On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 7-14-21.
We're looking at a 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 in Black Paint. The car comes with the factory 350 CI V8 engine.
The car's Owner is Larry Simoulis. Larry’s had this car since new. Larry shares he had an AMC Hornet with a 6 cylinder and wanted a V8 again. He was looking at new cars and thought this is the only car he liked the design because it looked fast standing still.
ENJOY!

Back in 2000, I restored a '76 Olds 442 identical to this one. The 350 engine was in very poor condition. We located a severe body damaged '73 Olds 98 that had a 455 in it. We rebuilt that engine, put in a W31 cam, dual-plane aluminum intake manifold with a 735 CFM Holley carb. We also rebuilt the turbo 400 transmission. We got a Currie 9" Ford differential, with disc brakes, to replace the Olds 442 stock 10 bolt differential. Final results were a very stout and nice car.
Hi Sergeant Masson, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Wow I wonder what it would have made on the dyno?
@@CreatorCade Not sure but I'm guessing it would be near 400 hp. I do know that roasting the rear tires was quite easy. The car's curb weight was almost 4200 pounds.
While we all know what happened to cars in the '70's, I think you have to admit that some of them could still be pretty nice, like this one. I wouldn't mind cruising around in one of these.
Hi Red 13, Happy to read you'd enjoy cruising in this one :-) Lou
Well stated Red.
my first car was a blue and white 1976 442. I love the NASCAR nose on that years car... awesome car!
I just picked one up blue and white not going into gear any suggestions
@@chakodewatts My only advice would be to take it to a mechanic.
Every collanade style from all the GM divisions was outstanding, Grand Am. Gran Sport, Laguna, 442, great cars.
Hi Andy, Happy to read you enjoy this body style :-) Lou
It really is an iconic body style. Love them!
The design was very stiff, solid and quiet, compared to the hardtops of the '60's. It was quite beefy and heavy, but not as heavy as Ford and Dodge of the era.
Wow, Larry's Olds is as clean as they come! The swivel seat is one of my favorite options from this era, too. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, I agree the swivel seats are a great idea :-) You're welcome, Lou
From one Oldsmobile owner lover to another. Great car you got there! Man is that cool!
Hi Simon, Happy to read you enjoy this car and you are an Oldsmobile Owner too. Lou
Love Larry's passion and stewardship of this cool car since new. I bet it turns a lot of heads cruising around town! Thanks Lou!
Hi Brian SD, Happy to read you enjoy Larry's passion for his car :-) This car seems to get the attention, you're right, and you're welcome, Lou
70s definitely had some underrated cruisers! Shame a lot of them from caprices to impalas wound up getting trashed with ghetto rims or something. This one thankfully has been spared gracefully with her original owner!
Hi Lady Dimitrescu, Happy to read you enjoy this "Underrated Cruiser" :-) Lou
If you're racist just say that.
@@CodeineAbdulJabbar don’t bring that race crap here, this is a cars channel.
@ Mason Edwards The use of the word "ghetto" is not racist, it is just connoted with Black people or "minorities" but it is actually a word with Italian roots used to describe where Jews were allowed to live.
Those cars are kinda misused, especially when people try to race the damned things or do burnouts. Nothing to do with preserving classic cars. But then again this is America.
@@Nebulasecura I agree with your statement about what happens to a lot of these cars -they get ruined almost deliberately for the sake of gaudiness and poor taste. It's not racist at all to make mention of this in recognition of a well preserved original.
LOVE IT Lou and Larry. The 350 Rocket is a great motor. Plenty of power and never gave me trouble in my 73 Cutlass Supreme 2 door landau top. I love the sound of the exhaust. I had a single exhaust on mine, quieter but similar in sound. Gawd i miss the 3 Oldsmobiles I've had. Thank you Lou for bringing us another great video!
Hi David, Happy to read you "LOVE IT" :-) Glad to read it brings back memories of your fun car too. You're welcome, Lou
I had a 73 cutlass supreme 2dr back in the 80s, black with half vinyl in the same white as the interior, buckets, floor shift and 350 rocket. Been looking for another since
Another great video Lou. My parents had one the same year and color combo. It had a 350 also but I don't recall them mentioning the swivel bucket seats. It was my mom's car. It was wrecked back in 1983 though. They hydroplaned during a storm and it rolled 1 and 3/4 times down a steep hill. Dad bought another new one in 1985 a Cutlass Supreme but they always said that the 76 was the best car out of the 3 Oldsmobiles they had.
