Being a purple lover, I have many of these! The Cobalt Violet Hue is a pigment I've not seen from anyone else. You're right, it's much bluer than any genuine cobalt violet I've seen. The Ultramarine Violet is a very blue interpretation of the hue; it's actually PV 15 and PV 29 mixed. You are right, next to all these purples it looks pure blue! But next to Ultramarine, you can see the difference clearly. Their PR 202 is the brightest one I've seen, a very good example of the hue. I just got Magenta in the square 9 full pan palette. It's a lovely hue but a bit of a weak mixer. I added Permanent Carmine to make things more versatile.
I put all my Diox PV23 pigments including the Schmincke Violet in a south facing window for the longest days of the year for 7 months. They all did quite well. Especially my Winser Violet with no change at all. But my Schmincke one did nearly as well and is hardly noticeable. I have no problem using my Schmincke one. Of course this pigment can vary from batches no matter what brand so always test your own. All my PR122 pigments were amazingly lightfast also. I was very amazed that my Winser & Newton Prussian blue, PB27 didn't fade at all and the Antwerp only barely noticeable. This pigment can be less lightfast from batch to batch also no matter what brand. This is why some are claiming to be lightfast and they are not. Some pigments claim to be lesser lightfast and they can be very excellent when you test yourself.
I agree with you on the last one, it looks like French Ultramarine to me... I'd like to add all Quinacridones to my palette knowing all of them are rated 4 stars in lightfastness.. I might have to choose just 2
I love to add unexpected colors and PV23 is a favorite. I use PR233 a lot. Really like how it transforms granulation in other colors and mutes them. Really into a muted color palette right now.
Wow the false cobalt violet ended up with a really nice granulation! Does the lukas version have a similar granulation and intensity or is there a noticiable difference between them¿?
I just got it in the 9 full pan square palette! It's a lovely pink, but a bit on the weak side (in tinting strength) for a quin. It's fun to finally try it though.
I heard many artists rave about the Potters Pink, but so far I haven't bitten. I was tempted by the Magenta, to use as a primary red for mixing, but opted for the OCR version instead. I like the violets made by Winsor & Newton, especially Winsor Violet (Dioxazine) and the Ultramarine Violet. However, my favourite violet hue at the moment is Perylene Violet by Daniel Smith, which is great for mixing various dark tones. Wisteria is a super paint from Daniel Smith, best used for mixing and using its opaque qualities for creating more textured finishes.

Love Schmincke's Quin. Magenta as it is a great mixer. Vibrant purple with French Ultramarine *drool*. Potter's Pink is hard to rewet, so I can imagine it is hard lifting it from a dotcard. I love the crazy granulation though.
@@JayNathanWatercolor I pour my own pans from tubes. Just recently I poured a new half pan of Potter’s Pink and added two drops of glycerine. It rewets beautifully now.

I don't know about the Lukas as I've never tried it.
Love the quins, but pv23 was my fave. Too bad it will fade. Just looking at the swatch card is a pleasureable thing. Thank you!

It was a real pain getting it off the dot card. I actually have a pan of it so I could have just got it from there. 🤣

Potters pink, even I dont really use it I like this color so much. Schminckes potters pink is easier to rewet, as DS or WN potters Pink
I think I prefer the W&N potter's pink to this one. I actually thought the W&N rewet a little easier.
I'm interested in Cobalt Violet Hue (PV62) and Ultramarine Violet (PV15) lately because I been searching for a granulating Dioxazine Purple (PV23).
I love the PV62. The ultramarine violet is much too blue for me.

Yes I was shocked at how blue it was. I think I would choose another brand for that color
d'awww i wanted to see PV42 next to PV19~ that's okay~. pv29 looks so brown on here. but then again it doesn't translate well across camera/screen.

I’m bummed that so many reds and purples in schminke are not lightfast. Love my red and purples and blues
It is quite annoying that they have so many that aren't that lightfast. Or maybe they're just being more honest than other brands? 🤣
