    It was a gift from a friend... It came with three spools of each color :) I've seen them at sewing events, if you google gutterman thread display, I think you'd be able to find information about them ;)

    Wonderful instruction, and very interesting topics. I love sewing, and have done it for a living. I enjoy watching your videos, as now, I am stuck in 'crochet' mode...since it is 'fashionable' again, and your videos make me feel like I am also sewing with you. Thanks !! ;-D

    Tq for ur tutorial. This is new method for me to try. I love attached lace on satin for my celebration traditional outfit. Usually I use French seam method to join lace. Maybe will try put stabiliser after this

    I would like to see the whole length of the dress. It looks like you made it strapless and not with the sheer overlay up to the shoulders. I'm wondering if you made it with the sheer overlay up to the shoulders if the dress hangs from the shoulders or if you still use the longline bra to hold it up.

      Hi, I'm sorry I didn't show the full length of the dress, the skirt was a simple straight skirt that was slightly gathered at the waist. I used metal boning in the foundation + a Long Line Bra to help shape and hold the dress up. I was so happy to see Abby in the dress and not have to pull it up once. ua-cam.com/video/56VcYgNXOkE/v-deo.html

    I have a super thin mesh shirt to wear under a dress and I ordered jewel/crystal appliqués for the neckline and shoulders. Do you think the heavy jewels will hold up if I sew it on the shirt? I don’t want the shirt getting ruined or tearing cuz it’s so thin. Any suggestions ???

      Hi Tana... It sounds like the mesh may be a little too thin to support the appliques you purchased... maybe forget embellishing the shoulders and sew the appliques together to create a collar to wear over the shirt?

    I know this is old, but you mentioned that you would show us how to add applique as trim to the top edge of the bustier. I cant. seem to find it.

    hi nice tutorial which do you recommend stitching or gluing beaded lace applique to stretch mesh?

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  8 років тому

      LeshawnDIYdesigner ...I would stitch it, but if you're making a costume, or running out of time, a little glue would do the trick :)

      J Stern Designs thanks a lot and would you recommend using fabric glue or gemtac embelishment glue?

      Hi again, I think testing on a scrap is a good idea. With beads and nylon and mesh, you may want to see how it feels after it's dry.

      J Stern Designs My prom dress is really plain, and I would like to add some appliqué or embroidery, how could I do that easily? I don't know much about sewing, where I can find the supplies?
      Also, when I go to the tailor do you think I'll be able have a slit put in the side of a layered satin dress? Does it have to be up the seam??

      I found the gold beaded lace in the video by searching online ... I put "gold beaded lace" in and I searched images. When I found one I liked, I clicked on the photo and it brought me to the website that sold it. You can do the same kind of search for "lace applique" or "embroidered lace" ... search in google images and see what comes up. Once you find it, you can hand stitch it to your dress... using lightweight thread that matches the color of the lace.
      As far as putting a slit in the skirt, you can slice up from the hem to create a slit. But the edges will have to be finished. Depending on the skill of the tailor, it is possible to do that. ... It would be much easier to add a slit to the side seam. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions. Thanks Jen
