Sooo did you forget Seymour is weak to poison in most his forms? I am pretty sure Bio is a Black Magic spell. And a surprisingly...large amount of creatures are weak to poison in this game Like Seymour flux for example gets butchered by it.
42:45 You said it was impossible for you to kill Yu Yevon at this stage. But it actually was possible. Every time Yu Yevon uses Gravija, he damages himself for 9,999 damage which he doesn't heal. All you had to do was just defend over and over again until he was in range for Tidus to finish him off.

There’s a chest in the area leading up to Seymour Omnis that contains an armor piece for Yuna that absorbs 3 elements. In my first playthrough I had enough materials to make her immune to the fourth, making her nearly invincible. I also had Shiva with Firaga, very useful when he decided to only use Ice magic.
The celestials would give you Break Damage Limit which probably would have helped. They also just have some very nice stuff like Initiative, MP Cost 1, Boost.
Great work on a challenge that was mostly the opening grind. Though you banned customization, you technically could have looked at gear you could buy from shops or even gotten as drops from certain area mobs as a way to cover your bases mostly for extra hp/mp if you didn't want to go for gear with increased magic damage output or things like auto buffs or even the elemental eater which would have completely erased Seymour's final battle
Genuinely love watching these videos. One of my favourite things in JRPGs is the way their systems can be manipulated. Whether it's completely snapping the balance over your knee like a twig, or limiting how you can play, there's nothing quite like it. I just wish I had the patience to do it myself, but then that's why I love your channel so much. Keep it up Primal!

With each and every challenge you do, you never cease to amaze me with something that just blows my mind that anyone even thought about, and it forever changes my perspective on the game as a whole. "We start things off right at the very start of the game." Literal game changer. How do you do it?
First thing that came to mind was how the macalania albeh machina with the anti magic field would be impossible but after listening to the rules kimahri overdrive will need to one shot it and it should be doable. Cant wait to watch the video.
Enjoyed the video! I found it interesting though that the rules prohibited Lancet (a magical attack) but allowed Jump and Seed Cannon (physical attacks). Magic can't crit (unless it's Nova) so it would have altered the Negator strat a fair bit if only magical attacks were allowed!
You are a braver man than I. As difficult as this was for you on PC, I don't want to think what id have to do for a ps4 run like this. Nightmare fuel. Well done you, though. Keep up the excellent work
Fun challenge! For the Spherimorph, to avoid healing him, just defend until he casts magic. That tell you what the current element is. Then just hit it with the opposing magic :)
I'd LOVE to see the next challenge runs: 1. Beat the game only with 2 fighters present on fights. This means every character might be usable but only 2 at the same time (same effect as if one fighter would escape right at the beginning of each fight). IDK if it's moddable. Also see if you could beat dark aeons, creations, and further opponents. 2. Same as before, but only 1 fighter simultaneously. 3. Beat the game with the monsters and enemies on the actual game until the progress you're on (IDK if it's possible). For example, the first usable characters in ground would be dingo, condor and water flan.

You were wise to dis-allow Lancet. I did a "Kimahri only" run on my PS2 ages ago and Lancet is hilariously broken on characters building their Magic stat, you literally can't die with it outside of instant death mechanics and dealing with undead enemies.

there was a guide id always follow for FFX runs that said all ultimas were shell peircing. i know thats not true cause i tested it personally. maybe they were only talking about seymours
I did thus challenge myself and took it to the extreme and beat all of the dark Aeon besides Anima, who is immune to magic. Dark Bahamut ended up taking me 2 and a half hours... lol. It was brutal. Shiva was also extremely difficult. I'm excited for this one, and for someone else doing the challenge, I did myself!

Absolutely bonkers. In theory this run's core concept gets a lot easier when you reach Mi'ihen, but some of the bosses were certainly more puzzling than normal. I rarely use magic unless it's through Yuna who always ends up with a higher magic stat than Lulu in my runs. It was pretty ballsy to (soft) ban Hastega right before the Flux fight, but you managed so kudos there. Those crashes would've sent my fist through a wall too. Time for an upgrade/driver update maybe? I never had issues with my Steam version thankfully and it ended up being the first platform I'd beat Penance legitimately on.

