I found one nearby for $13000. Interior needs work; but, a very solid car. I think I'm gonna buy it tomorrow.
She's a beauty! You just don't see those older olds driving around anymore.
Classic cars are typically stored in the garage..LOL They are typically not used in daily driving for fear of someone crashing into them. A fully restored 442 cost a lot more than 24K..like double that price or more.
@@davidfromamerica1871 Nope I'm 40 years old and I use see classic cars more than once in a while rolling on the streets during the 80's,90's and early 2000's but now you don't see them period.
Hey Nick, Just an fyi, in 68 the 442 became its own model, so if it's a vin correct for a 442, it is not considered a Cutlass 442, just a 442. I am in the process of restoring a convertible version of this car and have had 2 other 68's, this one looks very solid and I think a good value for that price!
I'm a Ford guy but I love 68 442s especially this one with the color and wheels it has on👍🏁 The car is generally rusty where you can't see it and it has had body work on it already which is common for a car this old. I would bring the price down a bit on this one otherwise I think it does make a nice driver car. I can see the motor has been gone over like a hotter cam, Edelbrock intake, headers and the like are added points because I've had experience driving a 72 442 with a similar set up and it was awfully quick!!!! Nice car, I would like this one!!
Me to bro
I remember the 442 they had with the cut outs....man that was a car
Just the honesty from this guy makes me laugh will buy even with the flaws 😂
Wow!!!! Is Hammer 🔨 Time!!!! This is one of the hardest Oldsmobile body style to find for this year, the first year of the New Body style!!!! What a Magnificent piece of American Classics Muscle Cars!!!! This is a Hot car man!!!! Whoever gets it is gonna be a lucky man!!!! 400 engine!!!! Sweet!!!! The way it Roars!!!! It gives me goosebumps!!!! Nothing major on the cosmetic Rust is so repairable, Solid Chassis, Solid engine and transmission!!!! At $24,900.US.... is so at Budget Fit, This car won't last for sure!!!! What an Awesome Video Nick!!! Thanks for the ride Brother!!!!
Nice!!! Nothing like an old school American V8
My first car. I've owned 2 '68 442s. Loved them both. I'm pretty sure the 442 was it's own model in '68 so calling it a Cutlass 442 is technically incorrect.
Those Oldsmobile 400 engine's we're beast's
Wow nice 442, I love the color and the classic mag wheels !! Thanks for the ride Nick !!
Nice to see you aren’t afraid to get on it! That inspires confidence!
I had a 1972 Olds 442 . Totaled it in 78.
Squalling tires past old folks, once again Nick, my boy my boy 😆😁
When they lag trying to start like that, try backing off the timing a couple degrees. Gorgeous 442!
Does the numbers matched getting hard find true one , sharp car
Be nice if a/c
]erson hanging one
Put hanging a/c
Got the wrong front seat , dragging starter
The ‘68 Olds 442 is really hard to find! First year of the new body style!
Post coupe is unusual.
@@angelo_giachetti Wasn’t the post coupe usually associated with the W-30 engine? I’m not that familiar.
W30 was available on any 4-4-2 body style. This ones pretty sharp. I had a ‘69 Cutlass Supreme hardtop back in the ‘80s, great car and the cleanest of the Chuck Jordan A-body designs, not a wasted line on The Whole car. This ones nicer than most. I’m thinkin’ about it…
I suggest anyone interested look at the bodywork. Bubbles mean rust is lurking. Trip under the car was very quick
I was so glad to finally see a 68 442 ,but sad to see how much rust it has. Still a good looking car.
The legendary 442💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
2nd favorite era in Oldsmobile Cutlass family next to 73-77 bodystyles maroon red kool on it definitely need refix trunk floor & I'd resand trunk edges nice muscle car.
When you hear that clicking sound in the older cars. It's the horn relay clicking. The relay is either not connected to the horns, or the unit itself might be defective. Just for further reference.
so true man.....a little peck on it sometimes works if they been setting!! can tell you been around them also man. have a goodin bud.
