I became Christian again after this revelation by this Welsh prayer to the Lord and our Christ! Thank you for this amazing performance of this sacred prayer.
Without doubt this was the standout moment of the coronation for me. It was wholly captivating and really summed up the power and majesty of the event in a couple of extraordinary minutes. Congratulations Sir Bryn.
"Speaking on Coronation Kyrie, the first Welsh-Language piece, Mr Mealor said: “It is a meditative, introspective piece based on a blend between Gregorian chant and Cerdd Dant (Welsh Penillion singing - an important part of eisteddfodau). I was inspired by the great Welsh tunes - Aberystwyth, Cwm Rhondda, Ar Lan Y Môr - and the composition is coloured by the harmonies of these songs. It is a cry from the deep soul of the hills and valleys of Wales for hope, peace, love, and friendship.” (The meaning of the Welsh-language song being sung at the coronation, Wales online, May 6, 2023)
Sorry, not buying it. That was Elvish if I’ve ever heard it and the singer was smuggled in from somewhere in Middle-earth. The whole thing was otherworldly.
Sadly, the anointing of a king (never a queen) belongs to the Old Testament, not the New Testament - which only contains anointing of Christ for burial (MARK 14:8), and the sick. No temporal rulers in spiritual matters… JAMES 5: 14 “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

Great moment in history. This is really the most beautiful thing I have heard for a while. I have listened to this several times now. I still have goosebumps. Great composition. great arrangement. Great performance. Great language. I wish all the best for you Welsh people out there. May Wales and the Welsh language last forever ❤
Quel extraordinaire chanteur ! J'ai reconnu sa voix avant de le reconnaître, lui. Quelle aisance, quelle puissance, quelle profondeur... quelle prestance ! Un vrai roi devant le roi. Merci Sir Bryn !
Bryn's voice can be thunderous in his operatic roles, but also such sweetness when he sings quietly. There is so much of his work here on You Tube, but may I recommend his version of the carole " Still " which you can also find here.Out of season I know, but it is exquisite.
I was driving thru London on Coronation day and turned the radio on and this came on ! I was totally undone and overcome by the goosies, Really teared up .....!
Getting the coronation kyrie sung by Bryn Terfel in Welsh while getting crowned has to be fantastic, magical and mystical. It seems to be a call from the very deep soul of Wales for hope and everything else, that is good in this world. Just wonderful and the first welsh-language song ever performed for a coronation!
@Boohootube AKA Big Brother ?I was asking a serious question. During the Coronation, a group of male choir was chanting & I wanted to know what song it was.on the screen it said investiture. But,I can't find it.What's silly
Probably the most beautiful piece i have heard in years. When the song reaches a climax around 0:50, the harmonies from the boys choir are just heartwrenching. It moved me to tears instantly.
There are a number of young ladies form Methodist College, Belfast in the choir as well. Of whom we over here are immensely proud. Beautiful music and a heavenly performance all round, apart from the idiot commentator.
Llais o nef a llais o Gymru. Unwaith eto, Bryn Terfel yn bendigedig iawn!! Bryn's voice is just amazing and whoever wrote the piece is a genius. Musical highlight of the Coronation and there were many challengers for that position.
Llongyfarchiadau! Nid yw hogia Cymreig byth yn methu â gwneud i mi sefyll yn falch yn codi. Ond gwnaeth canu Syr Terfel hyd yn oed i'r blew yng nghefn fy ngwddw sefyll yn codi.
Just great. One of the best performance I ever heard. I didn't known him before. But from the first Moment it was obviously very special, emotional. I am not very religious. But this performance gives me a feeling that some people have when they pray. Thanks for that unforgettable moment.
Superb. Otherworldly. And I’m not buying all the backstory. This was elvish if I’ve ever heard it. And that singer was smuggled into Westminster Abbey from somewhere deep within the heart of Middle-earth. Many thanks for this!
Beautiful. I believe, too, that Charles was the very first prince of Wales to actually know the Welsh language. So this is a first in more than one way.
She's God given gift to humanity. One day all of us we will stand before the great Judge and give an accout of what we have done with the giftings God has given as His people. Eish😢

I can't believe she talked over this!
Magnificent.
Exactly. I have listened to it over and over again. He was in a special place.
Ugh....what a gauche thing for the announcer to do!!
...and not even to have bothered to pronounce his name correctly. Hideously disrespectful.
Probably the best performance of the coronation. It was insane
