Life Eternal got to me too. Many times. My sister, my mother, so many people I've lost throughout the years. "this is the moment of just letting go." I couldn't believe a Ghost song would make me cry either. Especially from listening to the debut album first and hearing their releases in order. A different kind of heavy. I also found it neat that the first album has a dark and heavy song called "Death Knell" and I got super excited about an actual 'death knell' leading into the track "Life Eternal". Clever dude, that Tobias. Thank you for this reaction. I look forward to you checking out the first two albums when you get there. Cheers!!
The tone shift and bell at the end of Helvestesfonster has always meant one thing to me: that’s when one of the lovers from Dance Macabre finally passes. It’s a funeral bell. The cold wind picks up, and the bells continue into Life Eternal.
I know you commented this over a year ago, but i just had to butt in: The two lovers in dance macabre are Papa Nihil (or papa 0) and Sister Imperator. Nihil is technically dead so i guess that could be it🙏 You probably know this already by now lmaoo
Dance Macabre was my first Ghost song! I heard it on the radio in 2018 on my way to work. I was like, damn, this is a bop. After I heard it a few more times, I was like, that's it, wtf is this band, I need them in my life, and never looked back, lol. I'm really enjoying watching you go through each album, too! I also fell in love with Tobias's voice. Everytime you explain how his voice sounds to you, I'm like "Yes! Someone who gets it!!" Lol. Also, you're adorable and super pretty! 🩷
One thing to note about this album; it was written under the cloud of old band members taking Tobias to court, so many of the songs are written about that. Songs like 'Rats' and have the double meaning from the real life stuff ("they're still coming after you...") and the plague metaphors of the album theme.
I feel like if you listen to meliora and then prequelle it's for the best if you listen to Impera next. If you do opus or infestisumam it's going to throw you out of the loop for sure, they're way different and more primitive if you know what I mean? Sonically and theatrically way darker and less poppy than the last 3. So yeah, that's why I think you need to listen to Impera next and then the other 2(Opus and infestisumam)
Opus and Infestissumam are more "churchy" and underground. Theres still something on it and some songs are catchy as hell too but Impera is banger after banger from the beggining to the end. Its such a ride. :D
There's a live recording on youtube of the first or second ever Ghost live performance. Absolutely creepy in a good way! They were completely incognito back then
@@revylokesh1783 I remember my main friend with whom i share new bands/albums/music went to see Mastodon (one of his fav bands at the time) in like 2012 or 2013, and he came back and kept telling me about this crazy band who dresses up like a clergy and plays super occult satanic music that sounds like it’s from the 70’s-80’s. And how they were totally anonymous and mysterious. I checked them out and Infestissumam was such a cool and unique album, I was so stoked when I got to see them in 2013 open for Avenged. I think I was more excited for Ghost than the headliner 😂 Been a lowkey fav of mine ever since.
Hardcore Ghostaholic made right in front of our eyes! I bet you've watched the Mary On A Cross pro-shot video they just released 900 times. I actually posted a comparison video using fan shot video of the same performance because some in their comments section claimed it couldn't be taken from actual live audio. And... obviously, they're just that good live and deniers need to just get over it. :)
New viewer here and fairly new ghost fan, when miasma is played during a live show one of the background singers/band member (swiss) plays as papa nihil and is “resurrected” on stage to play the sax solo during the song, their shows are incredible:)
Another fantastic reaction - I'm glad you've felt so welcome to the Ghost fandom too! Very happy you loved Rats, Dance Macabre, Witch Image, and Life Eternal - they're definitely my top 4 of this album. Can't wait for you to get to Impera - it has become my favourite of their albums, I love it so much. Hopefully you do too.
Im honestly so scared to listen to their newest one, this album destroyed me, so if Impera is BETTER??? Idk if I will survive lmao! Sidenote, this fandom is so amazing! Nothing but positive experiences so far!
