I've featured a Bats deck not too long ago before Foundations released. The density of cheap lifegain cards is high enough in monowhite for what we're trying to accomplish. But Fountainport can be used to trigger Essence Channelers vigilance and flying and the token should be of use. Most likely not needed for this deck after all it is a solid build.
Got a few other comments talking about it. The life loss would be a drawback when trying to enable Leyline in the early turns, especially with such a low land count and color intensive spells.
Any thoughts on having a few green cards to give stuff trample at instant speed? With these kinds of decks I sometimes get into board stalls where oppo just blocks forever or board wipes and then win we Jace or something.
@@tarkus1113 I think you generally want lifegain enablers at 1 mana and payoffs that pick up counters at 2 mana. In Explorer you can also include Heliod as another strong payoff, at which point the extra devotion has added value.
I've been running a very similar monowhite deck, I would strongly recommend throwing in a few pain lands to maximise the Channeler's utility - being able to give it flying at will can make them excellent blockers or let them jump over a stubborn defense and let's be honest the life cost is negligible in a deck like this.
It has its moments, but ideally we want to maximize the number of creatures in the deck for Vanguard, Sanctifier, Linden & most importantly Knight Errant.
