Excellent review, Thanks!
Thanks a lot for stopping and watching!
Great video !!
Thank you for watching!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hey, I really liked this video. Never used mine and I am trying them out this weekend!
Thanks! I’m still using them and over a year of trolling they are still holding up just fine!!
How do you adjust how far outside the boat they go? are there different sizes that go further distance to each side? and how do you determine what snap on weight to get. thanks. How deep of water were you fishing to be at 50 ft of line with that weight? thanks!
Once you clip the board on and send it out the more line you set out the further form the boat it goes….so you control that based off line let out. I use 2oz with non divers because it’s what I learned from watching Fishing 411. They actually have an app that gives you all the data you need.
Nice video. I fish solo a good amount , too. I was curious about the Cabelas boards.
They are great boards and really affordable. They held up great for me all season!
@@TheOutdoorConquest I read somewhere that they don’t do well in cold weather. Any thoughts?
@@Moondog9322 I’m not sure how cold your talking but I fished them in EARLY spring up north and the worked as they should no problem. They really handle the rough water well also.
Great review thanks
No problem
With side of the board we must buy ? I am from Quebec Canada and we fish trout not bigger than 15 inches ?
They didn’t come in different sizes when I made this video. They do have spring adjustments for the flag so you can make it sensitive for smaller fish. I use them for walleye and the smaller ones will still trigger the flag
Nice video very detailed keep em coming
Thank you very much for the kind words! I truly appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Great review and excellent tips!!
Thanks for watching Aaron!
Awesome review, man!
I’ve never fished with planer boards and always wanted to know how it was done.
After you put the planer board on and loosened your drag, how far do you then let THAT go out?
Thanks man! It depends on how many I’m running per side but I usually just eyeball it up
I inadvertently broke off the folding pincher on my advanced angler Cabela’s planer board, can you order a replacement for that item or do you have to buy a whole new planer board?
It’s replaceable
At Cabelas?
@@jpcdo1 I seen them at bass pro
Just curious im in the market for some nice planer board trolling rods what do you recommend? Thx
I’m not at home to check the models but I really like OKUMA for trolling rods and reels.
I was thinking about the okuma dead eye series rods. Thanks@TheOutdoorConquest
Just received 3 Left and 3 Right today. I'm wondering if you have tried the stiffer spring for Erie walleye, or if you continue to use the soft spring.
I’ve only used the soft springs. The stiff springs were too much even for Saginaw Bay walleye I found!
@@TheOutdoorConquest I was curious. The Cabelas instructions say to use the heavy spring for crankbaits, but it seemed a bit stiff. I'll give the light springs a go first. I'm assuming you have them set in the 4th or 5th hole.
@@douglemmon6823 yes! Exactly right! It will be a test and tune situation but once you dial them in for what your fishing with your good. I fish floaters with 2oz weights and the light setting works fine.
With the front clip tight on the line how hard is it to reel in a fish ? are you fighting the board as well ?
It’s simple to reel the fish in. It adds some resistance but I feel like the board helps keep the fish hooked up also. I’d rather rig it like this than release the board. Releasing the board can cause issues also
@@TheOutdoorConquest Yeah... Ive used cabelas... Ive used another brand... And i just got off shore... Ill try the trip clip and see how that feels Great video
@@mattwinans7418 I grew up fishing off shore. Know the owners well! Bruce is a great dude and his product is legit. These were new at the time and I thought they were a great “budget” option.
How do you determine how much line to let out after the weight is clipped onto the line?
It really depends on the depth of water your fishing and how far down you want to be in the water column.
@@TheOutdoorConquest I figured that much, I'm not a total idiot. What I was asking, is there a chart or a formula you use????
@@cocainecowboy5098 sorry buddy. Yes the precision trolling app
I didn’t know you need a engineer degree for fishing. What happened to the worms and hooks?.
Those work great too! Some people prefer trolling and artificial baits also
Great video. So the front clip Doesn't release? Do you have to fight the fish and the board?
Hey thanks Gary! No the front clip doesn’t release but in mu opinion I think having the board stay put helps keep the fish hooked up better also. It kind of acts like a bobber in a way.
@@TheOutdoorConquest good point. Much appreciated.
@@garykane6128 thanks! Good luck out there!
I like the weight u put on
Thanks for watching! Those are made by Off-Shore Tackle Company.. 2oz snap weights or guppy weights are great too paired up with their OR16 clip works great
Are these boards still available? I don't see them on cabelas website.
Luke my Brother.... don’t catch them all my friend
Haha! I won’t buddy I promise!
How many can you put out at 1 time?
I usually put out 2 at a time. 1 out each side. Thanks for watching!
I use the same boards, if they break no spare parts available. The front clip is junk. Basically if they break, toss it.
You can replace the front clip with whatever style you want as well as the other parts. I don’t mind the stock front clip personally. Thanks for watching!
@@TheOutdoorConquest , the replacement clip costs more than the board itself. Emailed Cabella and they confirmed what I mentioned.
@@todddejardin3578 there is a lot of clips on the market. If I happen to have one fail I’ll be replacing it but I do like the clamp style clips so far. Normally I run all off-shore brand board and clips. Just wanted to try there out. Tattle flag works well. I post all my pictures on Facebook and Instagram also!
Have you tried braid??
I did and it worked fine also. With most planer boards with braid I’ve found doing the loop around the pincher helps keep them on but this one clamps down pretty good itself
@@TheOutdoorConquest sweet even after some wear and tear they hold up? Have you tried them with a few colors of lead core?
@@tribalkilly8660 haven’t tried them with leadcore but I have drug 2oz snap weights behind them and they held up fine
So it's more of a fancy floater than a plainer.
Definitely a side planer
I don't troll much whats with the clip on weight doesn't the lure dive on its own?
Thanks for watching! No…I’m using floating crank baits and I use the weight to take it down deeper. I also can dial in the depth I want to fish by using snap weights.
Nice work!! Why is there a bag in the water next to the boat? Saw it quickly while the camera was pointed down at the rod.
@@Paulybuck thanks for watching! Those are my “drift bags” or “trolling bags”. I use those to slow my boat speed down. I don’t have a small kicker motor so I troll with the big motor. The bags allow me to dial in my trolling speed. Appreciate the question!
@@TheOutdoorConquest ahhh got ya makes sense thanks you