@@hedvigkhaugen Imho Meliora (with zenith and the deluxe edition) is a tiny bit superior to Impera, which is a tiny bit superior to prequelle. The thing is that prequelle is, by FAR their most nostalgic, melancolic anf emotional album, with full on calm rock ballads thay hits you hard. Impera has POWER ballads, which are much less emotional, but i would say that Impera is much more of an Arena rock album (i'm biased because I saw them live for the first time at easter just after they released impera and OMG it sounded so metal) But I also discovered ghost with Prequelle and Dance Macabre in 2018 and thus, prequelle will always be in my heart :D
So yes, If I have an advice for you, it's the following : Get onto impera, LEARN the lyrics, and do everything you can to see them live. It's the most incredible experience I have EVER experience. I rank it at the same level than my first kiss in terms of adrenaline
Prequelle is an amazing experience that really is best heard in order to get the full story. Ashes is so eerie, Rats is when the "fun" begins, we party since we're going to die anyway with Dance Macabre (a proper party track when the band play live!) and then we finish with the death of ourself/a loved on with Life Eternal. Witch Image is an underrated song I think and so is Life Eternal. I find Life Eternal very emotional and cry every time I hear it. It reminds me of the day my Mum died (when I was 24) so it's very tied into that emotion for me. I think if I saw Ghost play it live I'd need someone to hug me and hold me up. See the Light has one of my all time favourite Ghost lyrics: every day that you feed me with hate I grow stronger. I find that line pretty empowering and sing it to myself if I'm dealing with people who are attacking me. Also, if you listen to the guitar riff at the end of Rats, go back to Meliora and listen to Spoksonat. Tobias likes to tease things sometimes - he has songs written years in advance. I'd suggest Impera next. It's also a story (the rise and fall of Empires) but not quite like Prequelle. Impera is also a more old school rock sound (aside from 1 song which is a love/hate) which is fun. Infestissumam and Opus are a very different feel and heavier. Def do go and see Ghost if you can! I went by myself (my first Ghost gig and first gig alone) and had an amazing night with some really great people. Everyone is very friendly.

All their albums are amazing though so you can't really go wrong either way. Also welcome to the Ghost community, I hope you enjoy your stay.
With regards to Witch image - This is my take on your discussion about death. As early as the Roman empire times and probably earlier as well, people tried to remind themselves of the fleeting nature of life and eventual death. Roman conquering generals had a person following them along as they entered the city on their victory parade whispering in their ear that they ought to remember that as high as they were at that point in life and society, at some point they too will fall and eventually die. Memento Mori - Remember your own mortality. This isn't always easy to do, I certainly do not treasure life as much as I should - though the direction it's taken is not entirely my doing - but I feel this is a good thing to keep in mind throughout life generally. I've lost people and watched others do the same. Personally, one very suddenly and unexpectedly and the other not quite as suddenly but fairly quickly. My experience has been that the age-old saying that time heals all wounds is not true. You never stop missing the people you've lost, but that loss becomes a part of you. And it teaches you empathy for others in the same situation. Empathy seemingly being a scarce commodity these days makes this, on the whole, a good thing. Horrifically painful though it might be at the time. If we're approaching the idea of dying from a non-religious point of view (or atheistic if you will) on an individual level I find it fairly easy to deal with personally. It's all rather simple in the end - at one point in time I was not alive and aware of existing and at some point, hopefully far off in the future, I will again become unaware and fade away. The process might be painful depending on how it happens, but once you pass through that metaphorical door any pain or worry you have is over. If I am so lucky that I, beyond having been born and living a decent life in a prosperous part of the world, end up having a family of my own I would probably feel worse about their pain. Or well.. I'd like to think I would. I won't know for sure until and whether that actually happens. Worrying about any of it will only rob me of any joy in the present though. I've far too many other considerations that weigh on my mind already to contemplate something I most probably will have little to no control over anyway. All I can do is hope that when my time comes I won't be full of regrets. Not an easy task for anyone, personally I have plenty already and I'm hopefully not even halfway through life. But I don't even think the point is to check off every item on your mental bucket list of life goals. Approaching things like that leads you into a similar trap that worrying about death does. Simply strive to take chances and opportunities as they present themselves and whether you fail or succeed you at least did not automatically do so through in-action. God knows I've done way too much of that last thing. Finally, it feels like I might be picking myself up and moving on after.. well a bunch of stuff I won't get into right now. Well, so far you have to rely on Sabaton to get to listen to bagpipes. But during Meliora Papa E III played kazoo several times on small live events.
I thought it was their best album until Impera. There is also Meliora.
Welcome to the Clergy.
Tobias pronounces Prequelle like “Preh-kell” (I thought it was “Pre-quell” for so long…)
I just always call if Pre-quell now, I’m to far gone🥲
Tobias: Rrrrrrats
Me: MASTERPIECE
Will you listen to their ep albums like If you have ghost, Popestar and Seven inches of satanic panic.
Maaaybe! I’ve already heard both songs off Seven Inches, but I’ll see about the other EPs!
@@hedvigkhaugen Listen to Bible by itself because you will need an hour to get over it.

Im not gonna read through the comments to see if anyone mentioned this... When you said this sounds familiar, It did... There are recuring melodies... That is why you cant skip the instrumentals... Just kidding, you can if you want,,,
Do you have any headphones you can use? It'll be easier for you to hear and us who watch with you. Music is a bit hard to hear without increasing the volume, and you, quite a bit. But other than that it's great that you've discovered Ghost! Hail Santa!
HAIL SANTA AHAH! Love it!
I wish I could use headphones, but it makes editing a literal nightmare. It would take me a lot longer to publish the videos, so this is the easiest way unfortunately!
Yo cada que escucho Ghost 😅😅
Lol. You got the whole song (rats). Good to see. You're going to love faith.
Play more song. Eff copyright
In a perfect world...