When mention Blue magic from Kihmari i was like made me question if bypass negator anti-magic field. This was amusing to see.
Fun run; mad respect to the time you put in. I would have melee grinded tidus to go above 12 mp for sure; you have sick commitment. I do think it's funny how you ban haste then immediately decide to use haste instead of grind Kimahari. Edit: Just wanted to specify, this isn't a knock on the run or rules. I just think the juxtaposition is funny.
For anyone wondering, 4X and 2X speed were the cause of the crashes during the Yu Yevon fight. Always turn the speed up off during that fight’s “cutscenes” and those crashes won’t happen.
@@Primalliquid92 I’ll bet you 50 quid that you could go reload that auto save that kept crashing and turn speed up off and it would have been fine. Speed up doesn’t make it crash every time. But every crash I’ve ever had on Yu Yevon was solved by turning speed up off. These speed up crashes have been mentioned by Berk in his videos before. I’m not making this up lol.
"Becomes useless in a normal playthrough" My man has never gotten the early Holy Unlock with Kimahri. Him Holy Nuking can single-handedly carry an entire casual run the moment you get a level 3 sphere (with the sole exception of the underwater sections). I was able to beat everything but the Dark Aeons and Penance using basically just Magic-Carry Kimahri (since my first run I didn't swap people in all the time for XP).
i have got early holy a few times but grinding on bevelle highbridge for 20 minutes is typically enough to get holy with yuna so its a moot point really
I did! I used only Yuna and Lulu with their black magic because I couldn't understand nothing abouth Sphere Grid when I was a child. I did this challenge without knowing! 🤣
This was a fun run. Didn't imagine Tros would be that big of an issue. Liked how you dealt with Negator, it's the most rules-adhering way of doing it imaginable it feels ^^ GG.
"Can you beat FFX with only magic?" The real answer, no. Crawler/Nullifier should have been the end point. Nullifier blocks fury, but not Ronso rage, ergo, ronso rage is not magic. But I get the need for "it's basically blue magic" so that the run had a chance haha 😅 Fun run to watch as always though!
My first time finishing it I was 17. I was replaying ffx with a friend who had never beaten the Evrae fight. When we did the race we took turns and after about 2 hours (and both of us getting exactly 0.0 a few times) I finally got the perfect run. My buddy was so mad he didn't get to be the one who beat it. Good memories
I am definitely going to try this, but Im going to use the farplane editor to make the first grind with rikku less of a headache with x10 AP mod. but only for that first grind
I never had a problem with the chocobo race, the only celestial weapon I never got fully upgraded was Lulu's. Those 200 lightnings are just so boring I loose focus arpund the 100 mark, my best attempt was at 132 dodges.
Still waiting for the radiata stories run primal. I think you'll like it. I don't think I can play the game due to lack of time, but I'd love watching you and grind the heck out of that game
I remember doing the Chocobo Racing on PC. I tried to set up Cheat Engine to give me 0.0 seconds. But since I am a dummy, I had to do the race many many times to set up the Cheat Engine. (Un?)fortunately, I raced so many times while setting up, I got 0.0 along the way.
The next time you decide to do a magic only run Create a Keynote presentation PlayStation 4 and then use the save wizard program to edit your save and only give yourself all items and everything. The only time you’re going to use those items is why did the first after you get your first smell, then you wouldn’t use any more items. Basically what you would do is you would give yourself enough MP spheres to go through maybe 80 100 250 magic points and then after that you wouldn’t use items anymore. You basically would use them to get to that point if you gave yourself the option. On the other hand, you could essentially give yourself all abilities, and if you did that, then you wouldn’t have to go around the sphere grid on the other hand you could do it this way the way I’m suggesting with save wizard give yourself enough MP spheres in the empty spaces that would allow you to go for a little bit and update yourself and you would only use the MP spheres to add to those empty spaces between your starting point and your first spell
there are 2 arrangements of balloons that are even possible. if you dont get them you cant get enough balloons even without a single bird hit to beat the clock. bad luck means people just never see them. and 1 has JUST enough and the other has so many but BIRDS FREAKING EVERYWHERE.

One time I got 0 seconds in the Chocobo race on my first try only to immediately get ambushed by a Malboro and get a game over. I've never been so pissed over a video game as I was in that moment, especially because I wasn't nearly so lucky after reloading my save file
Honestly the Chocobo race in under 0 seconds isn’t too bad. The one mistake most people do is using the analog sticks. Use the D pad and micro correct and you will get it eventually. Controls are clunky no matter what but it makes it way easier I find.
I think at this point noone would blame you if you kept some savestates for early grinding, at least with Tidus and Rikku as prep for you challenges :)
i agree my challenges are 10x lower in viewership than they used to be :( but while people continue to enjoy them atleast i will continue to pump them out
I forget just how good this game is. The only thing that lets out down is the slow start and that the side quests aren't implemented better into the main quest.
About a minute in when commenting but i imeditly think of machina panzer at macilania killing the run as it shuts down all forms of magic and summoning but heres to hoping you found a loop hole

On my second play of FFX this year, I did the 0.0 Chocobo race in my first attempt. I was laughing my arse off at the disbelief haha!
I've beaten it no sphere grid once, only once, I can't imagine how long these videos take to make, you do a great job but still insanity

simple time commitment, figured id try haste to see if speed was all i needed, if it worked then great i saved 3 hours of grinding

For anyone wondering, 4X and 2X speed were the cause of the crashes during the Yu Yevon fight.
Always turn the speed up off during that fight’s “cutscenes” and those crashes won’t happen.
no they were not, i always use speedup during those fights and never have crashes
@@Primalliquid92 I’ll bet you 50 quid that you could go reload that auto save that kept crashing and turn speed up off and it would have been fine.
Speed up doesn’t make it crash every time. But every crash I’ve ever had on Yu Yevon was solved by turning speed up off.
These speed up crashes have been mentioned by Berk in his videos before. I’m not making this up lol.

