I got my first ruckus like a day or 2 before you dropped your first video on yours. I absolutely love my ruckus and rode it completely stock with the exception of cosmetic parts up until it got too cold to ride. I have been buying and installing a bunch of stuff all winter and I can’t wait until spring so I can start riding again. This video was very helpful to me for installing the intake because of how in depth you went with everything. Other videos I’ve watched just gave a general idea but you really broke it down in detail, so thank you for that!!
I do not have a Honda Ruckus but I got a used 2007 Piaggio mp3 250Ie and did a lot of work on it! It was my first time working on this bike I flush out fuel tank and clean fuel injection & lines too! Next I replaces the belt & Variator and added Dr. pulley slider 21x17 12g & rebuilt the clutch and flush out the radiator! I upgraded light bulbs to led & new headlight bulb H1 55w! next flush out the brakes lines and grease all the bearing! Next new tires and upgrade new muffler just little more work I be done! Talon Sei
I have the same mods on my ruckus, with the addition of met gears, and I have found that a good tail wind helps my top speed more than the terrain or whether or not I’m tucking
If you want a nice 4 lb weight savings replace the battery with a lithium battery. Save a couple more pounds by putting a side stand on the bike and remove the anchor (aka center stand).
Definatly drop all the plastics , just the floor plastics weigh 5lbs alone and the front fender isnt really needed unless you plan on off road or rain riding the ruck . 👍 good job im enjoying this series
I swapped a 100cc 2 stroke in my ruckus. It is good enough for L.A. traffic I honestly do not like taking it over 40mph with the crappy road conditions. I know it will do over 50 mph
I’ve had my Ruckus for several years. Pollini variator, Yoshi exhaust but went with an oversized carburetor. I’m only 145 pounds but it maxes it out at around 48 mph. However I haven’t done the CDI yet. Maybe I’ve been lucky but on some of the group rides I’ve been on. People have done more to their scooter than me and yet mine is as fast or still faster than theirs.
You should get in contact with rolling wrench. He is from the Denver area and makes lots of great content on modifying ruckus and other scooters. He also sells a ton of products and overall seems to have a lot of knowledge on being able to make your ruckus perform better
I remember my friends dorky older brother always talking about a Yoshi pipe back in the early 90's on his sportbike....kinda hilarious they make one for mopeds now.
bigger header for starters. You are giving it more fuel but are not allowing it to escape, in effect sealing it. Need to change the weights to allow it to rev higher ego more power and speed. Chang the cylinder to a 80 or 79 cc and you are flying.
Just a little bit of advice, run Michelin street tires & a performance clutch plus a performance variator face. Add a Tach which is essential in tuning. Do not be afraid of using 4.5, 4 or mixing 3 or each for a 4.2gram Slider weight average. Reason for the tach is to know you are exceeding the Rev limit setting of 8850rpms. You need to be running in the low 9000's for max speed from that 49cc motor.
Been through all the off the shelf mods on my past Ruckus and they all fell short of the power I was looking for. Used as a pit bike for two race seasons. Even a big bore kit didn't get me where I wanted to be so I ended up doing a GY6 swap. It's the best performance move for the Ruck. Since moved on and we use a couple of Pitster Pro MX155s for the paddock runs.
Makes me miss working on bike. Not that I hate my Cars and trucks they usually are just way more involved to work on. Lighter rims would give you a little bit also.
Leave your needles alone. 2006 and newer Ruckus’s don’t need the needle modified. Also, if you want to decrease the chance of stripping a screw on your carb use a JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screw driver. All of the screws on the Ruckus (& many Japanese vehicles) are JIS screws and not Phillips.
Big Brain move: just get the Big Ruck! I'm sure it's not the same feeling tho. Love that Husky u got in the background there too, that's a damn nice SuMo
I notice you didn't get a answer on your comment, you can bet he has some money in that bike, I personally can't justify spending that much money on a scooter you have to dump more money into to make it go faster.
@@congerscott6064 I bought a Honda Ruckus brand new in 2020. I've put over 7000 miles on it so far. It's been 100% reliable. Only thing I did was change the variator weights so the bike has more power going up hills. Total cost for that was around 20 bucks. My top speed on flat roads is 43 mph and that's fast enough for me on the roads around here.
The tube that goes from the back of the carb to the air filter tore....is there a cheap air filter and tube you can buy that will work.....my jets keep clogging...I have had to push the ruckus home 2 times in 2 weeks....that is not fun in 90s and high humidity.?
I would think your biggest barrier to speed on a 49cc scooter would be drag... I would try putting a little windshield on it and see if that makes a difference, because your upper body is kind of acting like a big sail and slowing you down.
Get a performance carburetor from rolling wrench it really opens up for gas not like other carburetors I noticed a lot of gain when I installed mines. Watch his video about it on UA-cam you will see how it out performs others.
I love your videos and I have a 2023 Ruckus but to do all of that... To go up 5 mph and get super duper loud ... To me it's just not worth it. Thank you for showing us tho.
I value the fuel mileage on my stock Ruck. So now you did all these mods….how much less is your fuel mileage? On a stock Ruck, is there anything, any mods, to be done to get better fuel mileage, other than me losing weight and keeping my throttle less than wide open all the time? 😎
Series is great! Makes me wish I was a little more apt to this kinda stuff, mainly tuning the carburetor, that seems a little scary/tough to me. But I'm working on the variator/weights first off now. Maybe I'll grow a set and get to carb/exhaust.
What you really need to get is a big bore kit it will make it a 100cc or the 101cc what you have now is a 49cc so that kit will bubble so it will go FAST
you could try putting in the met gears from the metropolitan. higher top end supposedly havent done it on my ruckus. im at your version of the stage 1 tune basically with 5.5 and 5g slider mix and hit 40 all over at 250lb but im at sea level.
So far I spent over 300 bucks in a variator kit, weights , cdi. And essentially there is no difference. The wind has a greater effect on the speed at this point. I have the jet kit and will not install it. Something is limiting the power output of the engine and its in the factory ECU and the attaching systems. Until I find out what it is spending money on these kits is proving to be a Waste of time and money. Yes we all enjoy tinkering with them but results is what counts
I just skimmed the video did you reset your ECU since you removed the throttle/carb? wasnt sure if you needed to since you bypassed it with the ncy cdi? just curious if its needed? thanks all. i am also learning
its a fixed ECU it does not learn and change setting, so wether "reset" or not it does exactly the same thing, The ruckshop have dispelled the "reset" myth.
You should have finished breaking it in before you did mods. My engine got a lot stronger after it hit about 700 miles! Now at 1200miles it feels a lot different I’m hitting 41 on level ground when i got it thing did 37-38 on way home from the dealer new! I was surprised how tight that engine was new! It was weak to. But I went easy and sure enough it loosened up kind of like a really stiff subwoofer they get louder as they get older cause they loosen up just a tad. Engine did the same thing!!
Hey Talon, there’s a channel l follow on UA-cam who done a Rukus Build, find loads of info there on parts etc, channel is called Motonosity, Good Luck🤞🏻
They are no longer being made and are very hard to find in good condition on the used market. This regular ruckus fits into my garage line up better than a big ruckus as well.
Why would you re-jet your carb before place on your exhaust?. You will just need to re-jet again for your Yoshi exhaust. All your after market mods should be placed on before you re-jet your carb.. You should also be doing spark plug checks to see if your running lean or rich.
Great series! I’m 210lbs with exact same mods and bike (same year and color too). Top speed was 47mph but average flat road speed is usually 41-44mph.
How’s the exhaust? Is it obnoxiously loud or is it OK? I’m OK with it but I don’t want to draw attention to myself.
2024 with just rolling wrench Evi and 5g dp sliders.. 52 top 42-45
Definitely hit up rolling wrench. He’s in the Denver area.
Yup or the Ruck shop
I'm the most opposite Ruckus owner -- I like it slow and quiet! :)
I got my first ruckus like a day or 2 before you dropped your first video on yours. Rolling wrench and the ruck shop are both amazing
Never thought i would see a velocity stack on a ruckus, This has been a cool little project so far.
Man these videos make me want to get a ruckus or grom. Love the tinkering and mod videos. Cool to see the progression of your vehicles 😎

