I'm 57 years old and a complete rookie to scale modeling. Is it me or am I the only one who is intimidated and feels like I will never be this good and my models will never look this good? Great video with so much information packed into just a small amount of time. I hope I'm at least half as good as this man is in a few years.
Great video Evan. As far as I'm concerned, keep making the longer videos. This way I only have to search for one video not a group of them. Again excellent build. It looks fantastic.
Dude out of every tutorial on UA-cam yours are the most detailed and easy to understand as a step by step approach. I appreciate your videos and have watched almost every one.I can't stand other UA-cam that show you but dont talk or they use captions, you really can't learn that way.You have a talent for sure. I know you said you read every comment hopefully you read this one. Subscribed and thanks!
Nothing you do is boring, I've watched them all and you are right on point. As much as I love Night Shift, I wish he would slow down a bit and do it more your style of taping the videos.
Things I enjoyed the most: oil paint weathering on the top of the superstructure and the entire lower hull and running gear weathering. I think you really stepped up your game with this one. Wonderful work dude!
I have two of these in my stash. I love stugs of all types and I hope I can do them justice. You are very good at making painting and weathering look easy and simple to execute. I'm less daunted by panzer grey painting and weathering after watching your great guide.
Very subtle. I've watched this a couple of times now. There are some people on YT who have the knack of the right pace of delivery and just talking easily (even if quickly!), and it makes these videos work; you and Adam both have this. So many I just shut off after a minute or two. I'll probably be watching this again as I've got this kit on the shelf now :)
You’re a great modeler. It’s a very nice video. What a great paint work, wheathering, pin wash etc. the result it’s awesome. Long live to long videos. Thank you
This is the best tutorial I've seen for chipping and scuffs. Really well explained (both technique and what real-world damage you're replicating) and both the brushed on and sponged marks look great
Hey guys! Let me know if you guys prefer the hour-long weathering tutorial format...I've been wondering if the videos might be more watchable if I were to break it down into shorter segments focusing on each weathering step.
I do prefer the long format over these short bits and pieces we can find everywhere else. All effects need context to the vehicle, that is what your guides do better than most others and what makes yours extremely valuable.
I like the hour-length video format. It provides a more comprehensive overview of how each effect contributes to the overall weathering plan for the model.
Hi Panzermeister36. I am coming back to modelling after a very long break and I find your tutorials truly inspirational. The hour-long format is just perfect for me. Others have tried to break up similar tutorials into smaller chunks but personally I prefer your style, and love the continuity of one longer video. Keep up the excellent work.
Truly excellent. I love oil weathering. In fact I recently completely painted and weathered a tank in oils, other than base coat primer, and it's one of my favourite finished models. Thanks for your inspiration 🙏
Everything looks nice but the mud weathering is superb, and you explained the process so nicely, I will use your process on my next model. Keep it up, sir!
This is such a amazing video. Thank you so much for this and just the way you have explained everything makes it easy for a "layman" like me to understand. The chipping explanation especially I thought was very good. The discolouring part was also so simple. Again thank you for this!
I've just ordered a bunch of the products you've used, particularly on this model. Since it's a panzer grey, I'm going to do a Dicker Max by Dragon I've had sitting in the box for a while. Seems like a good starting point, with all the surface area. I've been modeling since I'm five, and now I'm sixty and still looking to do it better. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Panzermeister, I don’t know if you still read these comments (it’s a two year old video) but your skills are amazing! Not only the results but also the way you explain what you do and WHY you do things. This is super useful, thank you very much.
Just Starting out in Modeling......this is the first of your video’s I’ve watched and found it very inspiring......I’ve subbed and will start working through your backlog......the hour video is fine by me....
great explanations on how to move from a bland base paint to the full weathering which make the colours and the tank more realistic and fore me coming back to the hobby having that varnish coat to seal the acrylic paint before moving to the oil paints - having only used enamel paints when I was a kid as that's all that was available back then.
Awesome video, thank you. I'd really like to see a Russian 4BO weathering tutorial next as I have a couple of Russian tanks ready for paint, and I think I could pick up a lot of excellent tips.
Your tutorials are inspiring mate. Great content, informative and most of all easy to follow and put into practice. Thank you and please keep up the excellent work work.
The video that launched my own modelling career haha. I too am a StuG lover, but thank you you my first model and (def not my best) will always be this exact SiG 33 🤟🏻
AWESOME job man it looks great. I love the hour long videos you really get to cover every step and get to explain them. You and Night Shift are the best channels on UA-cam. I have learned so much from watching yalls channels and both of yall are a great inspiration.
