    SOLD!!! My wife and I have never seen any of your videos before. We have an Air Head sitting in the box and take possession of our RV next month. I was dreading removing the old toilet and installing the Air Head.
    The idea is that we will put the Trelino in the shower area and still be able to use the regular toilet when we are at a campground with full hookups.
    The other selling point is that I don't have to wire 12v to the fan or drilling any vent holes in the RV. Also, the idea that if we want to resell the RV later on the original toilet is still in there.

    It sounds like you are using what I have had in my tiny for 6 years. And for the urine smelling what I have learned is I use white distilled vinegar two tablespoons and two tablespoons of citric acid. It cuts the smell totally non-existent and makes all the urine crystals non-existent. I have definitely been considering one of these for an area that I cannot have a septic system in. For now I'm going to keep my other one in my tiny but I'll see how I like this one. Glad to know it is easy to clean and I'm right with you around females in that flapper. You can't just do one or the other sometimes it's impossible depending. So that's a great idea thank you very much

      Hi Kathie, do you mix the vinegar and citric acid with water (if so, how much?), then pour a bit in after each #1?

    Great video you guys! We currently have the Sea Head which is decent but a bit of a hassle to clean. The urine jug is a pain to empty and impossible to clean. One thing we did that I HIGHLY recommend is to write in big letters on the side of your urine jug "FRESH WATER ONLY - H20" or "DRINKING WATER ONLY" or something like that for even stealthier disposal. I'd say 90% of the time there is a funky smell in the van it is the urine jug. You have to constantly empty the urine jug. This requires taking it out of the van and walking to a responsible place and pouring it out. Sometimes that responsible place is in some bushes. That being said, it's best to not draw attention to yourself and emptying foul smelling urine in a public place could possibly be a way to draw attention. When you're strutting down the street with a jug that says FRESH WATER ONLY on it, no one thinks twice about what you are doing. (probably just rinsing out their drinking water jug, if anyone even notices you). And if you're worried about suddenly being confused and mixing up your drinking water and your urine jug and taking a sip because it says "Fresh Water" on the urine jug than you've got bigger problems than cleaning your toilet ! Haha 😉😂

    • @Vankookz
      @Vankookz  Рік тому +1

      OMG! Best comment ever! We have definitely been guilty of the responsible pouring out of the piss jug! Fresh Water! Love it I may get the sharpie out now and add that. If I had another best comment challenge you would be taking home another grand prize! PS anyone out there reading the comments We HIGHLY recommend checking out Matt's page and watching him live on youtube or any other videos. Incredibly talented musician, doing some really cool stuff.

      If you put a little cheap pine disinfectant in the urine jug it will completely stop any odours from developing .If people use a compost toilet properly there should be no odours from either source.

    Best review of this toilet I've seen on the Net. It tipped me into a purchase. Just one comment. Trelino recommends against using water, disinfecting wipes or bleach solutions (which make up many wipes) for cleaning the separator or any of the components. They say it may "may break down the material of the toilet causing the seat to become bumpy or rough." They recommend a vinegar solution made from a concentrated vinegar product.

    Great video. I've been looking at a lot of composting toilets for my boat, Nature's Head, C-Head, and others, even to the point of doing DIY, but just a few days ago, I found this brand of toilet online, and was amazed at the simplicity of use. Tough I'm sure I will have to do a few mods for the marine life, In my case, I will have to go with the medium size, as the small is too small, and the large is too large. Space is somewhat tight in boat heads, so I'm getting one, and doing away with the DIY plans. This is just perfect for my needs. Thanks for the great review. Definitely made up my mind, and could actually by 2 for the price of 1 Nature's Head, with more than 50% less hassle. Great job!

    I have a teeny, tiny vacation cabin (112 sq ft) in the woods where septic isn't possible (too close to the river). We've been using a DIY urine diverting toilet for years, which has worked perfectly, but were looking for something smaller. The replacement toilet had to be small enough to be stored in the mini cabinet under the mini fridge in the mini cabin (tired of the slog to the toilet tent at night) Enter the Trelino Evo size small. Since my decision, I have been searching for reviews on Trelino toilets to confirm it would be the right choice for us.
    Thank you both for doing such a thorough review! Your review answered all my practical questions about a Trelino toilet from actual users. I can now purchase a Trelino without hesitation. :) thanks again!

    Thank you for the review! I have been wondering about this toilet since I saw a unwrapping of one on Christian Schaffer’s channel. It’s a beauty! I would buy one if our C-Head wasn’t working out so well for us. We use a milk jug for the urine container and throw it out every couple of weeks and start with a new jug. Helps control smells. You’re review has me thinking that maybe I’ll take the crank out of our toilet and add a garbage bag as a liner. It is also designed to be used this way. Maybe this way would be easier to manage? Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

    Hello you two,
    You said at some point that you used it 5 to 6 times each (for #2s I’d say), my questions are:
    1- how many days can you go before having to empty it? (I want to go to places where there’s no services for days…
    2- We are told AIR is needed in composting toilets so how does this one work without it (except for when you open the lid)?
    3- How do you know when your pee jug is full if you can see the urine level?
    You can answer me here or in private (like Messenger) PLEASE, pretty please; I have a feeling I’ll have more questions…

    Great review, just discovered your channel researching toilets for a build. I am planning an extended trip so in part of consideration for this toilet as an option - How many Coco bricks would you estimate you go through a month when changing out the solids every 2-5 days? This looks like a great option but need to plan for how many bricks would need to carry between getting to a shipment re-supply location.Thanks!

    • @Vankookz
      @Vankookz  9 місяців тому

      I would say about 1 brick a month/two months. We don’t use the solids everyday but it gets a decent amount of use. The secret is so break up a decent amount of the coco coir and store it in a bag/container and just add it as you go.

      The website have all toilets rated at 330lbs. That is most likely for sitting, but I would be confortable standing on the one with the wood lid. Not the plastic lid though. There is also a picture showing a guy standing on it. Be mindful of having a stable ground under without any rocks or other objects that could crack the bottom of the toilet while standing on it.

    I like the idea of this toilet. However it’s a bit misleading as Compost won’t break down at a dump site, since a pile needs regular turning for oxygen to assist the process. The bag may break down, but even with turning for aeration, waste still takes half a year to become anything other than well, waste.

    So... If you don't turn your solids, and it doesn't use a fan, how exactly is this different from a DIY build? Other than it costing 10x what it takes to build it yourself using a separator you buy online? Hell, you don't even have to "build" one. My five gallon bucket lined with compostable bags and two cups of equine pine pellets works just as well, and it doesn't smell at all. Why on earth would I spend hundreds of dollars for something that doesn't do anything more than my bucket does? It just doesn't make sense to me.

    Overpriced but a very nice basic kind of smart and cheaper than other composting toilets. I don't see how it is a composting toilet, though. Do you just squish the poop around through bag? I like the simplicity of the design. I always wonder why people try to clean out the inside of a composting toilet. Don't you need those bits in the corners as bacterial starter for the next new poops? You guys need to work on your presentation or edit all the repeated points. Have you tried preparing a basic outline, like a list with main points, before presenting? or do you just wing it? The repeating is hard to watch.