My man has never gotten the early Holy Unlock with Kimahri. Him Holy Nuking can single-handedly carry an entire casual run the moment you get a level 3 sphere (with the sole exception of the underwater sections). I was able to beat everything but the Dark Aeons and Penance using basically just Magic-Carry Kimahri (since my first run I didn't swap people in all the time for XP).
i have got early holy a few times but grinding on bevelle highbridge for 20 minutes is typically enough to get holy with yuna so its a moot point really
Now just need to have a quick monster catching session then back to the magic only for the Kalm creations
shame you cant capture with magic or i'd have tried the monster arena
Lulu's overdrive (literally worse than a normal spell cast for most spells)
Except in the strangely niche situation of an NSG speedrun where you apply quartet of 9 to her.

I did! I used only Yuna and Lulu with their black magic because I couldn't understand nothing abouth Sphere Grid when I was a child. I did this challenge without knowing! 🤣

On spherimorph use the lower tier spells after it uses elemental shift so you’re not healing it for 4000 😂 great video though!!!

This was a fun run. Didn't imagine Tros would be that big of an issue. Liked how you dealt with Negator, it's the most rules-adhering way of doing it imaginable it feels ^^ GG.
Tros was a complete mindfuck to me tbh i NEVER expected it to be THAT much of an issue

The real answer, no. Crawler/Nullifier should have been the end point. Nullifier blocks fury, but not Ronso rage, ergo, ronso rage is not magic. But I get the need for "it's basically blue magic" so that the run had a chance haha 😅

It genuinely took me like 4 evenings off trying.
My first time finishing it I was 17. I was replaying ffx with a friend who had never beaten the Evrae fight. When we did the race we took turns and after about 2 hours (and both of us getting exactly 0.0 a few times) I finally got the perfect run. My buddy was so mad he didn't get to be the one who beat it. Good memories

I am definitely going to try this, but Im going to use the farplane editor to make the first grind with rikku less of a headache with x10 AP mod. but only for that first grind

I never had a problem with the chocobo race, the only celestial weapon I never got fully upgraded was Lulu's. Those 200 lightnings are just so boring I loose focus arpund the 100 mark, my best attempt was at 132 dodges.
Still waiting for the radiata stories run primal. I think you'll like it. I don't think I can play the game due to lack of time, but I'd love watching you and grind the heck out of that game

I remember doing the Chocobo Racing on PC. I tried to set up Cheat Engine to give me 0.0 seconds. But since I am a dummy, I had to do the race many many times to set up the Cheat Engine. (Un?)fortunately, I raced so many times while setting up, I got 0.0 along the way.
The next time you decide to do a magic only run Create a Keynote presentation PlayStation 4 and then use the save wizard program to edit your save and only give yourself all items and everything. The only time you’re going to use those items is why did the first after you get your first smell, then you wouldn’t use any more items. Basically what you would do is you would give yourself enough MP spheres to go through maybe 80 100 250 magic points and then after that you wouldn’t use items anymore. You basically would use them to get to that point if you gave yourself the option.
On the other hand, you could essentially give yourself all abilities, and if you did that, then you wouldn’t have to go around the sphere grid on the other hand you could do it this way the way I’m suggesting with save wizard give yourself enough MP spheres in the empty spaces that would allow you to go for a little bit and update yourself and you would only use the MP spheres to add to those empty spaces between your starting point and your first spell

there are 2 arrangements of balloons that are even possible. if you dont get them you cant get enough balloons even without a single bird hit to beat the clock. bad luck means people just never see them. and 1 has JUST enough and the other has so many but BIRDS FREAKING EVERYWHERE.

Shoulda let Khimari get his ODs. Most of them scale with magic (ridiculously well!). A magic based Khimari literally oneshots Biran and Yenke turn 1.
One time I got 0 seconds in the Chocobo race on my first try only to immediately get ambushed by a Malboro and get a game over. I've never been so pissed over a video game as I was in that moment, especially because I wasn't nearly so lucky after reloading my save file

Honestly the Chocobo race in under 0 seconds isn’t too bad.
The one mistake most people do is using the analog sticks. Use the D pad and micro correct and you will get it eventually.
Controls are clunky no matter what but it makes it way easier I find.
I think at this point noone would blame you if you kept some savestates for early grinding, at least with Tidus and Rikku as prep for you challenges :)

i agree my challenges are 10x lower in viewership than they used to be :( but while people continue to enjoy them atleast i will continue to pump them out

I forget just how good this game is. The only thing that lets out down is the slow start and that the side quests aren't implemented better into the main quest.