Thank you my Canadian cousin. I'm atvtge weathering stage of my dragon kit#6632 pz3 ausf F. Got it invading Russia. It is panzer grey, and I didn't know what colors to use for a panzer grey pin wash. Thank you sir! Your videos help me , a s well as educate me. Only been back in the hobby now 2 years. Thank you
Beautifully done, and thanks for sharing. I was scratching my head on how to make my gray stug look interesting, and here it is, step by step. Your videos are a great resource, so thanks again for sharing your skills and your experiments.
Fantastic video! You have also answered my question about when to varnish in the weathering stage. I must compliment you on the style and clarity of your tutorials which is really helpful to people like me who are new to this aspect of the hobby.
This is the 2nd video I've seen and I am super impressed. I'm new to this part of the hobby and what you've shown is very inspirational. Unfortunately I can see how this will become an expensive habit but regardless, I'm ready to charge ahead. Thanks very much.
Evan, Fantastic. You have slowed your speech pattern slightly and increased your enunciation. As a result the voice matches the closed caption. I had already screwed up a pz4 because of the gray color. I am going to give gray another shot. Thank you.
Great job i love it.just a suggestion For the lenses and lights first paint them with silver then add clear colors with this method you will achieve more realistic results.
Such stunning work! I am about to attempt my first 'realistic' model and hope to follow your great advice here (even if it is a T-34 hopefully its translatable lol)
Great weathering tutorial Evan. My style is very similar to yours and although tanks and various other vehicles never really lasted that long in combat I still like to add chips etc for interest. I think models would look awfully boring if we were 100% historically accurate... IMO. Oh and btw the wood on the axe is perfect and I think you should stick with that style going forward. Keep up the great work man!
Another masterful tutorial Evan. Worth the wait! I’ll admit I always cringe a little when I see blue added to panzer grey (a lot of modellers I’ve watched overdo the blue tint) but you definitely pulled it off. The mud and dust effects came out perfect. BTW not everybody finds painting tools boring 😉 Can’t wait for the next tutorial video. 4BO would be cool like you mentioned... maybe Tropen or ambush pattern?
+Bruce The Model Noob thank you Bruce! The next videos will include: Russian 4BO green (with brown camo), US Olive Drab, Tropen 1, Israeli armour, and the yellow/brown camo on my 506 Tiger.
best advice for painting wood is to paint syface in bright colour then with darker make lines wery small lines after put on all surface filter from brown - check this out
Great video once again. Although, for your varnishes; while Tamiya makes great products, I would recommend using varnish out of its own spray bottle. I've found that spraying clear coats out of my airbrush does a number on the nozzle, but you can pick up the spray varnishes at Michaels for around $7.
+Joe Reen I use Tamiya for the extra durability that comes with their paints thinned with lacquer thinner. Using Tamiya clear and matte is not any more harmful than standard Tamiya paints since they are simply transparent versions of this paint. Other varnishes may be different though.
OilBrushers also get a lot of Paint in the lid Threads ( You have to keep it clean or the lids jam on ) As you said the paint is nice , but the system in not very good at all ( I went back to Wilder Oils on some cardboard ) Nice Build , really enjoy your Channel and detailed build videos . ( Thanx )
Thanks so much for this! I see you put a semi-gloss clear coat before you began your weathering with the oils. Can I do a matte clear coat and continue on with the weathering or is a gloss/semi-gloss preferred for the blending of the oils?
Really great video, Evan. This is some seriously helpful stuff, especially since I am doing a grey StuG right now. I am really digging the way you did this video, too. I like the fade from bare plastic to finished product transitions. A comment about your basecoat: I have been using Stynylrez for priming my kits and although I like the results, it's still an acrylic and can be a real bummer to clean up. I have really been considering subbing Tamiya paints (of the appropriate colors) thinned with lacquer thinner or Mr Color Leveling Thinner instead. Oh yeah... great airbrush, dude!
So when I do thinks like dot filters, I don't use Tamiya brand enamel thinner. I use the big blue cans of Klean Strip that you would buy at a hardware store. On the front it says "thins oil based paints, stains, and varnishes. Use on brushes and equipment". It has worked fine for me but I want to know if you advise using it or not? (Also I loved the video! Very helpful for my Panzer IV Ausf. D from Tamiya)
Again another great tutorial, keep them coming! What are your views on "shining up" the teeth on Drive sprockets and track guide horns as I have noticed you don't seem to unless I have missed something
Great vid mate very informative, I learned the oil dust technique from this video. Anyway, can you use enamel paints as alternative for oil paints for the colour modulation and dust techniques?
I’d be really interested in seeing what oil colour/products would replace the wilder colours you used on this. The spaceship grime, patina blue, light buff etc.
I mainly use Starship Filth and Dust oils now. I am still looking for a good patina colour....I bought something from 502 Abteilung recently that I will try.
You are one of the only people that can get my eyes glued to the screen for 50 minutes and not skip even 15 seconds hahaha
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the full video :)
I prefer every moment you can tape. You explain everything very well. Its never too long with your videos.
I appreciate it, thanks :)
I'm 57 years old and a complete rookie to scale modeling. Is it me or am I the only one who is intimidated and feels like I will never be this good and my models will never look this good?

