Great video, Kristen! I didn’t realize Q Snap frames were available for needlework. I was so impressed with your thorough demonstrations that I purchased one. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing some great tips for when cross stitching! I went on Amazon and have added the Lowery stand onto my cross stitch wish list...tho not cheap I'll be saving up for this as I think it will help with my chronic illness problems!!
Kristen thank you so much for this amazing video about frames and stands. So many videos just talked about them, I really like how you actually showed them in action!
Really nice demonstration and description of the tools. I was particularly interested in the Kay's Creation table stand. Thank you for providing lots of great details such as how large a piece you can work on with it.
My mom got this for me on a whim. She saw it in passing when I asked her to buy some floss thread I ran out of. She said, try it and now I’m in love! One, it’s tight and I can do the edges without having to change hoops anymore! It’s awesome. Also, I used an old pajamas as a cloth guard to protect the Aida. It’s amazing! Thanks for your tips! Stay safe and take care! 😁
Loved seeing the table top stand. I have been debating on picking one up and will now look at the one you featured. Also love seeing the little bit of your tattoo sleeve! Happy stitching 😊
Thank you so much Kristin. I didn't know what type of frame I was going to use for project I am about to start. I think I will get the Q snap along with a table top stand. I noticed you had a cross stitch of a dachshund behind you along with 2 pictures of what looked like wire haired dachshunds. We too had a sweet little wire haired dachshund, Hershey. By chance, can you point me in the direction of a wire haired dachshund counted cross stitch. Thank you so much again. Cindylu
That's a great idea! I'm not too sure what this particular project is sorry, but we do now have a sausage dog needle minder which you may be interested in :)
I loved your video. Want to check out the floor stand. Also, would you tell me what fabric you had in the hoop with the Christmas pattern please? Thank you for all of the helpful information.
Hello iam new to the group , I would like to know can you use a snap q on printed cross stitching , because it looks like the material is much thicker. Thank you so much .
Hi I'm new to your video. My name is Terry. An I'm learning how to use a q snap. So I just want to make sure that everything is going to fit for the q snap.
Hi, I found your video today and actually bought the Deck the Halls pattern. I haven't stutched forbyears and recently picked it back up. Love the q snap, wish it would have been available when i started years ago. Could you please tell me the fabric you used for that in this video? I love the look of the blue with dots. Thank you.
I used since years to cross stitch by hand, I hold my fabric in my left hand and cross stitch with the right. But actually, I try to do that with a hoop, and it's exhausting... It take me a bunch of second to find the hole from the back side of the fabric, and it's clearly slower than without. Have you a tip to find the back hole of the fabric without piercing the fabric everywhere before finding the right hole?
I have an older split scroll frame. It squeaks when I turn the dowels. Really hard sometimes to turn them. Yes, I have loosened the wing nuts. Any suggestions would be awesome! TIA.
It's been years since I cross stitched. I love the q snap idea! My project is 12 x 54, do you think it is ok for the q snap to hold over the pattern or will it damage the threads?
Hi Kristen just came across your tutorial. I am trying to purchase that table top stand by Kays Creations on Amazon that you mentioned in your tutorial but am having problems finding it. Anywhere else besides Amazon that I can get that particular one? Would appreciate a reply. Thanks
Great video! I have a Lowry and it does tip for me. How do you prevent yours from tipping? I have to put a weight on the floor plate, and that is definitely a pain. Also, do you ever use the Z-frame on your lap? Or is it meant for tabletops only? Thanks!
Question about your Lap stand. Can it be adjusted to hold the qsnaps and could you please suggest a lap stand that would. Also, please print the name of your stand. I didn't quite understand the name brand. Will look forward to your comment. And looking forward to videos. Karen
I have a question about the Lowery stand. I am left handed and was wondering if the set up can be reversed? By that I meaning the pattern holder would be on the right side and will it hold a scroll frame ?
Hi Debby!! Yes it can be switched! You would simply just rotate to accommodate left or right stitching. I have done it both ways in order to sit on opposite sides of the couch. Hope that helps you! Kristen
How long are you comfortable leaving your piece in the q snap before worrying about ceasing? I am a beginner and am using a hoop and hate the crease the hoop gives my pieces even just after an hour or two. Thanks!
I would say it's definitely personal preference, but if you are switching to another project for a while I would recommend taking the piece out of the frame for a bit :)
from my understanding they're cheaper but don't last as long. In uk we have a variant called R+R frames but they aren't coming apart and you can't "slide" the clips off
It is not currently available on Amazon, but the placeholder page is here: www.amazon.com/Lowery-Workstand-Side-Clamp-POWDER/dp/B074JFJHH2. It looks like there is at least one shop in the UK (workstands.com)and another in Canada (chartingcreations.com) that sell them. The base stand is about $180 or a little more if you want the stainless steel model. The Canadian vendor also sells them in a bunch of different colors. Google for "Lowery workstand" to find more info.
The "Q-Snap" type frames that they sell at Michael's are horrible. They look like Q-Snaps, but they are not nearly as sturdy. They twist and buckle as you are stitching. The outer clamps spin and don't hold tight or steady. Don't waste your time.

Haha, there's so much out there now!
I began about 10 years ago & hadn't done it in a long time, definitely way more options even in just a decade. Especially all the software.

Do you happen to have a link for the floor stand?
You can purchase the floor stand directly through Lowery's website!
Thank you so much.....I am just beginning.....most videos show your stitches, but do not explain hoops or frames or floss storage....so thank you !
So glad the video helped!