Hi PlymouthDuster225, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Parents car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Good morning Lou! Great vid and car! My room-mate bought one new in 76! The local GM dealer had a white with red and blue stripes - also a 350 car. At the beginning of the year he had taken delivery of his dream motorcycle - a 1976 Norton 850 Commando John Players Special edition - which was white with red and blue stripes! When he saw the white 442, he knew it had to be his! He was the coolest dude in town in 1976!
Peace
Good morning Cherry Picker Guitars, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Room-mates new car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Peace, Lou
Larry has a great 442, and even more special that he is the original owner. You can tell he treats that car like one of his kids. Love the black/silver and swivel buckets. My parents had a 73 Cutlass Supreme (first year for the Colonnade style) with the 455 and Boy did that car move. Larry’s car brought back good memories of that car. Another great video Lou.
Hi Randy, Happy to read you think this car is "great" and I agree the swivel buckets are a great touch :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Parents car with the 455 :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Stunning Oldsmobile with high options. A gem!!
Happy to read you enjoy this car / gem :-)
Absolutely Beautiful!
High praise :-)
Great car! I had a 71 Cutlass and I loved it!
Hi Brock, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Cutlass :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
That '71 had far more power than this '76.
One of my favorite cars in the whole wide world. Thanks, Lou
Happy to read this one is a Winner for you James :-) You're welcome.
What a fantastic car! I have always loved the Olds Cutlass regardless of model or trim level. The ‘waterfall’ grille was such a nice & specific design element on the Cutlass. Also, Olds had the best rally wheels for many cars in their lineup, the Cutlass just being one of them. I think that the Chevrolet Monte Carlo also had available swivel seats. Thanks Lou for a great American Labor Day treat.
Hi Rusty, High praise :-) Thank you for sharing the details on this car you enjoy, and you're welcome, Lou
Yes. The Monte Carlo had the swivel seats as an option. And the 454 as well.
As far as I know, swivel buckets were available on most colonade coupes from 1973-77
Such a small detail...but I always like owners who can use the correct OEM wiper blades on their vintage cars...the modern "beam" style just doesn't fit in. Being in the fourth grade when this car was new, I recall many variations of the Cutlass being around our neighborhood...as the Cutlass Cruiser wagon was a popular family hauler at the time.
Also, I wish to extend thanks and gratitude to Larry and his service for our country.
Hi 325xitgrocgetter, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you enjoy. Lou
I hadn’t noticed the wipers but you’re right, the flat style of the old ones looks great.
Thanks for bringing another car that many do not remember or have not seen. Oldsmobile was riding high during this period with Cutlass being the number one selling car and in 1977 the Oldsmobile Division broke the 1 million sales mark. Who would have thought back then that Oldsmobile (and Pontiac) would be gone. I was in high school when the muscle car era was quickly going away from 1970 to 1974. As a result these types of cars were underappreciated at the time as they were directly compared to the previous performance cars. At that time I did not appreciate the nice ride and interiors these cars had along with creature comforts the older cars often did not have. Today I have high regards for these cars for what they were during that period and how now they really look good as compared to the cars today.
Hi Allen, My pleasure sharing with you, you're welcome, and thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Lou
Gotta love a Oldsmobile!! Would love to see the Starfire GT make an appearance
Hi The Bearded Guy Jeff Lawless, Happy to read you enjoy Oldsmobile :-) I'll keep that Starfire (or Monza) in mind as I'm searching, Lou
@@loucostabile I always want the Starfire, never found one but I had a Monza Spider back in the early 90's with a mild 355 4 speed and 4:30 gears
What a gorgeous car and a great story. I love seeing original owner cars because they are like family members to the owner. I am a Mopar guy, but I have a huge soft spot for Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs. These GM Collonade cars were really good looking. They drive and ride really nice.
If you are ever down around Middle Tennessee, I'd like to show you my 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T that I bought new and have babied all its life. People don't pay much attention to it until they realize it is 23 years old and look down into the bed.
Hi GLHS592, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and ride of this car :-) Keep up the great work on keeping your Ram special, Lou
Its nice to see a vehicle like this still with the original owner that takes extraordinary care for it. I havent seen much attention given to mid to late 1970s vehicles, so its good that this 442 is in good hands with Larry. Thanks for putting this one forward to your viewers Lou.