From what Ive seen on YT, most of the big potential gains come from weight reduction and aerodynamics. Your video makes me want to find a Ruckus.
Oh man. I love seeing all the noise coming out of the GET engine. At least ppl will hear you before they see you now 🤙🏼
not the people in cars....
If you want a nice 4 lb weight savings replace the battery with a lithium battery. Save a couple more pounds by putting a side stand on the bike and remove the anchor (aka center stand).
All I did was swap out the vareator with polini with 5.6 rollers. I went from 36mph to 42mph on a good day with no wind slowing me down I can 48.
Definatly drop all the plastics , just the floor plastics weigh 5lbs alone and the front fender isnt really needed unless you plan on off road or rain riding the ruck . 👍 good job im enjoying this series
I have everything that you have
Plus
Met gear
Scooterswapshop carb
Smooth tires pumped to 32psi
I’m 190 and it’ll do 54 on flats
Enjoying this mini-series. Great content as always Talon.
Thanks brotha! Excited to hang with ya in a few weeks 👊🏻
I swapped a 100cc 2 stroke in my ruckus. It is good enough for L.A. traffic I honestly do not like taking it over 40mph with the crappy road conditions. I know it will do over 50 mph
Fuck yes. I dont know why but i enjoy watching this thing get better.
I would definitely run a air filter. K&N makes some with built in velocity stacks

Bigger header is bullshit, the ruckshop have tested that myth, it kills the power.

