I just think fuel economy and rotary should never be used in the same sentence. If you try to get good fuel economy out of one you compromise in areas that are more critical IMO.
This is really cool, definitely a compelling package, but for how much it likely takes to replicate why not just go 350Z? Same power, similar weight, good suspension and steering, similar sound, and probably much cheaper to get into and maintain overall not being a swapped car.
@@MarinatedPasta if you needed 4 seats you could have a g35 for similar money to a 350z. Or even a genesis coupe 3.8. And this definitely cost more to replacate than the cost of a 350z, you could pick a decent one of for 6k or a great one for 12k, and im sure ghe work required to swap the engine, transmission and differential and then getting the electronics to work would be atleast 10k in especially if you are going through a shop not including the cost of the car. So youd probably be into this car atleast 15k. You could almost afford to buy and boost an FRS/BRZ got that money with how cheap they are getting. Its a cool and interesting package but you can have other cars that do the same functions and deliver similar performance for much cheaper. And likely would be easier to mod and maintain the other cars considering they'd still have their factory motor.

@@sdlausen1 I get where you are coming from, but an engine and transmission swop is an awful lot of work for a minimal performance gain. I imagine the V6 changes the balance of the car significantly, so handling will be slightly compromised. I felt the front end feel has changed or maybe he’s not that used to the car. You are left with one great aspect of the car, the taught rigid chassis, but you lose some of the other standard features i.e. revvy engine and rifle bolt gear change. What has this engine swop added to the experience? Each to their own though.
@@ArtVandelayOfficial that's the appeal for the ls swap for me as well. My 02 Chevy with an lm7 is sitting at 286,000 miles on the original motor. I love everything about the rx8 minus the potential reliability problems.
I think the answer is Honda J Series v6 with an s2000 tbh. It would be like this car but much better. It's very worth looking into. They take boost well too.
It has 3 sides to each rotor each side is doing what a piston would be doing in a piston engine,(intake, compression, combustion, exhaust), so compare it to a v6, 2 rotors x 3 rotor faces, so not 1.3 liter or 2.6, actually 3.9 liter. Mazda is calling it 1.3 liter being the 2 combustion chambers added together, just as any piston engine is all cylinders combustion chambers added together, but you have to remember, a piston engines cylinders are only on combustion one at a time.
Thanks for the video. I think the ideal swap would be a Honda Civic Type R crate engine. 306HP and 295 lb-ft of torque. It’s what comes in the Ariel Atom now. Problem is you can’t buy one unless you’re ordering it directly from Honda Motorsports for a Honda build. The other engine I’m very interested in is either the older Mitsubishi 4G63T that went in the Evo or the newer Mitsubishi 4B11T that went in the last version of the Evo.
if you're going to 4g63 swap something, you should look into using a Starion or Conquest. They had a 4g65 stock, and that is compatible with the 4g63t internals... ;D

Man I love that Tillett carbon fiber seat, I've used Tillett seats for go kart, where can I get one for car?
This is really cool, definitely a compelling package, but for how much it likely takes to replicate why not just go 350Z? Same power, similar weight, good suspension and steering, similar sound, and probably much cheaper to get into and maintain overall not being a swapped car.
4 doors and seats. Also they could also probably be very similar with pricing
I have one of these, some of you may have seen the silver rx8 at gridlife nola. Everything about it is great. Keisler is great also and always improving this swap.
ua-cam.com/video/Wnhm-Bit0q0/v-deo.html. Heres a clip of how it sounds at the trackm
Did you do it yourself? Was it difficult?
@@j.e3336keisler automation did the swap for me, but generally id say it should be fairly easy. The swap kit provides everything you need and there is a detailed video series to guide you.
@@_Mike_D_ Oh ok thats nice. Lfx rx8 is definitely on my dream build list. Was is expensive all together? Could you do it under 15k?
@@j.e3336 if you check out the website there are brochures that give you cost. Id like to say 12-16k for everything including a chassis if your doing the work yourself. I think i spent 22k but that included Penske's and some other extras. I flew to Knoxville, hung out with Andrew for a bit and drove the car home. If your in the area ill be at barber oct 1/2 if you want to check a swapped car out.
Sounds great, but doesn’t seem that quick. It might be the camera angle. Good work though.
It's not about being fast all the time. Quinn wouldn't own an s2000 and a Miata if that were the case. I think this build was more about reliability + a great chassis.
@@Jack-my4mx it added reliability 😂
This will run for half a million miles
@@ArtVandelayOfficial that's the appeal for the ls swap for me as well. My 02 Chevy with an lm7 is sitting at 286,000 miles on the original motor.
I love everything about the rx8 minus the potential reliability problems.
Just that intro got u a subscriber!
a J-series in this would be sweet
That engine is very light and mounts up to the s2000 transmission. 300HP stock.
@@thedoctormma9433 Don't need a adapter plate.