Whatevers under the hood this is arguably the best looking 442 of them all!
High praise :-)
It's a shame that GM had to stop building these cars with the 455 and had to use the small block 350.
Agreed.
It's so cool to see an original owner 442!
These were a cool looking car In the era where the manufacturers had to replace horsepower with stickers.
GREAT VIDEO LOU.
Hi TCT9MM, The old bait and sticker trick :-) Lou
Love the way Lou absolutley appreciates his contributors in the most courteous and gentlemanly like ways. Always love watching these! lots of love from the UK x!
Hi J Wright, Glad you're along for the ride, and my pleasure sharing with you, Lou
Nice. I don't think I've ever seen that angled waterfall grille on a Cutlass of that year. I only recall the upright waterfall grille, as shown on the Cutlass Supreme and the Cutlass Salon in the brochure Lou pages through at 6:03.
Hi Anthony C, Happy to read you think this car is "Nice" :-) Lou
These cars still look awesome and way better than new cars,Lou!
Hi Chris, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Wow - very nice car Lou! And great that it is the original owner.
I really like the Colonnade body style. This is a great example. Thanks for a great Car Story!
Hi Jeff, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Glad to read you enjoy this design. You're welcome, Lou
GM always did these body styles the best, and the Olds was the most beautiful of those all the way to '87. My best friend's big sister used to pick him up from school in this exact car and I was so envious of them, as mine picked me up in a very exciting Toyota Tercel. 🤣
It's also one of my favorite interiors. Absolutely beautiful machine.
Hi HAL 9000, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Best Friends car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Definitely the forgotten era of GM's muscle cars. Awesome to see this one! Looks good in black when I usually see the red one.
Hi eldo59, Happy to read it's "Awesome to see this one!" :-) Lou
Hi Lou, Kudos to Larry for preserving his car so well. It has a lot of day 2 mods which are very cool, plus it’s really well equipped. Your opening scene was great. There’s nothing like the sound of a floored quadrajet. It gets to your bones. Even on a video. Thanks. 👍😉
Hi Terri Bel Bliss, Happy to read you enjoy the car & episode :-) My pleasure sharing with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Another fun show Lou..I worked in a full service gas station back in the early to mid eighties.Your videos always bring back memories.(Everyone under 30yrs searching FULL SERVICE GAS STATION,lol)
Hi keeff, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Lou
They built 143 455 cars. I had a silver with black stripes and white interior factory 455 442 back in the early 80's. I've always loved the 76-77 442's.
Hi SP Steve, Happy to read you had one. Lou
On the 4-4-2 or all Cutlass models? I own a '76 455 Salon, and ordered one new with a 455.
I remember looking at one years ago I remember it had TTops and a 4 speed on the floor ..I like the color combo on this one 🤙🏻
Hi Dane Ta Tua Tonka, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the car you remember with TTops :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I had to check this out because my parents bought a leftover Cutlass Supreme at the end of summer '76. Much later I bought the 1976 brochure at Carlisle.
Ours was a 76 Supreme coupe, Lime metallic with a white top and black and white Interior, which was so common in GM coupes in the 70's. For proof check out Dennis Gage's video of a low mileage 76 Grand Prix.
