I bought this iPad a few months after it came out and I'm in love. This was the first tablet I had bought since about 2014 and it was so worth it. I'm a student and being able to take notes, scan handouts, and annotate ebooks has been such a blessing. Cannot recommend this enough for students looks to avoid carrying around their laptop or tons of notebooks/books around school.

@@Fifi-jb3yx I think so. Using it as a second monitor for my macbook air is sooo helpful when editing essays or doing research. Being able to handwrite my notes, but still have them digitally available is helpful because studies have shown that handwriting information improves retention.
Weird how some of their colors are watered down this year. Just like the new iPhone. Previous years it was Product: (つ◉益◉)つ *RED* but this year it's more of a Product (ʳᵉᵈ?)
Man... the fact the Red is watered down as hell has turned me off from buying the iPhone 12. Gonna get the Pro Max instead for the Gold and all the upgraded tech.

Still great today too! We've been looking for a good iPad for a turning 10-year-old. Her last iPad, a hand-me-down Air 2 that was mine first, crapped out two years ago with ghost touch and battery issues. I let her use my 1st gen pro, but that's crapped out as well with a very bad battery and a little bit of ghost touch. She's been using a crummy Android tablet ever since, then her little iPhone mini phone screen for watching Disney and whatever. We were debating between the Air 4, Air 5, and 10th gen/budget. So glad we found the 4 open box through BestBuy, it's going to be great! She'll love it and it's still a good enough device to last her a few years!

I had the 2020 12.9” Pro. It was a bit too big for my liking. Ended up getting the Air over the 11” Pro. Currently watching this video on the iPad Air and typing on the Magic Keyboard. The only thing I don’t like about the set up is the fingerprint vs Face ID. Other than that, I love it! Got my mom one too :)
The whole video I was wondering how you got your green to look so good on camera. When I filmed mine it just looks silver. Then you straight up said you had to color balance the footage and I felt a lot better :D
It's a good idea to either lock your white balance and then do a base color correction for each different filming space and copy it over to other clips on that same scene, or try to set your white balance with a proper WB card to show true colors
This guy honestly saves me a lot of money, because every time he uploads a video I'm like "Yeah I want that tech now" "now I want this tech" and in the end I never get to buy anything because he uploads so much

Great video Marques! I love the super clear practical approach. Got the ipad air today! I figured the 120hz promotion is an added value for professional artist but not worth the extra $$$ for an amateur hobbyist.
The biggest thing with iPads is their RAM, and that is the main determinant in how long they can last. I think this is often overlooked, but RAM is the first thing to slow a phone or tablet down when you update to the latest OS. My 2017 iPad Pro just began skipping frames on iOS 14. It always pulled 120hz across almost any app, but now it seems to struggle to refresh faster than 45-60 times per second.
I'm not a tech-ee but I appreciate Marques ability to offer clear and concise information and be entertaining as well. He's a natural... not sounding like he's making a pitch. He's the guy in high school who the geeks, sport jocks and the popular kids would all like. How cool is that?
True, about the voice. Not sure why a lot of youtubers will speak with a high pitch voice, specially at the end of every sentence. It's annoying specially when it sounds forced. I enjoy listening to Marques, besides the great audio quality (mics, post processing, etc), he has a natural voice.
That is a VERY good point. Too many UA-camrs struggle with their "radio voice" and instead speak like they think a person should be speaking based mostly on commercials. Voice too high, inflection raising at the end of each sentence, unnecessary emphasis on certain words, too many rhetorical questions, too many cliche phrases, too many unnecessary phrases. They are hard to listen to. It is nice that Marques uses natural language and tone when talking about tech.
It actually surprised me back in HS ( 5-6 years) when I found out that lots of older people that want to know about tech watch MKBHD because of how concise the info is.
Im upgrading from my Mini5, I also got my first Pencil and the Smart Folio, it looked like the iPad Pro on paper and I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one who noticed

This was one of the best purchases I made in 2020! My iPad Air 4 still performs like a beast without any issues at all. I have decided to upgrade only when Apple stops providing it updates.
I pre-ordered the IPad Air 256gb, but immediately regretted paying for the extra capacity since I probably won’t be storing a lot of content on it. However, the 256gb Air is still cheaper than the iPad Pro 11” 128gb, so 🤷🏻♂️
Why would one buy an Ipad Air over a pro? 64Gb storage is too less and the 256GB is almost the same price as the 11inch 128GB ipad pro. Makes no sense to me
I'm actually going from the pro to the air and I'm excited. I wanted smaller. Don't mind the camera being gone. The 120 would be nice but everything else for now $500 on Amazon? Easy yes. Wifi 6. Pen support. I'm all about it honestly.
I'm very late seeing this. Really a well done review. I've been waiting for the new Pro, and will wait till we see what it brings to the Table. If the 11" has mini LED, that may be the feature that compels me to the Pro. The 12.9 is too big for what I really want. But the Air really looks like a better option for my uses. Mostly just wanted to say this was really well done.
I have the iPad Air 4 and it works wonderfully. Only downside is that I have the 64GB model, and I do have to do cleanup every once in a while to avoid running out of space 😅
I think the pastel colors are meant to appeal to some aesthetics that rising in popularity, especially since Ipads are very popular among students and the rising popularity in aesthetically pleasing study channels. Or maybe hat just my algorithm bubble lol. But I personally really like the pastel colors, especially green!

