    I've been trying to work out how to remove the plastic outer seal and collar for hours to replace the interlock.
    Took 30 seconds after watching this.
    You sir just saved me again from the repair man. Thank you.

      @@eSpares I had to replace the entire drum assembly (broken spider arm) so everything in the machine had to come out (it was not "economically viable" to have it repaired by someone since the labor would've cost more than a new machine), but I took it apart to diagnose it myself (and determined that all the other components were in pretty good shape aside from a scratch where the original drum hit the tub, even the heating element had almost no limescale on it) and now it's all back together and working again without any leaks, because I re-used the original seal that didn't have any lube I just couldn't get it on, without that little tidbit of info I couldn't have done it. Thanks again!

    I found fitting the new seal to the dru9m the most frustrating job I've done in my 72 years of life. I'm very practical and been trying to fit the seal for 4 hours now and still not there yet. Unless you can see the guy in the video fit the complete circumference of the seal, think twice, you get 90% fitted and it pops off somewhere else. I even have it clamped.
    Pay someone else to fit it and make sure it's a fixed price.

    Is there a companion video that explains how to retrieve a nut driver from the bottom of the washing machine, after dropping it trying to unbolt the inner seal?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 років тому

      +TooSlowTube Many hoover machines have a cover used to reduce noise. This can be seen being removed in a similar video:
      ua-cam.com/video/w9Fd8NWXa0A/v-deo.html

    • @TooSlowTube
      @TooSlowTube 8 років тому

      +eSpares Thanks. Yes, I can feel something similar at the bottom of mine.
      I've got a Candy DQW1500, but the door seal is very similar to the Hoover in this video. The inner retainer band thing has a hex head bolt though, instead of a Philips head.
      Up until the point where I dropped the nut driver, it was going fairly smoothly... I tried using a magnetic pick up tool, but it just keeps grabbing onto the sides and other bits of the machine. I can't see where it went to, so it's a bit of a non starter.
      I think I might leave it all til another day.

    My door seal wont go back on. The draw to drum water pipe came loose/uncapped from drum so thought removing door seal would give me better leverage to get to it. Now can't put seal back on as keeps popping off from opposite side. Any tips. Already used little bit squeezy.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 років тому

      Simon Dodd Sounds like you need a third hand. Make sure the seal is fully pushed in to the lip of the drum or front panel before tying to pull over the last part and get the seal on before trying to fit the clamp band. Good luck. :-)

    Hi. I've watched your video multiple times now and I'm sure I've fitted the seal properly, but the seal is rubbing on the washer drum. Is this normal or could I have done something wrong?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 років тому

      If a wash loads is not balanced on spin the forces produced can flex the drum and cause it to contact the seal. If this has happened it may have caused the rim to wobble close and away when spun by hand. You can use a screwdriver to lever the gap larger or tap with a mallet from inside to reduce a gap. Often a little contact will quickly wear a groove in the seal preventing further contact.

    During a recent wash the seal around the front came off and a top of mine got stuck around it. I managed to remove this but there's a couple of gaps im unsure if this is damaged because of the clothing and it coming off or its meant to have these? Also what is the right way to put the seal in as i have no idea whats the front or the back? Thanks

    • @bami2
      @bami2 Місяць тому +1

      Generally the seal has a bit of a pocket/large channel on one side with holes in them, that goes towards the drum as it allows water to flow back into the drum (or to drainage pipes if your washer model has them) if it splashes against the glass window.
      There are also two ridges, one on each side of the seal that hold the retaining springs. Generally the thinner ridge (that holds a metal hoop with a spring holding tension) goes against the machine body and thicker ridge (with either a thicker metal hoop or just a large spring) goes around the tub.

    • @natashamarples6468

      @@bami2 Thank you so much. I'll give this a try :)

    • @bami2
      @bami2 Місяць тому

      @@natashamarples6468 just make sure you clean any channels in the seal (it's much easier when it's off) and lube both ridges up with some dishwashing soap before trying to put it back on, it will be nigh impossible to get it back on without it and you might need replacement springs/hoops if it just came off as it isn't supposed to do that.
      If the holes are neatly rounded they are probably original but if it's a tear or some other weird shape it might need replacement. Just make sure you don't see obvious damage and maybe put the machine in a basin so if it leaks it doesn't destroy the floor of whatever it is on.
      Good luck!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi, thanks for your comment. While we can't confirm whether there is an alternate method for your particular model, you are correct that the seal will be loose if the inner retaining band is not fitted, so this is an essential part of the process...as if not the possibility of leaks will occur.

      Hi Chris, It is possible to replace some seals without removing the top.
      The one in this video uses a clamp that is screwed up to hold onto the drum.
      It may be possible to remove this clamp through the front but is likely to be very difficult.

    • @jasonhounsell3297
      @jasonhounsell3297 7 років тому

      Yes all hoover machines can be changed via the door cavity and working through that and the lid. The most difficult to do are washer dryers, however these are done in the same fashion, just a little bit more tricky as less room to work, and have to reconnect the gasket to the drying chamber again properly. No machine unless designed in the last 2 years is different for Hoover or Candy. (I am a former hoover engineer) They can be tricky, none are hard and they are all this straight forward. Just the nack is needed to make it speedy,

    I'd like to point out that I have a hoover dynamic next and the metal ring that holds the inner part on is not screw fix, it's a spring...... and it's a complete pig.... Took me ages to do this because the seal doesn't fold inside the drum and stay there without pulling off the rim.... So I had to get my wife to hold the rubber seal out of the way to allow me to get the metal ring into place.....My neighbours learned some new swear words though.... repeatedly. Once the inner ring is secured, the rest of it took about 3 minutes..... So frustrating..

    3:19 'you can then work the lip round the rim of the drum itself.'
    No you cant. You can't work the lip round the rim of the drum itself. It's impossible. I've been on it for 2 hours.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 років тому +1

      Hi, we were referring to fitting the seal around the lip on the outer tub not the inner drum. If you look at the seal itself there should be a tight gap that will part allowing the inner edge to go inside the drum opening and the outer rim of the gap then pushes over the lip on the outside of the tub. Fitting can be difficult so it is important to ensure this 'gap' is lubricated' with the liquid soap to help it slip over the rim as you work it around. For a quick practice see how the outer lip fits and feels as you work this onto the front panel. Once you have got the hang of this take the front lip off again and retry with the seal to the tub. When retrying fitting to the tub I find it easier to start at the top and work one side down then the other as gravity can help the seal hold onto the lip. Good luck.

    • @derekbrannan9168
      @derekbrannan9168 6 років тому

      eSpares I agree this is impossible, using liquid soap has any made it worse as rubber keeps slipping off. you need more hands than an octopus. Also the video is so misleading, only a matter of seconds to fit the inner seal? more like hours. Complete disaster.

    • @liliasubkhankulova8876
      @liliasubkhankulova8876 5 років тому

      I took me a long time too, until I realised I was doing it wrong. The seal, in fact, has a kind of a "pocket" that needs to fit around the metal lip of the drum and the door opening really snuggly - but it is possible.

    • @numptification
      @numptification 5 років тому +1

      I agree, it really needs two people, one to hold the seal in place at the top and the other to work it round. But we managesd in about ten minutes. Saved a fortune. Thanks for the video.
