A member of my embroidery chapter passed away and gave all her supplies to us. I picked out 2 sets of Q-snaps. I'm a long time user of hoops and scroll frames. Your tutorial has made me excited to give them a try. Thank you very much. Dawn from California
I almost bought one, but decided to wait until I do more research. Thank you for sharing your experience with them, very appreciated! I’ve started following you and looking forward to watching more of your videos. ❤
Thank you so much for this!! Love the idea with the felt to protect the fabric. I’ve never heard of these qsnaps before I’m SO glad I found this. I’ve started to hate using hoops and was praying for an easier faster way to prepare my cross stitches 🙌🏻🙌🏻
You can also use that rubbery shelf liner in place of the felt. It's the kind you use to line shelves the rubber feeling stuff. It works great to. Great video I love q snaps.
Lori from Florida This video was a huge help for me. I am just now getting into cross stitching. I will definitely be using the info from this video. Thank you😊
Thanks so much it was really good. Love the felt idea and also if they get loose put them in the dish washer. Great tips and good for us beginners. Thanks again.
Hi Danielle... Thank you so much for this Very Helpful tutorial.. I recently got back into cross stitching after 25 years and must say, a lot has changed! You are an excellent teacher! Looking forward to watching more videos!! 🙂🙂. Renee from NJ
Thank you so much for taking time to make this tutorial and all of them. Was into stiching many moons ago and trying to venture back, but wow how things changed. I've learned so much from you. Many thanks.
I’ve just gotten into stitching like a few days ago because a ton of the diamond painting youtubers also stitch and I wanted to try it, I found this so so helpful, thank you Stitch 💖💖💖
Thank you!!! I just ordered my first qsnap!! And I was wondering if it really worked, and it does look good though!!! I've always used the wood hoops!! So thank you for making this video!!!!
I just discovered your channel thanks to Pam and Steph. Your tutorials are awesome!! Even if I know what you are talking about I still learn something new!! Thanks!!
I'm still learning cross-stitch (kinda by the seat of my pants biting off more than I can chew with a huge project for my mother's birthday) and this was super helpful! I'm going to use this method for my next, even bigger, project! Hopefully q-snaps don't leave nasty indents like hoops do on fabric. It doesn't appear that they would from what you showed.
Lol I’m in the same boat, learning as I go. I also bit off a much more complicated pattern then I should have but I was compelled to make 2 wedding/ marriage
Hi this is terryann from new Jersey. I just ordered my q snaps. I got 8 by 8 an the 6 by 6 an got two of the cloth that goes round the q snap thanks for your help.🙂🙃
Just broke my snap piece. Quick order to 123stitch. It was so brittle. No one has them here so have to get online. Like the 11x8 configuration. Going to try that. I want to try the stretcher bars. How about a video on those also. Do you need to get them the same size as your fabric? Can those be combined to make different sizes? Where do you get them? Dam full of questions! ❤️ the videos.
Ty for the tips 8x11 is my favorite size too. I love the dishwasher tip. Mine did get loose but now my smalls ones cracked. So replacements will be ordered. To you use a stand and if so how does it work with the qsnaps?
I love a q-snap but I hate it when I have to move the fabric over to start another page. It seems to take me forever to get the rows straight and not skewed, and even then they get skewed a bit. Any tips on that would be appreciated. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the tip with the felt. I use a qsnap but I’m finding I’m starting to loose tension. Also do you know how to use tension clips? What kind of stand do I need to buy to fount a qsnap on?
Thanks for doing this video. I have been using a hoop but am considering using Qsnaps. Do the clamps distort stitches if you have a large full coverage piece? I am working on a large piece and at some point I would need to clamp over stitches. I have tried scroll frames. They are uncomfortable for my back. Thanks for helping me with this.
