I'm sure someone has mentioned it already, but in case they haven't ... that whole blowing in your tank crap in the morning can easily be solved with a bulb pump in the gas line. A bulb pump like on a small outboard boat motor. fuel only goes one direction through it, and a few squeezes up the bulb, will prime the engine and get rid of all the air in the line. Bob in Germany
Your launch problem is maybe due to having a bigger primary jet than the carb can take or needs and drowns it with fuel and when you released and throttle again, the fuel levels out correctly again.
Primary mainly deals with launching or the initial idle and throttle up. So it the jet is too big or too small, it affects both idle and launch.. set it just right and you can idle as low as possible and launch like a drag bike...
@@Carlow888 - I dunno...I also experience this on my stock Ruckus. But, I'm also replacing the carb like this week... *shrug*
Will Rayne MC hopefully it’s just the carb.. but wish it’s not electrical.. but usually it’s a carb problem fuel or air flow problem. Even with stock..
Get a one way check valve for your fuel line and place it right after the pump. Just my 2 cents.
That's exactly what I was thinking
Great video and you’re right about keeping it stock. I bought a 2018 ruckus and it runs like a dream. Only mods I have are a exhaust, polini variator and lowered seat. Some cosmetics too, but over all the ruck is fun in the city. Not sure where all the hate comes from. It’s really a nice little thing!
I used a fuel check valve from a stock Ruckus to keep the fuel from draining back into the tank. I never have to "make love" to the tank. Its part #16800-GET-831. Do the rear disc brake conversion, makes the bike way safer when stopping.
Side Job Powerwashing 100% correct get one Motonosity you should have one off your old parts
is that a mk1 rabbit in your picture, looks like you are a rabbit/ruckus owner and im a golf/zoomer owner
As always, great upload! Always a nice break from work when there's a new motonosity video :)
With that said though, the Ruck engine keeps misfiring. Any idea what might be causing it? I had that happen on an old bike I had in my teens and it drove me nuts, and I had literally zero money back then to even try to fix it, lol. Still to this day misfires like that gives me nightmares.
Definitely do a 5 things for the CRF. You've had it for a hot minute and we almost never see it anymore!
Accurate title would read “5 ways I messed up my bike AFTER modifying it and not knowing how to properly re-tune it”
Can't you just put a small hand pump or something in-line with the fuel line so that you can hand pump the fuel? Just look for something called 'fuel primer bulb'.
Hay man awesome video. I've never bought a scooter before but love the Rukus and all the mods that can be applied. I definitely plan on checking out that playlist. Thanks!
@Motonisity what's the mpg with 171cc? Ever did the math? You reckon it's ok to do the 171cc mod with wide wheels with stock wheel base? I'm not a fan of the stretch, just my taste and I want the same cc-ish.
When I seen you moved here, I knew you would fall in love with the space and roads. I did the same thing. Couple years later I just went ahead and bought a house.
If you were to do it all over would you just keep it stock? Or what would you do different?
I'm a ruckus owner in ATL. Cant get it to idle. Wondering if a GY6 swap would make a difference. Stock now but I want to drop and stretch it. Any advice?
Does it lean more on the left side? ‘Cause the engine move towards left. More weight on the left. Do you lean right when riding your ruckus?
i only watch your ruckus videos.
get a speedo / gas gauge on our ruckus.
and get a larger lithium battery so you can start it longer.
Is a ruckus hard on your back ..would you recommend it for a old guy with a back problem ?
When i built my Metruck with a gy6 swap I decided to use the stock fuel pump, so when I turn tbe key it primes the carb then I I press the start button, fires up every time, never once have I had to blow in the tank, just a thought
Can I ask what type of handlebars are on the bike and are they drilled to accept the nipple from the clamp on brakes and throttle gear?
A good check valve in the fuel line may solve your leak down problem. You could also run a wire from the battery via a small fuse to a push button PRIME switch that powers the fuel pump before the engine is started. Most bikes run the fuel pump when the key is in the ON position to pressurize the fuel lines before the starter switch engages the starter.
The check valve is a good idea. The fuel pump is a vacuum pump not an electric pump. That's why it drains back to the tank. Leaving the factory ruckus electric fuel pump on is the way to go.
🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘no limits🤘
Check valve is a must. Also your fuel pump might be too weak or not situated in the sump correctly. Set your GoPro up to watch your fuel line and see if you're getting bubbles on hard acceleration.
Electric fuel pump for the win! I still love my gy6 ruckus. I really enjoyed your build series on this. I binge watched it before building mine.
I live in NY, would a stock Ruckus be classified as a Class A or B vehicle? Would it require a Motorcycle license or can I ride with a regular Drivers License?
I’m thinking of owning a Honda ruckus can u tell me anything I should know?
Wonder if you could put a hand squeeze fuel ball pump on there like an outboard, might keep the fuel from backing up too.
I've had a 2016 Honda Metropolitan and that was one of the most fun little bikes ever. I just got a 2018 Honda Ruckus yesterday and that thing's awesome too. Scooters are a lot of fun.