We had the black dash , carpet , buckets and console, too, but with white seats and door panels, headliner and pillar moldings.
Good to see that this one is well optioned with swivel buckets, better suspension, power windows, clock, delay wipers and rear defrost.
Our green car just had popular options like a/c, automatic, am/fm, plus the sporty touches like the wheels, mirrors, @ bucket seats.
The base price of the Supreme was $4900, notice how a/c was 10% of the price! The drive train is the same as ours, 350/q jet with a 2.41 rear.
The good new is that on a trip, you could get over 20mpg on the highway even with a catalyst. I never tested mine, wonder if anyone could tell me what a car like this could 0-60 or 1/4 mile?
Hi Gregg, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Parents car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Boy, did that bring back memories of my 76 Cutlass 442. Mine was also black with gold stripes along the bottom plus a black vinyl top. Ended up selling it though to get a 78 Trans am, which i still have to this day .
Hi Richard, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
These were nice cars. I remember my Uncle having a 1976 Chevrolet Laguna he bought new. I don’t remember when he got rid of it. I had a 1975 Chevrolet Laguna I bought in the early ‘90s, mine was not quite as nice as this Cutlass. Mr. Lou the side profile of you two sitting in the front of the car during the drive almost makes you to appear as twins!
Hi Donald, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) And views of my Twin Brother Larry too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I love that car. These were the bomb I was 15 when it was new. Great job to original owner.. he loves his car.
Happy to read "I love that car" :-)
Thank you for the taking us along for the ride today Larry and Lou.
My pleasure sharing this one with you Chris, and you're welcome :-)
I own a '70 442 however I have a soft spot for the Collanade body, the '75 was perfection IMHO. These cars did not survive for many reasons but mostly paint delam, rust and a host of other issues. My neighbor lady had a blue '76 442 and i can remember so well how the paint deterioration early on. A buddy , who buys and sells like I change my socks, has a mint 20K mile '77 in an orange rust color, white guts, it is stunning. As always, thanks for sharing.
Hi Skinner Hound, Happy to read you have a 70, and this one brings memories of the neighbor Lady and the Buddy with the Orange one too :-) My pleasure sharing with you, and you're welcome, Lou
A family friend of ours had one of these in a maroon / burgundy color, with silver stripes. He bought it brand new. He had just got a manager position at HEB ( Texas supermarket chain ) and the 442 was his first purchase with his increase in pay.
I was 11 or 12 at the time and thought it was a really cool car. Him and my oldest brother would go cruising in it about every weekend.
My uncle had the Chevy version of this , a Laguna SS in maroon with white stripes.
They both owned the cars for several years and put a lot of miles on them before trading and or selling them off. I dont think either one had any major problems with the cars.
Hi troynov1965, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Family Friend & your Uncles car too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Nothing says awesome like the original still loving his car after all these years. That is one beautiful car! Enjoyed watching.
Hi Randy, Happy to read you think this is "awesome" :-) Lou
My friend had a 77 442
Dark green with beige interior
We flew all around Cape Cod with that thing in the early 80s !
The 350 , 4 barrel got about 14 mpg as I remember!
It pulled my boat , too !

