I noticed the front tire was mounted backwards but wasnt gonna say anything... then i see you mounted it yourself. This explains that, but I still wasnt gonna say anything. It wasnt until later you mention issues with your front tire in the rain... Having your tire tread mounted backwards is either the main cause OR a part of the issues for sure... the tread design is meant to channel water out of the way in the direction its rolling. When mounting a tire, make sure the tread if gonna spin in the direction where the tread seems to be pointing at (the point being the shape or design of the grooves) so in your case the top of the front tire, the tread is pointing towards the rear when it should be pointing forward. Its a common mistake for people who dont know about tires. I know this vid is old, but I hope this comment can help you stay safe regardless.
I can’t believe the difference after doing the CVT work, I installed the bundle from scooter swap shop and 1k rpm springs. Feels like a whole different bike!
what if you don't know how to do this? would a bike shop be able to do it for you?
@@arizonaelopementcollective I’m sure they would. Check your area for places that sell scooters, they probably service them or at least know of a business that does. It’s honestly not very hard to do it yourself, I have no background working on bikes, or anything with an engine, and did it pretty quickly.
I’m gonna take my fenders off mine as well, definitely looks better. That exhaust looks way better than the stock one they have on it. Nice video
Did you ever tackle the AC-DC conversion and upgrade to LED bulbs throughout? That's another must-have for the Navi, in my opinion. That pathetic, yellow, flickering 35W headlamp and the nearly invisible tail light can be safety hazards. The conversion only takes about 20 minutes and $40-50 in quality LED's. Cheers, buddy! 😉👍 --QM
Not yet, but that may end up being one one of my winter projects since I’ve been considering it for so long! Hope you’re healing up well man!!
@@LifeOfBurch Any updates on this?
@@supernoochieTTVi think his navi caught fire and 3 seconds after he got off the fuel tank exploded but my friend told me thats what happened
My favorite mod was definitely the CVT upgrades (clutch, variator, rollers etc). I had the Vance and Hines for a minute, but had a defective unit, so I got a refund and went back to the stock pipe which was nice- I actually liked how quiet it was. I went with the upgraded carb- but I never got it dialed in so my performance was pretty bad- I reverted back to the stock carb and it ran perfect again. Ended up selling her for another project… but I do miss my lil Navi- I’ll probably buy another one another day. Thx for your vid! You show love to a lot of bikes that are fun but don’t get attention.
Really good stuff man! I'm just looking for a Navi and ran across this. Very helpful! Appreciate the content and honest feedback on mods.
Glad youre enjoying that 1000 rpm clutch spring trick I told ya about. Now if you want an easy plug and play really good performance upgrade check out Rolling Wrench. He has a Honda Navi CDI/Coil Combo EVI - Unrestricted with rev limiter delete. Out of stock at the moment but he will have more in soon. Its in the Navi section obviously.
What is it used for?
I don't have a Navi just yet (I'm saving up for one so maybe I'll have one next summer) but man I could watch you ride your Navi all day, that exhaust makes it sound SO cool that is definitely my first upgrade when I finally get my hands on a Navi
ooooo Navi content. Haven't seen the Navi it a hot minute
Yeeaaa I realized it had been awhile since I filmed with the Navi…but I didn’t realize it’s been FOUR MONTHS 😳🤯
I love my Navi, but really want to make it cooler looking. Thanks for all the great info!
Good to see the Navi back out on the streets. Something that small or where I live wouldn't do much for my fiancé and I... but we are heavily considering other minimotos like the Grom or the Papio from CFMoto. The speed increase of the CVT work is invaluable, getting to speed quicker in high traffic areas is a safety issue. Hope to see what suspension you go with and how it does. Be safe, have fun and know that the countdown to my fiancé and I getting our Rebel 1100's has begun. You, Quasi, Gus(Ontherebel11), and RideofaLifetime helped us get the idea that it was the ideal bike for us... but we got to sit on a regular 1100 DCT and the 1100T and... it's confirmed, once we get the msf done and have the money, Rebel 1100 for the win. Thank you for the great content and information you've given us about that bike. Looking forward to, hopefully, making up to a future Burch meet-up one day. ✌️
Your Navi is almost as fast as my stock 23 grom! Makes me want to do the intake/exhaust/ecu mod everyone does to get to 60 easier.