Lisa Casey when you move the clamps, if you make sure to put fabric or felt or fleece or something over the stitched part the stitches should not get distorted. I have never had that problem.
I did a video on that as well. It is like a split rail scroll rod frame. The company is from Estonia. If you look up omanik frame on google you can find it.
Silvia Schnaiderman I only have two floor stands and one type of scroll frames. So to do a proper tutorial I would think you would need all of them that is out there and I can't buy all that. Lol.
Stitcherista LOL. 🙈 You´r right! So can you do one about the ones you use? I really love the way you fabric is stretched and how easily you turn it to get on the back!
Hi, Just starting to use a Q-snap - my problem is getting the darn thing OFF of my stitching. Yes, I scroll the pieces to the inside to “loosen” the tension but then to be able to get under the snaps with my fingers to pull them off - a mess! Any tips?
Hello! I’m extremely new to cross stitch. I’ve been teaching myself how to stitch, but I can’t seem to figure out what drum tight means. I don’t really like Aida, so I’ve switched to evenweave and like it far more than Aida. However, when I tighten my qsnap clamps, the evenweave fabric can get as stiff as my Aida cloth. Is that drum tight, or have I’ve over tightened it? Any tips would be very much appreciated. I hope you have a great day!😊😊
This is helpfull. Im doing a cross stitch piece on 26” x 21”aida. I dont like using hoops, and I cant attach it to a scrolling frame as I go to a craft group once a week. If I use these, am I able to just do my cross stitich on my lap like I do now? Or does it have to be put on a stand like is mentioned on some comments. I look forward to your reply. Thanks :)
I am wondering if this could be used to do sections of a quilt on a sewing machine. The 11" x 11" size? or perhaps the 11"x 17"? Not sure since I am a newer quilter and wonder how easy it would be to manage. Does anyone have some suggestions or experience in using them on the sewing machine for me? Thank you
Nice tutorial. I got a question. I have a 8x8 snap and of course I have a big project, do I need to remove my qsnap when I'm not stitching? My problem is that this thing is so tight, I'm having a difficulty pulling out the pvc.
My question is how long can you leave them on the fabric without them making marks? I’m doing an 11 count afghan as a present and bought qsnaps for the center section as it was too hard with a hoop there. I’ve used them two days now and really like them but taking them from each nite and reloading them is a hassle
Is it because of my arthritis but I find these snap impossible to take off. Are they as hard to remove for everybody or is it just me. Do you have tricks to remove the clamps
They are not easy to remove. Some people will put strips of ribbon underneath the clamp at the end so when you have to remove them, just grab the ribbon and pull.
Hi my name is terryann an I'm new at watching your video. I'm also new at doing cross stitch. I'm going to try the q snap. I'm going to do an owl for my first cross stitch. 🙂🙃
I’m after buying one of theses I’ve just started cross Stich after watching your recent videos but I’m not sure what size to get. The canvas is 39x50cm I was thinking about buying the 27.9x27.9 (11”x11”) would that be ok?
This is the reply I received from Yarn Tree: I don't believe the clamps will be able to accommodate the thickness of the leather. It would be a very tight fit. Part of the issue would be how the clamps slide on the leather; if the grip is too much because the clamps can't slide over the leather, then it won't work. Not any experience using them with leather. Sincerely, Yarn Tree
Stitcherista You are right. I asked because I have not purchased it yet, and I mainly need it for embroidery on leather. I emailed them back suggesting to come up with add on clamps that would be suitable for thicker materials that could be sold separately. But for the mean while when I get one, I will try on leather and let you know :)

