Love your chill, no bullshit editing and narration style. I feel like that is hard to find on UA-cam nowadays. Always enjoy your challenge runs especially, and I hope you keep them coming. Cheers for the entertainment!
Hey there! This is the first video of yours I've seen. I heard your name mentioned by another FF UA-camr I used to watch quite frequently but didn't think anything of it at the time. Happy to be here!
I definitely enjoy this style of video. Gives a deeper view of the challenge than most of the more "highlighty" videos that are often used, but still cuts out a lot of the parts that are more fun to play than to watch.
Wow, this is really interesting! When I first saw the title, I thought I'd like to see if it was possible but that it wouldn't be a very interesting run, since you're leaving everything up to the automode. But no: there really are so many decisions that can be made regarding the weapons, and that brings to the forefront all sorts of things that don't really get to shine in ordinary runs, such as the weapon drops! That's what I really love about this game: there is just so much in it and so many ways to play that you'd never normally need, that even all these years later I can still find totally new ways of playing the game! :D
1:00:44 I did that! You get halfway; once Airship unlocked everything slaughters you; BTW I had actually unlocked everyone's board on all their grids, legit, before reaching my Endgame stretch; I was preparing to fight the Side-Boss at the end of the temple with mobs stronger than Sin's Mobs; BTW you can progress to your point where you 1-shot before moving on; it's way easier than you might think; Bombs had that Fire equipment you wanted earlier.
Great idea for a challenge! My thoughts went to Biran and Yenke, as you'll struggle to grind that one out, and Yunalesca would need some serious armours...with those restrictions. Looked tricky getting to Kilika never mind Gagazet, or even Zanarkand 🙂
its nice to have you back man i mean obv you do other content and youv got to but ffx is what i came to you for and always will and watch all your lets play on all ff games but ur ffx lets play are some of the best on youtube by far
Thanks for all your great ffx challenge run videos, i was able to beat seymour natus on nsg because of your video! I hope Berk sees your comment, youre a ffx legend!
Hey Garland, working on an AI mod to be used with my custom sphere grid + sin unleashed for FFX. Should be an interesting playthrough if you'd care to mess around with it when it comes out.
The hardest challenge in this is gonna be bosses that counter physical attacks. Especially ones like spheremorph that are supposed to be dealt with magically.
As a kid I would just use attack and get really annoyed having to use the other 99.9% of the mechanics. Can’t believe I spent the majority of these game pushing one button. Now I use “haste” so I’m slowly exploring the game. I should start using items by the time I retire
I didn't know what leveling up was, thought I was just shit at the game but turns out I was doing a no grid challenge without realising, no hi potions either. Got pretty far too lol.
I have 100%'d FFX more times that I can remember, first time I used way to much magic, next time I used way to much items... Now I spam Attack and Quickhit, make sure items are have auto-haste. The only reason to not use attacks-only is because you are "under leveled" (you haven't gone in to Aurons tree with Tidus, Wakka and Rikku). If you need more "damage" output, give Rikku a weapon with Stonetouch and Deathtouch .
I had a go at doing this challenge for the very start of the game. The save sphere after Sinspawn Ammes is a lifesaver since demi can't kill you, but it can reduce your HP so you get killed in the next battle if you don't heal. I have a feeling I missed it during my first playthrough, so its nice to know it's there.
sup, befor i start watching just wanna say thx for the idea, seen the vid recomended a few times in the past and decided to actually get started on this yesterday too (made it to Operation Mihen so far), havin some good luck with elemental and status weapon drops so far actually made things quite managable till now too, will be grinding while watching xD
How did you not get stuck during the wedding using the cutscene remover? I know it's designed for speedruns and not normal playthroughs but that tool has gotten my saves soft locked every single time I've used it during the cutscene for the yuna wedding. They all just stand there and nothing happens and the auto save happens right there. This was like 6 months ago, so maybe it's been fixed.
Its so refreshing to have Kimarhi get some love, I always want to use him more but he always ends up getting shelved, removed from party and falls behind rather quickly.