Man, how easily mods make it so much nicer to ride!! Side note.. weather is AMAZING right now. Across the bridge from ya in the Chestertown area and would’ve loved to ride, but couldn’t bring my bike with me :(. Maybe another time!
Question: If one replaces the clutch plate with the kit, but keeps everything else (carb jets, exhaust, air intake, etc.) stock, will just replacing the clutch kit improve the quickness and top end speed of the Navi?
I appreciate the feedback on the Navi cause I’m getting one soon since it’s kinda the only thing I can afford and I’ll be able to get to point a to point b
Hey!! Love the video, have you ever considered the CDI plugin for the Navi? it pretty much removes the rev limiter, saw someone do a video on that and that added another 5mph, that could possibly get u to 60+ which would be INSANE for the navi
Thanks!
Dang, thanks so much James!! I appreciate ya as always! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Love this stuff, I wanna get a Navi so bad!
Birch,
Need a suggestion for a sissy bar/back rest.
I want to make my navi into a mini touring. And would like to utilize the extra space.
Navi Nation
200 miles in love my Navi
You should do another 2 up test with all these upgrades to see if the issues from your older video are fixed/mitigated at all.
have u ever heard of an sport scooter?
they got good torque and speed
tho i also recommend u giving it an LED light bulbs and an better taillight!
If you gently add a tiny bit of choke at full speed, and gain speed/acceleration, you need bigger jets. The stock exhaust is restrictive, the aftermarket one is more free flowing, which causes you to run lean. And youll need to rejet the carb.
I also would recommend to buy some exhaust fiberglass, and add it into the exhaust if you can.
Hello! First time rider here, I have ordered a pink navi here in aussie :) Im not smart when it comes to mechanical things. If i buy both the tyres and take the navi and the tyres down to the bike shop, will they be able to just change them over for me? (happy to pay the fee!). I dont need a new wheel hub or anything? Thank youuuuu!!!
Fine, you convinced me, I'll get one. I live in Vancouver so I'll probably keep the front fender on!
I think I'd try to mod the front fender...either make it like a dirt bike fender, maybe a high front fender mod...or try one of the flexible mountain bike fenders that zip tie to the forks...maybe right below the fork brace
From the arrow direction of hydro-grooves on your Michelin front tire, I think that you installed the front wheel in the wrong direction. This might cause you to fall on wet pavements. Please check your front wheel's direction of installation.
Did you use lighter or heavier than original variator rollers? What was the weight of the original rollers and what weight did you swap them with? How is the uphill performance now? Thanks for the awesome video, by the way.
Your modifications really took me over the edge. Now, as a 70 year old Grandfather, I want one, and you earned a new subcriber. Question : Can you still put the Michelin tires with the fenders left on ? Thanks
Those Michelin tires are available in stock size (90/90-12, 3.5-10). I haven't installed them yet, but I will in a weekend with spare time.
@LifeOfBurch what tire pressure are you running on the Front and Rear? I’m 230 lbs and put the same tires on my Navi what pressures would you recommend? Also I live in Delaware not too far from you.
I get that most of the upgrades remove utility/reliability in exchange for looking better or going faster, but it seems silly on such a small cheap commuter that can't be customized to look that much different and any performance gains are going to go mucking up reliability for like 5mph max. I saw people do the same things with the ruckus, and imo if you're trying to get more performance out of these bikes you bought the wrong bike..
😂 I knew a kid that thought like that he just bought a R7 and….. yeah he died on it going faster than he needed to
@LifeofBurch I'm sorry but is that front tyre facing the right way?, I've done car directional tyre's on cars with arrow style patterns genuinely has to be facing the motion it roles hence why it's called a directional tyre, it should have an arrow on the sidewall with description of directional. If this is facing the wrong way you are destroying your grip potential specially when it comes to the rain.
When are you getting the next shock and giving us review? I definitely want to swap the shock, but don't know which would be a good choice as my navi is only 5 days old with less than 50miles so yeah its very stiff.. thanx for alllll the videos.
Does the Navi have steel wheels? The reason I ask is, I had a Toyota RAV with with steel wheels that rusted badly after 6 years.