Very Nice Olds...one of the best examples on the planet...
High praise :-)
Hi, Lou! In 1976, the Oldsmobile Cutlass was America's best-selling car. By then, the original 442 concept may have been pretty well watered down, but I think the Colonnade design did lend itself to the 442 package quite well, and Larry has certainly done well to keep this specimen alive for all of its 45 years. And it's great to have something different from the "usual suspects" that you can give the showgoers and everyone out on the road a chance to see. When you have that, who needs trophies?! The car itself IS the trophy! Many thanks to you and Larry for giving us all a good look at it!
Hi iswc27, "When you have that, who needs trophies?! The car itself IS the trophy!" Well said. My pleasure sharing with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Wow, that car is an outstanding example of a 76 442!! Beautiful. My Dad had a 76 Cutlass S sedan in light blue with a dark blue vinyl top. It had the same slope nose, which I think looks better than the vertical nose.

Interesting Starfire trivia: there was a plan to replace the front clip with a six headlight design, to move unsold Monzas at the end of production. That car was to be called Saturn, and was to be a new standalone brand.
Hi 2W3X4YZ5, Thanks for sharing that trivia :-) Interesting! Lou
Graduated in 83. Had a 72 white Torino ) white. Fading stripe down the side ) 351 Super cobra jet Cleveland. Trac Pac. PosiTrac rear. C c auto. Black interior. Factory h pipe duals ) was a nice ride. But in 72. The up was way down ! The EPA can kiss our aas !!

So cool to see the mostly forgotten cars from the 70s and 80s getting some attention from enthusiasts. I remember seeing these cars as well as others all over the place and then, boom, the energy crisis hit and most cars were "downsized". So nice to see this full sized 442 and it is absolutely stunning!!! I love the "B" pillar on this car, the lean makes it look like it's going 120 mph sitting still. Those swivel seats were offered in other GM cars such as the Monte Carlo and were a really cool option!!! Super cool car!!!
Hi Hobiemarty, Happy to read you enjoy this "Super cool car!!!" :-) I agree, the swivel seats are cool, Lou
I love this car! This is one of those models that are on my bucket list of must haves! Thanks Lou!❤
Hi LZ, Happy to read "I love this car!" :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of the right one for you soon. You're welcome, Lou
After watching this video, it reminds me of the 75 Cutlass S GMO we used to have, the GMO stood for the Gallant Men of Olds, it was a Cutlass S but with a landau roof instead of the triangular windows, it was Sandstone with white swivel bucket seats & a matching white vinyl roof, it also had the Super Stock wheels, ours were argent silver instead of color keyed, a 350 engine was under the hood with automatic transmission, air conditioning & more, my mom bought it at Martin J. Kelly Oldsmobile in Arlington Heights Illinois, the dealer was torn down for housing, it was a great car, but because in 75 with the new catalytic converter, it got the worst gas mileage, the sticker said 15 mpg one city, 20 mpg on the highway, but in reality, it got about 12 mpg, not too impressive, in regards to other cars with the swivel bucket seats, besides the Cutlass, the Monte Carlo was the other, & I believe you could get them in the Chevelle Malibu as well, I wish I had the money to buy that car & restore it, but it would be tricky on account of the sheet metal, but I'd also love to have that gauge cluster in it, that would be a cool upgrade, ah yesterday

Adding to my list. Height of the malaise era of car but this thing has a certain swagger to it. This is more like a 442 like a Mustang II is a Mustang...But, I don't hate this car. It is just hard for me to call is a 442. My buddy had the non 442 model 25 years ago and I did like it.
HI 2 Steak Sandwiches, You like it, but don't love it. Thank you for sharing, Lou
nice lou, another rare one owner original, and we don't see many of them anymore! thanx!
Hi T. C. Happy to share this Original Owner car with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful car.
GM must of had factory issue confusions in the 70s.
My Mom order a 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, seriously the only option she ordered was Air Condition.
The first trip on the highway a week after delivery the wiring harness melted.
The problem was the car was suppose to come with the small block 350 v8 but surprise the car had the 454 V8 turbo jet. Factory error. The wiring harness was set up for the 350 small block hence the melt down.
Instead of juat taking the car back and giving what was ordered the Chevrolet rep had the entire wiring harness replaced, which took two Months to change, and a loaner car.
So Lou maybe my Mom got someones big block in her bare bones 72 Monte Carlo.
That 442 is sweet.

