I'm looking forward to try mijello's quin magenta after I'm done with my holbein 😊 I also have the pigment in Sennelier and qor but they were not as vibrant as Holbein.
For me the strength of any magenta is in its mixes, which is why I prefer PR122 in general and Schmincke's Purple Magenta in particular (though Daniel Smith's Quinacridone Lilac is a close, almost neon, second). It mixes with Pyrrol Scarlet to make blazing reds, with Hansa Yellow Medium or Deep to create a range of stunning oranges, and with Phthalo Blue Red Shade for vibrant purples. On its own, it produces soft, versatile pinks.
Sorry I have not been getting notifications then someone catching up today. I would definitely go with the Daniel Smith and the mijelo mission as the colors are very different and both useful and beautiful
I don't know anything in depth about pigments, I just buy the colors that look pretty and play! 😂 I do love quinacridone colors, I have quite a few in the pink and purple family! 😬 I am amazed at the differences in the colors, and it was real interesting to see! I look forward to some more comparisons. 😊
Jackson's again: I use their "Permanent Magenta" because it is stunning. It is the dullest, grandest, saddest, most tragic violet/magenta/(grey?) you can imagine. It is somehow PV19! (So it is still a Quinacridone... but no other Quin Violet looks like that.) Jackson's watercolours are made by Senellier and Senellier have their own "Magenta Permanent" PV19- but it is cleaner and flatter than the Jackson's version- and not nearly as much WOW factor... doesn't knock my socks off like Jackson's.
I read your description of Jackson’s magenta and had to look that up 😂 you’re right, it’s kind of incredible - definitely on the wish list now, so thanks for the lead.
This is one of my most favorite colors! I have it in several brands however my favorite is QoR. Daniel Smith is a close 2nd. I absolutely LOVE the vibrancy of all of my Mission Gold colors (quinacridone magenta is no exception) however I love granulating colors and high flow (movement) that is why QoR is my Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. In all fairness, QoR really shines when you use it with other brands. It is a "pushy" formula and creates a lot of movement. If you only use a QoR only palette this fabulous effect is lost. I hope that that makes sense. Also, i am not sure why this video (along with several others) is not showing up under the "videos" tab. I accidentally came across it when I looked in the "community" tab. I am not sure if this is the case for everyone or not but it may be affecting the number of views you are seeing.
Hmmm I'm not sure why it's not showing up in my Videos tab either. I see it there, so it might be an issue with the device you are using. I want to try QoR -- just wish they had a dot card or something.
Having an issue with my device would not suprise me at all. My phone is like 8 years old and cell phone companies don't like that. They want you to by a new one ever year. I know what you mean about QoR not having a dot card. I started out with the High Chroma set. I highly recommend that as a starting point. I'd also recommend adding Nickle Azo Yellow, Quinacridone Violet And French Ultramarine. I personally use Nickle Azo Yellow and Quinacridone Gold to mix with other brands. QoR gives other brands personality.
It was interesting to see the difference between Winsor & Newton and Schminkle. They both looked the same even tho they are two different pigments. I think DS Q. Magenta is not what I would call a true Magenta.
Hard to really compare because your water mixture doesn’t seem to be the same in all the samples. What happened to the Winsor and Schmincke? They are so washed out.
QoR has the most beautiful Quin Magenta I’ve seen. It’s the only QoR color on my palette.
I need to get more QoR colors myself.
I second this. Love Qors quin magenta
Daniel Smith is definitely my favorite. I also have Schmincke and love it too
Great choices!
I don’t think I use quin magenta that frequently but I always have it in my palette. It’s such a bright and cheerful color.
It is really one of my favorite.
Wow DS and Mijello look stunning😍
Yes they do!
If you can add more brands, may I vote for QOR?
I would like to add QOR. I just have been using ones I already own, because obviously, this can get quite pricey soon :)
THANK YOU
I love that you are doing these comparisons ❤❤❤
You are so welcome! ❤️
I'm looking forward to try mijello's quin magenta after I'm done with my holbein 😊 I also have the pigment in Sennelier and qor but they were not as vibrant as Holbein.
I sadly didn't have the Sennelier one. I've mainly been doing the ones I own already to save money.
@@watercolorwanderingwithk don't worry your comparison was more than enough 🥰

Loved this. It would have been nice to have them together, but like you say hindsight it’s a sneaky thing. Lol really this was great.
Next time!

Oh no worries at all. I'm catching up on comments! Ha

Yes for sure! More are on the way!
Thank you very useful. I would appreciate if you could put the Sennelier brand please 🙏
I'll do my best. I can't afford to purchase Sennelier for every one.
Have you tried the Grumbacher professional watercolor?
I have only a few of their tubes.

I may need to look into their brand of paints I honestly haven't yet but it is just because I have so many already

Yeah I mean that's why this series is fun to compare by names and see how the name is something to not really look at
Rosa’s Rose Magenta PR122 is SO much more VIBRANT than my DS PR202 OR DS PR122! It’s very similar to your Roman Szmal..a bit darker in masstone
Yeah isn't it crazy how they can vary?
Hard to really compare because your water mixture doesn’t seem to be the same in all the samples. What happened to the Winsor and Schmincke? They are so washed out.
Nothing that was them straight from the tube. I applied all with the same consistency
If you only purchase one Qor in your life, let it be Quin Magenta.
haha I will keep that in mind