Thanks so much for this vid. I bought a Navi for my home in Costa Rica. Man i cant wait to do these mods i cant take the poop stock throttle response. I'm going to look around on your channel. To see did you do the how 24 the installs
Few guys around me have switched to a 12" rear
Could you get a small dirt bike front fender or one of the flexible mountain bike style front fenders? Those bicycle ones just ziptie to the forks I think...could maybe put it right below the fork brace
I was also curious to hear your thoughts on the CDI rev limiter remover from Rollin wrench, I'm curious how your mods can get you past the rev limiter and how much more top speed could you get with this CDI plug in, also in regards to the variator do you think there would be a difference between Malossi, Reveno or the scooter swap shop kit? thx for all your great content
Awesome video Burch🎉 Have you thought of getting a seat cover? I have one from Cheeky Seats and it is a must have imo.. very comfy
Thanks dude! For awhile I was pretty set on getting a Cheeky Seats cover, but probably won’t do that now. The Navi has become my daily neighborhood beater and transport to and from the storage unit, so it gets left out in the rain and elements pretty often. I wouldn’t want the seat cover to get ruined from all the weather, and I’m never riding this thing long enough for the seat comfort to be a big enough issue. They make some seriously gorgeous covers though!! 🙌🏻
Shoutout to Cheeky Seats a fine Pennsylvania company!
Does the front tire fit with the front fender on?
So you didn’t rejet the carb after the exhaust? Airbox must be pretty restrictive.
what happened to the windscreen? Your link on previous video has already been
I just got a Navi and I'm currently looking at an NCY needle bearing quick throttle kit. Any chance it's worth it? First time rider here.
Do you think you will ever upgrade the carbs on the Navi and the xr150L? I have a grom clone that I recently upgraded the carb on and I’m thinking of getting either a a Navi or xr150L as my next bike. Either that if engine swap the grom clone to a 5 speed 190cc engine
Do a fiber supermoto style front fender
Where does one take their Navi like what shop even fixes these up?
Center sprins should always be equal or harder that the clutch spring. Id recommend 1.2k springs on both for a stock engine. Its ok if you dont believe me. But do listen to cvt tuning experts. We do race scooters here in south east asia.
Are those available for this? I saw in his video he had the 1000rpm and 1500rpm springs but didn't see anything mentioned about 1200rpm ones
Im thinking about getting one just for commuting. I dont need anything huge.
Did you notice a speedometer difference with he larger tires?
Do you have the flush mount turn lights? ..I ordered them if you have any tips please let me know
Hey great video! Can i asked how you smoked out the turn signals?
Wow. Fall is in full swing in WI. I had to put the bikes away yesterday. Riding season is done for me. Riding till almost November is wonderful.
Maryland must have a longer riding season.
This was actually filmed almost 2 weeks ago, I was sick all last week which is why there wasn’t a video last Sunday. This was supposed to be last week’s video, but I never ended up being able to edit it before succumbing to my cold 😷 BUT we are having quite the warm spell right now which is unusual! It was almost 80 degrees yesterday, but all the leaves have already started falling, so it’s a weird mind game lol next week is back to lows in the 30’s and 40’s though 🥶
My Honda NAVi is topping out at 42mph… acceleration is not great either! Can you give me some advice please?? 🙏
There's a lot of factors with these real small machines...your altitude, height, weight, etc. Your altitude could cause you to need a different jet size, your height makes it less aerodynamic and obviously weight has a direct impact on performance. That said, some fairly cheap and easy work seems to get a good return from this little machine
Did you happen to buy two new tires,Michelin, front and back or just the rear since it had a hole?
What does modding the transmission do to the warranty?
Can you run the Michelin city grips with the stock fenders?
Great video Burch !!! 🤙🏽
Cool bike ! But with the cost for all those performance ugrades, you didn't want a Grom ?
Just bought a new navi I love it
Subbed
Definitely thinking about getting a navi i just got my motorcycle licenses. But around where I am is alot of back roads and hills so wondering if it will handle those hills.