Hi Tami! That was from Fabric Flair. They have a website and have a ton of fun, printed fabric! Kristen

Nice 👍 😍

Hi I'm new to your video. My name is Terry. An I'm learning how to use a q snap. So I just want to make sure that everything is going to fit for the q snap.
I got an 8 by 8 an a 6 by 6
Just make sure your frame is smaller than your fabric : )
Your video is interesting ! You have a link four your floor stand?

Oh no! Maybe you could use some lubricant or oil?
@@arianeccs6523 was afraid it would mess up the Aida fabric. Someone suggested graphite. But IDK.
Can you make after video for getting the hoop imprint out of your project
Of course, we have a great video on how to iron your cross stitch: ua-cam.com/video/iC8K5ELZ1eE/v-deo.html
Hallo from 🇧🇪 Belgium! Veeeeery good video👏! Where can I get the table stand? I did not good understand...
Thanks for watching, I believe you can purchase the table stand through Amazon :)
It's been years since I cross stitched. I love the q snap idea! My project is 12 x 54, do you think it is ok for the q snap to hold over the pattern or will it damage the threads?
Yes this should be fine to use with a q-snap, if you're worried about the stitches getting damaged you could always use some felt under the clamps :)
feel it still
Hi Kristen just came across your tutorial. I am trying to purchase that table top stand by Kays Creations on Amazon that you mentioned in your tutorial but am having problems finding it. Anywhere else besides Amazon that I can get that particular one? Would appreciate a reply. Thanks
It’s K’s Creation. They sell them on Etsy and Amazon.
Great video! I have a Lowry and it does tip for me. How do you prevent yours from tipping? I have to put a weight on the floor plate, and that is definitely a pain. Also, do you ever use the Z-frame on your lap? Or is it meant for tabletops only? Thanks!
I will try and get Kristen to answer this!
Where did you find the pattern holder for your lowery stand?
Thank you
Barbara
HI Barbara, I believe you can purchase this directly through Lowery's website :)
This is SO helpful!!! Do you have any links on Amazon for these items??
Thank you for watching!
Question about your Lap stand. Can it be adjusted to hold the qsnaps and could you please suggest a lap stand that would. Also, please print the name of your stand. I didn't quite understand the name brand. Will look forward to your comment. And looking forward to videos. Karen
What is the name of the floor stand you got on Amazon?
Google for "Lowery workstand", no longer sold on Amazon but other places sell it.
I have a question about the Lowery stand. I am left handed and was wondering if the set up can be reversed? By that I meaning the pattern holder would be on the right side and will it hold a scroll frame ?

Is the lap stand work for left handed. Thank you
You can use it either way I believe!
Do you have any advice on where to find Q Snap frames in the UK. Amazon doesn’t seem to sell the authentic branded ones, only replicas. Thanks 😊
Oh no, I'm not too sure about this sorry! I've personally found some cheaper brands will do the job :)
Any chance of getting a model number for the floor stand? Amazon now shows nothing like this-which is really what I am looking for.
😍
Is there a difference between the qsnap of the ones at michaels or hobby lobby?
from my understanding they're cheaper but don't last as long. In uk we have a variant called R+R frames but they aren't coming apart and you can't "slide" the clips off
How and where do I find your pattern like seas the day? I didn’t find “ caterpillar cross stitch” at my local shop.
You can purchase the pattern or kit through our website, the link is in the description! ❤️
Where do I order that stand from?
You can purchase the lowery stand from their website directly :)
Can I ask if you have a link to the tabletop frame please.
I believe this is available through Amazon :)
K’s Creation
what is the best frame for a project of 54.5 cm x54.5 cm as i normally use the wooden frames but they don't make a frame that size
I'm not sure sorry, but you u could always move the piece around the frame if you can't find a frame that's big enough :)
You could try a slate frame with trestles. Very old embroidery technique for large pieces.
Is the Lowry ergonomic? I have neck issues
You can contact the makers directly here: www.workstands.com/
They will be able to answer all of your questions :)
Can you please link the Amazon Lowery Floor Stand. I'm searching for it and can't find it. Spellling?
It is not currently available on Amazon, but the placeholder page is here: www.amazon.com/Lowery-Workstand-Side-Clamp-POWDER/dp/B074JFJHH2. It looks like there is at least one shop in the UK (workstands.com)and another in Canada (chartingcreations.com) that sell them. Google for "Lowery workstand" to find more info.
How do you count to begin a cross stitch pattern in the upper left hand corner?
You could always give gridding a go to make counting easier? We have another video where we show you how: ua-cam.com/video/h7mfjdRqlg4/v-deo.html
Is there a lap stand that would work with the qsnap? I like to find something new rather than a hoop to stitch and watch tv.
I'm not to sure but that sounds like a great idea!
I cannot find that stand on Amazon- I did find a white one but the clamp don’t look near as good as yours.
This one is a lowery stand :)
I bought the hobby lobby brand of the Q snap frame and it’s awful 😥 doesn’t hold my fabric tight at all
The q snaps from Michaels are the best! Kristen
You didn't mention frames. How do you frame a finished project?
We have a separate video on how to frame a finished project: ua-cam.com/video/c3Y7fBKct_c/v-deo.html
The "Q-Snap" type frames that they sell at Michael's are horrible. They look like Q-Snaps, but they are not nearly as sturdy. They twist and buckle as you are stitching. The outer clamps spin and don't hold tight or steady. Don't waste your time.
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
