Thank you so much for the this detailed technique.
You are so welcome! Happy New Year
Have a wonderful new year
This is a technique that requires attention to many small details, and I think you do a fine job at giving instruction while sewing. I must be the quiet seamstress type. Thanks for the tips and product recommendations. I'm working with 7 yards of Italian black wedding lace with 1/4" faceted black beading, so I was glad to find your video. It appears to be one of a kind on YT.
So sorry I missed your comment... Thank you for watching!
That exactly what I need! Thank you.
So happy this helps you!! Thanks for watching

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for following along with me
Hi! I used your video to make a wedding dress for my daughter with lace that had a border. That worked great. Thanks! The pattern is sleeveless, now she has decided that she wants some butterfly circular type sleeves on it using the border on the edge of the sleeves. All of the patterns that I have seen have round edges, so I am stumped on how to go about using my border print to make the sleeve that I need. Any assistance you could offer would be greatly appreciated!
If the border print is straight and the sleeve edge is circular... I would cut the individual motifs of the border apart. Cut the sleeve out of netting or organza. Then position the motifs along the curved edge... Use a tiny zig zag to sew them in place. Does that help?
@@JSternDesigns Thanks! That may work. 😃
Hi thanks fr the ideas but i use the same technique but i end up damaging the garment wat else cn i do sometimes i use my hands to remove gthe glass diamonds on garments it takes alot of my time and i end up with soar fingers
So sorry to hear! I should have mentioned that you should test the method you're using to remove beads on a scrap to see what happens. To get better control over breaking them up, try using a pair of needle nose pliers to crush the glass diamonds... That may work better! Thanks for watching
usually i applaud any helpful videos of how to do things but anyone who is using this as a guide or the proper way to do this technique should be aware that you NEVER have a front seam in a bodice!!!!!
It is true that the center front seam is distracting in this design. I drafted this bodice to fit my daughter who has bust that is really asymmetrical and large. After getting the bodice to fit evenly, I forgot to create a center front piece without a seam. When I saw it under the lace, I did cringe a little... in the end, I decided to leave it. But, there are plenty of classic bodice designs that do require a center front seam.

So beautiful! I love the gold over that fabric. You did a great job explaining everything. I'm wondering, if I have beaded velvet fabric, that I can't get wet to remove the stabilizer white strip, is there anything else that will work? Thanks for the video!
You can try using strips of lightweight tracing paper. The needle holes will perforate it, making it easy to tear away (gently).
That's a great suggestion. Thanks so much.
Thanks this is so helpful

super😍😍😍
So sorry I didn't see your comment until now. Happy to help! Thank you for following along with me
Hello, nice video there, very instructive but what size of needles can sew this without breaking the needles
Thank you for watching! The trick is to carefully break the beads that are in the way of the stitching lines. I use a mini hammer to gently break them. Then you can use a size 12 microtex needle (microtex needles have a nice sharp point www.schmetzneedles.com/schmetz-microtex-needle-making-fine-point/
I like it .
:) Thank you
Hi do you use the metallic thread in the bobbin as well
No, not all home sewing machines love metallic threads in the bobbin. Instead try a lightweight thread (100 weight)
👍Thank u
So sorry I missed your Comment. Thanks for watching
Any hints for removing reverted beads?
TIA
Hi Farah, Can you tell me what a reverted bead is (I'm not familiar with that term :)
What brand sewing machine is this?
I think that was my Pfaff 2170... Since I made this tutorial, I've moved over to the Janome 6700P (with presser feet that have built-in walking feet similar to Pfaff's Dual Feed)
Hi what material was used that the boning was sewn onto
I used lining fabric to make the channels to slip the metal boning into. So sorry I missed your comment.... Thanks for watching.
Where can I get this lace from?

Why dont you use a serger?
The raw edges of the lace did not fray, so I didn't need to clean finish them. Plus, the looper threads may have shown on the right side of the bodice after the seams were sewn.
How to remove beads from abhaya
I use a small hammer to break the beads in the seam allowance
Why did u decide on gold over turquoise.
Bette Gregory We we’re coping a dress my daughter fell in love for... but it was really expensive facebook.com/jsterndesigns/photos/a.120903733009/10154100684253010?type=3&sfns=mo
Man, I was always taught to remove beeds from seam allowances before I cut lace.
It is safest to remove beads before cutting... I removed them after I cut them out so could see exactly where the beads needed to go. (Plus I had a rotary cutter blade that was already nicked).