I did my first CSR speedrun last night and boosters allows auto battle so i had the thought "how far could inget with using only auto battle" and you have a new series for me to binge lol. I thought it was original but excited to bind watch these before trying myself
I've done one run live focusing on attacking only, but still allowed enemy selection (and character swap only if the game forces a group that wasn't the one I set while in the menu). Sinswpawn Gui was a massive pain but with a stronger Auron, I was able to do the 2nd phase without killing the head. It will be interesting to see what strategy those additionnal restrictions require late in the game. Cheers ! :D
I’m currently doing a podcast around beating as many of the Final Fantasy games using attack only! I’m really looking forward to X. This video has given me hope!
I'm loving this series and looking forward to "Season 2". I started upntuis challenge myself today with a couple thoughts on how I may want to try things differently.
I actually watched part 2 first. But I enjoyed it so much I had to see how you handled the sin spawn at the beginning. Also I figured you would use trigger commands for the first water boss. I never thought to just defend when it goes behind the pillar.
Dansg, the thing about 2-4 hour long videos is that if we are busy, we can always study/work while listening to it. So, that's something to keep in mind if it's something you prefer to do. Cheers
Nice to see new or unpopular challenges coming up.. After completing NSNONI my sorry arse is still scared to do NSG so I've been aiming to do a Boss rush type of run in the HD remaster version
Thanks Dansg08, love the videos. The FFX heralds know when I have started to forget about the game and send you here to renew my love for Blitzball and Auron. Now I need to start playthrough though!
Super hyped for any ffx video but this is amazing! Just surprised the Kimahri fight in Besaid didn’t make the cut. I’ve always considered it a boss battle. I’m sure it was straightforward but I’ve died there being too confident 😅
I mean maybe it's just me but one of my favorite things is long videos. If you ever made a channel for your full footage I would be the first one there! UA-cam remembers where I left off so lay it on me! This is one of my top favorite games ever and has been since I was a kid so I would LOVE your full footage :D
For some reason I'm endlessly entertained by FF challenges. Some of the games, like 7, are beatable with an insane amount of restrictions. Very interested to see if pure auto-attack is possible with this one!
I love that after so many years you still find new ways to play and enjoy your favourite game. Can't wait to see how you deal with some of the obstacles that this will bring. Glhf
I assume this is the logical progression of one guy doing a no sphere grid challenge and then a bunch of gamefaqs users saying it's impossible with additional restrictions.
JUST Saying I don't know how useful this is but ALL the rng in battles can be calculated just after the title screen , making getting specific items super easy , definitely worth looking into , its used a lot almost essential in speedrunning
Thank you so much for the first part of this I really enjoyed it things got really hairy there with the sinspawn fight attack only video I can't wait to see what part 2 will be like with Seymour and upward like you said things are only going to get harder this is a very interesting way to play Final Fantasy 10 thanks for doing the video keep up the great work Dansg08 👍
So, real world moment... I always thought, "Where is the ATB battle against the rest of the passengers on the Liki after 'Team Yuna' essentially attaches Sin to the boat with a harpoon gun and gets them tossed around the ocean like a tetherball gone wrong?"
Ooh I am so down for FFX challenges. (Imo the biggest challenge in Elden Ring was finding the desire to finish the thing lol) I'm glad you liked it, and that we both love FFX! Do you wish for X-3 someday?

Is there a threshold for when the Autobattle turns back on for the Sin's Fin fight? It seems like most people think it's impossible to use entirely during that fight, which stinks because it's the best/easiest early game farm for sphere levels and Gil. I've set up an autoclicker before, which kind of worked, but it only worked at normal speed and had some delay issues, so it wasn't worth it at all from a time/reward scenario. After thinking about this one a bit more, gonna try and make some predictions. 1. Seymour/Anima will be the first big grinding point. 2. Evrae will be an epic battle for the ages; can only think of a couple ways around Stone Gaze, so looking forward to seeing your fight vs it. 3. The challenge will be vastly transformed depending on whether you grind out Auto-Phoenix on the Highbridge or not. 4. Spectral Keeper will be the hardest boss, but he will end up beatable. 5. Sin's Arms will be the most boring boss. 6. The challenge will be completed. Good luck with the run!
The one thing that really makes doing challenge runs in this game a pain, is the unskippable cutscenes. I die to a really difficult boss, and I have to rewatch the cutscene again. Every. Single. Time. I call it the Dark Riku effect. If you've played Kingdom Hearts 1 you'd understand what I mean.
