The hilarious thing about this video is that it's Papa Emeritus II, supposedly without his face paint on. Of course, it's still a mask! It's all so tongue-in-cheek, and humour is a big thing with Ghost. The Gibson RD's in the video are indeed rare, they are complicated beasts, by all accounts, with Moog preamps... they were eventually replaced in about 2017/18 by the Swedish-made Hagström Fantomens, whose shape is similar, but more modern. I've ordered one myself (I play guitar...) Such a catchy tune, even though it's one of their oldest.
These 2 RDs are modern reissues and don't have the Moog preamps.. although Omega does also own a vintage RD that he sometimes used at shows. However the Moog electronics were bypassed in that vintage RD, too Right - the Hagström Fantomen debuted for the 2017 tour. However the designers never got to play them live with Ghost, sadly. Cheers
@@Wagoo I didn't realise they were reissues... of course, the new(er) 'white guitar ghoul' (Per Eriksson) only played it for one tour cycle. He now plays Strats with hotrails and tremelo arms. The black one still makes an appearance, though, with whomever happens to be on the other side of the stage... I think they've been through at least 2 players since 2017. I personally like the Fantomens, I tried a white Custom recently. My only gripes are that a) it doesn't have a tremelo arm, which I use a fair amount, and b) it is BIG (I am not). These are probably what moved Eriksson away from them. But the one I tried however really, really sang. So I have ordered a black one, hoping it will not look too big on me. I will probably keep it in drop D tuning and bring it out occasionally...
@@iansimmons735Most ghost fans refer to Per's ghoul as "Sodo", according to his nickname "Sodomizer" 🫶 makes stuff a lot simpler to have nicknames for the ghouls!
Hey guys! So last Fall, Ghost ended their tour with two big shows in L.A. And today, they announced they have a *movie* on the way, soon! Coool! I'm interested to see this new chapter in their extensive mythology. Haha. Rock on! 🤘😎👍
Great reaction. Ghost are such a solid band. Great, catchy songs, and amazing musicianship. This is live, and they sound amazing. Some people complain they aren't "metal" enough - that doesn''t matter to Ghost (or their fans). They are an amazing band. Good call on the RD's. For the next tour, they had Hagstrom develop the Fantomen, which is very RD-inspired.
If you want something cool and different that i think you will both like try reacting to "kiki rockwell burn your village" i think you both will like it .
why anyone would waste their time on a band that is obviously satanic & evil and flaunts it is mind boggling, they produce nothing that brings any redeeming value artistically or lyricaly
Hmm... I disagree, not in the least satanic. If you think that, you've missed the point. It's all tongue-in-cheek. The lore shows it's all nonsense and theatre. I'm a 64-year old rocker and I haven't heard anything so inventive, humorous, eclectic, joyful, satirical, intelligent, melodic and heavy at once, musically interesting without being prog (though I love prog), and lyrically challenging (yes it is, and you can spend hours Googling the meaning of some of the lyrics) since the '70s. Tobias Forge is unusually well-read, it shows in those lyrics - which is an extraordinary thing, considering English is not his first language. He is also a supreme crafter of songs.
@@iansimmons735 well, I'm happy you've managed to convince yourself, but ask any musician and song writer, they choose what to portray & write , and this is is in NO WAY "tongue n cheek" this is what they espouse and beleive
@@nicod1361 In the early days (first 2 albums, mainly), the satanic thing was pushed heavily to cause a stir, along with various Roman Catholic tropes. Tobias Forge admitted even then it was purely a band image thing. He doesn't believe in the Biblical Satan (neither do I, for that matter). He is an agnostic. Nevertheless religious hypocrisy is regularly satirised. The songs are deep, very deep sometimes. Just because they aren't about lost loves, motorbikes or cars doesn't make their subject matter any less potent.
You obviously don't know a good gimmick when you see one. The image, the subject matter. Nothing brings in more publicity and money than riling up the holier than thou hyprocrisy of the religious or ignorant. It's no different to the sort of messages early Rock'n'Roll received or KiSS or Arthur Brown, Alice Cooper...etc...etc. Frankly, while people are busy being outraged and offended over nothing, these people are laughing all the way to the bank. It's no different to Stryper putting out years of religious albums about a God who won't let you into 'heaven' if you don't believe in him. There's been far more evil and wars started in the name of 'God' than there ever has by a supposed 'Satan'. So both figments of peoples imagination are equally 'evil'. Ghost are just a band, it's just a gimmick, it's just music. If anyone is gullible enough to take it all seriously, it's people like yourself. Lighten up 🙄

Amazing, you should react to more songs of them from the Opus Eponymous album (Ritual is one of them).
Love this song.

I don't remember pop sounding like this? Have I missed something? (you're like 50, get out of here lmao)
What would make them a ‘rock’ band?
Pop Is dead