WOW! I bought a 77, which is identical to the 76 other than the grill, back in 1979 with 12,000 miles- $3999. Bummer than it had a 170 HP low compression , smogged down 350 with a bonnyville salt flats 2.41 gear but with a used Holley stree dominator intake, 600 cfm holley, a W31 knockoff cam from comp cams, headers and a 10" converter out of a vega , lastly, a 4.10 gear and that heavy tank actually ran, with L60 Dunlop GT qualifiers, 14.0s at 97 MPH. Slicks? probably could have got a 13.90, maybe 13.80. Had that old ride til 1987. Put a 1966 Ikds 425 in it back in 83 and that thing screamed. Didnt need th e10" converter, an 11" was fine along with a 3.55 gear. I havent seen one of these cars since I went up to the Olds homecoming in Lansing in 2001. Cool first car. Have an 8x10 , black and white, of it the day after the high school drags in 1981 on my wall above my computer.

Chevy, Pontiac and maybe Buick all had the swivel buckets as an option. I used to lust after these as a kid and I can't believe they were an $80 option!

Dang! I gotta remember to hit that bell icon when I get home from work lol! Almost missed out on this beauty! I'm a Mopar guy, but these Oldsmobiles are SEVERELY underrated! Thanks for another great video, and my only regret is I can't find the "bell" icon on my phone 👍😄
Hi CudaRebels Diecasts and Cars, Happy to read you're going to "hit the bell" :-) I've had Subscribers tell me they don't get notified, so I upload Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday usually. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Reminds me of a friends Monte Carlo. Many of the same options. He had a 454. Can't remember the year. Nice Cutlass. Thanks again Lou.

Lou I have seen this car. (I can remember the owner as well). It was, and is, absolutely stunning.
Hi Edmund, Happy to read this car is familiar to you, Lou
That's a beautiful Olds! It is always neat to see cars that are still with their original owner!
Hi RallyNova350, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car, and bonus with its Original Owner too :-) Lou
442=400 engine, 4bbl carb, and dual exhaust. 4 speed transmission was not part of the badging because many 442's had automatic transmissions. Early 442's, the base transmission was a manual 3 speed. 4 speed manual was an option as was an A/T.

@@loucostabile 50+ years as a master-level factory-certified auto/truck tech and classic/vintage vehicle restorations, I learned a few things along the way.
4-4-2 First year-1964 .First engine -330 cubic inch 4 Barrel (no option) 4-speed trans (no option) Dual exhaust 2 (no option) Hence 4-4-2
Had a 1976 Olds 442 with the 455 that I bought new from Clark Olds in Pittsburgh. It was red with black interior/stripes. Had 23000 original miles when I sold it 4 years ago in Naperville, Illinois
Hi Greg, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Hmmm, I live not to far from Naperville, I hope I see it. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@loucostabile I met you at a car show in Naperville. I did not have my car with me at the time. I sold it locally when I retired 4 years ago. We now live in Texas. I have a pic if you want me to send it to you. The car was loaded except it did not have power windows or the clock.
I worked at an Oldsmobile dealer in 1976. I was nineteen at the time. I wanted a new Cutlass so bad I could taste it, but alas at $2.60 per hour that wasn’t going to happen.
Hi Dave, Thank you for sharing your 1976 Oldsmobile story, Lou
The swivel bucket was also available as an option on the same era Monte Carlos and Chevelle Laguna S3s.
Hi Rudy, Thank you for sharing, Lou
Had the swivel buckets in my 73 SS Chevelle also. Love the gauge cluster in this 442, so much nicer than the idiot lights.
I had the lime green with white vinyl top version. It came with a five speed manual and a whopping 260 v8...lol... I killed the five speed pretty quick and put a 3 speed into from the junkyard. Still the best driving car I ever owned. The little kids in the neighborhood called it the mountain dew car as the colors were pretty much spot on to a mountain dew bottle.
Hi David, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your lime green car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Amazing car and owner. I had 76 455 white and gold with t-tops. Here's the kicker, I traded it for a 1986 Eddie baur bronco 2. I have regretted that decision ever since. The one car, I wish I could have back.