Swam you think these little guys can make it up a mountain? I wanna get one and throw a tent and sleeping bag on it and ride up into the mountains near my home to camp
@@boredandagitated Oh definitely. But it depends on if you mean offroading a scooter, which I don't think they can. I've never offroaded a scooter before though.
Swam I wouldn’t need to off road, worst case scenario some gravel or dirt roads to get to the site but I can walk the bike if it’s real bad
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE REAR OUTPUT SHAFT i thought a c clip held it in but its not on the short side is it under the seal on the long side ???
I absolutely love the paint job on your Ruckus. Did you do it yourself??
Sounds like I fuel prob. If the clutch was slipping it would rev to the moon an not really go anywhere. It sounds like it’s to rich. It dumps to much fuel and can’t rev up enough to start burning it. But as soon as u let off an get moving it’s under less load and revving higher allowing it to burn the rich mixture. I’d start with setting the float height then if that doesn’t work go down a main jet size. Jets only work based on throttle position so if it’s doing it at wide open that’s the problem
I'm looking for a moped that isn't so low to the ground that runs at stock. I'm not interested in modding it (at least not yet). I'm just looking for one to get around town to do errands but I would like a moped that I can lean and not worry about it scraping the bottom or sides. So I need to get a 50cc model so I can ride it without a license. I was looking at the Honda metropolitan but it seems to y to make turns without scraping. What moped/brand would you suggest? I would also like to be able to get it serviced and get parts without any problems. I'm in North Carolina right now.
Honda PA 50 ii.
How much did it cost to build the ruckus if you had to pay?
Pilot jet little holes are clogged clean them with carb cleaner and put ethanol free gas and stabilizer because ethanol free gas still goes bad just takes longer . Or ride it more than once every 2 months . Good video
Yep that's the plan haha
Dyno the R6 🙏🏽
Love the vids Moto ! Keep it up
I love the ruckus. The ruckus is what brought me to your channel.
motonosity you should change the clutch springs to a higher rpm springs that way the will engage in the power band and not bog out from a stop other than that its perfect
You can wire up a jumper point to the fuel pump, so you can hook it to a extra battery to pump the fuel to the carb, so yo do not have to blow into the tank or run your battery down.
Taking my daughter to her birthday dinner last night, we turned off 620 and took the Anderson/Bullock route to the Oasis. Thought about how you are gonna miss your tree tunnel. Keep life lived!
I'm lost, why do you still have the R3?
Look ur damn spark plug. Sounds lean . I work on these gy6 engine. Beating on it the more u drive!! .. anyways what cam did u end up installing and what size weights?
Thé clip of you blowing into the gas tank hit home 🤣
When are you giving the r3 away?
jeeze all these issues i would probably just get the lower seat frame and some pegs to put my legs forward and keep it stock otherwise
Do cops ever give you a hard time?
I'm a new but older interested guy in doing something like this. I see the Honda modified ones end up with new motor-swing arm shocks wheels and tires that look cool, and end up spending lots more to do it to the factory original honda. I'm finding here at the end of 2022 these Maddog Chinese knockoffs for what I believe is 2200.00 bucks that are already looking good with the bigger engine, wheels, and tires and stretched. whats the Ruckus group of guys' thoughts on this.
Modify an original Honda or buy the Chinese or whoever makes the Maddog model?
Couldn't you use an outboard pumpy thingy or variant to prime?🤔
I still want to see a ruckus vs diwd Harley grom thing race lol
Omg that monotone buzzing lawn mower sound drive me crazy after about 5 minutes
Press Mute. 🤣😂. 👁👍🏿👽🛸
What state are you living?
lighter weights in the CV clutch might help with that launch issue. I could be wrong though.
Modified CVT scooters require a lot of trial and error with roller weights and clutch springs to get the best performance. Maybe should try a stiffer clutch spring so that the clutch engages at higher RPMs. Should help you get off the line faster.
you can put a hand pump or fuel bulb on the float breather and pump it in so you don't have to make out with your tank
Hey. I became a huge fan of your mods. I'm all the way from South Africa. Just wanted to say, that issue you having getting it off the line sounds like over fueling not clutch issues. You running a none diaphragm carb? So the slide lifts on the cable not on vacuum. To much fuel at a to low RPM. That's why you need to let go of throttle then reapply.
Hey bruhdah! Great job!
Outside of the cost of the ruckus I just want to know what the total amount of this build?
My buddy is selling his 2009 R1 with 14k miles for $6,500. Is that a fair price or should I talk him down? (Full Toce and some carbon fairings)
Need yo guys's help
Hmm the fuel thig?? Boaters use a bulb type primer pump on outboards cause of similar issues of fuel draining back
I love your videos good content and entertaining. Please make more videos on yamaha r6.
Make a video of a step by step process to clean the carb in the ruckus
does it sputter at top end?
I got scooter like one of those 10” Tao Taos.. but I upgraded everything besides big bore bc not sure if I should risk it. Like I can get it to 45 on straight np but I wanna make it faster tho .