I just got this iPad air and I’m easily impressed at how it essentially gives me an iPad pro for less money since literally all the features missing from the Pro do not matter to me anyway. I also found it slightly amusing that the 256GB iPad Air is cheaper than the 128GB iPad Pro
@@XAV-117 the Pro is undoubtedly better, but realistically speaking, it is of no use to me. I barely write, game, nor create content, the LCD is plenty adequate, and pretty much all videos I watch are 60fps or less. As for “better scrolling experience”, you’re right, but iOS/iPadOS wasn’t exactly an eyesore at 60hz anyway. Plus with touchID, my iPad’s unlocked before I even look at the screen, a convenience I missed dearly ever since I jumped to FaceID iPhones. I am however upset about the Air not having the ultrawide selfie cam, but I rarely do video calls so again realistically it’s a minor complaint
I’m saving up for this one because even after three years, I just can’t get used to drawing on a wacom tablet. And after trying some of my friends’ this iPad is amazing

I agree that most people would not practically use any iPad for photography and wish Apple would innovate their devises according to how they would be used.. I would have certainly loved to have seen better screen technology such as OLED and higher spec. I’m never going out to use any advanced camera on iPad as I would look like the right knob on the block! Great review 👍

I don’t neeeed the pro but I never owned anything that is 120hz (not even a monitor) and I think that for what I want to do which is note taking and occasional movie watching 120hz on a iPad makes sense to me.
You missed another point. It's the storage. 64gb isn't enough for everyone. And if you think about buying one with a larger storage. Then there's only 256gb option and price for that is close to the price of iPad Pro 128gb. 128 is kind of enough for everybody and pro comes with more features. Soo... 😔
I'm really baffled by how many people are saying that iPad Air 4 is a better deal, considering that 64gb default storage. The price difference between 256gb Air 4 and Pro 128gb is around $150? And for that you get 120hz refresh, better camera, face ID aaand others?

Considering that it is 10.9 inches lengthwise and about 7 inches in width, it's not that much. If he was palming it from the charging port to the opposite side of the iPad- that would be impressive.
I was an idiot and purchased 2 but i love it. I been drawing on it for the first time and reading is easy on the eyes. 3x faster than the 2018 pro in download speeds
@marques my tip, instead of registering multiple fingers, I register the same finger many times in different conditions (after my shower, when I'm cold, or warm and sweaty). This makes my finger almost always recognizable no matter what!
What if you lose your one registered finger? I think the multiple fingers are primarily for backup and better ergo for different rotations you might use.

I'm thinking about getting one of these to work in conjunction with my desktop. If I need power I'll just remote into my desktop and use that.

However many people can use the iPad for their daily “computer “ and it would make much more sense to. Also in the PC world that $699 would be split between the computer, all the peripherals, monitors, etc. I’m not calling it a “PC Killer” but the price is affordable for what you get.
The iPad still doesn’t take full advantage of its performance, yes, for certain tasks like reading and taking notes it is way better than a laptop, but for advanced tasks like editing a video or writing a tesis, it is not that useful.

Just bought a green one refurbished from Apple for £400. A good tip is to get refurbished. It's basically brand new with a new metal backing and frame, new battery, new box, charger, cable, manuals etc.. it's a no brainer. £120 off

Touch ID does the job well and the reason I shifted from windows to mac was just WINDOWS. Windows is such a SHIT software, it made my life miserable. I'm glad to see this. I went with the iPad Air. Primarily, I'll be using it for drawing and coloring comic book art in Photoshop. Money IS a consideration for me, and my daughter has a 2018, 11-inch iPad Pro, so the real question is, which of the two is better for my needs? I believe I'll stick with the Air, since they are not ...apples to apples, being that they're not the same generation.

I got green colour and i loved it. Little standout colour and also looks good. However in reality it doesn't even matter as most of the time i use it with cover.

I'm not a tech-ee but I appreciate Marques ability to offer clear and concise information and be entertaining as well.
He's a natural... not sounding like he's making a pitch.

True, about the voice. Not sure why a lot of youtubers will speak with a high pitch voice, specially at the end of every sentence. It's annoying specially when it sounds forced. I enjoy listening to Marques, besides the great audio quality (mics, post processing, etc), he has a natural voice.
That is a VERY good point. Too many UA-camrs struggle with their "radio voice" and instead speak like they think a person should be speaking based mostly on commercials. Voice too high, inflection raising at the end of each sentence, unnecessary emphasis on certain words, too many rhetorical questions, too many cliche phrases, too many unnecessary phrases. They are hard to listen to. It is nice that Marques uses natural language and tone when talking about tech.
It actually surprised me back in HS ( 5-6 years) when I found out that lots of older people that want to know about tech watch MKBHD because of how concise the info is.