As someone who is doing a Stalingrad build with units from the 14th Panzer Division, I'm very glad this exists, thank you~!
One of the coolest bits of ww2 German this thing! Love it!

Just tried the 'new' panzer gray you outlined.... LOVE IT... So realistic. Perfect... thank you mate!
Glad you found my video helpful :)
Things I enjoyed the most: oil paint weathering on the top of the superstructure and the entire lower hull and running gear weathering. I think you really stepped up your game with this one. Wonderful work dude!
+Night Shift thank you Martin! I enjoyed the oil effects on the superstructure on this one too :) always the most fun part.
Outstanding Build & attention to details!

The single long tutorials are great. Gives you a really good overview of how you painted the model from start to finish.
I like the hour-length video format. It provides a more comprehensive overview of how each effect contributes to the overall weathering plan for the model.

This maybe the best panzer painting video that I have seen
Truly excellent.
I love oil weathering. In fact I recently completely painted and weathered a tank in oils, other than base coat primer, and it's one of my favourite finished models.

Fantastic! This is going to be my guide for painting my Stürm & Panzer III...
I really enjoyed this video. I think the end result looks superb without being overdone.
Some great innovative weathering. Love the effects of the snow ❄️
Ps the hour sessions are cool 😎

To paint wood after using the old wood dilute vallejo smoke waaay down and its like streaking in a way. Gives beautiful wood grain llines.
Great tip, thank you!
Nice!!! As you say- going to save this one for some roadwheels and indi-link tracks. Can't wait!

Ein sehr gutes Video ! Danke fürs hochladen !

Well presented video, very informative with some great techniques....well done 👏🙂
very nice, good job
Thank you Olivier!
Outstanding video! I will finally break out my oils - Thank you.
Happy Canada day Evan!
Really good tutorial as well. Led me to getting Dn models masks.
Thank you :) 🍁
Very nice, especially like the snow effects!
Awesome tutorial mate! Ive been getting back into my military kit builds and these tips have been great! Thanks for sharing 😎👍
Thanks for the information. This is awesome.
Love it, great job! Now its just need a crew to make it perfect

Such stunning work! I am about to attempt my first 'realistic' model and hope to follow your great advice here (even if it is a T-34 hopefully its translatable lol)
How did it turn out boss?!
Would love to see you do an olive drab video!! Nice work.
I have an M4A3E8 that will get a full weathering tutorial just like this vehicle :)
Outstanding work!
Thank you!
Great video! Keep them coming, very helpful!
Thanks mate, that was really helpful and informative.
Great video! Awesome result my friend! I got to tell you, i love those workable tool clamps ;)
Thank you! They're super fun to play with haha :)
Nice as your standard! Very interesting AFV, I do not recall ever seeing one before.
It's a rare vehicle, only 24 were converted from damaged StuG III and half were lost in Stalingrad. The others served in the battle of Kursk.
@@Panzermeister36I looked them up in my German vehicle books last night! Who did the kit?
Good you figured out AFVs in ww2 were new!😂😂
This kit is by Dragon. They have a few boxings of the vehicle and this kit is excellent.
Damn.!! Ah if i watched this video before i did my weathering work... 🤧
I'm getting close to the painting stage of dragon's panzer iv mit schneeräumer system schmidt, so this video is perfect
You nailed it.
Bloody awesome mate thanks for sharing mate till next time have a good one

Really great video, Evan. This is some seriously helpful stuff, especially since I am doing a grey StuG right now. I am really digging the way you did this video, too. I like the fade from bare plastic to finished product transitions.
A comment about your basecoat: I have been using Stynylrez for priming my kits and although I like the results, it's still an acrylic and can be a real bummer to clean up.