Sell it ASAP and buy a used grom
Joshua Collier hmmm grooms are small for me I’m 6’4
So, what did you do to it to increase the power/speed compared to the stock Ruckus?
Love the videos!
You want a one way valve as fitted to one of those Chinese diesel heaters have that will fit it.
Why not use a one way check valve for the fuel system
Good video keep it up
Why did you move to Atlanta?
Buy it
maybe try a bigger fuel pump if there is an option for the ruckus
What color clutch springs do you have?
Tony Antao green
Lmao at you blowing in the gas tank, love you man. Also buy that car
I’m sure I saw some tongue!!
Because when you let off the gas a little you let some fuel in the carburetor and the engine picks up probably the fuel pumps not keeping up on hard acceleration
I want to ride with you one day man lol it’ll be so dope! For me, you, & Ryan to ruck out one day!
Zosh my boi!!!!!
Burnout Bobby is pretty cool.
So did you registered it as actually bike to ride it oh HW now?
From looking at your launch it has nothing to do with the clutch but everything to do with a bad tune to your carb. from idle your motor dont like jumping to full throttle. Thats telling me your needle needs adjustment. On gy6's you need to tune for temperature as well im sure if you tuned before the summer you are running rich now.
Did you watch the video at all?
Put a Dr. Pulley clutch on it and solve that slipping issue. Also Racoon racing uses the OEM fuel pump and solves that vacuum pump issue.
The fuel problem can be solved with a one way valve so the fuel cant go back in the tank. Put one right after the tank.
Hahaha yeah, the automatic stock clutches are horrible. I just put a new carb on my 150, and the air/fuel screw was all the way out.....I about damn near died cause it accelerated so hard xD
Hi. Here is the guy from Germany again. did they get the parts donated or sponsored and to be able to rebuild a ruckus bike? that goes pretty well into the money. other people buy cars for that ;-)
This guy have a 50cc,125cc,300cc,450/500cc,600cc bikes
I hope you ride more with chase now that your kinda closer..maybe a adventure series like he does with yummi
Oh yea I know exactly wut it is now that last launch told me everything good buddy
The problem you have with the idle si the needle setting of the carburator, try to set the seeger on that just one position upper then your actual setting.
Also seems to have a problem with the spark graduation or a too big main jet
But juuuuust a little.
That configuration of the alimentation sistem is veeeery sensible to the climate and altitude change 😉
Where in Atlanta?
Would it be possible to take something like a Honda Forza 280cc scooter, and mount that engine on something like a Grom or Ninja 250 body, to have an automatic "scooter-cycle"?
I love the "twist-and-go" nature of scooters, being fully automatic, but I also love the look and feel of a small sport bike like the Ninja 250...
I just wish they made more automatic bikes! Especially in the lower displacement "beginner" sector I'm sure they'd sell many times more. (Not being able to shift is the only reason I dont own a Ninja! Lol)
Why not invest a little time to learn how to ride a Ninja 250? They're not expensive, they're easy to fix and you get to say you can ride a motorcycle! ;)
Andrew Martin I actually have a Suzuki GZ250, but I've done martial arts and boxing my whole life, and so my left hand is kinda messed up, my fingers and wrist get very sore from working a clutch after a while. Although shifting is a problem for me, I do really want a Ninja 250 or 300 and have been considering trading for it, but my mom loves the low cruiser style of my Suzuki, so I'll just _HAAAVE_ to have both! There's no choice ;D oh well, I guess I'll have to deal with a garage full of motorcycles and scooters... how ever will I cope?
Had the same exact hesitation problem with my Ruckus. Reason why I sold it. 😅
PakmanR3 Doest thou even tune?
launch problem is not the clutch, its the carb jetting.
No, it's not
Key holder!!🙌
You did what they do to them in Miami. It was beautiful before and now it’s not. Performance modifications would’ve been great.
Clutch isn’t slipping that’s a fuel jet issue
Use non ethanol fuel in things with a carb, you’ll thank me later.
I should have kept my Honda Metropolitan. The storage that thing offered was amazing.
get a 150cc scooter. 50cc is dangerously slow
I agree
Got a 50cc ruckus clone
A month in I already wished that I got something that could go highway speeds.
In the city it's fine, but when you get out of the city where speeds get up
Well
Getting tailgated is no fun
I'd buy one. Debating between this or a grom
so straight up those tubes?
I can see people say to mod with caution and have the right wheels. Going that fast looks a bit dangerous. Going over a pothole would suck.
How much does gy6 swaps usually cost
Richard Roberts theres a thing called google, try it out
If I had the money I’d buy one exactly like yours! Me and mate would love to have one each and bombing down to the beach it would be so much fun! One day 🙏🏻😂
motonosity you probably can stick a whole bottle of carb cleaner in the gas tank and let that run through it it might help.
your carb's jets are the issue if you have a problem with launching. you need to retune it.
About how much did it cost you to build your ruckus?
8k
That place is so gorgeous green
