I know there are extents to the rotary that i can't push beyond. Id love to just walk with the muscle boys and make them fall in love with the beauty of the Rx-8 platform

I get an LS swap for reliability etc over the Renesis engine, but an FD conversion like they do here in Australia would be much better imo.
How does it handle with the extra 100 kilos and being set so much further forward in the engine bay. I owned one and what I loved was the way it handled with the light motor sitting behind the front axel, it was so easy to flick through fast corners, that was the real beauty of the car, with decent rubber it was a joy to hustle along a country road.
Wish u guys had a detailed second by second version so we could see all the harder stuff

Where you get the motor mounts and how much did everything cost you?
Like clean and sounds spicy af. Does the LS in the front make the RX8 feel nose heavy?
Haven't noticed anything weird about the weight distribution yet. Unfortunately I never drove the rx8 with the rotary in it so I don't have the stock platform to compare it to. Once I take this thing to the track to start drifting will be the ultimate test!
@gastancehouse that's good info. I really hope the back end is still easy to swing and weight transfer is a breeze!
did you lose your air conditioning, cruise control, or anything like that? Also, did you need to put the battery in the trunk? Great video. I want an RX8 really really bad...but don't want the rotary.
how long roughly did this take for you and what was the budget?
Started working on the car and removed the rotary in August 2022, and had the car on the road inspected in May 2023! Full cost breakdown coming soon!

I do appreciate the feedback though, to answer your question, the stock rx8 differential mounts are extremely weak and the best way to remedy is to reinforce the whole subframe and solid mount the diff. Proven to hold up to 400 ft lbs and prevents a costly upgrade to a ford 8.8 or equivalent!
What did you do for the throttle pedal? is it DBW or DBC?
DBC! I used an MR2 spyder pedal with some slight modifications. I covered it briefly in this video here ua-cam.com/video/qBWIekzHjik/v-deo.html
Here is the throttle cable that I used. It did the job and seems to be working fine!

Thank you for following along! Difficult? Yes! Impossible? Absolutely not! The whole process was a learning experience for me, but with the time and energy, it is definitely doable!!
@@gastancehouse I’m in the process of rebuilding an LS to swap and the RX8 has been on my radar but why did you ultimately pick this car?
It is one of the cheapest RWD chassis that you can find nowadays! So many are being sold as rollers due to the rotary engines dying out early! Also I always liked the look of the RX8s, even 8 years ago when I was looking for my first car, but couldnt pull the trigger due to reliability. Now I just decided to make one reliable!
Digging your videos. I have an RX-8 I bought recently that I'm planning a LS/T-56 for. I used to have an RX-7 with a Ford 5.0/T5, but my brother sold it and kept the money.
I have to rebuild another car first before I start on the 8, but hopefully I can knock it out quickly.