El Osmobile Cutlass 442 del 68 V8 es un carro genuino Americano , un gran auto con mucho potencial en sus entrañas .
My first car in high school was a 69 Cutlass. It was not a 442 but had the exact same interior this one has so I’m skeptical that this is a true 442 but I could be wrong. Regardless this is an awesome car that I’d love to have!
Interiors were the same except for the badge. VIN (find on web site) starts with 34477 = 442 2dr Sports Coupe. 442s were a separate model from Cutlass/F85 in '68.
I've found that Zep 2000 clear penetrating grease works best on those hinges. Got to keep them lubed good or yes a hood will get destroyed. I grew up with these too.
I had a 68 442 it a olive green color black vinyl top 👌
Stomp the little Solara. I'm not advocating drag racing. Just that it is a true test of the cars abilities. An officer would totally understand.
i like the honesty on your website here I get a real good idea of what your showing i think good enough to make the trip from indiana if I see something that i really like
Hi Nick and Family from here in the D Michigan hey Thanks so much for sharing this 442 , I ❤ them all, but with the 400 absolutely my Engine of choice. ✌❤🤲🤩😇🐴
Love the color ....she is a beauty
Test drove one in 1970..kept my 65...salesman said...newer isn't always faster.
One of the meanest muscles at the time.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Out of all the 442 ‘s 1968 is my favorite . spins the tires because those 400 olds have a lot of bottom end 👍
375 horse from the factory
A bit rough but has potential!!! Right rocker just behind the door looks like it has been mudded?
Thats an honest looking car needs some love but pretty nice
You must be German Irish and maybe a Taurus , your drive attitude like me 😎✌️
now this is a perfect everyday car
When I see some of the work these people do they make me feel like Chip foose
Any issues that baby has really don't matter. The fact of the matter is she is a classic Oldsmobile, need I say more?
When filming inside the car the video outside looks great. No washed out look. Do you use a ND or CPL filter on your camera?
Beautiful ride, I love the fast back look of the 68 - 72 cutlass
Why doesn’t anyone want Oldsmobiles anymore they were the muscle cars of there time in the 60s through to the 80s Oldsmobile was beating Plymouth Chevy Ford dodge even they’re own bosses at GM
Generations who mainly grew up driving them are dying off sadly.
If I had Factory AC I would buy it right now
That particular car did not come from the factory with that stripe. On the bottom the stripe comes too close to the wheelwell. On factory equipped cars the 442 emblem would be moved back slightly so the stripe is more centered on the fender. Not a deal breaker by any means, just something I've learned over years of being an Olds guy. Nice car and good luck on the sale!
LOL currently with the price of fuel especially premium $20 would probably got you what three and a half gallons
Gimme!!! Lol! Sweet indeed, always loved the 442s!!!
Squalling the tires after dealing with that pokie person seriously made me LOL we've all been there.
Nice car timing is advanced!
The Famous Olds 4-4-2 "Tick-Tock Tach" with the clock in the middle of the tach!
I like the car! I bet it does great 👍 burnouts
68 was the best year for a lot of cars.
And 69
Oldsmobile fast as the 🦇 batmobile 🏁 great video thanks Nick stay cool 😎
Nice!!!!!!!!!!
👍😎
He got tired of waiting on the slow suv and kicked it !! 🤠
Lol yeah 10mph was a little bit on the ridiculous side
My first car.
Im thinkin its an original 22000 mile post coupe with factory tach/rally tach combo.
Pull knob under the dash, what was that for?
If ram air was ordered on that car i think it was 2 add on scoops under the front bumper.
Nice original car.
Manual choke. A lot of people had issues with automatic chokes.
@@morecowbell69 Yeah plus the higher numbers on the ODO aren't aligned. Tell-tail it rolled over. looks pretty good underneath. Nick is being real nice and honest with the body go over. Honest seller!