Thank you for the tip on the dollar store grime cover! And also the excess fabric tip. I just ordered my first set of Qsnaps.
I’ve been using hoops forever. I ordered my first q snap the other day and it should be here tomorrow. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for the video! I have never used Q snaps and wondered how to use them. Your tips were great.
Just came upon this video and so glad I did. The felt under the Qsnap is great. I needed to know this. Will pull out my Q snap and try using it again.
Great idealove it I'm ordering one this week so yes I'll be trying this grateful thank you

Thanks a lot!! Your tutorial really helped me.
💘 the tutorial.I. never seen the Qsnaps put together before would never have thought to use felt on them.XOXO
I tried a Q-Snap a few months ago but couldn't get it tight enough. I'll try this and see if it works.

Ty for the tips 8x11 is my favorite size too. I love the dishwasher tip. Mine did get loose but now my smalls ones cracked. So replacements will be ordered. To you use a stand and if so how does it work with the qsnaps?
melissa weldon I use my stitchmate floor stand with q snaps and it works well. I have also used my lowery stand with q snaps.

I have not used tension clips. To hold q snaps most people buy a Lowery stand, as it will hold anything.
Thanks heaps.

Been loving all your videos 😊
Thanks for the tutorial.

Thank you for the informative video!!

It’s 1-25-22. My question is. Have you ever loaded the material so it’s under the Q-Snap. I prefer it to been under like I do the wood scroll ones.
Yes, I have done that and it works well.
Very helpful video. Do you just slide the clamps off when finished?
Edwina McKee yes I just slide them off.

Yes, that is drum tight, almost like you can bounce a quarter off of it. Your stitches will be neater with tight fabric.

I just thought that I would let you know that today I got my 8 by 8 a snap thank you. 🙂🙃
Brilliant...thanks I will try it.
I just bought a q snap n i can't get it to tighten. What an i doing wrong. I don't understand what u mean about rolling up the fabric?
If you put the clamps on and them roll them outwards it should tighten.

Yes, you can get that size because you can move it around as you need to get to other parts of the fabric.
Thank you so much for getting back to me so quick. I’m off to order one now, thank you for your help. Hope you have a lovely day
Hi dear. Is it available at Amazon?????
amzn.to/3dQTewx
Can you do a video taken off the clamp of a snap cause am struggling with it thanks
Sometimes it is very hard to take them off. You literally just pull on it until it comes off.
@@Stitcherista thanks 😊
Ty very helpful
Can I make a 6 x 17 qsnap? That would be ideal for me 🌸
You should be able to, yes.
Thank you so much for this! Can I use Qsnap for leather also? Or is 1.6-1.8 leather to thick for Qsnap?
Human Tales I have no idea for leather.
Stitcherista Thank you so much for your prompt response. I just emailed the company.
When I get a response, I will let you know too :)
This is the reply I received from Yarn Tree:
I don't believe the clamps will be able to accommodate the thickness of the leather. It would be a very tight fit.
Part of the issue would be how the clamps slide on the leather; if the grip is too much because the clamps can't slide over the leather, then it won't work. Not any experience using them with leather.
Sincerely,
Yarn Tree
Human Tales I suggest trying it for yourself. I mean I have used q snaps with perforated paper and I'm sure no one recommends that. Lol
Stitcherista You are right. I asked because I have not purchased it yet, and I mainly need it for embroidery on leather. I emailed them back suggesting to come up with add on clamps that would be suitable for thicker materials that could be sold separately. Will this work with punch needling
Yes!
Thank you so much
Super useful as always😁! Xx
the sizes are they inside the frame sizes of outside?
Outside
Can we use it for quilting?
I'm sure you can, yes.
can you use these with needlepoint?
Possibly. I have never tried.
I tried one of these, kept losing tension all the time, had to throw it out and resort to my split-rail scroll frame.
Nice
Can you make a q snap yourself?
You probably could.
bought qsnaps but constantly have to readjust because my fabric comes loose after 10 stitches or so
How do you remove the q snap.. I just bought them and don't know how to remove them so I can move the stitching erea....
Did I really not show how you remove the clamps? You pull them, the clamps, and then you can move the fabric.
Do you need to use a frame? I just stitch by hand.
asdfjkdjsalkfj I find my tension is better if I use a frame.
Rewatched
Oh crap, I clicked on the margin above so I could scroll down, and I hit "dislike" by mistake. Sorry!
Marilyn Howton I believe if you press the dislike button twice it removes the dislike vote.
Is there smaller q snaps than 6 x6?
Mary MacFarlane no there is not.