Hmm I’d say it depends on how steep the hills are. Either way, I probably wouldn’t consider it unless you do the CVT work that I mentioned. Before that, the Navi really did struggle with hills, but it’s waayyy better now! Even on the hilliest road I’ve taken it on, it’ll hold 45mph up hills, but they weren’t crazy steep so not sure how it compares to where you are. Another thing to consider is going back down the hills. If they’re really steep, the Navi’s drum brakes may be a little lacking and you may consider something like the Grom which has disc brakes all around. Hope that helps! Congrats on getting your motorcycle license!! 😎🤘🏻
I have had my grom almost 10 years I got it as one of the first ones that came out. I still ride and love it, but it is just enough power. Any less power and you will find yourself being tailgated, and that is sketchy on a little bike. Get a grom as a first bike, or something like the xr150
Maybe even the newer ADV 160...I had the 150 and it was slow on hills. Being a CVT also, you can probably upgrade parts if you found a good deal on a 150
Looking very east mid eastcoast with the orange leaves
I hate that even the Navi has more available parts and upgrades compared to my Super Cub. I had to spend some real money to "make it mine" and I'm going to do a front sprocket swap this summer.
I dont know if you did it but you can try the Ac to Dc convert for led 🤔
Yea I’ve been thinking about doing that for awhile! That may end up being one of my winter projects this year 😎🤘🏻
After you put the exhaust, transmission work, and tire’s was it still cheaper than a stock grom? I’ve been looking at both and I’ve been leaning more to the grom because of the acceleration, it sounds like it would be safer because of that. I would love to get the Navi because if the price and transmission but if I’m going to hold up traffic I don’t want that. Buying a bike that cost $2000 it seems silly to do any mods just to make if safer if you can get a nicer bike for about the same after the mods.
Not sure if the Grom has the storage capacity that the Navi has. If not, something to think about. Think the cvt mods total 300-40 and the yoshimura exhaust is about 450-500. I can fit a gallon of milk in that thing. 6 20oz bottles. etc. it's pretty hefty.
@@hotaruasmaria7504the storage is a definite bonus
Did you have to do any shaving for the tires
Do the tires have an inner tube?
Would a bike shop do these mods for you? Especially the first mod
Great overview! Love the Navi!
Thanks!! 🧡🧡🧡
@@LifeOfBurch 💚
Did you consider tank size increase.that is what stopped my buying one
gonna do anything to the intake and/or carb? might be able to get that bad boy up to or even a little past 60 mph. possibly match the rear wheel size to the front? really curious to hear your thoughts on such things.
Intake and carb work aren’t in the plans, but then again none of this really was 😂 I’m just not sure the money is worth the minimal gains that I’ll see. I’m more interested in the intake just to clean the back end up, but then I’d have to re-jet to compensate so…I don’t know. We’ll see if I ended up tackling that as a winter project.
I’ve been tossing around the idea of doing a 12” rear wheel, but pretty sure that’s out of the plans now that I had to put these new tires on. If I get a 12” rear I’ll also have to get a new rear tire obviously, but the 120/70 won’t fit in the rear so I’d feel compelled to swap the front to a matching size too. And from what I’ve seen, even with a 110/70 in the rear, you have to shave the case down a bit. So yea…again, just doesn’t seem worth my time or money.
I got the Navi as a cheap beater bike, so every dollar I throw into it kinda defeats that purpose. And no matter how much I spend, it’ll still be slower than my Grom. So I’d rather leave it cheap and practical as my only bike that I don’t really care about lol
@@LifeOfBurch 100% fair, plus if you put on a more open intake you will really want to cover that rear tire again.
does the stock front fender fit over the upgraded tire you put on?
Doubtful...in the tire install video he showed the clearance and the front tire almost touched the fork gaiters
what model is that Yoshimura Exhaust pipe?
I just learned of this bike today… I wanted it, But no license lol… I would ride it anyway to be honest, If I was able to get it registered and insured, so legal on the street.. But I was putting it out of my mind until I saw this video and realized these things can be upgraded…So now I want it again
I will get this set up
why did you take the windscreen off? and did you have to mod anything to get the tires to fit? or did they just go on with no clearance issues.
The windshield is on the other Navi...his girlfriend's Navi
My navi took my 5'9" , 260 lb ass to 50 no problem
The color is sick
what about air intake
I almost forgot, for Science,
Using Google's GPS, it shows how fast you are going in relation to the speed limit sign symbol. How far off is the speedometer with the bigger tires? I am trying to find out how to calibrate said speedometer to compensate for the bigger tires.
