheap thats reality.
The storage costs for transferring items is literally just a gold sink mechanic to take gold out of the economy.
That said, still hate it lol
It doesn't get one bit of coin from me. Of course, that's because my faction has one territory, but still... lol
Problem is there are a shit load of gold sinks in the game but only a every small tap introducing gold. Especially when there are nearly empty servers (people begging for others to join opr), biweekly economy freezes, etc.
@@Vanlifecrisis End game coin is suppose to be mb and outpost rush but yea the economy freezin every other week hurts that plus low pops.
The fact that theres already "new world refugees" in FF14 reddit says something about new world KEKW
Where were ff14 players after a year. Haha
Yep thats me... moved from new world to ff14
Not really as there is always a large amount of people not sticking with a game they tried out.
@@schism2k9 yes, this is the shit that was debunked millions of times, but let me say one thing, I played new world for 40-50hours, but it can't even compare to Final Fantasy.... it's just a boring game, with nothing to do, just grind grind and grind more in the most boring way possible. There is a difference between weeb and fantasy, haters always talk about weeb when they don't even know what a weeb is.

Rising!
What are you even talking about?
FINAL FANTASY XIV is the ONLY Subscription based game in the World that keeps RISING every year for the past 10 years.
How did you manage to dispute your own point you were trying to make LMAO.
me and my friends all got banned for 24h for disruptive behavior, we messaged live support and made webtickets to ask for the reason. They said they dont know why but dont want to unban us, because there has to be a reason. Guys if you ever should get banned, theres no way to get you unbanned. GL
You weren’t banned you were suspended. Also there is a way to get unsuspended, wait 24 hours
@@pjdlol A temp ban and a suspension are the same thing. Don't be an ass. This game's ban system is completely broken.
The current state of the game is imo one of if not the best it‘s ever been in
Best MMO streamer. Best takes, great streams, engaging, funny. Great review brother
Glad to see that you’re still working hard on content and enjoying things that you could before. Continue doing things that make you happy and take up a lot of your time and let the grieving happen slowly, all the best admin :)
I couldn't agree more with everything that Asmon said here.
I reached 60, grinded a lot of watermark (until I questioned my life and stopped) and tried every bit of content there is.
He is so on point!
I had to quit this game almost 3 weeks ago now due to the fact that I got bored and pissed off by this game and it's
lack of love, shitty quest-design (loot x boxes, kill x enemies), the many exploits and the toxic community.
I moved over to FFXIV and I'm happy there now.
Don't come back
@@Bashyd how little must you be to gatekeep new world of all things. You pathetic little child.
@@Bashyd no one will unless it shapes up drastically. Game is just not very good for 'main MMO' type of thing as it is currently.
Same shitty ffxiv weeb comment lol
@@Alestorm117 I'm way past my weeb time. I just didn't change my name cause I couldn't be bothered by that. FF has a nice non-toxic community compared to WoW or especially NW. And you're most likely a NW fanboy judging by your triggered comment, so thanks for proving my point.
If they introduce naval rpg and combat, it'll be a gamechanger. I grew up playing games like Pirates of the Caribbean Online and Bounty Bay / Voyage Century Online, and I long for a current-gen exploration-era naval mmorpg.
You just cant change your complete game from pvp to pve.
It shows everywhere, the community killed this game.
I will wait for 2.0 because New World is broken beyond repair for me atm.
@Obito Uchiha I like your vast vocabulary.
@Trade Bum Simmons it is a combination of an inexperienced developer and the community that always wants the same game.
@Obito Uchiha that name, stick to your weeb games
The illustration of the horse is so accurate. I stop playing at level 40 knowing that I was playing for nothing.
How fun a game can be with Just 3 spells? On top of that with High CDS

@@xaby996 yeah u clearly didn't play the game. stop taking everything from social media and youtube content farmers sereuslly they are full of sheet
Oh well, back to ESO, still the best MMORPG out there BY FAR
I just looked up current player-counts for different MMO's, it's interesting to say the least:
• New World: 144.000
• The Elder Scrolls Online: 370.000
• Forza Horizon 5: 1.002.000
• Forza Horizon 4: 12.000
• Final Fantasy 14: 44.000
• Final Fantasy 11: 33.000
• World of Warcraft: 65.000
• Phantasy Star Online 2: 69.000
• Genshin Impact: 235.000
Damn Genshin is doing pretty good definitely feels like an anime MMO.. Forza is an MMO? Is that right? cant be can it? New World 144? looks like ESO is doing good too.. lol i didnt even notice ff14 is on the list..
@@good_playlists Yeah Forza Horizon (not regular Forza) is an actual Racing-MMO as weird as that may sound.
Oddly enough FF14 is being really small for all the attention it got this year.
But what really surprised me was FF11 being so close to FF14 and still having a rather large playerbase in 2021 in general.
@@WooferPoof Where are you getting your numbers for xiv?
@@WooferPoof Dang did not know racing games have become that huge where there are MMO's of them didnt know that many people play those types of games its good.. yea FFXIV is still growing even getting singers i think in Hololive Pekora and Irys to play the game so its getting a little more attention.. Asmon is taking a break from it for IRL reason which is completely understandable to anyone.. Still getting new players like Pint, JoCat, Captain Grim, Preach Gaming, Bellular most of them are just starting the game not far into it i'm honestly surprised myself that FFXIV hasn't grown a lot more MSQ does take awhile to complete they all seem to be having fun though in there own way i think most of them love the Gold Saucer with the mini-games and such.. Probably a lot of WoW players are still having trouble making the jump to other MMO's in general i think a lot of it has to do with there faith in the game and hoping it gets better but reading all the articles that are going on with Blizzard you do feel bad want them to at least have options.. I've heard Lost Ark is doing pretty good too heard nothing but good things about the game..
