    Thank you for the shout out, Teoh! I tend to stick with a PR122 if I want that bright magenta pop, and I liked your paintings! :)

    Oh, I love PR 122! I have both the softer Winsor Newton and the neon QoR version 🙂. I mix all my reds with Transparent Orange and PR 122, too.

    I love how they turned out. It’s so beautiful how the color mixtures are so messy. I’m inspired to draw a night scene now!
    I’ve recently been in love with Quin rose (pv19). I will swap it in with the rest of the color palette you used in this artwork and give it a try.

    Wow, I love how the sketches came out. (I love purple, too). You were painting so wet and just letting the paints do their thing until they poured off the page! Amazing, I really loved the effect.

    I think the sketches look great! The Quin Lilac looks warmer, and I love warm colors, so that's the sketch I prefer.

    Thanks Teoh. I just got PR 202 in the Jean Haines 10 color master set. It makes beautiful skin tones mixed with the nickle azo yellow and really nice brown mixed with the greens, very earthy. The whole set is a lot of fun.😊

      I got Schmincke's ruby red, that's a PV19 variation and, who knows, maybe an option as well? It get's 4 out of 5 Stars from them, so definitely among their pretty lightfast paint's :)

      The Holbein Opera is more lightfast than others, if you are interested in a very bright pink, but will still fade with time. Most others are a bit more on the bluish side.

    Great video like always Teoh! Somehow I like the muted one more. I feel it’s more fitting on that palette or something (?)
    I was wondering if you could make a video on placing people on a drawing without people. I always feel like it’s difficult to not make them look too out of place, floating, out of perspective or too big/small.

    As far as I know PR122 is generally very lightfast. So is that opera pink you talk about in the beginning a multi pigment paint?
    I have a Lukas magenta (pr122) I am quite happy with. An other option I plan to buy in the near future is PV 19 a quinacridone lillac, that is very similar to magenta.

    • @hansendesigns
      @hansendesigns 3 роки тому +1

      Unless you store all your work in a sketchbook or dark place, opera rose won’t hold up over time. You can’t do a commission with it.

    I love the mixtures when using Cobalt Blue. It's slightly brighter than the purple mixture with Ultramarine. PR122 is still on my palette but I prefer PV19 Quinacridone Rose. PR202 reminds me also of Quinacridone Violet but it's brighter.

    • @behruz_mirahmedov

      But cobalt blue is toxic

    • @Christine_R
      @Christine_R 3 роки тому

      @@behruz_mirahmedov It is... but I let the paint water sit for a while (for a few hours), pour the water into the sink and wipe out the jar with a paper towel.
      I painted with Cobalt Blue for 2 years now and I always wash my hands after painting. The reason why I use Cobalt Blue is that I was painting a lot of landscapes and Ultramarine Blue didn't fit my needs of "the perfect" blue on my palette.

    I use DS Hansa Yellow Light (which is cooler than Hansa Yellow Medium), with Quin. Magenta and Ultramarine. I think a cool yellow gives better mixes. I've never tried Quin. Lilac so cannot speak to that.

    Interesting. The difference between them. Thought both sketches could be improved by including even deeper shadows that you see when there is street lighting and signage. It would alleviate the slightly flat result you are getting as this is not your usual type of subject. I guess it must be very hot where you are as those were very wet washes that were drying so fast! Here it would take ages to dry which really interrupts any work flow. It is my major beef with watercolour, which otherwise I love. I have several versions of both these colours so thanks for showing them side by side.