This was one of the best purchases I made in 2020! My iPad Air 4 still performs like a beast without any issues at all. I have decided to upgrade only when Apple stops providing it updates.
The colors are subtle but I do not recommend space gray. Get a color and live a little! the colors are light but stand out wit the right case
I pre-ordered the IPad Air 256gb, but immediately regretted paying for the extra capacity since I probably won’t be storing a lot of content on it. However, the 256gb Air is still cheaper than the iPad Pro 11” 128gb, so 🤷🏻♂️

I'm actually going from the pro to the air and I'm excited. I wanted smaller. Don't mind the camera being gone. The 120 would be nice but everything else for now $500 on Amazon? Easy yes. Wifi 6. Pen support. I'm all about it honestly.

I'm very late seeing this. Really a well done review. I've been waiting for the new Pro, and will wait till we see what it brings to the Table. If the 11" has mini LED, that may be the feature that compels me to the Pro. The 12.9 is too big for what I really want. But the Air really looks like a better option for my uses. Mostly just wanted to say this was really well done.

I have the iPad Air 4 and it works wonderfully. Only downside is that I have the 64GB model, and I do have to do cleanup every once in a while to avoid running out of space 😅
How is it on games like PUBG?
I don’t really use it for gaming because I have a Windows PC with a RTX 3070 Ti for that lol. But for productivity stuff it’s an absolute beast
I think the pastel colors are meant to appeal to some aesthetics that rising in popularity, especially since Ipads are very popular among students and the rising popularity in aesthetically pleasing study channels. Or maybe hat just my algorithm bubble lol. But I personally really like the pastel colors, especially green!

I just got this iPad air and I’m easily impressed at how it essentially gives me an iPad pro for less money since literally all the features missing from the Pro do not matter to me anyway. I also found it slightly amusing that the 256GB iPad Air is cheaper than the 128GB iPad Pro
@@XAV-117 the Pro is undoubtedly better, but realistically speaking, it is of no use to me. I barely write, game, nor create content, the LCD is plenty adequate, and pretty much all videos I watch are 60fps or less. As for “better scrolling experience”, you’re right, but iOS/iPadOS wasn’t exactly an eyesore at 60hz anyway. Plus with touchID, my iPad’s unlocked before I even look at the screen, a convenience I missed dearly ever since I jumped to FaceID iPhones.
I am however upset about the Air not having the ultrawide selfie cam, but I rarely do video calls so again realistically it’s a minor complaint
I’m saving up for this one because even after three years, I just can’t get used to drawing on a wacom tablet.
And after trying some of my friends’ this iPad is amazing

I agree that most people would not practically use any iPad for photography and wish Apple would innovate their devises according to how they would be used.. I would have certainly loved to have seen better screen technology such as OLED and higher spec. I’m never going out to use any advanced camera on iPad as I would look like the right knob on the block! Great review 👍

I don’t neeeed the pro but I never owned anything that is 120hz (not even a monitor) and I think that for what I want to do which is note taking and occasional movie watching 120hz on a iPad makes sense to me.

I'm really baffled by how many people are saying that iPad Air 4 is a better deal, considering that 64gb default storage. The price difference between 256gb Air 4 and Pro 128gb is around $150? And for that you get 120hz refresh, better camera, face ID aaand others?

I was an idiot and purchased 2 but i love it. I been drawing on it for the first time and reading is easy on the eyes. 3x faster than the 2018 pro in download speeds
@marques my tip, instead of registering multiple fingers, I register the same finger many times in different conditions (after my shower, when I'm cold, or warm and sweaty). This makes my finger almost always recognizable no matter what!
What if you lose your one registered finger? I think the multiple fingers are primarily for backup and better ergo for different rotations you might use.

I'm thinking about getting one of these to work in conjunction with my desktop. If I need power I'll just remote into my desktop and use that.

However many people can use the iPad for their daily “computer “ and it would make much more sense to. Also in the PC world that $699 would be split between the computer, all the peripherals, monitors, etc.
I’m not calling it a “PC Killer” but the price is affordable for what you get.
The iPad still doesn’t take full advantage of its performance, yes, for certain tasks like reading and taking notes it is way better than a laptop, but for advanced tasks like editing a video or writing a tesis, it is not that useful.

Just bought a green one refurbished from Apple for £400. A good tip is to get refurbished. It's basically brand new with a new metal backing and frame, new battery, new box, charger, cable, manuals etc.. it's a no brainer. £120 off

@@garrylong2993 I had a XPS 13 9370 with windows hello and now I am on the macbook pro 16. One thing I can say is that I don't miss Windows hello at all. Touch ID does the job well and the reason I shifted from windows to mac was just WINDOWS. Windows is such a SHIT software, it made my life miserable. And now I'm on the MacOS and it is just light years ahead. Such a breeze of an experience. MacOS's reliability>>>>

I'm glad to see this. I went with the iPad Air. Primarily, I'll be using it for drawing and coloring comic book art in Photoshop. Money IS a consideration for me, and my daughter has a 2018, 11-inch iPad Pro, so the real question is, which of the two is better for my needs?
