The lead singer has always been Tobias Forge. The character of Papa Emieritus (and Cardinal Copia on Prequelle) , as well as the nameless ghouls, have undergone an 'evolution' every album which involves 'killing' the Papa character every time
To answer your question, there has only been one lead singer and that is the legend Tobias Forge. We have had Papa Emeritus I, II and III and then we had Cardinal Copia who is now Papa Emeritus IV. Still eagerly waiting for you to react to the entire Impera Album 🙏
No matter what Papa version, it is always Tobias. The different Papa versions are just different characters usually refreshed ahead of a new album cycle.
Really enjoyed seeing your reaction, and how excited you were to discuss the ideas that came from the song and the video. I would suggest diving deeper into the lyrics of songs like Kaisarion or Respite on the spitalfields.
Hi guys, so its the same singer from the beginning of the band but the persona of the different papas changes each album. Tobias Forge changes outfits and masks through the years but the lead singer is always him
Great reaction. I love Death Metal and play Death Metal. But love Ghost lol. I am a weird one. I also like DuranDuran. This was when Martin was still playing with Ghost. Him and Tobias are friends and they came up with classics. He is also the only member to not be fighting Tobias lol. Hope you will react to Yngwie Malmsteen: Black Star (Live) on his UA-cam channel. You will be blown away by his guitar playing.
I must be weird too, as I also enjoy Duran Duran.. also enjoy death metal, Ghost, and pretty much everything since Black Sabbath/Dio onward through the big 4 of Thrash plus King Diamond/Mercyfukl Fate on to Meshuggah though to Gojira and Jinjer. Too much music and not enough time to enjoy it all lol
Ohh, one of my favourite tracks from then. Also it amuses me how Smokey's headphone cable makes the tv on his shirt look like it's got some interference going on XD
U heard If You Have Ghosts? It's their cover of Roky Erickson, who was a psychedelic TX rocker. Roky was a unique artist who wrote Spooky shit and he could do this eerie wail but also sing like a regular rootsy dude. Lots of demons, vampires etc. The doc about him You're Gonna Miss Me is a great film
sleep token is nothing like old ghost imo. Theres so much groove omission from sleep token that ghosts first 2 albums have front to back. Maybe its newer stuff I haven't even wanted to listen to the newest ghost album because of those elements. They dont belong in a rock band. Some of them like the more atmospheric stuff belongs more in funeral doom and black metal.
The verse & opening riffs of Pinnacle to the Pit actually reminds me of Alice in Chains. But then the chorus just launches me into Forgeworld. No other way to put it. It's his world, we just live in it
I'll say it again: I'm metalhead. Death, Black, thrash, grind, all of it. Ghost isnt metal and I freaking LOVE THEM. Ghost is like an evolving psychedelic meets progressive meets arena rock - w dashes of solid metal hooks so you know who's in charge. Composed by a dude w solid metal cred.
Ah, nothing like a little light faux-Devil worship. You mentioned Maiden- the first time I saw Ghost, they were opening for Maiden, so yeah, Bruce & the boys were early adopters. Great job, and Rock On! 🤘😎👍
I might be wrong, but it was called "running the gauntlet". goes back literally hundreds of years as a corporal punishment, referenced at least as far back as Voltaire
All those papas were the same person Tobias forge since the beginning lol. love those 3 first ghost kind of more "metal"albums ain't a fan but I appreciate them before getting a famous band by the way I like the art deco stuff on this video tobias knew exactly what he was doing with it.
My 2 favorite ghost songs are cirice and year zero. Hollywood your explanation is what I believe. Think of a bad divorced family to their kid(s). One ALWAYS bad mouths the other and the other just wanted to spend time with their kids. Ask yourself this, is it God or Lucifer that talks bad about the other non stop? How many have died in the name of god vs the name of Satan? Makes you think.
Independence from God is a staple in the Satanic church, "serve above or be a king below". A7X uses that line in a few songs to depict turning from servitude to selfworship
What is Bubbgum metal? I haven't ever heard of this type of metal. Okay, this song is pretty fire.😊🖤🔥🤘 I like the guitar riffs. Also I like how chunky the bass is.😊
You were absolutely right about the Freemasons. If Im not mistaken they used original footage from some German propaganda movie about freemansons ritual. Ive seen similar documentary too.
You're talking about Freemasons. I've never watched this video though I've heard the song before. The song "Square Hammer" you've reacted to is about Freemasonry. I think the singer is a Freemason. But it's strange because they are (at least were) Christians. And they've always been very secretive about their rituals which they show in this video and sings about in Square Hammer. Maybe it's a campaign to get people interested again?