Super cool car - my older brothers best friend had a red and white one with the big motor in it.
Hi Dirk, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Older Brother Best Friends car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hey big bro Lou! Thank you! Another thoroughly awesome video and review, man. I have never seem one of these with a 442 package. The rear 3 quarter view is sloping and badass. Love the cantered grille. The Rocket Division. Oh God, I miss Olds-I used to see them all over the place when I was a kid, no doubt. God bless the owner-and his military duty-of this beauty and how he has her looking so sweet and new at 45! That swiveling driver seat is so freakin' awesome, Lou! Me? I'd be in the backseat with my cleats off after JV baseball practice (I PROMISE I'm a White Sox fan...maybe...lol) and my tubesocked and ribbon stirruped stocking feet twitchin' outta that driver's side window with myriad girls circa 1985/86/87...;) ;) Wonderful to see an object like this Olds so lovingly looked after and cared for. Gives me joy in this crazy world :). Little bro JV Johnny
Hey Little Bro JV Johnny, This one has the right Care Taker with the right car. Agreed the swivel seats are cool. Happy to read this give you joy :-) Lou

I don't remember CD players in 76. That's new to me. I actually had a red 76 442 in the late 80s and I hate to say it but I ran it in the derby at the fair one year. Not a good derby car lol

My dad had a “77 Cutlass Supreme, the seats looked like something right out of a living room . He also had a very sporty 2-door 73 Buick Century Luxus, 4-barrel 350. Wasn’t a fan of the ‘76 4-4-2 front end treatment, it looked tacked on to the standard Cutlass headlamps.

Original owner......fantastic. PS: The early 70's Monte Carlo's had the swivel buckets.
Hi Mike, Happy to read this one is "fantastic" :-) Lou
Nice. Bought new and kept. Lucky so and so ;)
Got some grunt for a car from '76. Nice rebuild !
Hi Glen, Happy to read you enjoy how long he's had this one :-) Lou
Always interesting and brings you back to the 70s or so!Never seen the swivel buckets in a car.Has a nice interior!Parents had same rims on their 73 Omega .
Hi Tim C, Happy to read this one brings back memories of the 1970's :-) Lou
Lou it is so cool that you feature unusual cars like this and how unique that he is the original owner. The car is immaculate especially the engine bay. I wish you would would ask what features and options the featured car has and let the owner describe them. As far as "trunk and treats" please focus on the window sticker and the specific part of the brochures focused on the car you are showing. I could see it had power windows and your video of the engine bay looks like it has A/C but you would not know this by your audio.
From viewing many of your videos I have seen a pattern. I know if we look in the trunk I'm going to see the jack instructions. If you are showing the door jam and engine bay every plaque with numbers and letters will be featured. Frankly I could care less. What I want covered is the unique and special features of the car you are showing both in video and the owner telling the story about these features. As always your video of the car is A+.
Hi Bill, Thanks for sharing, and glad you're along for the ride (even if I'm showing the jack instructions) :-) Lou
My friends wife have a 1976 olds 442, it's original with a olds 400 engine. I had swivel seats and ac in my 1973 El Camino SS. That i sold 1996. Never used the swivel. It was a cool car.
Hi Marco, Happy to read this car reminds you of your Friends Wifes car :-) Glad to read you had a cool car too, Lou
@@loucostabile i did not tell you i owned a perfectly, restored, 1970 Cutlass supreme sx , matching number, Sebring yellow, 455 restored, engine, restored pearl white interior, bucket seats. Me and my 6 children loved that car. Untill one night, when the foreign refuges, fleing from missery desired, to put it on fire, one night, so that baby is gone. I live in Sweden, that's the country, who love refuges, more than Biden. LGB.
Almost bought an Apollo green with white 1976 442 that had the 455 back in the mid 1990's but it was rusted and needed some work. I did not realize how rare the 455 was in this year.
Hi Barnaby Jones, Happy to read this car brings back memories of that 1976 442 :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