Hey thats the brown novi that was shacking apart so how did you fix it
He has a whole Navi playlist..go back and watch the progress... everything to fix it is in the videos
Lots more upgrades you could do to this thing. The Navi is truly a blank canvas.
How much did you pay for the yoshi ?
Nice to see the Navi again🫶🏼
I think the shock is too soft because of the tyres as well as the shock as you've put a softer rubber and a better quality tyre on
That’s a nice theory, but the shock went on 3 months before the tires 😅😂 The shock is just too soft for my weight. It bottoms out way too easily.
@@LifeOfBurch oh right that's a shame
Great video
Be cool to turbo this thing. Reminds me of how much hype the ruckus had back in the day
Wait…do people really turbo Ruckuses?! (Ruckuses…Rucki…what’s the grammatically proper term? 😂)
@@LifeOfBurch yeah there were a few guys in High School that had them they did all kinds of stuff with from lowering to full custom engine builds with a turbo lol sketchy as heck but man they were fast lol 😂
Big bore? Do they even make big bore jug and piston kits for this thing?
Pretty sure ScooterSwapShop looked into producing a big bore kit and said the price it would cost to do a big bore just wasn’t worth it. Someone makes an upgraded cam, but it’s not on my radar. I want to keep mine as reliable as possible so I can use it as my little neighbor beater, and the slight power increase just isn’t worth risking any reliability.
Wait…after I typed all that, I realized the proper response was- Yea apparently they’re calling the big bore kit “buying a Grom” 🤔😂
There's a 125cc kit but is not available in the states.
Did u do a clutch combo install vid?
Good video
I need to take yours for a ride and see how much faster that thing really is than my stock one was😂
I keep telling you to!! It’s sooo much better! 😩
@@LifeOfBurchGrom/Navi day today?!
@@KomotoVlogs the Grom still doesn’t have a way of putting the license plate on… 😅👀
Smh. You Arlene that colour orange ;) (kidding of course)
Finally took one of these Navi’s out. Lol they’re actually a blast to ride. Gutless to shit… but fun.
Great video as always Mike.
Yea it’s hard to wrap your head around how TRULY gutless they are until you experience it for the first time…it’s almost shocking how slow they are in stock form 😂😂😂
@@LifeOfBurch oh you’re not kidding. I thought the grom was gutless. Lol yet these little mini motors are SO FUN!!
Do you think the clutch upgrade is something a novice can figure out and do with some youtube help?
84 and 85
Is the house finally clear of the sickness?
The sickness has finally passed for the most part *knocks on wood* 👀
Will the city grips fit with fenders? I swapped out weights out to 12 gram ones and my bike is so much more responsive but I need better handling
Where are you filming bro?
Damm, I wonder how much cheaper scooters can be if they had steel wheels instead of aluminium.
Let us know what shocks you prefer, if or when you change them.
I have a suggestion Sir, I'm not sure if the Honda Navi can do this, but maybe get an ECU upgrade for the Navi? I know the Honda grom can get an upgraded ECU. Just an idea.
The Navi is carbureted, not fuel injected like the Grom, so no ECU unfortunately 😔
@@LifeOfBurch I forgot that carburetors do not have an ECU, which makes a lot more sense, thank you for replying Sir. You did an amazing job upgrading the Navi, especially with a yoshimura exhaust with a CVT upgrade, it looks like a lot of fun. The only other thing I can possibly think of is a Carburetor upgrade kit with an aftermarket air filter. Besides that, what an interesting motorbike. For that reason I will hit you with that sub LifeOfBirch!
@@niko2002 ayy thanks dude!! I appreciate you! 😎🤘🏻

Glad you didnt get pos vance hynes 300 bucks header that broke twice within 60 days😢
The whole reason my parents got this navi for me is because its by honda and it was not expensive. why would we go and put all that useless expensive crap on my navi and make a $1,999 out the door price is what they paid for it. Into a $5,400 navi by doing all that crap to the trans and tires and other dum stuff. for that price they could have bough me a used honda civic. so my hats (benie) to those who got the navi and are happy just the way it is. I SURE the hell am