Smokey’s analysis may be getting to the meat of the meaning, of course Ghost is always cryptic and often use double meanings. But just to add my two cents, it has been stated: Lucifer often masquerades as an angel of light. He was also the first archangel and was said to be the most beautiful. John Miller paints the picture that his original plan was the overthrow of the throne but when that failed, he was cast down. So, his second plan, since he knew he couldn’t overthrow the throne, he would foul all God’s creations through the corruption of man. Basically I’ll break all your toys
I used to not like Ghost because I hate super theatrical music bands with it being a substitute for good music. And the choir like choruses I've never really enjoyed. This song made me reconsider I like it a lot. Are there anymore songs from them like this one?
Just wanted to let you know. New Imminence album the Black drops April 12. I don’t know why I’m telling you this because you never do their videos anyways.
Since yall have done Ghost who Parody Satanic symbolism, I think it’d be fun for you to check out a band that is all about the Satanism. I have no affiliation in particular, but the song suggested below feels like a rally cry for Satanists. Pumps you up. I’d love to suggest Dissection’s “God of Forbidden Light”
Dude, Lucifer wasn't the Angel of Music, and he isn't even a part of the bible. He is a translation mistake. Neither has satan anything to do with music.
The "Ghost-Thing" is a miracle for me as a metal fan. The voice of Forge is so thin. He's a very bad singer, thre are thousands of much better singers. Some songs might be not bad, but the voice can't keep pace with them. In my opinion Ghost is one of the overrated bands.
He is not a strong vocalist but Ghost fans are incredibly loyal and hear what they want to hear I think. His charisma, writing ,stage presence and writing make up for it.He practically floats across the stage and has an undeniable sex appeal. So it's easy to forgive his lack of vocal ability. There are certain songs he's quite good, but training would be recommended or he's not going to be able to continue touring. All in all, theyre fun, theatrical, the crowds adore them.Methinks T.Forge might want to take some time off tho,he seems tired.Hes a creative person and this might be getting old .Just my thoughts.
@@patricialehrke7688No clue why people think Tobias is a bad singer. He actually has a very strong powerful voice in my opinion. He’s written some great vocal lines
I really dislike everything after the album this comes off of Meliora.. From before they got signed to that album I was a huge fan. I have one of the first pressing releases before it got re-released on a big label when they got signed. Love the space rocky first album. that shit is a masterpiece. So is the 2nd album but after that its became less so. They changed the music heavily from the imageries stereotypical sound in to something more operatic which I just dont like. This albums pretty good but forging further in to operatic elements rather than like occult, church, satanist stuff. I knew a lot of people who always hated the gimmick but that's what occult rock is supposed to be.
Musically speaking, there is nothing new under the sun ,ever.I think there's more creativity around Ghost than a lot of bands, or old people like me ,who grew up with the best music, woukdnt be giving them the time of day.Theyre bringing scores of fans, young and old, into stadiums and people are having fun. Do I like the whole Satan shtick? No,it's lame.I like their sound.Id like to see T.Forge do something different besides the yay Satan stuff, because he's capable.
There are so many better bands out there. I do not understand why people like Ghost, Sleep Token, whatever Ronnie Radke's band is called, etc. Can someone please explain why they like these bands? Honest question, not trying to be a dick. I can defend my musical taste as well.

The bass when i heard this live fuckin rumbled in my chest. Being 3 rows from the stage was absolutely incredible.
A fucking classic. Sounds new and old at the same time
Ghost lyrics are so multifaceted. So brilliant in many ways!

This is my favorite Ghost song, the studio version is not bad, but you HAVE to watch them perform it live, it's so much heavier!!

Yay!!!!! More Ghost
Brilliant! I love that you can tell Tobias wrote this on bass. Thanks for doing more Ghost, please do Zenith & Faith 🙏
The movie parts of the video are from a Cecille B. DeMille movie Madame Satan.
part of which was refurbished from a silent movie called Metropolis, in which man had forsaken God and created a Utopia.
Honestly, when I first saw Ghost I thought it was stupid. And now I'm a big fan of them! 🤩👻
This was the first song by Ghost that I ever heard. So glad to see you guys covered this!

There is a live in-studio version of this somewhere that is great. Though, the best version has yet to be professionally recorded: live in-concert.

Facts. I don't hate on a band for making music they want to make, even if it's to make it onto pop radio, but your comment is just a fact 🤷♂️
Lucifer is the light bringer. The angel of the morning star. His name comes from Latin. Luci - sun or light and Fer - to bring.

Then why they make you give up God and make you kneel to a different "God"?