Up your cvt gears

i will have to leave mine stock my neighbors would not like me. great video
Theruckshop has a pretty good selection of ruckus items.
Makes me miss working on bike. Not that I hate my Cars and trucks they usually are just way more involved to work on. Lighter rims would give you a little bit also.
I was shocked it started right up after all the work you did on the carburetor!
Me too. Thought it would at least take a sec to prime with fuel again haha

The big ruckus has not been made in years! Plus for it you have to register it, pay for a tag, get insurance….all that crap costs money.
Coming together nicely. I order a lot from Steady garage for my grom and they seem to have a lot for the Ruckus as well.
Put the dipstick back in and test without the decompression tube. Stock bore may need the compression.
isnt it decompressing the crank case so the crank isnt fighting against oil pressure when it spins?
So how much did everything cost from stage 1 and stage 2 mods ?
I notice you didn't get a answer on your comment, you can bet he has some money in that bike, I personally can't justify spending that much money on a scooter you have to dump more money into to make it go faster.

as a former ruckus owner, swapping out tires will give you an extra mph or 2.
Might add that to the list soon

I mean, it is called the ruckus. Now you're raising a ruckus!
Good news! You only need TWO and a half more miles out of it.
Get a performance carburetor from rolling wrench it really opens up for gas not like other carburetors I noticed a lot of gain when I installed mines. Watch his video about it on UA-cam you will see how it out performs others.
there is an aftermarket kit i installed on my honda called the Saturn V. can easily achieve orbital or escape velocity. btw my hondais an Element.
I love your videos and I have a 2023 Ruckus but to do all of that... To go up 5 mph and get super duper loud ... To me it's just not worth it. Thank you for showing us tho.

Hi bro am going to get one in UK going to mod it up too
Seen Japanese Trikes from Ruckus well sweet and different great video 🔥
I’ll be doing the same. Appreciate the video and explanation.
Scooter swap shop has a good selection! You could do some variator, rollers, big bore?
Thanks for the video. I love the look of the intake
I just had flashbacks of me, putting Rinehart exhaust on my road king years ago.
Is there a way to cover the intake on the outside without things like bugs or debris?
Keep same mpg 🤔
Woop woop miss Colorado and great bike I might need one
I'm 270 lbs. With a '24 metropolitan. Can't get it abive 35MPH. Any suggestions?

Yes there seems to be a limiter or restriction on the rpm output.
Anyone reading this in the future, Honda puts soft limiters on its ECU and its speed based
Any ideas on how to bypass that? @@zandermcnabb7779
$$ Per hp I really can't think of anything more expensive to upgrade than a ruckus.
Lol. Cdi eliminates the rev limiter.
i wish they made these for the uk now i want one lmao they seem fun
What’s the app to keep track of speed on the phone?
I just skimmed the video did you reset your ECU since you removed the throttle/carb? wasnt sure if you needed to since you bypassed it with the ncy cdi? just curious if its needed? thanks all. i am also learning

You should put an 80cc kit on it
What happened with your ruckus? You donw or just doing other things rn?
You didn't tuck on the first run, so did you really gain anything? The difference was probably the tuck.
If you setup your scoot for high elevation, does that mean it goes faster on low elevation areas?
Possibly but it would probably run too rich from my elevation to sea level.
Nice Stumpjumper
Replace the torque drive and clutch springs to get more top speed
What kind of gains could be expected?

I have 2 rucks. But still would like that part 3 lol
Loving these videos. Appreciate the content as always, Talon.!
Anyone else wonder How the F is the mountain bike attached to the wall like that?
I thought it was on a ledge 😂
It looks like a Fathead sticker
Pedal mount
The name brand is DaHangar bike mounts
Its got a hanger 😂😂😂
Would you do wheels?

Good tinkering my man
What size jets did you install?
Take the air box off more air more flow baby
What app are you using?
So sick bro 🔥🔥 cant wait to get mine 💯💯
Looking into one for the heck of it :D thanks!
How much to buy this ruckus ??
Have you looked into the Honda Big Ruckus? It's a 250cc.

@@TalonSei Well crap.. I just found out about them after watching this video. Ride safe my friend.
Greetings from SA
What size jets did you use in the carb?
What city is this , that some wide open roads ! 🎉
That community looks super nice! What state are you in man?
Can you do the Honda Navi?
I like that. I may have to look into this one
how tall are you man? Im wondering if its comfy for us +6' people
Time to install a GY6
Should probably wait until after break in period to do performance mods
Let’s us know enjoyed it
Check out Mnnthbx, drow sports, both are awesome guys to deal with! Should have got the two brothers exhaust 👌🏼🤙🏻
The heavier your variator weights are the more top end you have, lighter weights give acceleration
My ruck is bone stock...and it does 40 mph on a flat road.
All that noise draws too much attention 😂
Still cool but you need earplugs for sure
yup... as I thought not big gains for $1k to commute on.
Carnivore Diet. Gone from 5x shirts down to 1x in seven months.
Yo we need stage 3 😭
Where is part 3 ?
Yeah !
The only thing I really see going fast
$ is the money!!

It was re-jetted at the same time specific for the exhaust.