Sweeter than the lfx? Fk no
I think the answer is Honda J Series v6 with an s2000 tbh. It would be like this car but much better. It's very worth looking into. They take boost well too.
It’s not a stock setup to be RWD at all and the base power levels with J series are not adequate
Saw some forum posts on an LFX swap. Sounds fun. Looks good. Still shit compared to the scream of the standard engine.
A smooth 9K RPM is always intoxicating...
Huh, that’s an interesting swap
Interesting build, camaro v6 swap sounds cool
You know what's cool, Yellow S2Ks!!
@@TheSlipAngle haha you got that right!
Ill admit, that sounded and looked fun. And not an LS swap! 😆
Definitely enjoyed watching you giving it the beans 😤👍
Hey this may be a dumb question but, what do you need to swap it? Also how much did it cost to swap?
I mean🤷 if you're on a tight budget it makes sense. I think a vr38 would make more sense if you're using a V6 but also substancially not expensive
VQ37 would be cool
@@TheSlipAngle I found one for 2500$ and almost did a Vq.... But realized I couldn't sleep at night without my BRAPS
Do you have any info on the Tillet carbon fiber seat/rails? Looks pretty awesome.
Dang Quinn about time! Been teasing it on IG for like a month =P
Can't rush the process :P
Oh man, now I want one
is there a way to get rid of the rev hang or whatever that is between shifts?
that would take all the fun away imo
Lighter flywheel
Thanks for the video. I think the ideal swap would be a Honda Civic Type R crate engine. 306HP and 295 lb-ft of torque. It’s what comes in the Ariel Atom now. Problem is you can’t buy one unless you’re ordering it directly from Honda Motorsports for a Honda build. The other engine I’m very interested in is either the older Mitsubishi 4G63T that went in the Evo or the newer Mitsubishi 4B11T that went in the last version of the Evo.
if you're going to 4g63 swap something, you should look into using a Starion or Conquest. They had a 4g65 stock, and that is compatible with the 4g63t internals... ;D
i am 16 and had planed to do this swap if it manages to be cheap when i grow up, unfortunately people are noticing it now and i dont think i would be able to afford it :(
Interesting engine choice...
Better than rotary? No (although subjective as everyone likes what they like - or doesn't)
Better than a V6 Camaro? by a fucking landslide
*This was a waste of a good series 2 though
gotta nice sound but probably wouldnt be my first V6 choice to swap
Which V6 would you choose instead?
@@southernclassik something italian could be fun...when did the stop making them ?
@@southernclassik A Ford NA V6 from a Transit van, Mustang, or F-150. Another great option is a Nissan VQ35/37 swap.
doesn't the swap makes it top heavy ? 13b is a small engine. How do you balance the car ?
were you able to keep the battery under the hood?
Is the traction control on or is it a sport without one?
WHAT A BEAUTY!
Looking at used rx8’s how much does something like this cost approximately all in?
Turbo 20B Quinn we’re holding you to it 😄
🤗🤗🤗
I bet an LS or LT V8 weigh about the same. I'm sure it was a cost factor going with the LFX.
The LS can definitely be light. Nice thing about this is if you find a wrecked V6 Camaro you can just have 1 donor car.
hey Quinn, I'm wondering your perspective... should I J32 swap my NB2 or look for an RX8 chassis? I already have a new-in-crate J32A, but my 1.8 runs great and I love the RX8... Please let me know which car you'd prefer and why
It's really hard to say. I guess it depends on what you are really trying to do.
@@TheSlipAngle sorry I should have specified. I'm looking to do drift days, occasional autocross, and spirited back road drives. if I do rx8 I'll keep miata stock power with current suspension/chassis mods
Great track car setup
Here is my burning question. How much does it cost? Is it better than a similar cost vehicle? I love swaps and modded cars but I am trying to remember that a car with a lot of money in mods needs to be better than an OEM car of the same cost.
If you check the shop website they tell you the whole cost it’s about 12500 to do it honestly not that bad
I’ve been waiting for this 🙏
Turbo 20b sounds nice on paper...but you better have a whole lotta Paper 💸
I can feeellll the prices of rx8s going up just watching this
Not really, the keisler automation swap has been around for years now, nothing new.
I have #863 Shinka . Would it be smart for me to swap the engine??
How much would it cost to do that ive owned an rx8 for long time now it needs engine?
What exhaust system is that? Or who did the custom exhaust if its custom?
The power and reliability...
I love the rx8 I just hate that the motor is so unreliable, I really want an rx8 though the widebody kits look amazing on them.
Very interesting swap.
I really want to hate this but I really like it
Does anybody know the exhaust set up on this car? It sounds really good, I’m wondering if is a cat-back for the RX8 or if he custom fitted a Camaro exhaust?
I would love to know the exhaust setup on this car
How would it cost to do so,etching like this?