The only way it could be better is to have a convertible top.
The 68 I own I traded a dirt bike for it. I had about $250 in the trade.
ROFL I loved how you baked them after that slow mover.
Nice car. Can you refresh my memory on what the 442 actually means? Been a long time since I've seen one.
4 barrel carb 4 speed tranny dual exhaust I think
@@georgelara3730 That was the original meaning, by 1968 it was a model number and had 2 automatic transmission options.
4 speed, 4 barrel, dual exaust
@@curtiscrump7153,that's what I thought. The fact that it had an automatic transmission confused me. Not hard to get confused at my age 🙄
Thought was 400 ci motor, 4bbl carb and dual exhaust
Timings a little tight ,wish I could buy it
👍 👍
You got the coolest cars
Thank you
I remember when a 442 stood for 4 barrel, 4 speed and dual exhaust. Would never consider an auto in a real 442
2 speed auto was an option for the 442
Since including the automatics, Oldsmobile have to re-define what 442 means. 4 speed was replaced by 4 as starting number of 400 cubic inch.
Its a cool car and clean and all and I love the 442 with a passion but it's not in good shape at all. Is it worth 25 grand in my opinion? Sure if someone buys it for that. Does it need a lot of work? Capital Yes
Nice 😉😎😉
Thanks 😋
Nice Olds,,
Thanks 👍
Children's book on Amazon called: Hey Mon, Cool It
442 means 4 barrel carb 4 speed transmission dual exhaust not automatic transmission.
Bad ass 4BBL 4Speed Dual exhaust. Auto*
This one a real rust bucket.
That is a beaut, great price
nice olds 442
Which manufacturer makes the gray mags on the cutlass ?
Shouldn't crank slow like that. Either battery needs to get charged up, or it's a bad battery, or the alternator is not charging it....which would mean a wiring issue or a bad alternator. Also, I would get that exhaust--which has seen better days-up and over that rear axle and out the back bumper as it should be. That is a nice car at a decent price.
I’ve been there
Do you check to see if all cars have #'s matching drive train?
Yes we tell you if they do
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate Thanks! When buying cars like this, it is important to some people. You should always strive to be able to say matching number car!!!
Is there a vin available?? Thing was making a funky sound when you first revved it. Body work and paint definitely a little slack. Did I see a Bondo crack?? Is it 400 ci??
@@markmcfarling8942 Look at pictures on the Maple Motors web page. VIN decodes as a 442 2 dr sports coupe. Body plate decodes as Jade green with parchment interior. Matching numbers is overrated concern on a "commodity" car. This isnt a Hurst or a W-45 powered W-30 rarity - Sandy The Old as Dirt Hot Rodder
Man somebody let me borrow some money for this please
Can someone explain the difference between a 442 vs a 442 Cutlass?
Nice 442 Nick 👍👍👆🖐✌❗
It's not a Cutlass, it's a 442. Period.
Oh wow for nice. Never new anyone who owned one of these lol. Somebody have $25000 they’d like to loan me? Like the mid 70’s cutlass I saw.
👍🔥⭐🔥👍
Are you using a camera drone on your overview
nope
You must be a stealth 🥷
@@Saeger81 long arms
is it a real 442 or just a cutlass
I think it's just a Cutlass because he would always say numbers matching true SS, RT or 442 when describing the vehicles.
sure wish he would answer the questions people asked
Beutiful
22k or 122k?
That timing must be too far advanced as that engine should be lighting up those tires
Give me a 4 bbl olds motor and "mild" cam and I'll send every Abner with a Chevelle home with welps on his hiney.
😎
Set the timing
Nobody knows how to do it right anymore. Plus high comp engines start hard.
bondo machine
Timing off
Road Rage! LOL
Open road !
ewww
They need to make a mans body spray to smell like racing fule
It would be cool if somebody wrote a song about fuel.
